Providence Vegan Deli is a spot that pleasantly surprised me! I'm not vegan, but I do enjoy and appreciate good and creative vegan food. I ordered The Big Toona sandwich, and I loved it! I got the smaller size (which was still massive), and I was so impressive with the delicious flavors and textures. The "Toona" was a chickpea salad, and it was so satiating. The interior of the restaurant was also very cute and clean with plenty of seating. The worker who took our order was playing a Twenty One Pilots radio, so that was already a strong start to our visit! She was very kind and patient as we decided which sandwiches to get. I would highly recommend Providence Vegan to Deli to anyone, regardless of dietary needs. And this would be a perfect spot to take your vegan or vegetarian friends!

We were planning to get some ice cream from Like No Udder, and when we saw that they shared their space with Providence Vegan Deli, it made our dinner choice really easy. They make their seitan meats in-house, and the portions are large, so we decided to share a few items. My kid immediately zeroed in on the massive meatballs made from seitan, tofu, and veggies. The meatball was too big for him to eat the whole thing, so we finished it for breakfast, and it was really well-seasoned and just as good the second day. The potato salad was so creamy and tasty, one of my favorite things we got. We shared two of the smaller size of the sandwiches - the Frank (the Italian grinder) and the Trio (corned beef, turkey, pepperoni, and cheese). Both sandwiches were good, completely packed with ingredients, but the Italian was the clear winner. Would 100% get that again. Great place to go for vegan alternatives to classic deli sandwiches.

Came back two days in a row. First I got the Grinder, then the next day I got the Trio. Both were good but I enjoyed the Grinder the best. The sandwiches were a little dry at first but all of the moisture was located near the crease of the bun. If I had it my way I would distribute the dressing more evenly throughout the sandwich so that each bite is more balanced. Service was curt but the cashier was very knowledgeable. Prices for the sandwiches are good for a vegan meal and the sandwich came with chips. I will return.

I'm trying to shy away from bread so I opted for a tofu based "egg - ish" salad on top of fennel salad with pickles, tomatoes and onions.

Don't let East Providence scare you. They've got some great places to eat. Like The Providence Vegan Deli. Think Artesian meets urban legends. Mingled together and we get a delicatessen a savory treats.

Took my 10 year old roommate to Providence Vegan Deli today as an attempt to use all my RI FOOD FIGHTS Sandwich coupons. The place shares its space with Like No Udder, a vegan ice cream shop. It was bright and clean but also a bit cramped for space. Our cashier was lovely, showing us the options and giving us plenty of time to sort out what we wanted. We decided to take it to go since the place was pretty full and we don't mind eating in a car We got the Vera and The Frank. The Vera was their version of a meatball sub, and the Frank was their Italian grinder. Both were really tasty. The Vera was surprisingly good. While the texture was soft for a meatball, it was seasoned in a way that you got the classic red sauce Italian taste. The sauce was delicious, and the VioLife provolone melted into this creamy like sauce that was a lovely accompaniment to the sandwich. The roommate had the Frank and he loved it! He rated it a 9 out of 10. His only complaint is he wished it had more "meat" and less of the fresh veggies. It was really packed with shredded lettuce so I understand how that can overwhelm the sandwich. He did an elite move and added a bag of Cape Cod chips to the sandwich. He ate about half, so I look forward to trying the leftovers later I like going out for vegan even though I don't ascribe to the diet/lifestyle because I am often surprised and delighted by what people are creating out of plants out there. This place is no exception. Other selections on the menu included buffalo chicken, egg salad, and even a rueben. All meatless, of course. Enough interesting options that I wouldn't mind coming back and I won't hesitate to recommend this spot for my vegan/vegetarian friends.

One of the stops on our RI food fights best sandwich.. I have to say I was impressed. This place was good, and no, not just "good for a vegan deli", it was good as far as sandwich shops go in general! I ordered the firestorm which had Ethiopian spiced seitan. It was very flavorful and those warm spices are right up my alley. Think spices like cumin, allspice, clove, nutmeg etc. The 6" sandwich was PACKED with the seitan, the vegan cheese and had a healthy helping of shredded lettuce. Despite all it's filling, it maintained a good moisture and mouthfeel with the mayo they used here. All in all, this was a good level of spice. Not overwhelming to me and I'm not exactly a mad-chili-head but I can get on with some spice. The portion was fantastic and the folks running the joint were super friendly (and had twenty one pilots on loop so bonus points for that). Here is the description for my sandwich: "House made hot and spicy Ethiopian spiced seitan, The Stuff house made hot mayo, violife cheddar cheese, jalapeños, lettuce and tomato on a soft grinder roll." Overall, I loved it. I have to admit it's difficult to get past the processed flavor of the vegan violife cheese, this sandwich would have been a 10/10 with some real cheddar but, it's a vegan sandwich shop after all. Would definitely see myself back here especially if I were with a crowd that had some dietary restrictions. Thanks Providence Vegan Deli!

