I had the most amazing experience today in the Vans Store - Escondido. I was shopping to replace shoes for a gentleman I've come to know through volunteering at a church. Though I won't get into all of the details, the store personnel exhibited extraordinary kindness and generosity to me and the gentleman I was helping. I was deeply touched by staff's (I cannot remember the staff member's name) caring and understanding that not all people are fortunate enough to buy shoes whenever they wish. the girl that helped us was rude for no reason. when we asked a question she hit us with a sarcastic "YEP!" like ok?? she had colorful hair with the sides buzzed and acted like our presence in the store was the biggest chore. when we were paying, i tried to get my code to work, but she didn't listen to a word we said and just tapped on the counter like she couldn't wait for us to leave. so i did just that and chose to go else where. the store was empty too. super distasteful experience. I seriously pray that whatever she has going on internally will be dealt with. read more

Accessibility: there are accessible/handicap parking spots in front of building a few doors down; the ramp to get onto the sidewalk is also there. Pull doors to enter but usually propped open for people to walk in. Experience: great selection of good looking skater/street clothes, shoes, socks, hats, backpacks, skateboards and more; only downside is that it is a little too pricey for me. read more

Stores in malls wonder why sales are down, here's one reason why: I walk in and there's a pair of shoes for $125 that I don't need but they looked very comfortable. Young lady walks up and asks "may I help you" yes 9 1/2 please, she says ok I'll get someone over to assist you, wait what? I walk around and see 2 guys talking by the register assisting no one and the young lady is elsewhere. Poor Service = Poor Sales. No Urgency = Poor Sales. No Concern for providing service = A closed Location. This experience saved me $140, so thank you for that. read more

I came in needing to return shoes that I got as a gift! I called and the lady I talked to was SUPER sweet & was very understanding. I appreciated her honesty of not being sure if the return/ exchange can happen but to still come in and they can see what they can do. I came in 5 mins before closing (I hate doing that but I thought they closed at 8) & they had the best attitudes and didn't rush me out. The manager was able to switch the size for me & just was very understanding of the situation. I know a Costner coming in last minute is annoying, but they were happy to help & had the best attitudes. I wish I knew their names to give them the credit but whoever closed on 12/29 you guys are awesome. read more

This 5 star is for Isaac, smart guy, and deserves a promotion. I knew exactly what I wanted when I entered the store so went straight to the white pair I had on my mind for months. He approached me and very kindly asked if I needed anything. I asked for the 8.5. After a few minutes, he comes back with 3 pair. One was the size and style I asked for, one was a size up, "just in case", and the 3rd pair he said he brought because he thought "I might like to try them", and briefly explained that they're a more durable shoe. I knew he was probably upselling but he was super tactful, so after trying the first pair, which fit, I thought, "let's see what these are all about". I loved the way they looked right away (picture below), tried them on, and they felt better than the pair I went in for. He had also brought me a pair of vans bootie socks, and briefly explained they were concealed when on. Then he left and let me do my thing, never pressured. I took a good look at the socks and realized how nice they would be. So, in short, I bought the more durable shoe, and the socks, all because of the skillful and kind way Isaac presented them. Went today with my kids and mom. The guy working there deserves some recognition! I didn't catch his name but it was around 3 when we went. He measured and grabbed multiple pairs of shoes for my picky 4 year old, and all with a smile and very patient! I was impressed honestly. This VANS store has great customer service, which is MAJOR important to me. I've bought shoes here at the Esc. stop before & was so impressed with GIO who took great care of me & my needs. My daughter from Orange County was with me last time & ended up purchasing 2 pair of shoes. The store is clean, orderly, & GIO was very versed in everything VANS. I told him that I was impressed with him & would post our visit on YELP. He said that it would be nice if I did, but that it was more important to him that he take good care of us. Amazing customer service! They really go above and beyond to make their customers happy. From the minute my family walks in we are greeted and asked if we know what size we are. They measure my kids feet, and go as far as lacing up each pair for us. Good one on one interaction shows their employees are knowledgable of the brand. Everyone is always so nice and helpful. I have been twice in a month for back to school shopping for two girls and my irritation level is typically pretty high in retail stores since retail associates seem to care little and not be very well trained. OMG! I was blown away by the professionalism both times. They are a fine oiled team and work well in a fun, friendly and efficient environment. When they step off the floor to get a shoe they have a code word and they all work together very well. The Manager should be proud of her/himself. I could not be more impressed by their sincerity and desire to help. Way to go team! I hope the Regional Manager knows what they have here. She rushed my son and i through our shopping and everyone else besides her was thrilled to have my son there while she seemed super annoyed. They have all the coolest vans shoes and products but every time I go to this location there is a problem. I've been there times where they can't find the shoe in the back or they make you wait for a long time to tell you they don't have it and then when the shoe on the wall is my size they couldn't even find the left. Come on, and then I went in like 3 days ago and they didn't even have tools to set up a skateboard, yet they sell grip boards hard wear and wheels I have had it with this location and I pray someone important in the vans company reads this!
