Normally, I would give Veggie Grill a 3/5. It's very expensive which does not make it accessible to lower income families. Even if Veggie Grill is "healthier" than other fast food chain counterparts, it comes down to price for many families. However, most recently during the COVID-19, they offered a Family Meal Deal for just $39.95! This is a big deal, as normal it would cost way over $100 for what they are offering in this Family Meal Deal. The food here was crazy delicious! I had the Harvest bowl and it was a very generous serving. The flavors were wonderful, there was a sauce that added a great taste but it wasn't overwhelming. This was my first here. We got the Falafel sandwich and the "chicken" burrito ! Both were not too bad. The flavors in the burrito was really good. I really enjoyed this place! I love the clean decor and spaciousness of the restaurant. Was this the old Johnny Rockets? I don't even remember anymore. Two of my coworkers and I came in here for a lunch date and we all ordered different entrees. I went for the baja fiesta salad with "chickin" and liked it a LOT. I ate the whole thing. It tasted so fresh and delicious. Loved the papaya, corn, melon, quinoa, etc. everything in it was tasty. I also like how they separate the dressing so we can add as little or as much as we want. The presentation of the food was magnificent too. My coworkers both ordered sandwiches and they liked it as well! Only one of us was a vegetarian, but we all thought the chicken tasted like real chicken. Although I could taste the hint of tofu in there, but I love faux meat so it didn't matter to me anyway. We shared the mac and cheese and the buffalo wings. You can definitely skip the mac and cheese, the pasta tasted weird and too hard... not a fan. The buffalo wings were good though! They're more like chicken strips. They also have a variety of teas and lemonades that looked tasty and fresh too. I'll try one of those next time. Service was quick and efficient. This place never disappoints-just because it's meatless doesn't mean it doesn't taste good. I've been here a few times and have tried a few different items including the warm kale salad and tortilla soup, both delicious! Last week I got to experience the harvest bowl, a new item off their menu and boy did it hit the comfort spot. There is an earthy and creamy texture to the dish and not to mention the fresh veggies that are included (kale and mushrooms). I didn't mind the substitute sausage and in fact, the same item was used for the buffalo wings which were a nice appetizer. The sauce that came with the wings was dairy-free so bonus for whoever is lactose intolerant. Brian, the manager, was really knowledgeable and helpful-he even offered to get refills for our drinks. The place isn't like OMG FABULOUS. It's like yeah that was fine and got the job done. The burger we got was tiny. It was like a burger for a gnome, so we had to go back for more. The salad we got then was big enough for two so it seems there is a lack of consistency in portions between different menu selections. It is clean, and has that sort of a "trying to be cool deco" that indicates decorating decisions made en mass at corporate head quarters rather than local groovy and actually cool. I used to come here often before we moved. We were in the area and decided to drop in. The staff are great but the food was awful, awful, awful. Tried that new thanksgiving dinner sandwich. It arrived looking awful, like glop on a plate. Cranberries overpowered it, stuffing was tasteless and the texture was mush or slime or what you get when you mix those two things together. I don't know what happened to the business. The food quality is getting worse unfortunately. We ordered a takeaway family meal two weeks ago. The guacamole was tasteless, Mac and cheese was tasteless either, both didn't seem to have any seasonings; the sweet potato fries was not covered with anything (fries were just put into a white paper cup and placed on top of other items), and the quinoa salad had no crumbles and beans in it (probably forgot to add to mine). Very disappointed...... I wanna give 1 star, but given Veggie Grill was once a great vegan restaurant we loved, I added 1 more star. Came here with some friends. Legit the first time I've ever been to a Veggie Grill. Sat down and noticed right away that available parts of the restaurant were dirty with food all over the floor. I ordered the Wunderbrat + cup of soup. 15-20 minutes pass- my friend's food/soups had already come and I was still waiting. They pretty much finished their meals by the time a server came over and informed me that their sausages were "frozen solid" so they wouldn't be able to offer them to me. Normally, I wouldn't mind and would've just opted to order something else. But she was barely apologetic and seemed really annoyed. She asked me if I wanted to get anything else. I'm confused- am I supposed to commit the menu to memory? Super long awkward pause before she said "Oh, I'll bring over a menu." Okay then... She then goes over to the table next to ours, telling them the same thing. This time, she offers condolences and mentions that she can provide complimentary food. Uh... cool? At least do it out of earshot so I don't feel like you're being rude on purpose. Obviously I'm not going to waste more money here so I went up to the cashier to get a refund... and the cashier asks me: "So what's the reason for the refund?" I was actually baffled. I have gone to Veggie Grill for many years and in many cities! It is the best vegan fast food chain (compared to others like Native Foods in Chicago) and has consistently tasty food. There are healthier options (like salads and bowls) and less healthy ones too (burgers, dessert, etc). I really appreciate that the nutrition information is included online. One of my favorite appetizers is the buffalo cauliflower with orange glaze. SO good. I usually get a sandwich, but this time around I opted to try the Bulgogi Beef Bowl - it had a lot of protein and in the middle of a bike ride, that seemed good. The vegan beef was surprisingly good (I have never had real beef) and it took about 20 minutes for the takeout to be ready. I would say, though, that it is a little pricey and the portion size wasn't huge. At least in this takeout version. read more

