Excellent food and service. The dumplings and fried vegetable rice were big hits. Love that the vegetables in the rice were larger than normal with broccoli, asparagus and carrots. The dumplings we ask for pan fried and cook perfectly, pair with a delicious dipping sauce. Good service and easy checkout

Veggie Fun serves up fresh and delicious vegan Asian cuisine in a convenient downtown location! The service is always fast and the food is perfectly prepared. The vegetables are always especially fresh and flavorful, and entrees come with brown rice and a miso soup to start. Even as someone who eats seafood and poultry, I really enjoy coming to Veggie Fun!

Such a great hidden gem! The food here is amazing and we came back for a second time to try something new. I tried both the basil and mango soy protein and both were great. I recommend the basil one a bit more though as it was the perfect amount of savory and spicy. It came with miso soup and rice too. The wine pours are generous and they have an extensive drink menu. The soy milk tea I got was a bit watery for my taste. Overall highly recommend this spot!

By far the best vegan food we ever had! Chill vibes and good service ... So glad to see a vegan place with an inviting set up and serves genuine taste!

Veggie Fun is a pan-asian vegan kosher restaurant in downtown Providence. I am not vegan, but I am always willing to have vegan food and have went to other vegan restaurants. When you walk in, there is a bar with seats in the middle, dining booths on the right, and seating on the left. We were seated at one of the booths and only one other booth was taken around 1:00pm on a Monday. You can see some wear and tear on the booth seats, but it is really nice and spacious inside. Lunch specials are available Monday to Friday until 3:00 pm, excluding holidays. They are all served with brown rice, miso soup and spring roll except for the noodle dishes (L13 and L14) which are served without brown rice. Lunch specials are $12.00. A list of homemade iced drinks are available as well. I had the Thai Iced-Tea and my husband had the Mango Green Tea. They were $5.00 each. The drinks were refreshing and pleasing. I had the Sweet and Sour Sesame Soy Protein lunch special and my husband had the General Tso's Soy Protein lunch special. We've always been a fan of seitan and really enjoyed our dishes. The sauce was very flavorful and tasty. I mixed some of the sauce with the brown rice to give the rice some flavor. The miso soup was very good, not overly salty. We were so full by the end of the meal. After ordering, drinks and food came out in no time. Service was alright. The lunch special is definitely worth it and looking forward to coming here next time.

Finding a Kosher plant-based restaurant that has absolutely delicious food was a highlight of my time on a quick trip through Providence. The ambience and service were excellent. The dining and bar areas are spacious and have vintage charm that matches the historic building, I liked the lighting, which was soft but you could easily read the menu. I was really surprised that it was not more crowded, but it seemed that most people ordered takeout and delivery. We first tried the fried Autumn Rolls first, which were crisp and flavorful and not greasy. We shared a few different main courses which were also all very good. It was my first time trying "spare ribs" (Smoked Seitan with green beans), and I was told by an omnivore dining with me that they were spot on. I really liked them and the accompanying green beans, which were very fresh, Everything else was also extremely tasty. They have an excellent tea selection- both hot and cold. The desserts sounded enticing but we did not have room to try them.

Overall about 3.5 stars so I'll round up! I saw lemongrass soup and didn't read that it was hot and sour soup (one of my favorite soups but I was expecting something different)...the lemongrass was not very upfront but also, my bad for not reading that it was a hot and sour soup- pretty standard and ok for a typical hot and sour. The General Tso's Soy Protein was pretty tasty- I actually enjoyed the flavor and texture....it was not what I expected though. It didn't have the meat substitute texture of the chicken- it was just kind of it's own thing...and the flavor reminded me of something I can't quite put my finger on. Spring rolls were not very warm and nothing to write home about and Pad-Thai was a little lacking on flavors...fine but lacking the 'funk' I love from a good pad thai. Solid place if you are a vegan or have a vegan friend but not sure if I would go back on my own accord. Nice atmosphere/ambiance and good location.

I don't typically eat vegetarian/vegan food, but I decided to order from Veggie Fun for an event I was hosting since a friend had said that their pricing was great! We got stir fry udon with tofu and veggie dumplings for about $110 for 14 people, which was more than enough! The veggie dumplings were actually quite good, and the stir fry udon was a bit soggy but had a nice, rich flavor. I would recommend ordering from here for larger events and if anyone in your party is vegetarian/vegan and wants asian food!

The food did not disappoint! It came sizzling and hot, there's nothing that could have made the dish better, it was fantastic! The food was matched by the ambiance and the service as both were excellent, would definitely come back!

