Great vegan food! All the salads are fresh and crisp. I tried the all hail kale salad and the B-Wing salad (buffalo chickin wings over a salad with ranch dressing). The buffalo wings are tasty to be sure but I don't kid myself into thinking they're healthy. They are deep fried and smothered with sauce. I also tried the crispy chickin plate: Fried chickin', cauli-mashed potatoes, porcini mushroom gravy with fresh rosemary, and steamed kale. Yummy! Again, not the healthiest option. The sweetheart fries (sweet potato) are so good! Yet again, not the healthiest option. I could really get fat being a vegan! I was a little disappointed though that the main protein sources on the menu are from faux meats (which are highly processed). I would have liked to see some tofu. If I could leave zero stars I would. My mom and I waited over an hour for our food while watching several people who were in line behind us (including a large family of 6) being served. After the first 30 minutes, a man who seemed to be a supervisor or manager came by us and asked if we were still waiting on food to which we replied yes. He told us he would see what the hold up was, then disappeared for another 10 or so minutes. When we saw him again, he was bussing tables. I caught him and let him know we were still waiting for our order to which he responded "Oh, right. I'll check." After another 15 mins, we saw this same man bringing food to another family that had come in after us. At this point I stood up, when he caught my eye, he said, "sorry, I'm checking now," but at this point I stopped him and asked for our money back. Not only had they seemingly forgotten about our order, his attempts at customer service were killed by the fact that he'd forgotten about us two more times!! I was excited to try out their actual restaurant after two very favourable experiences with their takeaway food. I decided to make a lunch date with a friend and after my first visit, I have mixed feelings about my first experience. I should clarify that the employees were very friendly and the dining area was clean. It was the food that was a little hit and miss. After much deliberation, we ordered from the menu and took our seats at the long communal table with taller green chairs in the centre of the restaurant. The smaller tables with red chairs were populated with many parents with strollers. My friend chose the Baja "Fish" tacos with a side of the Sweetheart Fries. I went with the Crispy Chickin' Plate and I added a side of their mac-n-cheese. The food arrived faster than we thought it would. She liked the fish tacos but after several bites, didn't care for the smell of the fake fish. She explained that faux meats didn't really do it for her and she'd prefer something that didn't try to ape something else. It made sense to me, I have several friends who feel similarly. For me, I enjoyed my cauli-mash potatoes and porcini gravy with crispy chickin'. I did feel the temperature could have been hotter and overall, the food could have been better seasoned. The kale with ginger-miso was plentiful and easily the largest portion on the plate so yay for health! When I tucked into the macaroni, I didn't care for the consistency. It was like someone watered down cheese sauce to make it go further and considering the price, I was definitely disappointed The taste was okay but after several forkfuls, I actually got up and got some salt. If you've ever dined with me, you know I'm not one to reach for salt. The one standout hit of the meal was my dessert, which I got free by joining their Grill Club. All of their dessert items are made without eggs, dairy, trans fats, cholesterol, or refined sugars. Do they taste good? Well, my carrot cake did and it was packed with fresh carrots, walnuts, and vegan cream cheese frosting. It was perfectly balanced and something that I'd return for easily. I'd go back to VG and give them a second try, in hopes that the macaroni was made better and maybe I'd get hotter food. Just had a great meal at Veggie Grill :)...check out their new winter menu! We had the harvest bowl, Bombay bowl, tortilla soup, and carrot cake...the perfect 3-course meal for two. Here are the details: *Harvest bowl: nice combo of root veggies, kale, and quinoa with a miso gravy...excellent filling option! The faux-sausage was also better than I expected. I'm not typically a fan of fake meats, but this was as good as the real thing. *Bombay bowl: similar to the harvest bowl but sans meat and plus beans, almonds, and a coconut curry gravy...love the sauce! *Tortilla soup: a blended vegetarian version of the traditional. The differences threw me off at first, but it grew on me. *Carrot cake: satisfy your sweet tooth and complete your fill up with this option! The service was phenomenal as well! I love having a vegan place in U. Village that is quick, convenient, and filling. It's definitely not the best food in the world, but it does the job when you are craving fast(ish) food. My main complaint for this particular location is that while very nice and friendly, the employees here are LOUD. Don't come here if you want to read a book while eating, or have a relaxing lunch with a friend. The kitchen staff and the servers are continuously yelling at each other from across the restaurant, laughing, and whooping it up as if it's not a restaurant but someone's backyard BBQ. I'm glad they're having fun and feel comfortable, but as someone who is sensitive to noise, I find myself incredibly annoyed every time I eat here. Please have a conversation with your employees about using inside voices and approaching each other to chat instead of yelling across the room. Thank you! read more

I love this place, but one criticism. I heard a Dough Boys Podcast episode about Veggie Grill and they were very happy with it. They talked specifically about the mac and cheese so I wanted to try it. I have been to Veggie Grill multiple times but had never tried the mac and cheese. I took two bites and it was so spicy I couldn't finish it. There is cayenne pepper in it (I think that was the spice). For those of us who can't deal with spice of any kind the question of "Is it spicy is a yes or no question". For people who like some spiciness there are degrees, but for me it's all too spicy. There was no mention on the menu of spice so I was irritated by that. Otherwise the burger was great. I had the one with caramelized onions and bleu cheese, which actually tasted like bleu cheese somehow. I have loved pretty much all of it, But guys warn us spice weenies! read more

