Was just in the phone this morning w/ Van's, they have the best bicycle mechanics within 100 miles so I was going to bring a couple bikes in for maintenance. We got to talking and I'd mentioned a previous dissatisfaction, he simply apologized and we spoke about the situation as a whole. I ordered a specialized helmet and ANGI sensor for our grandson for Christmas. The website said it was in store. I called today to ensure I could come pick it up as we live an hour away. I was told they don't have it in stock, blamed the website and said all they could do was refund my money. Not willing to make their mistake right and I shouldn't have to ask them to do so. Van's is a great store. I've been doing business with these guys since I was a kid, back when they were also a skateboard shop. Everyone in the shop is friendly and knowledgeable. Their prices are the same as any other dealers or Amazon for that matter. My wife and I bought two mountain bikes a few months ago and couldn't be more happy with the purchase. I purchased a used mountain bike, and it needed the brakes bled and the tires filled. Before I leave to Van's, my wife tells me about a story 12 years ago where this place wouldn't air up her tire for free in 105 degree weather. I'm like w/e crazy women, so I go... I do many different sports and have never had such an off-putting experience. Step away from the business if you are not passionate about sharing it. These small niche industries need to embrace new customers to their sport, and educated. It's the only way you will grow - the law of large numbers. Being in sales all my life, this left a very bad taste. Very bad. My wife and I am are returning riders, but will not be returning to this store. Roseville will be servicing my bikes. - I travel for work, so it's really a non issue. Maybe you were mistaken by my attire or vehicle lol. But you were mistaken. I like to keep it local, but will go to Roseville for my needs. I was a bit disgusted after I have spent almost a couple Grand on bikes at Vans and I went in the other day because I don't know how to put a tube inside of a tire and air it up I asked the grandson of the owner who was working at the time if he can help me put air in and he points me to his manual air pump when they have an air compressor there and tells me to Google on how to do it. I left there went down to the corner smog and tire shop on Gray and Franklin and a nice man helped me there. I will never spend another dime at vans I think it was pretty lazy and very unappreciative. Thanks for nothing kiddo read more

Best bike shop around. Have been coming here since I was 14 and have always been good to me. Once popped the tube on my bike 3 times in one day and they gave me all my tubes for free. Just the other day I ordered some handlebars for my bike and since they were out of stock they gave me the more expensive model for the same price. read more

This place is absolutely perfect for what we needed. I needed a comfortable but affordable bike to do short commutes in town. I also needed a high quality child trailer so that I could bring my kids with me whenever I wanted to go for a ride. The men working here were so knowledgeable! I was an absolute beginner, and had so many questions. Once I decided on a bike and a trailer they had it put together for me in no time and showed me exactly how to use, store, and properly lock up all of the components. We even came back later to have the seat switched out and they shortened the post for me so it would be a bit better of a fit. I am so impressed with this business and I'll continue going back. I was visiting my Mom and picked up a road bike at the Flea market that needed a 700cc presta valve tube. When I asked for it I was told it was 7.99 so i asked what kind it was thinking it might be a slime tube or something that might be more expensive. His response was its a good one, so i said I'll pass and on the way out one of the other guys said they were the cheapest in town. I then went to the Corner Bike store and bought a Giant tube for 5.99. I like to support the local bike stores but there's a limit to my generosity and 33 percent more than your only competitor is pretty telling. I know Wal-mart sells the same size tube by Bell for 4.99. I really wouldn't have bothered reviewing a bicycle tube purchase but being lied to to make a sale for less than 10 dollars made the experience worth sharing. When in Yuba City I'll be taking my business to the Corner Bike Shop . read more

The only Specialized and Cannondale bike dealer in Yuba City. Out of the two bicycle shops in town, this one is seen supporting the cycling community more often. Van's is a supporter of the local cycling club, Yuba-Sutter Cycling. They also support the Bike around the Buttes ride held in the spring. The shop isn't huge, but neither is the other bicycle shop (Twin Cities Schwinn). In my opinion, you can visit either bike shop and still feel good about supporting your local bike shop. read more

I went in for a bike tuneup for a Schwinn that I thought was in pretty poor condition. I planned on them telling me that the bike was a lost cause, but they actually informed me on how the bike was easily tuned, and just have a few minor problems. I was just in here yesterday looking for a pet basket for my cruiser, the two gentlemen that were working are super friendly and helped me find the perfect basket for my dog. I really like Van's. After being in and out of City Bicycle Works (Sacramento) for nearly 8 years with no real loyalty established, I really appreciate the personal attention at Van's. I go in, I ask for what I need and it's in my hands within minutes. They seem to care about instilling a love of bikes in my kids and have helped with helmet fitting for the little noggins. We have purchased 3 bikes here now, and have had more than a few opportunities for servicing the bikes we already have. I have had plenty of chances to be made to feel dumb going in to get bike stuff for my hubby, but these guys always help me figure out what I need. I have seen a few reviews on here that conflict with the consistently good service, attention and selection my whole family has gotten at Van's. Go see for yourself...they're good people. read more

How's this possible? Not aggressive in selling while having a top notch customer service. This store simply gives what you want from a bicycle store. I bought my road bike here and it came with one free bicycle tune up that was valid for a year. When I needed for a tune up, it had already passed a year and a half but they were courteous enough to give it to me anyways. Everytime I visit here, I come out with satisfaction, even when I didn't purchase anything. The owner is awesome. The skinny white young male has an outstanding customer service skills. About 2 weeks ago I went in to look at balance bikes for my 2 year old. I was immediately approached by a very nice young man named Sawyer offering his help. He was very knowledgeable, polite and patient while I made my choice. He then showed me all the helmet options and gave me plenty of time to choose.
