GRADE: F- for Greg Bernfeld (owner) and Vautrin Auto Services, Inc. Greg Bernfeld (hereinafter; "The BERNFELD") has no clue on how to fix cars. He is this little passive, soft spoken guy, who makes false representations. His repairs are incomplete. The BERNFELD represents he stands behind his workmanship, after any conventional warranty, yet, when I returned two days later, for a missing dash part, that he failed to reinstall, (which I paid for in full for him to diagnosis and reassemble), he failed to install the light into the dash. I immediately brought this to his attention and he said, "I cant fix it now because I am too busy." Can you fix it tomorrow? "No," The BERNFELD responded. No urgency to correct his botched workmanship, because the BERNFELD had gotten paid in full days earlier. I left a message on the BERNFELDS voicemail demanding that he make the repairs immediately (giving him a kick in the A$$), and he did, but with a PUSS and a hostile attitude. The BERNFELD also earns a grade of F-, for breaking my hazard light switch in the dash and not bringing it to my attention, attempting to conceal it. The BERNFELD, also failed to make the repairs that he agreed to make on the list that I handed to him. The BERNFELD keeps the customers cars, for weeks and months on end, and gives the excuse that he is too busy to get to the repair. The BERNFELD is also regarded as; "Greg B U R N feld" because he burns the public. The BERNFELD also worked on my brakes, and the brake lights went on suddenly and stayed on indefinitely thereafter. When I called him and alerted him to the brake lights staying on, the BERNFELD, got into a shouting match, refused to look at the brake light problem, putting my family and other motorists in harms way. The BERNFELD then cited my voice mail message as offensive "to him," and that he no longer wanted anything to do with us, because Greg Bernfeld of Vautrin Auto Service, Inc., feelings were hurt that I called him to the carpet to make a repair under warranty, tomorrow, rather than when ever the hell he got around to it. The BERNFELD, appears to be a mild mannered mechanic, but he is anything but. He is unethical, dishonest, does not stand behind his sub par work, gets into arguments with customers, to avoid them and attempt to invalidate their warranties, etc. The Bernfeld, is a WOLF's in SHEEPS Mechanics uniform. When the BERNFELD'S workmanship is defective, he does not take ownership of it. Stand back at the end of the line. read more

First time customer. Made an appointment for Monday and dropped car off Sunday evening (using key drop). Greg performed all work requested - diagnosed Check Engine light and replaced fuel/air ratio sensor; oil and filter change; repaired a slow tire leak caused by corroded rim; topped off fluids. Car was ready same day. Greg called me and explained what was done as well as his warranty policy. It's tough to find a reliable mechanic. Greg clearly understands the value of his brand and I sense he is committed to doing the right thing. read more

True, my last review was glowing until the damage was uncovered this time around and we realized that the repairs were never, ever done, as in I and the insurance company were summarily ripped off. I, literally drove an unsafe vehicle around for 2 years, w/o knowing. How could I? The after market bumper hid the fact that the bumper itself remained damaged and the tie bar was bent as well. His so called repair guy attempted to pull it back using hand tools, and it seems it was done by more than one person. As I said, there's a photographic record of this including the cover up which I never would have been informed of. The vehicle was in worse shape than when it went in. The good news is, at least the prior damage and lack of repair(s) was discovered and my vehicle is now road worthy. Of course I was irate, my car looked as if it had been in an accident when it was theoretically repaired. Cheers! Again, I say this was nothing more than a sham. read more

I was recently referred by a coworker of mine; she promised this place was great. Unfortunately, that was anything but the experience I had. I was told I needed a bunch of things replaced after my car was taken for a test drive. I originally brought it in because it had been making these "not your normal wear and tear" noises. I was told I needed $800 worth of work and it was advised I don't drive around like that as the issue could become worse. So I spent the $800, got my car fixed (the list of things I was told needed to be done) and took my car home. The first problem was I was not notified that my car was all set after being worked on, I had to call the shop twice to find out it was sitting in the parking lot for an entire weekend. The woman who deals with the phone calls and scheduling was very unpleasant and unprofessional. For a new customer, I was shocked how she handled the call. The second problem came not even a week later. My car was making the same noises that I had originally brought it in for. I called Greg and told him I was having a problem and that I couldn't' understand why, he said to me he didn't have time to look at it as he was very busy but that he was sure it was normal. So I decided to take it in to a completely different repair shop and get a "second opinion". After being charged a $50 diagnostic fee, I was told that I needed the same exact things that I had just spent $800 to have replaced a week prior! I called Greg fuming, explaining what had happened. Again, he had told me he didn't have time to look at it but that I could leave it over a weekend and he would look at then. So once again, I dropped it off only to be told a few things needed to be tightened! The noise went away for about another week only to do the same thing once again. I finally had to pay another shop to replace what I was told was originally replaced. Truly unfortunate that someone would take your money and let you drive around in an unsafe car, after you trusted them to do the right thing. WHAT A SCAM!! I WOULD NEVER REFER ANYONE TO THIS PLACE!