There are many Veggie Grills, but unfortunately not where I live currently. No matter where I go and visit, though, I'll always head to VG - and Seattle is no exception. I came to this location for Thanksgiving lunch with my vegan partner, and we are both always pleased with our food. I consistently get the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich - I can't describe how freaking good it is. I highly recommend to anyone coming here for their first time. VG has super yummy nachos too - I also recommend those if you're just looking for something to share. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back right now! My only two complaints are that it's very pricey, it can take a long while to get your food, and that they got rid of the coleslaw - I do not like their French fries, and their coleslaw was amazing. While shopping in U Village, we stopped into Veggie Grill. I really enjoyed my experience at the SLU location. This time I had company. My husband and son had the All American Stack with the Sweetheart fries, and tea and lemonade. I had the soup and salad: with 'Beef' Barley soup and All Hale Kale with tempeh, and a glass of pinot gris. The food is really delicious. There is a large variation in the flavor profile, which is nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For those who have not been here, there is quite a bit of seating. I eat a mostly vegan diet, and so I was especially excited to find a diner-style fast-food place that serves vegan! I have eaten here about a dozen times now. What I like most about Veggie Grill is that it's delicious AND healthy. I mean, I know where to go to find a cheeseburger. I've been to Veggie Grill twice. The first time, I had the Chick'n Burger and fries, and both were great. Actually, it wasn't until after that I realized that it wasn't really chicken! My last visit, I had the Sonoran bowl and honestly - it was one of the best bowls I've had in a while! I've been to Veggie Grill around three times now. It's a nice, quick place to eat if you're in the area. While the quality of food is good, portion sizes are incredibly small for the amount you pay. Long wait (was told 20 mins, ended up waiting 40). Filthy dining area. All tables have a grime film on them... worse than most fast food restaurants. We ordered at 7:00 pm and waited almost 40 minutes for food. Almost every entree on the menu was missing key ingredients. I settled on the Mediterranean super salad without the hummus (i am assuming it was part of the recall).the salad was wilted. There was cilantro mixed in with the greens (which I hate!!!) and is not Mediterranean (grrrr!). The lemon dressing it came with was overly sweet and globbed in a hidden part of the salad. What an inadequate review I wrote back in early November. I blame it on not having computer access and had to type out that review on my small phone screen. So, I order the urban plate every time I am here. After my first amazing encounter with urban plate, I just took it for granted: the sauce, kale, and ingredients. I had to keep reminding myself how delicious the food is during my visit. The sauce over my kale during my most recent visit was kind of bland but I know it was probably an isolated case. The portobello mushroom was slightly burnt but it is not going to perfect every single time. Then I tried the crispy chicken burger and OMG it was NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM. NOM NOM. SO GOOD! The sweet potato fries that came with the burger was in a smaller amount as they were meant for a side dish. However, I will just have to remember next time to order the sweet potato fries as a "regular" side as opposed to an add-on side to the burger. Because it is too yummy! The mashed potato and gravy came in a much smaller portion that I expected and it was okay. The tables and seats nearby the doors are not the best since people frequently come in and out and the cold air get in. So grab a table near the kitchen if you don't like being too cold. I came in recently on a weekday lunch and it was not too crowded. Meals were served within 5 - 10 minutes after ordering. This is a cool spot for a possible date night. Definitely great for group hangouts or a casual meal. Or a meal after waiting 32 hours outside the Apple Store for iPhone 6, 7s, 8, 9, 10s. Service was great as always. Although it was my first time here, I was thoroughly impressed! My friend recently became vegan so we had questions on which items off the menu were vegan friendly. Turns out, everything in their restaurant is vegan! I ordered a winter bowl and strawberry lemonade, both of which were very tasty. Although this vegetarian restaurant has somewhat of a fast food joint feel to it, the food there was surprisingly good. The main sandwich dishes ($8-10) come with a side of your choice (slaw or Chilli), or with an upgrade, you can get more elaborated side dishes (e.g. steamed kale, etc). There are some other side dishes, too. I had a crab cake sandwich with slaw and my friend had a grilled chicken sandwiches with steamed kale and they were pretty good. They have no fountain soda there but, instead, offer 3-4 selection of iced tea, fruit-based drinks which tasted quite good. This place is very clean and the cashiers and waiters were helpful with recommending what we might like and even came to our table to ask if we liked our food or needed anything. I'm not a vegetarian but I do like veggie grill! I have a lot of vegetarian family and friends and this is our go to place! This is located in University Village, which means parking is almost always packed however the restaurant itself is never too busy! But I will say they do take a long time to prepare the food no matter how busy/slow it is! Most times the staff apologizes but I'm never in a hurry so I don't really mind! The customer service is