Wiz Kid Cheesesteak (Happy Hour special only)
    Stan H.

Delicious food and flavorful drinks. They never get it wrong here for me. Regular prices are pricy- so I don't personally come here a lot, but very classy presentation. Vedge really understands vegan food as an art form. They will release another cook book in November and I believe that you can pre-order it now. Some vegans may not like this place because of the small portions and a few things might remind them too much of meat but many others like myself do not mind that part at all. Staff is always very friendly here. Happy hour Specials cannot be taken to go unfortunately. The healthiest vegan cheesesteak I ever had with the fresh half medium cucumber. The same owners of Vedge attempted to start up Wiz Kid and this vegan cheesesteak was one of Wiz Kid's most classic items I believe. I never had a chance to try a piece of Wiz Kid until today. You still have two more happy hours left to try this treasure after the initial date of this review of September 10, 2025! My favorite vegan cheesesteak is Joe's personally still and some vegans might be afraid to go there because they do serve meat there too.

What I ate: Spicy Dan Dan noodles - chewy noodles, sesame sauce and spicy. Wish I had bread or rice to soak up the remaining sauce Mushroom carpaccio - thinly sliced mushrooms that pairs well with fennel curls Idk what the dessert name was but- but the peach crumble cake with caramel and sage ice cream is a must. Why you want to eat here: Service! Very responsive to allergies and questions on ingredients even before you dine there. Super accommodating from the start to the end. Very pleasant server. Fine dining Ambiance - low light so you can't read the menu if you have eye problems lol. One of the restrooms is ADA but I'm not sure how you can get up the front stairs....

WOW! Have been wanting to come again. They have a tasting menu that rotates monthly that you can get instead of a la carte options. They usually recommend 3 a la carte options per person which I feel was good (could get away with 1 less if ordering dessert too). Food came out quickly so is a fast dining experience especially if you do not order dessert. Also have alcoholic beverages and some non alcoholic options.

Incredible experience for vegans and anyone who likes unique food! I had a Saturday night reservation for my friend's bachelorette party and the staff was incredible. They were totally booked so definitely recommend a reservation. There is no designated parking but there could be street parking if you're lucky, and there's garages nearby. My friends and I got the tasting menu which is really the way to go - it's a 6-8 course meal where you get to try all their best stuff. Do note that in order to do the tasting menu, everyone in your party has to do it- not sure I saw that on the website or menu, so that could be made more clear. All of the food is plant based and totally transformed like nothing you've ever seen before. I am a meat eater and thought everything was phenomenal - from presentation to variety to flavors, Vedge had it all. They also had an extensive drink menu with cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer, and spirits. I believe their tasting menu rotates seasonally so it's definitely a place you can return to and get something new. Shout out to the staff who made our bride feel extra special!! Highly recommend this incredible Philly spot for anyone who wants a unique and tasty dining experience.

Terrific tastes at Vedge. Mushroom carpaccio, squash something, and choco dessert were lovely. But a soup spoon w the small dessert was a mismatch (details count). Nice vibe and delish!

Amazing! This is a premier place in the city for a reason. What comes out of the kitchen is phenomenal! The rutabaga fondu is a delightful appetizer. It was served with a soft pretzel and pickles. Could have easily had 3 more orders of this. The stuffed avocado with crispy rice was a texture explosion. Oh my gosh! Delicious! I ordered the grilled tofu, and my dining partners ordered the Dan Dan noodles and the campfire carrot! Outstanding! Honestly, I can't imagine having this much talent and giftedness transforming beautiful fresh food into the flavor bombs that made it to our table. And the entire staff was wonderful! We were offered hangars for our coats, a seat at the bar while waiting for our table with service from a talented and friendly bartender (order the headbanger! So wonderful) and were seated at a cozy booth in the well designed comfortable converted row home. I would be absolutely remiss not to mention Joseph as our server. Calm, kind, 100 % knowledgeable of every dish that came to our table and so gentle when prompted for his "opinion" of dishes we were considering ordering. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and he delivered the most delicious gooseberry sorbet with a candle and made our night feel so special. Honestly, he was a star. And I must add, order the cheesecake. I think it has completely changed my longing for cheesecake forever, because the classic, made with non-vegan ingredients will forever pale in comparison to what I tasted last night. This place does the Philly-food-scene so proud!

This is the fine dining place that serves 4 course menu with wine pairing. I had full satisfaction to continue my gourmet journey as vegan here, as hardly any vegetarian restaurants offer wine pairing, but Vedge did it, and did it really well. I loved the rutabaga fondu, creamy but not greasy. The soft pretzel is exceptional. Then the pickles added perfect amount of acidity. I think it's pretty unique, highly recommended. I picked charred squash and carrots as second and third course, as I wanted to try them with dry and heavy wine. The pairing was awesome. I had Ginny's freezer martini, which was the least sweet on the menu. Love the subtle taste, very nice! Services and ambiance are top notch. The waiter is very knowledgeable and patient. He went above and beyond to respond my inquiries on wine pairing. 5 + star!!