I just love veggie grill. What could be better than fairly healthy, plant-based fast food that also happens to be FREAKING DELICIOUS?? I usually get the pick-two, with half a kale ceasar salad and sweetheart fries (sweet potato). The salad is amazing and even has tempeh bacon so you get the crunchy/smoky flavor along with the fresh lemon and Caesar dressing. They top it off with cucumber, avocado, croutons and parmesan. Just writing about it makes me NEED one in my life. They also do a great job dressing up the beyond burgers. Oh! And the Aguas frescas are not to be missed! Just the right amount of flavor, not too sweet, they are awesome on a hot day. I like eating here because I feel like I can get my quick comfort food fix without wrecking my tummy or my wallet. And I get to smile knowing no one had to die for me to enjoy my dinner. Win-win-win! read more

She also would like me to note that the pomegranate green tea was super good. This visit definitely made up for the previous one. The burgers were both super delicious. The crispy chicken had a nice exterior and the inside was soft. The guacamole was a nice accompaniment. Veggies were fresh and crisp too! Fries as always were great, not too salty. Girlfriend loved her burger, kept commenting on how good it was/reminiscent of a real burger (we haven't had one in about a year). I went for lunch on a Wednesday and the place wasn't too crowded, which is why I don't understand what took them so long to make my order. I ordered the Mediterranean salad plate to-go and I sat waiting for over 15 mins and then when I went back up to check on the order it was ready but they hadn't called my name! Then to add insult to injury, when I got home I realized they forgot to put my dressing in the bag! The sandwich was so flavorful, and the texture of the "meat" tasted so real, it could've fooled anyone. Not a fan of the mac and cheese though. It totally tasted...not like mac and cheese. Veggie Grill in U.Village can be an absolute madhouse. We met friends on a Saturday afternoon and nearly every table was taken and the line was about 5 deep. The menu is big and can be a bit daunting but most things are pretty delicious, made fresh and filling. My partner is not vegetarian and his only complaint was the size of his burger. He wished it was bigger because it was so darn scrumptious (he had the Steakhouse burger). I enjoyed my Beyond burger with grilled onions. Our friends chowed down on the quinoa burger and All Hail Kale salad, which was a big ol' hearty bowl of salad-y goodness. However, I came here once during the summer and they flat out burned me meal - to which I complained about and got a free meal voucher. I love a place that specializes in vegetarian food - so rare where I'm from. I ended up ordering the taco salad. It was tasty but the protein on there lacked a little flavor. All the veggies were fresh and they were kind of enough to bring out some pico de gallo per my request. I could have tried many other things on the menu (falafel, wraps, burgers, etc). I love having a vegan place in U. Village that is quick, convenient, and filling. It's definitely not the best food in the world, but it does the job when you are craving fast(ish) food. My main complaint for this particular location is that while very nice and friendly, the employees here are LOUD. Don't come here if you want to read a book while eating, or have a relaxing lunch with a friend. The kitchen staff and the servers are continuously yelling at each other from across the restaurant, laughing, and whooping it up as if it's not a restaurant but someone's backyard BBQ. I'm glad they're having fun and feel comfortable, but as someone who is sensitive to noise, I find myself incredibly annoyed every time I eat here. Please have a conversation with your employees about using inside voices and approaching each other to chat instead of yelling across the room. Thank you! read more

This is my go-to spot for a healthy lunch when I'm shopping around at U-village. I always order the Far East Bowl. Not sure what happened or if they downgraded on ingredients, but my previous orders have not been consistent. The Far East Bowl usually comes with multi-colored rice and broccolini. Falafel Wrap - sadly a disappoint. I love falafel but the bread it came in was too thick and it kept falling apart. Corn - one of my favorite sides I've tried! The spices and sauce are really delicious with the corn. Fried cauliflower - not my favorite sides because I think it lacks some flavor, but it was very crispy. If I could leave zero stars I would. My mom and I waited over an hour for our food while watching several people who were in line behind us (including a large family of 6) being served. After the first 30 minutes, a man who seemed to be a supervisor or manager came by us and asked if we were still waiting on food to which we replied yes. He told us he would see what the hold up was, then disappeared for another 10 or so minutes. When we saw him again, he was bussing tables. I caught him and let him know we were still waiting for our order to which he responded "Oh, right. I'll check." After another 15 mins, we saw this same man bringing food to another family that had come in after us. At this point I stood up, when he caught my eye, he said, "sorry, I'm checking now," but at this point I stopped him and asked for our money back. Not only had they seemingly forgotten about our order, his attempts at customer service were killed by the fact that he'd forgotten about us two more times!! There are many Veggie Grills, but unfortunately not where I live currently. No matter where I go and visit, though, I'll always head to VG - and Seattle is no exception. I came to this location for Thanksgiving lunch with my vegan partner, and we are both always pleased with our food. I consistently get the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich - I can't describe how freaking good it is. I highly recommend to anyone coming here for their first time. VG has super yummy nachos too - I also recommend those if you're just looking for something to share. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back right now! My only two complaints are that it's very pricey, it can take a long while to get your food, and that they got rid of the coleslaw - I do not like their French fries, and their coleslaw was amazing. I love this place, but one criticism. I heard a Dough Boys Podcast episode about Veggie Grill and they were very happy with it. They talked specifically about the mac and cheese so I wanted to try it. I have been to Veggie Grill multiple times but had never tried the mac and cheese. I took two bites and it was so spicy I couldn't finish it. There is cayenne pepper in it (I think that was the spice). For those of us who can't deal with spice of any kind the question of "Is it spicy is a yes or no question". For people who like some spiciness there are degrees, but for me it's all too spicy. There was no mention on the menu of spice so I was irritated by that. Otherwise the burger was great. I had the one with caramelized onions and bleu cheese, which actually tasted like bleu cheese somehow. I have loved pretty much all of it, But guys warn us spice weenies! read more

I love meat -or anything with parents- more than the next gal. But this place is so darn good that I'd quit meat altogether! Well...
