This cafe is a hot mess with their Groupon deals. I came on a Sunday to use my Groupon that was set to expire 9/24/25 and noticed a big sign on the register claiming they aren't accepting them anymore and to contact Groupon for a refund. Fare enough right??? Wrong! I put a claim with Groupon and got a reply back that there is an ongoing investigation for Vees. I get an email today saying they rectified the issue and Vees is honoring Groupons again. Wrong! Called the number to ask and the gentleman who answered said NO and they removed themselves from Groupon! Can someone just give me my money back?'!!! Vees Café is such a gem in the middle of DTLA. I'll mention this first, as it's super rare in DTLA - they provide free parking (!!!), which is a godsend here and immediately makes the experience more relaxed. You walk up to the counter to order, and since the menu is big, I'd recommend scoping it out beforehand if it's busy. The staff is helpful, though, and guided us through a couple of choices. We split a Strawberry Lemonade, which was super refreshing, and also had some of their infused water. For food, I went with the Vees Butterfly Pasta. It came with a rich, creamy sauce, plenty of fresh cheese on top, and shrimp that paired beautifully with the dish. The bread provided was delish and just right for soaking up the extra sauce. I loved the colorful little flower on top, too. Gave the dish a great extra pop of color. My wife had the California Wrap, which was light, fresh, and tasty, without being too heavy. She was also a big fan of the fries, which she said were cooked just right. Both meals felt satisfying and well-balanced. The restaurant itself has a laid-back, modern atmosphere that makes it perfect for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Service was friendly and attentive, and the whole place felt welcoming and clean. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to make pricing a little more visible, maybe with a wall menu or some printed menus up front for people to look through before ordering. Considering how long I waited for my food for a to go order I would've thought my food would've been hot off the grill. It was lukewarm at best, which is kind of crazy. I asked for no tomatoes, and my receipt states no tomatoes yet I was still given tomatoes, which irritated me on my omelette. I got a side of pancakes and mediocre at best very thick and kind of chalky. My potatoes really had no seasoning, for $35 I didn't feel satisfied. I won't be returning. The venue will give you a validation voucher so you don't have to pay. This place is huge! And can accommodate about 50 people or more . Love that the place is quiet and the back music is not loud. I haven't had a chorizo panini anywhere else, so I can't really compared it or say I had better. However, it being my first I know it will not be my last. Lastly, the drink.... Omg! This was the wordy experience. We went particularly because my daughter wanted a parfait as it was on the menu seen on yelp. But they didn't have yogurt. So we ordered something else. Like toast. The girl looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for a refund of my 15 dollar parfait. Then said she couldn't refund me. I ordered Chilaquiles Divorciados which were good quality and a little too spicy for me. I usually like spicy but it was a tad too spicy for me. I'm a matcha girl so I ordered strawberry matcha, I wouldn't recommend it. It was not great. I also ordered these powdered cookies which had a Carmel filling I think but they were so good! The side of "steak" was so greasy it was leaking through the container, and the contents inside, not only looked nothing like the photo on the website, but I don't think could be classified as steak. Had lunch with co-workers. Sat outside in their garden patio as it was a lovely day. Menu was very diverse. Food was freshly made and delicious. Hearty portions. Service was prompt but then again we were the only ones in the restaurant at 1pm. I think this place is more of a breakfast place. But lunch was amazing! They do close at 3pm. I was meeting a friend for lunch who was staying at the Westin Bonaventure. There aren't too many lunch options open on a Saturday afternoon, so we decided to give this place a try. It was a very pleasant surprise! It's a large, clean cafe with many booths and tables on the ground floor of an office complex. There is 1 hour free parking in the garage with validation. We ordered the Chicken Greek Salad and Tuna Melt panini. Both were tasty and the portions were large. They also have a good selection of fresh juices and smoothies. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The service was friendly and prompt. It's definitely a nice choice for breakfast or lunch in the downtown area, especially on Saturday or Sundays when not much else is open. read more

This place was an absolute disappointment. We ordered one breakfast burrito and two basic coffees--nothing complicated--and it took over 45 minutes. When I asked to cancel after waiting so long, they refused and then suddenly managed to make the food in 4 minutes, which shows they simply didn't care until I complained. To make matters worse, the coffees we received were not even what we ordered. The total bill came to $40 for practically nothing, which is outrageous for such poor service and lack of care. I visited this place for breakfast on a weekday with a group of eight. You place your order at the register and then find your own table. Our group ordered a variety of breakfast burritos, pancakes, and omelettes. The food was average and the burritos were small for the price. The main issue was the service. Despite being the only patrons, it took over 40 minutes for our dishes to arrive, and they came out...slowly...one by one. By the time the last person got their dish, everyone else had already finished. To make matters worse, one person ordered a Veggie Omelette because they are vegetarian, but it came with bacon. I like coming here for breakfast, so it's not my first time coming in to eat. Although this time I was dissatisfied with service. It used to be a walk in and order at the front. What changed now, is that they take your order at the table you choose. I walked in and sat myself down and the waiters noticed where we sat. We waited a few, 15 minutes passed. I thought, okay, most likely short staffed and there's a few people coming in as well. It's a little busy. About 25 minutes and still haven't taken down my order, I had to go to the front cashier myself and question why we haven't been asked about our order. We were told that they didn't notice where we sat. Keep in mind we sat in the middle of the restaurant where waiters kept on walking by. Another thing, my partner had to use the restrooms. He was told he needed a key to the restroom and that someone was currently using it. He waited a few, went back to get the other key and a waiter finally said that there was a second key he was able to use the whole time. I'll probably stick to the chilaquiles. I got the sweetheart latte which was good and my friend got the Royal latte which she enjoyed! Overall, I love the outside patio and how serene it feels with the fountains. I appreciate the fans to keep us cool and the table fans to keep flies away. We go to this location quite often as we work right across the street. The service is actually always very slow but we tolerate it because the waitress is sweet. Today the service was beyond slow and we waited 40 minutes for 3 drinks and a croissant. We ordered a croissant sandwich an were told 20 minutes later that there were no more croissants left. We asked for a refund and were told it would take 3-4 days. This was a to go order. Why did it take 20 minutes to figure out there were no more croissants??? This place needs to change how they service people. App menu is great, but the customer literally orders for themselves, food Is over priced, $100 just for lunch, and a tip is still expected. Water is not even served. You have to serve water yourself, and the water bowl was empty. We ask for the bowl to be filled and they only filled it less than half way. Seating area is very small, wouldn't hurt to bring water to tables as you bring utensils or leave a water jar on tables. read more