Dining at Vedge is always an elevated experience! The wait staff is always so professional and knowledgeable and the menu never disappoints! It's typically recommended to get 2-3 dishes per person but my partner and I did 3 dishes and 1 dessert and were very satisfied! The cocktails are delicious and light and all of the food is so beautifully prepared and bursting with a variety of flavors! Always a treat to go here!

@vedgephiladelphia is a vegetable-focused fine dining restaurant by James Beard-nominated chefs Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby. For us, it's the gold standard and pinnacle of Philly vegan fine dining -- every dish delights, every visit unforgettable. A must‑visit. We ordered à la carte, though they also offer a tasting menu. For drinks, we enjoyed Saratoga sparkling water, hubby had a Manhattan (extra cherry ), and I sipped the GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS -- gin, strawberry, fennel, vegan campari, and coconut milk. It tasted like a Pink Drink -- and it was divine. For dinner, we shared: RUTABAGA Fondue with today's soft pretzel & yesterday's pickles All of the CORN -- crisp hominy fritters, black pepper grits, esquites, and "birria" gravy Charred BROCCOLI Steak with low-country creamed turnip rice, horseradish butter, and turnip chow chow Spicy Dan Dan Noodles -- black vinegar glazed trumpet mushrooms, sesame, and mala pepper Blackened TOFU -- runner bean & okra étouffée, refried quinoa salad, and Tabasco vinaigrette Each dish delivered bold flavors and thoughtful textures, making it an unforgettable meal.

Where do I even begin... this is the kind of place where every bite is an explosion of taste. It's hard to put in into words - all I want to say is book a reservation immediately and prepare to be blown away. The fondue with the pretzel was the most convincing cheese I have ever tasted, and my non vegan boyfriend who has hated all vegan cheese agreed - he couldn't get enough. the ambiance, atmosphere... this place couldn't get any better and is definitely en route to a Michelin star. Congratulations to the entire team - I rarely leave a review but this place absolutely deserves 5 stars and more!! Side note, my boyfriend put in our res that it was a late Valentine's celebration and they gave us free heart cookies with sprinkles to celebrate the occasion, amazing service!

had the tasting menu. Literally a divine experience. My server was hilarious and quirky and brilliant. The food itself was astonishing and revelatory. And as a lifelong vegetarian/vegan, it was beyond heavenly to be able to just eat everything without having to think about it or worry. But that doesn't even really matter here. It's just beautiful food.

Great ambiance and service. We opted for the three course menu plus dessert. It was a lot of food. The food is well prepared and presented, with the right amount of seasoning. We had: Smoked Portobello - delicious Stuffed Avocado - delicious Delicata Squash - delicious with a kick Beets - delicious Campfire Carrots - ok Fried Tofu - ok Chocolate Custard - amazingly delicious Pumpkin Bread - good It's wonderful to see such elevated vegetarian food.

Came here to celebrate my friend's (who's vegetarian) birthday on a Saturday night. The interior of the restaurant is very charming, almost like you're walking into someone's home, with fireplaces and a homey kitchen. The servers were extremely attentive and let us take our time deciding what to get: We went with the portobello carpaccio (thinly sliced mushrooms, served cold), the rutabaga fondue (served with bread-like pretzel), and spicy Dan Dan noodles. The fondue was my favorite - it was unlike anything I've ever tasted, but so good. We also got one of their desserts (I forget the name), which came out with a candle. Came out to about $50 pp, which we very reasonable given the quality.

Are there heaters outside for the outdoor dining?

I'm not vegan myself but a good friend is, lynch or dinner herer?

Either dude. I'm a carnivore and I like the food here. Lunch will prob be less expensive if that's a concern and get the rutabaga fondue. It's a must.

    Which items are organic?

not recalling that is notated......might need to call them. let us know if you find out???

Looks great! Are there any dishes that are NOT prepared with concentrated oils (olive, canola, palm, etc.) in them? This would include anything deep fried (in oil). I follow a Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB) diet and try to avoid concetrated oils.

Yes! My son-in-law recently had a serious heart attack and is following a strict plant-based diet that does not use oil of any sort. They were able to accommodate him with a delicious, satisfying meal.