I was in Boston having a medical test and found out that the nurse and I were both from the Providence area and both vegetarians! She recommended Veggie Fun and my husband and I had lunch there on the way home. It's always so nice to be able to look at the whole menu instead of the 4-5 vegetarian dishes, usually pasta. They have a large lunch special menu until 3p for $12, so we ordered from that. Your entree comes with miso soup, a small spring roll, and brown rice. We both had seitan dishes; his was Spare Ribs (yummy sauce!) with green beans, and I forget what mine was called but it was delicious! It came with sliced carrots. We were pleasantly full, they were lunch-sized portions. One waiter was serving the room and he was very gracious. The room was beautiful with lots of twinkly lights that must be gorgeous at night! We'll return!

The prices definitely reflect being in the heart Downtown but I love that they still have the VIP rewards program. I've gotten takeout and dined in- I feel the prices are a little more justified when dining-in since the view is fantastic- a nice place for a fancy splurge! Sushi in general is pretty ok here- for example, the uni didn't seem super fresh, tasted a little bit off- but not everyone has uni these days so it's a nice treat... Large menu with something to please for everyone including a good beer/wine and alcohol selection. My bandmate craves the Shanghai noodles here so i'll usually grab a simple spicy salmon roll when we go (or a French Crunchy Roll if I'm feeling fancy). I love a good yellowtail jalapeño but the sauce on this one was a little bit thick/heavy in comparison to the North Providence Jacky's- still good but I prefer the lighter/fresher one. Overall, I would recommend for a fancy Downtown splurge with great city views but I think the N.P. location is more consistent as far as the sushi quality. *If you order takeout, make sure to check your order before you leave I would say price for value this place is 4.5 stars but I always round up for local places that I like to support- plus, the service here is also super friendly... did I mention the views?!!!

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.

At first glance, you don't see much from Elmwood Ave, but veer to the right and everything opens up on the left, with a parking lot in the back. I wanted to take the opportunity to try some Cambodian food, so after some quick research, I opted for Beef Lok Lak, which happened to be one of the lunch combos. I chose fried rice and nime chow for my lunch options and settled back to wait for my feast. They bring you a complementary pot of hot tea, which I enjoyed. I believe it was a straightforward unsweetened black tea. Perfect for me. Before long the rangoons arrived. I literally said "wow" when the runner set my plate down. Beautiful golden brown, small bubbles visible all over the outside, promising crispy goodness. And it delivered. What I didn't expect what the slight chewiness to the wrapper that enhanced the experience. The filling was super creamy and delicious, but I prefer my rangoons with scallions as well. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying every bite. Then my lunch came. The beef was perfectly cooked, the dressing tangy and peppery. The nime chow was herby and super fresh as it should be. And the rice had this extra depth of flavor that made me think of tomato paste? A lovely addition the dish. I had a great meal here and the rangoons are definitely worth having! When we walked in, every table was full and we had to wait about 20-30 minutes to be seated. Since we had time to look at the menu while we waited, we ordered right away: BBQ beef, stir fried thin egg noddle with seafood, and thai garlic chicken wings. While waiting for the food, I had ample time to take in my surroundings, including all the elegant décor around the restaurant including a lot of red and gold colors. Our food came out all together after about 20-30 minutes. The portion sizes were excellent, and all the food was still hot. The beef was cooked perfectly (for me) and cut into manageable strips. It was tender, a hint of sweet, and savory. It came with some sweet pickled shaved radish, cabbage, and carrots with cucumber. This with the meat created a contrast in texture and amplified the sweetness. There was also a clear sauce and that was also really.good. The fried noodles were delicious. They were thin so it seemed like the flavor penetrated inside the noodle. It had a good amount of seafood including big chunks of imitation crab meat, shrimp, and something else I was unfamiliar with. It also had mustard leaves; they weren't bitter, they just had a neutral green leaf flavor (maybe spinach but stronger). The chicken wing order came with about 8 wings, sitting on a bed of cabbage and topped with jalapeno and chili peppers. They were still very hot and crispy, and had a savory and a subtle umelike flavor. I wish the garlic flavor were stronger. I am excited to come back again and try something new on the menu.

Come on ... how much does it cost you to actually throw in a tiny cup of hot mustard? I mean, who doesn't eat hot mustard with Chinese food? It used to be that Chinese food was a fast and cheap dinner ... a combo meal here is $18, after substitution. I want to know ... who the fuck has ever actually eaten a shitty chicken wing from a Chinese restaurant without substituting it out? Probably nobody. You eat fresh BBQ chicken wings at a tailgate, not from a dirty restaurant the size of a college dorm room. Of course they know any sane person with working taste buds will substitute nasty skimpy wings for something else ... so they include them in every combo meal knowing people will pony up the extra $1.50 - $2.50. A combo with 3 crab rangoon, 3 chicken fingers (substituted for wings) and an egg roll now costs almost $20. The quality here is on par with a mall food court ... which is to say, not great. Dry AF fried rice with fatty cubes of pork which have the consistency and taste of a pencil eraser. The rice was almost chewy it was so dry amd barely tasted like pencil shavings it was so bland. The crab rangoon was decent ... filled with fake cream cheese and almost no crab. If you are drunk, it's fine and filling. Nothing you couldn't throw in an air fryer from a frozen box. The chicken fingers were okay. Likeky frozen a year ago and thrown into a deep fat frier hours before you ordered and kept under a heat lamp. If you are drunk or high, you'll leave a 4/5 star review. If you are unfortunately sober when you eat this, it will remind you of the dsys you'd scrape your lawn mowing money together and splurge on Chinese food from the mall food court when you were in middle school. Overall, this is buffet food served as fresh made. The fact that everything had almost zero taste ... they better start putting hot mustard and soy sauce in orders unless that want continued 2/3 stars. Bottom line ... I was hoping for good old fashioned American style strip mall Chinese food. What I got ... sucked.

