This was one of our fav places to eat, driving in from Liberty once or twice a week. We arrived around 4:58. We both were wearing masks. Host wasn't wearing a mask. As he sat us we noticed no other servers were wearing masks as they usually do/did. We asked the old guy if any servers were wearing masks, his friendly disposition melted away stating, "No one is wearing a mask, We aren't required to wear a mask... I don't know what to tell you." And walks away. Kinda of a flip attitude. Our server Chris comes up, obviously told by the host that we have a problem with no servers wearing masks. The server approached us as if it were a joke. Watching how close he got to the table, pretty much mocking the situation and pretty rude. Even counting his steps back from the table. My partner asked if there was a problem and the server gave him a cocky look, stating "there's no problem". We were going to leave but decided to eat, since there. The check was basically thrown on the table. We paid. We tipped. We left. It's interesting when establishments mock their guests for being concerned about a life threatening illness that has killed almost a million people in this country. Hospitals are full and there are variants surfacing. Very very disturbing in this day and age. We won't be eating out nor waste our time at Mi Ranchito. We see the way they care for their concerned guests. And by the looks of how people act or treat others during a pandemic that causes people much anxiety when being in public, it most likely will be around for awhile, due to the ignorance we experienced at this establishment. read more

WOW! Our margaritas had us a little buzzed. They were strong and very good, too. Yep, they went down a little too easy. lol. I have been to this restaurant many times and I have never been disappointed. It is always busy, too, which is a great sign for any restaurant. This restaurant is close to my bestie's house and she, her hubs and I go here for an occasional dinner. We have never been disappointed. When I say this is a busy restaurant.. I mean very busy. There are people stuffed into tables and booths. There is always a wait but I would rather go to busy restaurants than quiet ones. Everyone seems nice and pleasant, though. We have never encountered any impatient or incorrigible people on our visits. The wait staff is cordial and helpful with suggestions. They are busy, though, and they do not take time to chit chat. They are focused on doing their job and doing it quickly. The staff is very efficient and they all seem to like working together. You just get a good vibe from the staff. As many times as we have been to Mi Ranchito, we have never had an incorrect order and that alone is amazing given their volume. Everything seems to run like clockwork. On one occasion my friend forgot her coupon at home. I pulled up one on my iPhone and was able to use it on the spot. The staff did not give me any hassle and we did not have to print it out or anything. I appreciate their willingness to work with us on this issue. The food is good and plentiful. It is always hot and fresh from the kitchen. Is the food amazing? No, not really. It is just run of the mill Mexican food. There is nothing extra special, out-of-this-world WOW about Mi Ranchito. Again, the food is satisfying and tasty. I have never had a bad meal here at all. The busy atmosphere and the many people that come here are testament to the quality of their food. There are many, many selections on the menu. There are so many choices that it is difficult to decide. They offer a range of foods from across the Mexican food palate and some are interesting offerings. All good, though! The food is reasonably priced and what you would expect from a restaurant of this nature. The free chips and salsa are delicious. I am not much on salsa and I like theirs very much. Hello, I have to say this place used to be good. It was our "To Go" place for years. But we went this past Friday evening 12/01/2023. To our surprise, we were expecting to be put on a waiting list which used to be the norm for Mi Ranchito. The place was nearly empty to our surprise it was 6 pm and no line. Well once we received our chips and salsa the answer became clear to us. The new tortilla chips are gross, thick, and hard, with no flavor, no salt, and they are baked! Baked tortilla chips, no. They used to be so thin and crispy and tasty. Then we ordered the Guac, nope, gross, no flavor, no salt, no lime, no cilantro all you taste is onion. Disgusting. I ordered my favorite Cheese enchiladas, no onions with beans and rice. Nope, the Enchilada sauce, was runny, tasteless, and definitely from a can. The beans were gross, they had no flavor, no salt, and were definitely from a can. The rice was bland and flavorless. How can you screw up rice? Either fire your new Chef or put the money back into quality products and food. If I wanted to go eat at Taco Bell I would have. It's gonna take a lot to get us to try Mi Ranchito again. If you going to market yourselves as a Mexican restaurant then take the time and effort to make proper Mexican food tor don't. What a shame. Without question, one of the worst restaurant food experiences ever. FIND ANOTHER MEXICAN RESTAURANT if you really want to eat Mexican. Service was baseline average - they have a system/process that gets food on the table, maybe not to the people that ordered it, but at least to the table. But don't expect them to come back and check on you. And don't expect them to deal with any problems because they'll just give you a blank stare. I ordered chicken fajitas and a margarita. Chewy, overcooked chicken atop sizzling but undercooked onions with two slices of undercooked peppers as garnish (You know you want an even amount of peppers and onions in your fajitas, right? Imagine one slice of pepper and undercooked onions. So. Gross. Rice was dry, and maybe a tablespoon of sour cream and a little less of pico. Even though I was starving, I couldn't finish it. A companion ordered enchiladas and couldn't eat any of it, it was so gross. Another companion got sick a couple hours later from eating Mi Ranchito's crap food. The grande margarita was watered down. And even though I returned to plates of untouched food to the waiter, indicating it was terrible, they didn't comp anything. This place will take your money and give you stomach cramps. It's like they aren't even trying here. Maybe you don't have any other options in Gladstone. Seriously, go to Taco Bell. I'd say go to Chili's but their food sucks just as bad, but their service sucks worse. AVOID AT ALL COSTS OR YOU WILL NOT HAVE A GOOD TIME. read more