    Vegan Reuben, add jalapeños
    El H.

3.5 stars. I got the vegan Reuben add jalapeños, and it was fine. The employees were nice and I liked that they share a space with a vegan ice cream shop, but the sandwich just wasn't anything to write home about. If I came back, I'd order a different sandwich! I did really like the seitan, though, but it didn't taste like corned beef. I wish it would've had thousand island instead of mustard (and I love mustard)!

Finally got to try this place after seeing their recipes and sandwiches on TikTok. Did not disappoint! Ordered the Frank which had fresh ingredients, and the seitan was well seasoned. I'll have to come back to try the Firestorm. The sandwiches are HUGE but like any deli sandwich they do get soggy if you try to save them for later.

    Toona sub
    Lynn B.

I'm a longtime vegetarian who is always hankering for a good sandwich, and I feel like I hit the jackpot with Providence Vegan Deli. I got the Toona and it was huge! It needed a little extra pepper, but it was pretty solid. It came with a bag of Cape Cod chips and I also ordered a side of sweet and spicy potato hash that was delicious. The service was prompt and it's a cool shop with nice vibes. I'll definitely be back here in the future.

The "Frank" and the chick'n salad
    Katrina M.

No frills strip-mall type deli but make it all vegan? Count me in! I ordered the most popular sandwich on the menu - "Frank, the Italian" which is a classic Italian grinder/hoagie/sub with housemade seitan (pepperoni, ham, and Italian style) with Violife provolone, banana peppers, onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and Italian dressing. The large/full size is absolutely massive and far more than I was capable of eating so I'd definitely go with the 6" next time if you are just a standard level of hungry. Very impressed with the seitan made in-house and the contrast of textures on fluffy bread. I also tried the chick'n salad but the chick'n was too dense/chewy for my liking so I think I'd go with the mac or potato salad next time. I arrived right as the shop was opening up at noon and there was already a decent line to order - I'm so pleased to see how popular this place is! They made all the orders quickly and I was enjoying my sandwich in no time. Awesome spot!

The yummiest vegan deli on the east side from the owner of Like no Udder (which now shares a space). Plenty of parking in both a lot and on the street. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Menu is smallish to start, but plenty of options. I ordered the cannonball, frank the Italian, and firestorm. So delicious! Homemade seitan daily. Fresh bread too. I was told the potato salad sells out daily, so I got a side of that. You do get a bag of Utz chips with each sandwich. So nice! Hours are limited, so do check the website or social channels. Cannot wait to see this place flourish. Welcome to Hope Street!

Providence Vegan Deli is a no-frills old school style deli with fresh, simple ingredients and punk undertones (but not in an annoying way). They share a space with Like No Udder (vegan ice cream) and serve up nostalgic deli sandwiches overflowing with homemade seitan and fixings on fresh Italian rolls. They also offer some to-go items such as pepperoni and egg salad (all vegan). I wish they had a few more bread options like whole grain or rye. All in all, super glad they exist.

Price was great, sandwich was awesome, service was fast, staff was helpful. Definitely recommend! People who are plant based and not will enjoy this deli. They share space with the ice cream shop and have parking and indoor seating.

Small lot parking and even smaller restaurant, there are a handful of tables both regular and bar height and a few bar seats. Very cozy and bright and service very friendly. It did take a bit longer than we were expecting for our food to come out. But that 24 hour fermented dough is out of this world - we had the pepperoni, hot honey ricotta pizza and it's hands down one of the best pies I've had - perfect chew on that crispy crust and all of the flavors worked well together. We also ordered the chicken parm and the smoked mozzarella and prosciutto. It would've been helpful if the smoked mozzarella and prosciutto stated on the menu it was a ravioli - the mister enjoyed it but ravioli isn't his first choice for pasta. As for me, my chicken parm was very good BUT I had to get the pizza marinara sauce as the sauce that comes with this dish is bolognese since I can't do red meat. They were very accommodating to give me that option but I don't think it's as flavorful as the mister said his bolognese had a much richer flavor. Drinks were good but strong! Truly, we did enjoy our meals and if for nothing else - I'd order pizzas over and over again from here. Don't sleep on this spot for pizza - it's pretty darn good!
