Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant is a solid choice for anyone looking for a casual dining experience with decent food and drinks at reasonable prices. Their happy hour deals are definitely worth checking out, and the friendly service adds to the overall positive vibe. I would recommend it for a laid-back evening out!

Delicious food and yummy cocktails. I ordered the Mexican candy margarita and it's delicious if you like sweet drinks. The michelada just hit the spot perfectly. A fun atmosphere with the cooks singing in the back and we had excellent service. Same owners, cooks, and staff as Mi Ranchito just under a new name. Will definitely be back!

We love Mi Ranchito!!! They have the best house margarita in town. Thin crispy restaurant style chips, yummy vegetable, packed salsa, Mexican, music, playing overhead, festive decor, delicious food and a friendly staff. You can't beat me Ranchitos prices and delicious portions. We love Mi Ranchito. It is a family staple.

    The monstrous margarita tower.

Pretty disappointed that the Avocado Salsa is no longer served. One of the best things about this restaurant.

The inside of the restaurant is classic industrial, cozy, super casual, and has a fun upbeat vibe. Everyone serving in the restaurant at all different levels is very kind and friendly. When we sat down, we were brought the typical basket of tortilla chips, along with their homemade salsa... And an extra surprise was there Mini bowl of queso dip. It was creamy and yummy. The salsa wasn't as spicy as we prefer, but it was decent. Our sever took our drink rider which were margaritas. They have a very long list of all types of flavors of margaritas... Are you in the mood, this is a place to go! They also offer three different sizes in the margaritas, plus a ton of other drinks as they have a very large bar. It was a Saturday night, so It was pretty crowded, but there was not a wait for a table. Our waitress brought back our margaritas, but it took her over 35 minutes to get to our table to even take our dinner order. At least they brought us three baskets of chips to hold us over! After a little over a half hour, she came back to our table and asked us if we were still waiting for our food... We explained to her that she never actually took our dinner order to begin with. We ordered street tacos and jalepeno cream cheese ans chicken enchiladas... black beans and rice. Everything was tasty. We were starving at this point because it was almost an hour when our food arrived. She apologized for forgetting about us in between the tables served before us... It was worth it... however, we will order for take out next time. Waiting at our table and having 30 min between a margarita and a meal was too long for our liking.

Our server was very attentive and nice. They sang happy Birthday for my sister's birthday. The shrimp tacos dep Rio was good! Rice and beans were good too. I do want to mention that nothing in my shrimp tacos seemed seasoned. Like no pepper or anything. Shrimp was kinda bland and so were the veggies but still good. Absolutely loved the coconut margarita! Love that they put coconut around the rim too. Definitely will come back.

It's time for me to finally leave a review for El Maguey…read more I have been going to El Maguey for most of my life, at varying locations around Blue Springs and Independence. So many good memories of dining there with friends and family. Now, my husband and I live closest to this North Oak location, and it is our most visited and most reliable date night spot. We are literally NEVER disappointed. The food is always hot, delicious, and fresh. The margaritas are good. The service is friendly and fast. The vibes are just all around great. Having been going there for so many years and trying so many different dishes, I've landed on a favorite that I get every time, which is the quesadilla fajita (I get steak in mine.) My husband switches it up more often, but he always enjoys what he gets. There have been multiple nights where our previous dinner plans fell apart and we are starving and irritated, then we get to El Maguey and everything is immediately better. I love El Maguey so much, it is definitely my favorite restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Thank you El Maguey!!

Arriving on a taco Tuesday at 6pm to an empty restaurant probably should have been my first clue, but at this point still hoping I was in on something good and everyone else was just missing out (very wrong). First, $5 for chips and salsa - not always fun to pay for chips and salsa when most places don't charge, but I understand it. However, chips were on the stale side and the salsa, while flavorful, was very mild and way over salted. We couldn't enjoy much of it. I asked the server about taco Tuesday specials featured directly on their website, had to ask the question a couple different times before she landed on telling me they got a new pay system and since the deal wasn't in the system, she couldn't honor the deal. She also seemed confused, so I didn't push further. Ordered waters (never received them), house margaritas (not too sweet, generous, and strong - pretty great marg!) and street tacos (chicken, pastor, asada - all incredible dry and under seasoned, didn't taste like they had marinated in anything, I was genuinely baffled by this). My tacos came out a full 10 minutes before my friend's tacos (same exact taco order - and I'll remind you we're still the only people in the restaurant...). We then watched our server get a little upset with the cook while pointing to our table, so there were some interesting, public communication issues among the staff. Finally, when the time came to pay, they presented their tap system, where the server was walked me through my items and processed it, quickly selecting the tip amount on my behalf me and finalizing it before I could say anything. I asked her about the tip, she pointed to show me how much it was, and I shared that I understand that but she selected it for me. She laughed, said thanks, walked away. I wasn't planning to return based on the food, but the forced tip amount at the end of a pretty bad dinner experience was what really changed the tone of my review. I love local Mexican spots and I hope they read this and make some changes to their service. NKC is growing and I'd hate for them to fall flat among the other competitors doing a little more for their customers.
