Stopped in at 3:05pm on a Saturday and missed the lunch specials menu by a few minutes, so I ordered from the large 7 page glossy menu with color photos of category upon category of all the Tex-Mex standards. After receiving my water and complimentary chips and salsa, my waiter did not reimerge for quite some time. This was a bit off-putting since there were only 2 other occupied tables and he wasn't assisting them either. After consuming most of my chips (thin, flaky and adequate) and salsa (mild, watery and barely adequate) he returned to take my order of the pastor burrito for $13. He returned quickly this time with a piping hot plate that he placed at the edge of the table and left. Nothing like trying to move a 200 degree plate with your bare hands. That was the last time I saw my waiter until I went to the register to ask for my ticket to leave. My burrito was smaller than I was expecting for $13. The pork was so bland that I wouldn't have known if it was pastor, ground beef or asada if I had a blindfold taste test. The plate came with a side of rice and refried beans and a teaspoon of guac and sour cream upon a small bed of lettuce and pico. If this were 1989 and the price was $5.99, I would have no complaints, but with the plethora of Mexican joints serving amazing product in the city, this was just a sad meal with zero customer service. I hate tipping for lousy service (but I still do) when I could have had better service ordering at a walk-up counter and waiting for my number to be called. I'd forgotten how much I really like La Fuente's fajitas. I opted for a half order of the fajita nachos, sans tomatoes. The half order is generously proportioned, the carne asada tender and more than enough cheese sauce to coat the chips. The service was a bit slower and our server didn't remove any plates when we finished, but they were on the busier side for only allowed half capacity. (As a bonus, they serve the food on Homer Laughlin Fiestaware which is what I use at home and collect, so that small aspect always makes me happy!) read more

Service was not the best, took the waiter forever to take our order and to get us the check, he seemed to be all over the place but other waiters were attentive to their customers & there appeared to be a manager walking around but he didn't stop by any tables to check with the customers. The food came on a hot plate but the food itself was cold, not even mildly warm, had the El Gordo special. Salsa was mild & bland. I always eat at la fuenta at least once a week. Tied for is always good ad the prices are excellent. The biggest issue I usually have is they always forget my sour cream. Well today they brought me the wrong order and when I questioned them about and even pulled the menu up on line they told me the menu on line is different than the one in the restaurant. read more

I hated to even give this place one star. Just picked up my online order. Got back to work and was missing an item. I called them asking for reimbursement for that item. The manger argued with me and yelled at me that he did put the item in my order. He continued to argue and tell at me and then hung up on me. The chips and hot salsa are always the bomb! The service is doable but that kitchen is not cooking, I ordered an enchilada one second and 2 seconds later it was on the table. I hate to send food back so they get this review. So glad we stumbled upon this place! Highway 40 isn't particularly a hot bed for great cuisine but La Fuente is a total gem. The service was great and the food is tasty and authentic. The lunch specials are they way to go - large portions at a good price. We did the fajita quesadillas and chicken tacos, both had tons of meat and veggies. The salsa is amazing too! read more

Good place I get to go food from them almost every week. Most everything is good we get chimichangas a lot, carnitas are good too. I like the chips and salsa. Staff is nice but not really out going.
