The shoes are always great, no problem there. However, when I went to sit down to try my shoes on, there was a very sharp edge on the seat. My jeans got ripped and I got a 1 inch gash in my leg. It still hurts and is swollen. I told the staff and had to tell them 4 times before they took action. A girl who worked there grabbed duct tape to cover the sharp metal edges. She told me that the same thing happened before and that it still happens because people take the bumpers off the seats. I find this very irresponsible of the store management and corporate offices if this has happened in the past and keeps happening. I went to get shoes and got an injury on top of it. "Sorry" doesn't cover my pain days later. I would NOT recommend shopping at this store. read more

Three words: Deals on Vans. Enough said. When my boys were little this was the best place to buy their shoes. Back then it was buy one get one free. The best deal in town. Then it changed to buy one get one 50% off. Now it's buy one get one 50% off select styles only. Still not a bad deal if you get there early I can find the styles you want. Best time to come is on a non-holiday weekday when school is in session. It's not as crowded and then please have more time to search in the back for other sizes and styles. If you can find a helpful employee willing to find your style that works with the buy one get one 50% off deal. Wow...customer service has gone down in the last year. Diana was our cashier and she was rude and seemed to not want to be there. I was just exchanging shoes WITH A RECEIPT, and she said "well I still need your ID". I didn't mind giving her my ID but she was so rude about it. And her male coworker looked and her and looked at us and jokingly said "Damn Diana, why are you so stern?" And started to laugh! I felt embarrassed and belittled. It would have been nice if she had cleared the reason as to why they needed an ID and receipt to make an exchange but NOPE! She didn't care to let us know. I've always been a fan of the Vans brand, but I am taking the time to write a stellar review of Vans in the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. I was on my way home when I needed to buy a pair of new Vans for someone. I was warmly greeted by the lady at the front desk (Bianca). I was easily able to find what I was looking for because the layout of the store was so clean and organized. As I tried to grab a box that was a bit high for me, the kind associate (Hannah) asked if she could help. I agreed to the offer, and we got the pair of shoes down. When it came time to purchase the pair, Bianca, at the front desk, let me know of a BOGO 1/2 off second pair deal going on. I was thrilled about this fantastic deal, so I bought another pair. It only cost $75 for two pairs of high quality shoes. Ummm yeah I came in at a good time, and I wouldn't have been able to take advantage of this for it had not been for the hard working and kind sales associates at this store. Thank you, Vans. I came in for my yearly shoe shopping, and I traveled about 15 miles to find a pair I could buy in store and bring home. I was very disappointed with the service at this branch. They were completely out of almost every average womens size. No suggestions for similar colors in the right size. No offer to order the shoes in-store and ship them to my house. This Van's outlet shoe store is located in the Carlsbad Outlet Mall and to tell you the truth I would of been better off walking into an outdoor shopping store located on the streets of Tijuana then ever thinking of walking into this store again! The idiot that works here has no personality what so ever or customer service skills on top of that! He was rude and basically acted like we were in his way rather then us being the customer looking to spend some money. A robot would of treated us better. His buddies hanging out in the store waiting for him to be un-busy and taking up space while we were trying to shop, its not like there's much room in there in the first place they have over crowded this store way to much. This store always has a pretty decent selection of vans shoes for men, pretty much the shoes here are $5-10 lower then retail price. i get most of my kids shoes here...especially when they are buy 1 get the 2nd 1/2 off! i stock up 2 pairs for each now and 2 pairs for each in the next size (which they reach within 6 months). the staff is usually slammed but they are ridiculously helpful in finding sizes and styles that are tucked away in their store room... i have been a VANS girl as long as i remember ...and as long as i have any influence on my kids style i will continue to be a vans girl (i have grown old an lazy and just wear flip flops year round now) FYI...the VANS store in san ysidro (las americas) is bigger and has more selection...but this is a heck of a lot more convenient for me. read more

I made the drive to Carlsbad to look for a Mother's Day gift for my mom. While I entered the store I was not greeted. Then a girl continued to follow me up four aisles in a row. Then stared at me from the registers. All while I was wearing my own vans and held my vans wallet. I'm not sure if I was racially profile or if there's a time limit on browsing. I was there for no longer than 15 mins. When I walked up to pay for my items the two workers were whispering. This was the worst customer service I received. I've watched numerous people get told the buy one shoe get a slaw shoe for 50% off does not apply to their "on the side of the store" shoe because it is not on sale. One after another. Been a few times now and never had to return anything until now. I work in retail and am aware of different return policies, so I guess I wasn't surprised to receive store credit instead $$ back. Was a little disappointed not to receive $$ back when a debit card was used for the purchase. Oh well, they didn't have any merch cards at the front and when the employee helping me asked another to go get some cards he simply said "no." hahaha.... I have been to numerous Van's Outlet Stores. It's a hit and miss. We happened to find a couple of pairs of shoes with decent prices. When Van's opened their outlet stores a few years back, you were able to find shoes in the $15-$20 range. Now the discount shoes are in the $35-$45 range. That's a discount? When I shop for Vans, I shop for the shoes that fit my personality. It would be ideal if some of the insoles have arch support. Sometimes I have to add some extra support, depending on the shoe.
