I really liked Vegan-ish vibes. I drove from Hammond to give them a try while I was on my Daniel fast earlier in the summer. I loved the vegan red beans and rice. They were very filling and seasoned well. But, the highlight was definitely the fried oyster mushroom burger. It was so good and tasty. Could've fooled me on it not being meat. I also tried the vegan Mac & cheese that I did not personally care for. I met the owners which were lovely! The owner explained to me how she is a Cancer survivor and that is the main reason as to why she went Vegan. She offers cold food in containers to go for purchase. Which I had the Mac & cheese. She also explained to me how they don't offer to warm up the food in the containers because she doesn't want the plastic contaminating the food. Fantastic lunch spot with tons of vegan options! Been meaning to try this place, and finally had the opportunity to call in a pick up order. Although somewhat pricey for a lunch plate, around 22 bucks, but the food was delicious and I got two meals out of it! Had my leftovers for lunch the next day. Huge portion of red beans and rice with a good quantity of two sides, candy yams, and turnip greens. Also came with, five or six large fried oyster mushrooms with a dipping sauce. This place is great! They were super friendly when I came in and my food was ready to go, I ordered online. Such a cute little spot, will definitely be back to dine in and try more things. read more

I called after searching online for a vegetarian option while riding through Baton Rouge. I wanted to make sure they were still open. The person who I talked to on the phone was knowledgeable of what was available and what was not. I was disappointed that vegan lasagna was not available and a couple other items I saw on the menu online. But when I asked what was available the voice on the other side gave me a thorough explanation of all the options I had and what might sale out. Unfortunately the pasta was sold out once we got there only 30 minutes later. I was incredibly shocked to learn that the young man taking our order was the same employee I spoke to on the phone. He was very helpful - and I must mention he was 10 years old and the son of the owner chef. He had such a positive pleasant demeanor even as he bused tables and checked on us to see how we were enjoying our meal. His sister delivered our meals and later I was able to meet dad. Unfortunately I was not able to meet mom- the incredible chef making it all happen but maybe next time when I visit this gem of a place. The food was great taste wise and the presentation was nice. So thankful another vegan soul-food restaurant took over the last one that left. I've been here 3 times now, and I've had uniquely fantastic food each time. My roommate has a seafood allergy and was so excited to try the vegan shrimp even though she's not vegan. The owner is kind and amplifies small business in BR, like the local lemonade sold there. I have a couple critiques that don't make-or-break this business. I think that their social media needs to really highlight the FOOD. It's confusing to know what I'm ordering when there aren't photos posted to see. Also, I can never find the prices of what I want to order, and always end up spending over $30 on lunch. I think noting prices consistently along with promoting how delicious the food is would attract a huge college aged audience who is on instagram/facebook. Also, I've been greeted with some rude service once there before...I asked what came on the shrimp poboy, to where the girl working said "shrimp" and looked at me like I was stupid‍. Again, some descriptions and prices on the food would help a lot. I still wanna give 5 stars because the food is spectacular and the owner is a fantastic woman. This place was amazing!! I'm from California came to BR to visit family and was not expecting any good vegan food. My family took me here for lunch and I was very impressed! They know vegan here. We had the black bean burger (huge and delicious); seafood plate (mom was convinced it was real seafood); and red beans plate (so good!). We brought home leftovers cause we couldn't eat it all and even my dad (super picky) said it was good. I also had the fried oyster mushrooms and I had to fight off family from stealing them from my plate. They reminded me of the fried oysters I had growing up. I took my partner across the street for beignets and wanted some vegan ones for myself, so I had to come here to try the famous vegan sweet potato beignets for myself. They lived up to the hype, fluffy and decadent, swimming in candied yam type sauce. I ate them there to enjoy while hot. I was in a rush so to-go, I got a vegan burger with all the fixings as well that was very filling with the fries. I also got a brownie to-go that tasted like childhood. The prices felt high, but each thing I got felt like enough for two people and was super filling. The service was amazing as well, with the cashier Sharon (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) asking me questions about my road trip and offering advice on the food. The best word to describe this place...A-MAZ-ING!! To my knowledge, this is the ONLY FULLY VEGAN restaurant in the Baton Rouge area..I'm totally ok with that, since the food is soooo good. We were visiting from out of town and looking forward to a nice vegan meal. When we arrived there were way less options than on the menu but the prices were not listed. Turns out the double cheeseburger was $22 and the patties weren't even handmade plus another $3 for sweet potato fries. I spent as much as I would on a gourmet sit down dinner ($60)on a wrap and a burger! That is absurd! I love animals and supporting local family owned businesses, but these prices are insane and not welcoming for most people in this current economy. Had my first vegan meal today, and it was wonderful. I had the black bean burger and fries, and it was really good. The actual patty was huge and too big to eat all of it, but it was full of flavor, and the onions and pickles and tomato all added appropriately. The avocado does not belong because the patty is soft already and does not need the added creamy texture of the avocado. The only drawback is 25 dollars for a burger and fry. I know fresh ingredients cost more, but 25 is high. I do recommend veganish vibes on taste quality but the price is excessive for what is essentially a lunch spot. read more

Okay so I've gotten take out from here a few times and i can say the fried mushroom red bean plate,yams,collards,oyster mushroom tacos HIT. If walnuts are used there needs to be a disclaimer on the item..got a cookie (i thought it was chocolate chip) I'm glad i looked on the inside before eating it because I'm allergic to walnuts. The bread pudding tasted like there was too much rum or vanilla extract and it was full of fruit cocktail. The lasagna when i got it just tasted like there was a bunch of sugar and tomato sauce and salt in it. I couldn't even eat it. I noticed it looks different in recent reviews so hopefully the recipe was changed.What I've also noticed here is alot of fake meat items are used. Impossible burger,fish,shrimp etc. so if you aren't a fan of those i would suggest elsewhere. I love vegan food! Some of these items are just not good though.The vibe of the place is very nice but a soul sister of mine went and said they were more on the rude side to her.