good! They answered all my questions when I first came and are very accommodating when they run out of something I wanted to order! I usually order the buffalo wings which are my absolute favorite! I may even prefer them over actual wings! But I will say some days they don't taste as good! One time they were almost kinda soggy.... however that was only once but the other times they were okay food is really never hot.. makes me kinda skeptical! They are pretty pricey for the proportions! My order came out to be around 23$ when I ordered one sweet potatoes fries and two buffalo wings! I tried sweet potato fries for the first time today and they were surprisingly really tasty and I do recommend trying it out! If you go here dine in, don't get take out. I have had my last 4 take out meals not worth my time of having to go back and get missing items. Last two Times they run out of items that were ordered and not bother to call or tell me. So It delays order, the order gets cold while waiting for whatever substitute they are replacing with. I would give this place 4 stars, however, EVERY time I would order something with Quinoa I would get TERRIBLE eczema and a terrible rash all over my face within a few hours. Why? Because they do not wash/rinse their quinoa before cooking it. I am not the only one who has experienced this, my friend who use to work for them would have this problem and confirmed my suspicion that they do not wash the quinoa. The eczema I would experience would be all over my face and last 3 days to a week depending on how many products I used to reduse the redness. As a self-proclaimed meat lover I found myself trying the gluten free vegan mac and cheese and kale salad with "chicken" and loved every bite of it! The flavors were complex and complimentary and the mac and cheese was smooth (I've had a fair share of grainy and oversweetened gf/vegan m&c in the past), leaving me satisfied with a small bowl but still wanting more because it was so good! The kale salad was fresh and flavorful, but the fake meat just didn't cut it for me (great effort though). The same was the case with someone seated behind us. Since we were 5 of them we had to put an extra chair in the side blocking way for the table behind us. My husband had to get up 4 times to make way because they didn't give a fork and something else. Totally not the other diners mistake but it was just annoying to get disturbed so many times for not being given enough silverware I love and prefer vegetarian food on any given day not sure why do you have to name and make food that looks like meat. If you are someone who eats vegetarian food mostly and occasionally eat white meat, then the smell of the food may throw you off. I really like how this Veggie Grill is designed because the place is so casual and fun. The colors on the walls were so inviting. I came here with a few girl friends to grab a meal that wasn't too heavy. This place is completely vegetarian, even though the place offers "chicken," it's actually "chick'n" and it's completely vegetarian. So don't believe that you're actually eating a piece of meat because it's not quite like that. My friend got the Baja salad and it looked very fresh. I really liked the dressing that they use to pair with the salads. They have a variety of foods from soups, salads, to burgers/sandwiches. I was interested in having some soup but they have "the soup of the day" so you can't pick since the day designates what soup will be offered. The famous and most popular salad is "All Hail Kale" and I wanted to try it, but I was too intrigued by the Papa's Portabello burger. Basically a burger with a giant portobello mushroom instead of meat. I thought it was going to taste weird since I'm such a carnivore and need my meat, but I really wanted to give it a shot. The burger was put on a whole wheat bun and had a ton of flavor because of aioli and spread on it. Because of the sauces and the strong red onion, AND the well flavored mushroom, it was easy to devour the whole thing without really caring that there was no actually beef or chicken in this burger. I got a side of chili and that chili is some delicious chili. It has everything regular chili would have (not beef though), and that nice spice kick. I really liked feeling that hint of spice on my tongue after eating the chili. My friend got the sweetheart fries which are sweet potatoes fries that come with an amazing dipping sauce. I personally love sweet potato fries so I was just taking those fries from her. They were crisp, sweet, and just fried to perfection. Pairing it with that dipping sauce was deliciousness all around. I have yet to try the many other things that Veggie Grill has to offer but I definitely recommend going here if you're looking to trying to stay on the healthier side. Lunch with my vegetarian daughter. VERY good. FOOD: 4.0. We both had Banh Mi (Tofu) sandwiches with fries. Pork Banh Mi is a favorite of mine, but this tofu version was excellent. We both had the optional jalapenos - and they were exceptionally spicy and fresh. Fries very good. We had water. Cost (with tip): less than $25. AMBIANCE: 3.5. Inside is cafeteria style with comfortable lighting. Outside seating is nice on a sunny day. Music is modern at a perfect volume - it fades into the background during conversations. SERVICE: 4.5. The woman taking orders was very helpful. The ordered food is brought to your table. No self-bussing the dirty dishes: it is take care of by the efficient wait-staff. read more

When I was living in Montgomery, AL I patronised (and worked for a brief period) a fast-casual place called Zoës Kitchen. As soon as I walked in I was reminded of it, except here it's all vegetarian, celebrate the vegetable! I'm a huge fan of Gardein products and like what Veggie Grill has created with the products. My first visit consisted of ice tea, Buffalo Bomber with coleslaw, and a side of mac n cheese. Nice and spicy buffalo saucy Gardein chickin' with cool house made (no MSG) ranch. I like Amy's vegan mac n cheese, so the mac n cheese didn't surprise me. Don't get me wrong, I LOOOOVE hearty, creamy real mac n cheese, but this stuff is very good! Flavourful, creamy, and rich.