We ordered the Peruvian yuca and sweet plantains to split. I'm not a huge fan of aji amarillo and felt there was too much of it (I would've preferred it on the side), so the yuca wasn't my favorite dish, but it was still a solid appetizer. The sweet plantains were delicious, a classic, and exactly what I expected. The aioli was also nice, balancing out the sweetness. For my entree, I ordered the oyster mushroom tacos with the citrus salad. The oyster mushrooms were perfectly fried, but I felt like they were the slightest bit bland and I didn't love that there weren't any sauces to go with them. The citrus salad is interesting in that the "citrus" is a lemon-based dressing(?), but it's actually mostly tomatoes.

It's playful and cool and fun all at the same time. The staff here? Wildly accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable about their menu, and also exceptional at "reading the room" (eg we were given lots of space to just eat and drink without them checking in us needlessly). DRINKS: I had the Zombie Beach Party (coconut rum, light rum, pineapple, blue curacao, lime). It was a neon blue boozy slushy served in a glass skull topped a little pink umbrella and the juxtaposition of that alone is iiiiiiiiiincredible. (Also these are dangerous; I had two and they went down a little too easily, y'know?). FOOD: At our server's recommendation we got a half order of the Korean BBQ Wings (which were described as "very spicy") and the Tiki Wings ("kind of sweet"). Both are made from crispy seitan and are served with a cucumber ranch. I think they were okay, they kind of tasted similar to be honest, and the Korean wings were definitely not that spicy. We also got the Yokai Fries (fries topped with shishito peppers, togarishi, and yum yum sauce); sooooooo moreish! But ask for more yum yum sauce. The absolute killer (pun intended) here was the fried mac and cheese balls. NO MATTER WHAT, GET THESE. It comes in an order of two, they're tennis ball sized, the mac and cheese is not dry but gooey, the tomato sauce and generously sprinkle of parm bring the whole thing together. I'm fairly confident I could have eaten an order by myself (just like I'm fairly confident I could have had four Zombie Beach Parties). You ARE going out of your way to come here if you find yourself in Philly, friends!

So, we started with the Mac balls and seitan Korean wings. Our apps arrived and I must admit. I enjoyed the seitan wings more than I did the Mac balls. The Korean BBQ (seitan) wings had an amazing sauce that truly made me forget I was at a vegan restaurant. They were crispy, savory, and just delicious. I decided to go with the gyro and my partner went with the cheese steak for his entree. My gyro was yummy! The impossible beef, lettuce and tomato were reminiscent of a regular gyro. The menu reads like something you've never seen before, with nearly every dish bragging some mind-blowingly sophisticated element, such as fermented chili aioli, kombu oil, vegan xo sauce, and noyaux (peach pits). Overall, the food was delicious, but these unique touches didn't come through in the dishes. Here is a rundown of everything we tried: - Sourdough focaccia with tomato xo: great focaccia that would have been excellent enough without all the adornment (abundant sesame and poppyseeds, kind of evoking an "everything bagel" vibe plus super salty "tomato xo" sauce that was a lot like sun-dried tomato paste). - Gem lettuces salad with smoked olives: the smokes olive bits were the best part. The dressing tasted a lot like blue cheese and was a little overly creamy but very tasty. - Golden beet salad with fermented chili aioli, young chard, and crispy sunchokes: the dressing was a lot closer to straight up mayonnaise than anything resembling fermented chili. Overly creamy, with leftover tuna salad vibes. The chard and sunchokes were fun additions, but overall this dish was underwhelming for what seems to be one of their specialties. - Cantaloupe with habanada and fermented husk cherry vinaigrette: we were expecting this dish to blow our minds, but it wound up tasting like cantaloupe sprinkled with chipotle veganaise. And it was very difficult to eat out of the flat bowl. - Heirloom tomatoes with roasted tomato jus, kombu oil, and basils: the tomatoes were delicious but it was insanely salty, and the kombu flavor didn't really come through. - Grilled escarole braised with heirloom lima beans, roasted garlic, and sage: I adored the two colors of heirloom lima bean that were perfectly cooked. The creamy sauce made with puréed lima beans was rich and felt like worthwhile decadence. My husband was the only one at our table to dislike this dish for being overly creamy and not having enough sage or escarole flavor. - Durum tagliatelle with datterini tomato sauce with braised lobster mushrooms: tasty but unremarkable. - Rosa bianca eggplant smoked and served with nardello pepper harissa, cashew labneh, and fennel pollen roasted walnuts: the harissa was so salty that it dominated all the other flavors. This might have been better as a dip served on crostini. - Black pearl mushroom slowly grilled over coals and served with roasted corn, spinach, and chanterelle miso glaze: the mushroom was tasty, but the corn was downright confusing. It was extremely sweet, and so creamy it evoked canned cream of corn soup. - Peanut mousse bar: like an elevated Snickers, but without the crunch. We loved it. - Peach pit white chocolate semifreddo: we did not know what to expect from this dish, but we were disappointed that we couldn't identify any white chocolate. It was like a soy milk popsicle with almondy flavor. Would not get this again. In summary, we had a blast trying everything on the menu, but we felt that most dishes fell short of their potential, based on the premium local produce and the novel flavors and cooking techniques. Without a doubt, they are using high-quality, hyperlocal ingredients on their entire menu. Unfortunately, they are not letting those products speak for themselves, but instead are drowning them in too much salt and excessively creamy sauces. I'm not sure if this was an attempt to appeal to people who aren't big fans of vegetables/macrobiotic foods. Also, a word on the setup of the menu. The "tasting menu" really just means share plates of each dish, intended to be for a party of two. If you have a larger party, it makes more sense to get a full-sized dish of each item à la carte, although some of the dishes are not the easiest to share, such as the escarole and lima bean stew and the eggplant dish. Everything is extremely seasonal, changing from week to week, so it would be fun to return and try a whole new lineup of dishes.

