We ordered on the phone and it only took 15-20 minutes to wait for pick up. Shaking Beef ($14.25) - Love the texture, sauce, and pure abundance of the beef balls. Potatoes Curry ($10.50) - This is on the sweeter side, but I appreciate the inclusion of tofu and imitation meat with the curry and would still get again. Chow Mein ($10.50) - Plenty of vegetables and the flavor is very mild. Salt & Pepper Shrimp ($14.50) - The shrimp is crunchy on the outside, so be sure to take it off the bed of veggies it's placed on when you order! This was one of our favorites because of the texture and heat. Spicy Noodle Soup ($9.50) - Mild flavor, but tons of imitation meat toppings to compensate. read more

Veggie Today is a wonderful family Vietnamese/ Asian inspired vegan restaurant. They are a true hidden gem in the community. I've been coming here for the better part of a decade now and have yet to have a bad dish. Everything is lovingly made and the owner are super humble and kind. If you go to a movie at the theaters across the street, give them a try as you maybe surprised to find just how flavorful and satisfying vegan food can be. read more

On Friday, I ordered takeout from Veggie Today. You can call-in and order or they have a walk-up counter at the front door, which is what I opted to do. One of my go-to's is the Combination Stir Fry Veggies that comes with rice (brown or white...I opted for brown). Very fresh, just as tasty! They also offer (all vegan) lunch specials, currently, from 12-4 PM on Wednesday-Friday, according to the 'to-go' menu. Because of COVID-19, there's no dine-in and they have adjusted hours of operation (their current hours are attached, but as things can change with this pandemic, these hours are subject to change too). IMPORTANT! Veggie Today has a health inspection with a PASS rating (see photo) and hasn't had any violations since 2018. There's also a downloadable app, Food Inspector, to look up many restaurant's inspection reports. I wish I had taken photos before we scarfed down all the food. I took my niece who is a vegetarian today for lunch and it was excellent! We had the crispy drumsticks and the egg rolls for an appetizer and the potato curry and lemon chicken. Omg! The food is really good, fresh ingredients, flavored well with lots of spices but not hot. This is my second time here and I liked it the first time and will definitely come more frequently. I'm not a vegetarian and loved it! I didn't feel like I missed meat and the substitute for chicken were great. I'll be back and encourage you to try it out. There is ample parking. Wow, what a hidden gem! We have thoroughly enjoyed Veggie Today's Pho and Spicy Noodle Soup. Best vegetarian pho we've had in the east bay so far. Recently turned vegan and finding it nearly impossible to find 100% vegetarian places to eat out so I was pleasantly surprised to find Asian food (my fav) so near to Concord's bustling Salvio Square. We were here for a late lunch and had the place pretty much to ourselves. Very friendly and attentive service. We ordered too much food to finish though as the portions are generous. Our favs were definitely the sweet n sour beef soup and steamed brown rice. We also got the chicken drumsticks appetizer....those were fun. Don't let their modest decor and missing 9 on their address fool you - this place is worth the try! Veggie Today is located on Salvio St. next to Swagat and across from Brenden Theater. Almost 100% vegan (anything with wonton is made with egg) their menu really delivers! My husband and I ordered their Fried Drumsticks, Combo Chow Mein, and Mongolian Chicken. The fried drumsticks are *just* like the drumsticks that Timeless Coffee serves with their Chicken & Waffles special! It was fried a bit deeper here but tastes just as good. It's served with a "special sauce", which is a sesame ginger sauce, that gives it that perfect finishing touch. The Chow Mein is made with thin fried noodles, which reminded me of a Filipino dish called Pancit, and I absolutely loved it - I ate the whole thing! (don't judge! haha) I didn't care too much for the Mongolian Chicken; it wasn't bad - just wasn't quite what I was looking for (kind of sweet to me) ... My husband liked it and even brought home the leftovers; so I won't knock it too much I was happy to hear that they're able to serve Thai Iced Tea with soy milk - yum! I finished that too If you can't tell I'm an advocate of this place not only because Vegan places in the East Bay are few and far between but also because the food here is delicious! I'm so happy I found another plant based Asian restaurant! I was excited to try, so I came here on a weekend afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. They have a barrier/order counter right at the front of the place, so only one person can order at a time. The service is pretty fast and the staff were very friendly. Curry fried rice: I loved the flavor of this dish- the curry flavor was strong, but also subtle at the same time- it's quite hard to describe?! I really enjoyed the texture of the rice- just think curry flavored jasmine rice (chewy, thick & full of flavor)! Lemongrass chicken (vegan, don't forget): I actually thought this dish was going to be more on the "dry" side, based on other lemongrass chicken (vegan) dishes I've had. It was actually really soupy. It was very tasty and the lemongrass flavor was really apparent. This would be my go-to dish! Been eyeing this place for a bit now and finally decided to try it out with the bf. It wasn't too bad for our first Asian vegan food experience! I ordered the spicy noodle soup (aka Vietnamese bun bo hue) and he ordered the potato curry. The "beef" texture was similar to mushrooms and I love mushrooms so I had no problem finishing all my "meat" in my soup (which was always my problem when eating pho & bun bo hue). The broth was kind of sweet for my taste and wasn't spicy at all. My boyfriend loved the potato curry and he said "let's come back again next time. I want to try their fried rice" lol So I guess we'll probably come back here more often and try more of their dishes! read more

