Excellent ropa vieja, Abuelitas black beans, and chickpeas. Everything is well seasoned and tastes like comfort food. We came here twice because we enjoyed it so much the first time. Afterwards I tried making vegan jackfruit ropa vieja and Cuban black beans at home from online recipes. The black beans came close but their ropa vieja was still better. It has deeper flavor and better texture. Service was friendly both times and the food comes out fresh and flavorful. Even if you're not vegan, it's worth trying. Earlier in the day, Vegan Cuban Cuisine randomly popped up as an ad on my Instagram. Then, completely separately, my coworker did her own research for lunch and suggested the same spot. So naturally, we had to try it. HOLY MOLY, IT WAS FANTASTIC. Before I get to the food, ordering is super easy. You can order online for pickup inside or curbside. Once you're at the restaurant, you can order from the screens inside or grab a table and scan the QR code. We opted for the QR code and ordered right from our table. My coworker ordered the Kale Chickpea Wrap, while I went with the Grilled Churrasco Steak and, of course, a Coco Pastelito for dessert. The churrasco was delicious! The "meat" was juicy, flavorful, and really well seasoned, and the bun was so soft and fluffy. I was already impressed by the presentation, but the flavor was even better. The whole thing came together so well that I genuinely would not have guessed it was vegan. To close things out, as a coconut lover I obviously had to try the Coco Pastelito. Y'all, I was beyond impressed. Between the flaky pastry and the coconut filling, it was such a good way to finish the meal. It's great to have a vegan Cuban option, because typically Cuban food is far from vegan. The restaurant is in a Kendall strip mall, with a trendy and clean look inside and a really nice Celia mural. Outside, there is some seating in the parking lot, but it's made up nicely with pots and faux grass so it feels a little nicer than being in a strip mall. There is a wide variety of food and coffees. I was hoping to love the food, but it was mostly ok. The tortilla española had a great texture and looked delicious but was a little on the salty side. The Cuban sandwich was really interesting because it's made with jackfruit, but tastes more like meat. It was fine, but not my favorite. I enjoyed the chickpea croquetas the most. They had a super crunchy exterior and a creamy, tasty interior. It's worth a try, especially if you aren't able to otherwise eat Cuban food, but I don't think it will convert any meat eaters. read more

Decided to order takeout last night since I didn't feel like cooking. Was looking through some options in UberEats and came across this place. It was a Friday night so I expected a delivery time of about an hour. That was right on target, especially since the drive had to make another stop before heading to me. I wondered if this would affect the quality of my food when it arrived, but I was pleasantly surprised. My entire meal was still warm and boy was it delicious! I ordered the Frita Sliders with sides of Yuca and Mushroom Macitas. Everything was excellent. The Yuca was perfectly cooked with a light touch of garlic and lime in the mojo. The Maciitas were a welcomed treat! The seasoning in the breading gave the perfect favor and they paired very well with the cilantro garlic sauce. The Sliders were the closest thing to a real frita you will find. The flavors were on point! I haven't checked out the storefront yet but will do so soon. As a vegan for nearly a decade, I've missed having Ropa Vieja, one of my all-time favorite meat dishes. So when I discovered a place offering vegan Cuban cuisine, I couldn't resist trying it out. It did not disappoint! We sat outside since indoor dining wasn't available yet, and the self-serve ordering system was convenient because they let you put in your table number. The Ropa Vieja was fantastic, bringing back those cherished flavors in a plant-based version. My only minor disappointment was that it didn't come with maduros, which I was really looking forward to. I've been coming to VCC since 2018 when they were a small kiosk at Aguacate sanctuary of love which has sadly closed. Their sandwiches are delicious. I am disappointed they took out the media noche sandwich which was their best sandwich in my opinion and also sad to see the prices have gotten extremely outrages which a mushroom sandwich now costing $19 when before it was around $14. The garlic bread that comes with the spaghetti is so good! Would order them as sides if I don't get spaghetti. I got their picadillo bowl once and it was really good. The sauce makes it very creamy and flavorful. It comes with a side and I got their yuca. I didn't really like their yuca though. It wasn't that soft. I would choose a different side next time. The bean and rice bowl was great as a healthier option; the boiled yuca was particularly memorable. The guava and cheese pastel was also incredible. We also LOVED their cafe con leche, both iced and hot, and we enjoyed the mamey smoothie. I got the El Habanero, a veganized version of piccadillo (minced beef), served on a plate with black beans, white rice, and plantains. I got a side kale salad as well, since they were no veggies on the main. The food came out in about 10 minutes. The portions were generous. The kale salad was basic, being lightly dressed with some citrusy vinaigrette and sprinkled with dried dates. The El Habanero was plentiful, with reasonably seasoned piccadillo, a few pieces of plantain, and a big portion of simple black bean stew and rice. Pretty solid overall but it didn't wow me. This was such an in reply surprising delight. Being of Cuban descent, growing up with the yumminess of our traditional foods but torn with living a more conscious life is a true struggle when you want to eat out or even at home with family.