Really disappointed with this visit. We happened to find this place once and loved it! This time my parents came for a visit and wow, what a disappointment. The service was horrendous. It took 40 minutes for our food to come out and when it did, two of our orders were wrong. My dads was completely wrong so he had to wait another 15 minutes for his! Then they didn't Comp anything! No visit from a manager either. Really bad customer service. The only reason for 2 stars is because the guacamole is amazing, black beans a beautifully seasoned, food overall is yummy, and portions are great. I called to place a call in order and when I went to pick it up there was No order for me, then the male that took my order called his name after giving me a hard time about giving me a total for my order he wanted to give me an estimate total instead of my original total. Never coming back. I'm not sure what's happened, but there has been a steady decline in service and food quality. My family has regularly eaten here for the last two years. Approximately 3 months ago we had our first experience with SUPER SLOW SERVICE...almost non existent. The next time - the food came out at such weird intervals that most had finished their meals before the rest of our party had been served. No apologies; just the server explaining that they were short staffed. Tonight was the last straw. First. The hostess sat us at a table in the bar that still had a plate of food for on it. She said, "it's just a plate, the table is clean." What???? She moved the fajita plate to the table next to us. We sat for some time. Various staff side-eyed us, but did not acknowledge that we perhaps wanted FOOD?!? Finally I asked the hostess (who was on snap chat) if we had a server. She didn't answer me, but rolled her eyes and walked away. The wall she disappeared behind erupted with arguing voices over who had our table. So we sat some more. The bartender brought us chips and salsa. He was genuinely nice and smiley. But then it was crickets again. Seriously. What is happening? FINALLY A server came over and took our order. hallelujah! Cool. Food came and my plate was piping hot. Things looked great. First bite...cold steak. Ugh. Sent it back. The manager brought it back 2 mins later...still not hot. By the time they remade my food, my family had finished theirs. During my down time, I got to enjoy the two hostesses chatting, making themselves mixed drinks, and snap chatting. OH!..and they moved the fajita plate to another table. I think I counted x3 fajita moves total! I hope it makes it to the kitchen at some point this evening because that's gross. We finally decided to stop by and give this place a try. I have many fond memories at this location because it used to be a ponderosa when I was a child. We were greeted promptly at the door seeded and given menus instantly. Our waitress Jessica was absolutely phenomenal. She was on point with everything refills, checking in on us and everything. A huge fan of Mexican food, I regard Mi Ranchito as a particular favorite! The food is delicious, the variety excellent, and the prices quite reasonable. It is REAL Mexican, such as I recall from a particular place in Detroit in my childhood. The staff is very welcoming, and the service is great. I brought in a party of 8 on short notice right at dinner time, and they accommodated us without difficulty. Then tonight, while my daughter and I were there, they had some difficulty with their credit card connection; within a few minutes, the manager came over and apologized, even though the delay was less than 10 minutes. Our party of 5 each had something different and they were all delicious! They do not know the difference between call & well drinks. I got bourbon, my partner isn't sure what is mixed with his cranberry. Their stuffed avacado is bland w/very little ckicken or cheese. We put salsa on to flavor it up. I had the Pollo Pablano, it came w/rice & black beans & a strange broccoli (not cut up) zucchini & mushroom cheese sauce. My partner stuck with a traditional Pollo Fajitas . Overall great food, sucky bar and if you are not a traditional Spanish speaker, bring someone who does. read more

Third time here. First two times were awesome. This time was terrible. Service was pretty nonexistent and she finally decided to come back when we're just about done. By that time my cup was waiting to be refilled for 15 min and that is after I told another worker that I'd like a refill. My hubby said his food was stale which it probably was. Kansas City, you've been holding back on me. Who knew there was a nearby place serving darned good Mexican food at reasonable prices? Went for lunch here today and really enjoyed the experience. The first thing I look for when entering a new Mexican restaurant is how are their chips? (And a pox upon their house to the place that doesn't even serve them!) Mi Ranchito has the nice thin type I love, plus they come with this very tasty green sauce, in addition to the usual red salsa. There are a number of lunch specials to choose from, all for the very reasonable price of 5.99. I had a taco and enchilada plate, along with the requisite rice and beans. Both those sides were excellent. My taco was nice and crunchy, with very tasty beef. I liked that the taco wasn't super greasy like a lot of restaurant tacos can be. The chicken inside my enchilada was very moist, tender, and yummy. We were seated quickly and our waiter was very attentive. I'll definitely return to this place. read more