I have been eating here for years and this place is always consistently delicious. They have kept things going beautifully through COVID shifts, although my only comment is that the claypot dishes don't transfer as well to take-out as they taste dine-in, but that is only a minor inconvenience. Sooooo good!!! I was craving a hot noodle soup on a cold windy day and the Rice Noodle Soup (2.3) answered my cravings! This soup was very flavorful and contained everything I wanted especially the mix of yummy veggies. To go, I ordered the chow mein and the ginger chicken and those were full of flavor as well. I also ordered a vegan thai iced tea but I think they gave me a regular thai iced tea with half & half because it didn't taste like soy milk so make sure you reiterate Vegan Thai Iced tea two times. The staff was super friendly and I loved that the girl who took my order smiled a lot. Nowadays no one smiles much so I appreciated that she genuinely smiled at me :) I highly recommend this place if you are craving a hot soup or a rice/noodle dish, you won't be disappointed! read more

Yummy vegan food! A couple items are vegetarian (have egg or milk) and is noted on menu. Thai tea is not vegan, but can be if you ask for plant mylk. Only complaints: - Salt and pepper shrimp batter is a bit hard and too crunchy. Also, I hope they're consider reducing their disposable waste. They give out paper place mats which was wasteful. We always come here to eat. Since we became vegetarians/vegans 5 years ago. Workers are always nice and the food here is always excellent. We always get the shaking beef and the deep fried fish. You can't go wrong with either of the two. Also recently we tried the spicy soup on a cold and and the broth was delicious. Will always come back here to eat. read more