With a 4.6 rating, we were genuinely excited to try it. Walking in, first impressions were great. The inside of the restaurant was super cute, the artwork was beautifully done, and the initial greeting was welcoming. Unfortunately, things started going downhill pretty quickly after that. We had a few questions about the menu, but the hostess seemed confused and didn't really understand what we were asking, so we ultimately just gave up and ordered what sounded good. Food-wise, it was very mixed. The sushi roll was phenomenal...genuinely the best part of the experience, and my son absolutely loved his. The shrimp udon was okay, but the portion was noticeably smaller than what most sushi places serve. The salmon poke bowl was very basic and honestly underwhelming. I also asked for spicy mayo, which was never brought out. The biggest disappointment was the service. Paying $4 for a canned soda with no refills already felt excessive, but when my son accidentally spilled it, we cleaned it up immediately ourselves. No one offered extra napkins, replaced the plate, or even asked if we wanted another drink. It just felt inattentive from start to finish. To make matters worse, one staff member was sitting at the bar listening to something loudly on a laptop, which completely took away from the atmosphere and felt unprofessional. As someone who used to waitress, I understand the service industry and I'm usually a generous tipper. But I also believe tips reflect service, and unfortunately this experience missed the mark. After picking up our receipt, the hostess was visibly unhappy with the tip amount and had no issue making that clear which only reinforced the poor experience. I very rarely leave one-star reviews, but for a place with a 4.6 star reputation and "top-rated" marketing, this was incredibly disappointing. Cute atmosphere and one great sushi roll aside, the service and overall experience were just not what we expected.

Some days, you just need a boatload of sushi! This is a delicious Sushi & Sashimi Combo lunch…read morespecial times two plus a negihama maki from Sura in Providence. The meal starts with miso soup & salad with ginger dressing. The soup always comes out piping hot & has great flavor. I love a good ginger dressing & this one has some zing. The Sushi & Sashimi Combo is a chef's selection of 5 pieces of nigiri, 5 pieces of sashimi & either a California roll or salmon avocado roll. Since we ordered two of the combos, we went with one of both rolls. If you like California rolls, this is the one you want. I personally judge a sushi restaurant on the quality of the salmon avocado roll. Is the salmon bright in color, buttery mouthfeel & firm? Is the avocado soft & perfectly "avocado green" in color? YAAASSSSS to both! We also ordered a negihama maki - yellowtail & scallions roll. It is a guilty pleasure & one of my favorite rolls in all sushi-land! Even though Sura was a bit busy, the food came out in good time & always with a smile! NOM NOM NOM #YUM

We started out with daikon, radish, and add bean sprouts. The daikon radish is my absolute favorite. There are selections to make your own salad, but I did not want to fill up on salad. You can order food made in the kitchen. We had vegetable dumplings, scallion, pancake, and Korean fried chicken. The Korean fried chicken was spicy, but also so delicious. Next, we picked out our meat and chicken to bring back to the table to grill. There were two bottles of sauces on the table to dip your meat and into. The meats and chicken selections were well marinated Dessert was not included The service was exceptional. We can't wait to go back.

As per usual we order (intentionally) too much food so that we can have another meal at home the next day. An advantage here is that one can bring one's own bottle, which keeps the costs down. We ordered a hearty and tasty coconut soup with various vegetables and chicken. Scallion pancakes, Singapore noodles with meat and garlic string beans- all delicious . Reasonably priced ($65) with another meal to take home. Lunch without having to cook! A welcome idea.

The dining room can accommodate larger parties. It's nicely decorated and comfortable, but tends to be a bit chilly in winter so ask for a refill of the complementary tea. We like most of the menu, but our particular favorites are the hot & sour soup (so nice and spicy!), coconut chicken appetizer, satay noodles (again, can be spicy), and the Cambodian noodles dry (served in a delicious sauce, don't worry). Other items frequently in rotation for us are the fried lort, general tsao's tofu, numya curry, and tom yum soup (tofu, chicken, beef or just veggies can be added). Service is friendly and quick - either eating here or getting take out.