My boyfriend and I walked in on a Saturday night for a celebration dinner. They were very busy and…read morethey didn't have any open reservations but when we called and told them we would arrive in 30 mins, they saved two of the bar seats for us. For drinks, we ordered the elderflower shrub and sanguinello to drink. I liked the elderflower shrub since it was sweet and refreshing (slightly carbonated) but the sanguinello tasted bitter and medicinal. Since my bf really didn't like his drink, the server was nice enough to let us change our amaro drink to another elderflower shrub. For food, we ordered sourdough focaccia with tomato xo sauce (similar to chili crisp oil) and the potatoes dish. The sourdough was fluffy and delicious and the xo sauce gave it a nice flavor but it did make the bread greasy. The potatoes dish tasted good because of the creamy sauce that was drizzled on top. We also ordered the kyuri cucumbers and durum ravioli. The kyuri cucumbers had a fermented ramp ranch that gave the cucumbers a nice creaminess and the garnishes (spring onion and giardiniera) gave the cucumbers a nice texture. The durum ravioli had a cheesy taste due to the cultured cashew ricotta but I wasn't a fan. Overall, we would order the potatoes and cucumbers again, maybe we would order the sourdough focaccia (if you don't mind the greasiness), but we wouldn't order the durum ravioli again. For dessert, we ordered the macadamia ice cream with strawberries, shaved ice with rhubarb, and basil. Even though the ice cream was unique, we also wouldn't order it again. The basil flavor was a bit strong and the dessert tasted mostly like macadamia nuts and strawberries rather than ice cream. The ambience was nice though and even though we were not able to get a table, we had a nice view of the chefs' cooking. We would come here again since the menu changes based on what's in season. It was my second time at Pietramala and it was my boyfriend's first time and it won't be our last. :)

I do recommend making a reservation as they can be pretty slammed on Fridays/weekends. The Srirachi wings had a nice crunch to them while still keeping the chicken juicy inside. It would've been nice to have an even amount of wings to drumsticks though, as I like flats more, but thats just a personal preference. The crabmeat fried rice was amazing, a really good portion of chunks of crabmeat mixed in so each spoonful had some. The duck curry was a "Grandma's special" so a much bigger portion and cost - but reasonable. The duck wasnt dry and had a good flavor throughout, not relying on the curry to give taste. The curry also had a hint of sweetness to it which complements the greasiness of the duck. The papaya salad felt very refreshing - we got it at level one as to not overpower our taste buds with all the other food. I did get some chili pepper on the side to add in later. My one recommendation is having Thai peppers as an option instead of dried chili flakes. I much prefer the taste of fresh Thai pepper to add the extra heat. The mango sticky rice is always a favorite. The mango is soft and ripe, the right amount of sweetness. They also mix pandan in with the sticky rice for a more impactful umami (Im also a big advocate for pandan in desserts).

Came here while we were craving some good Thai food and was able to get a reservation online quite…read moreeasily. Once we arrived, it was super busy and it took a bit of time to get our orders in. We ordered a variety of dishes to try out, starting with the crispy chive cakes. I love chive cakes, but these were much softer than I anticipated. I still loved the flavor and dipping sauce. We also ordered a medium spicy papaya salad, but it didn't taste like ours had any spice at all which was a little disappointing. Then we tried the Khao soi, which was a gigantic portion and very delicious, I truly had no complaints there. Lastly, we had the chicken satay skewers, delicious especially with the two sauces they included with it, and their duck, an absolutely amazing and giant dish that was covered with a tangy and sweet sauce. Overall, we enjoyed the food a lot; the only reason I'm rating this lower was the service. Our bill had two extra dishes on it that we didn't order, making our total super high. We asked to have these removed, but then they told us that we had already ordered these dishes and that they were on the way. We clarified a second time that we didn't order these two dishes and then finally got the right receipt. Our server was sweet and apologized, but for their high menu prices, I wasn't too thrilled with this experience.