The food at this restaurant is so flavorful and delicious!!! There are so many things that I love about this restaurant! I love that there are so many vegetarian/vegan options! The menu has a large selection of entrees to choose from! I have tried many things on the menu and always enjoy trying new things when I come here. The Wonton Soup and Curry Chicken are absolutely amazing and the appetizers are all delicious as well!!! We almost always get the eggrolls and highly recommend them to others since they are so yummy! The prices of the dishes are very reasonable! The staff here are really attentive and friendly! I really enjoy knowing that the food is also really healthy for you!!! The location is also great! There is a parking lot across the street and there is usually plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant, which is really nice! Todos Santos square is right across the street. Oh. My. Gaga. This spot is fantastic! There really isn't a better word to describe this spot! Everything from service or food selection to cleanliness was spot on. Superb, even! The sister-in-law recently became vegan. Which means, we all become semi-vegan haha. Or we try to be supportive, at least. One in every 8 meals is completely vegan - pretty good ratios amirite? Anywho, a coworker of mine told me about this spot. Bookmarked it, and was so excited to try it out when the fam was back in town. We easily made ressies for a group of 11 at 11:30am on a Saturday. In fact, we were the only ones there for the better half of our meal. I felt a little worried about it, until we started trying out our food. Seriously, OMG. SO. SOOOO. GOOD. We tried a dish in every category. My stand-out faves were: "chicken" drum stick app (they even make it look like a bone in the middle(!)), "seafood" soup (the "shrimp"...how does it actually taste like it?!), shaking "beef" (by FAR the best dish), and "fish" clay pot (Mom couldn't stop raving about this one). Honestly, everything we ordered was good. You really can't go wrong with anything. 1000% a comebacker! Can't wait to try out more dishes. After 4 years, I am finally able to eat Mongolian beef again! (Or any beef) Thanks to this place! I came here around lunch after class. You could park in front or there's parking at the side as well, and it's for an hour. This place is a little hard to notice when driving by so keep an eye out! Lunch specials are $6.75 - very good price especially since dishes come with brown or white rice. I obviously ordered the Mongolian beef and the portions were bigger than expected! Well, for me it was. First bite was a bit chewy, but you know, that's expected for tofu and the flavor was pretty darn good. The brown rice was perfect and there were enough veggies too. Today was my first day to eat vegan food at a restaurant. The windows were dirty and the Open sign was crooked. I straightened up the sign as I walk in the door. I had a very tasty with dish soy chicken that had a good texture and made me feel like I was eating meat. My wife had some soup with rice noodles and imitation beef that was very flavorful. I don't know how they make that delicious broth without meat. Both dishes were served beautifully on the plate and bowl. The Thai iced coffee was delicious. Better than I expected as when I mentioned they look like Vietnamese drip coffee the waitress said it was more American. Eggrolls were served a piping hot and delicious. The service was good and the inside seating was enjoyable and cozy. The windows to the place could use a squeegee to make the outside more appealing for customers thinking about walking in. I'll overlook that and come back. read more

I have been on a health kick since my hospitalization and God knows how long that would last! I know...I know, this has to be a lifestyle change rather than a short-term stint! I would not have ordinarily patronized three vegan restaurants in a row. I thought this time it would be interesting to check out for the first time a Vietnamese vegetarian/vegan restaurant! I started with the tried and true Wonton Soup. ($6.75) It was no surprise that this was an adaptation from the Chinese. While Veggie Today's version might not be 100% vegan as reported by some yelpers, it did give some hearty slurps. The broth was strong and aromatic with crunchy baby bok choy, broccoli, slivers of fried onions and fresh herbs slow boiled into a full-bodied broth. The wonton skin however was of inferior quality being coarse, thick and doughy rather than smooth, thin and silky. (3/5) My wife is a spice fiend and she can never resist a piping hot bowl of Vermicelli Curry ($6.75) with all its fixings. For my sake, she ordered it mild and it had just the right level of heat although the broth still looked threateningly reddish. We both agreed it was disappointing on two counts. Firstly, the curry broth was overwhelmed by an overload of lemongrass. I don't deny lemongrass does impart a nice flavor and fragrance if used judiciously. But in this case, it overpowered everything else in the curry! Secondly, the broth was over the top sweet. I had to squeeze lemon juice to dilute the sweetness and bring it down to a more palatable level. (2/5) The Mushroom Tofu Claypot ($9.50) was self-explanatory. Shitake mushrooms and pan-fried cubes of tofu were braised in a thick sweet sauce. The sauce was tasty no doubt, but like the curry, it was overly sweet. This was unfortunate as the sauce need not be this sweet! Plus, you need not be an ardent fan of tofu to enjoy this! We salvaged the tofu and mushroom pieces leaving the sauce. We could have used a little of the sauce by drizzling it over brown rice and eating it that way! (2.5/5) We saved the best for last! Salted and Pepper Shrimp ($13.50) was served over a bed of traditional Vietnamese style salad in a sweet and savory dressing. There were the unmistakable tastes of cilantros and jalapenos! Without exception, all other yelpers raved about this dish! I wouldn't say the faux shrimps had the exact same texture and taste of real shrimps but were darn close. The savoriness and sweetness blended well together with a super crispy batter to boot. (4/5) As expected in most Asian restaurants, service was non-existent. The young server was like a deer in headlights and clueless of the food she served. The décor was definitely no frills where you are expected to eat and leave and not so much to linger. It was a definite plus that MSG was not used to adulterate the natural flavors. On the minus side, I believe sugar was used as a substitute and that might explain the over the top sweetness in their dishes. Diabetics beware, as this is a question of win some and lose some. read more