I absolutely love this place! The staff is friendly and the food is ridiculously authentic. We live close so we frequent it. Every time we've gone we've had fantastic service. One time we went on a super busy Friday night but we still got a table for 8 in less than 30 minutes. The manager gave us a huge plate of loaded nachos for the "delay" which was no delay. ...and the salsas and dips?! If Heaven has a Mexican restaurant, this is the salsa they serve. I could drink the salsa verde straight and my husband, my picky eater daughter always scrape the bowl when we order espinaca. Lastly, my favorite dish is their pork burrito. The portion is enough for three meals. read more

I've been to other Mi Ranchito locations and had a decent experience. After visiting this location I will think twice before returning. We did call ahead seating but when we arrived we had to wait 40 min for our table. I decided to get a drink from the bar while waiting. I approached the bar and no one acknowledged me or asked for my drink order. I finally got someone's attention and gave him my order. He then started to take Togo orders on the phone and never made my drinks. I asked him again if he was going to make them and he didn't remember what I ordered so I told him again. After 15 min I finally got drinks and continued to wait for table. After sitting down I order appetizers. Cheese dip and friend avocado. The server came back and informed me they were out of avocado. So we just got cheese dip. It was fine. We had ordered our food and quite some time had passed (45 minutes?) and still no food. The server finally came over and apologized for the wait. Another 45 minutes goes by and still no food. A manager never came to table so I flagged the server down and she apologized again. I ordered a round of tequila shots for the table and asked for limes. The food came out finally. Then the shots, but no limes. I asked for some and she said they were out. No limes or avocado. I'm not sure what happened there that night but I left very unpleased. read more

It's a good sign when the parking lot is almost full most nights, so I decided to give this place a try. After a couple of visits, I will say this is a mediocre place - nothing really stands out. I do like that management here is visible and friendly! They've stopped us both times on our way out to ask about our experience. We dined in the regular section and again at the bar for Taco Tuesday. We had fairly new servers who seemed intimidated by the busy sections. They could have easily sold my date a couple more beers had they been around more often to notice. The under $2 per chicken taco was bland, so I added lime and plenty of hot sauce. The guacamole appetizer, too, was bland (What? I know, maybe my taste buds were off, but I would've added some more salt, lime, garlic, chile pepper...) The best part to start you off is the free salsa dip with warm chips. There are a few more Mexican joints along North Oak that I still need to try, so it'll be awhile Mi Ranchito. I have eaten there several times no issues. Even go there often for lunch since it's next door to my work. But tonight I went with my family and ordered tacos. I over hear the lady behind me say she didn't want the salsa because she found a hair in it. So when I got my food I inspected it. Didn't see anything. I took a bite of my 2nd taco and bit down on something hard. I look and there is an entire toothpick in my mouth. Almost stabbing the back of my throat. Apparently I didn't inspect my food very well. Manager took my food off my bill but didn't show concern. 6 hours later my upper and bottom teeth are in pain. My co-workers go there often and I will make sure to tell my coworkers about the incident. I won't be back. Corporate pretended to care but no follow up. read more

Once I was seated and knew what I wanted...my server Sarai was amazing !! Great food, great flavor, great staff, and great prices !!!! I hate giving one star. I really do. But there is no excuse for you, Mi Ranchito. Our wait was atrocious. Our server unattentive and bad (after waiting ten minutes for refills, she apologized that she forgot because she was washing dishes......kinda gross). And the food....... let's just say that my pork burrito was a pork chop wrapped in a tortilla - and a poorly cooked pork chop at that. On the plus side, our margaritas were actually pretty good. I normally am a fan of mi ranchito, however, this location has issues. Ordered the stuffed jalapeños and cheese dip as an appetizer. Cheese dip came out right away, with a small handful of chips, which quickly went away. Waitress was no where to be found to ask for more chips. Wife ordered a frozen margarita, got it on the rocks. 20 minutes in, still no chips or appetizer. Oh look, here comes our food. Included in the food was the appetizer. I told the food runner, we didn't want the appetizer at this point since our food was ready. He looked at me and said "I don't know what you want me to do about that". The manager came over and said she was sorry about that and would take them off the ticket, which did NOT happen. My father had the fajita burrito, chicken, peppers, and onions. Or in this case, all onions. Seriously, a burrito shell filled with onions. He told the waitress and she said "what you didn't want extra onions?" The manager came by and said "and?" My wife had taquerias, oh and several large pieces of plastic. I had a chicken burrito, half the chicken was good. The other half was so rubbery, I questioned if it were cooked. It was, however, I'm guessing left over from another plate and microwaved for my meal. As we left we over heard 3 other tables discussing all the issues with their meals as well, from wrong meals, wrong drinks and bad service. I've never had these issues at other locations, but I'll never got back to this one. read more
