After seeing a Chinese feast at the end of Love Island Season 8 (so happy Bryce and Trinity won), I was inspired to have a traditional Chinese meal. I accidentally found Kung Fu Kitchen by reading another Yelper's reviews who was at the same Stretch Zone I was trying out in Clayton. Like others have mentioned, the shrimp is plump and succulent. I enjoyed the shrimp in my chow fun. The chow fun itself had good texture albeit too much soy sauce. The Hong Kong noodles were beautiful to look at and had everything you can imagine on it. There were two kinds of mushrooms, chicken, beef, sweet peas, shrimp and bok choy. The sauce in the Hong Kong noodles was not very strong but the amount of high quality toppings made up for it. The dry braised green beans had good crunch and there was a generous amount but the flavoring was also on the light side. This is good for people on low sodium diets. Both the Hong Kong noodle dish and the green bean dish were generously sized but the chow fun dish is more of a one person dish. They come on nice bright white plates. Prices were not cheap but it is the norm for the area. We paid close to 60 dollars after tip for three dishes at lunch and had some leftovers. They have very good lunch specials on the weekdays that give you plenty of food for about 13 dollars a person. People near us were enjoying their lunch specials. However, I advise taking to go on hot days because it was 95° inside the restaurant and there was no AC. I really don't like to write to-go order reviews but since more than half the business here is to go, I am caving in. They use a Door Dash interface for to go orders with no apparent fee to customers. I ordered the Singapore rice noodles (my fave) and beef crispy noodles. Both were amazing and pretty big. In the area and hungry for lunch. We stopped by and picked up four dishes. Service is always just a bit slow, they do an outstanding take-out business. Not to worry, unless you're really short on time, it's worth the wait. The food is that good. We got two "Appetizers". Korean Chicken Wings and Deep Fried Chicken Salad. Additionally, we ordered two Lunch Specials, Eggplant in Spicy Sauce with Brown Rice and String Beans Three Combo with Chow Mein. The Salad rated a 4, while everything else rated a 5. The Salad was passable but could have been so much more with some additional ingredients such as Cilantro, Green Onions, Mandarin Oranges and another lettuce besides Iceberg, such as Romaine. The people working here were nice, but... The food here did not taste authentic at all... The batter on the orange chicken and sweet and sour pork was so thick that you could barely taste the meat. The salt and pepper tofu tasted like it had zero salt and used what tasted like store bought tofu from Safeway or something. The best dish was the green beans. This food spot is really good. Ordered on a whim while attending an event at Retro Junkie. We ordered it on DoorDash for a pickup. It was ready on time, very flavorful and so delicious. It was enough for two to share and for leftovers the next day. Can now confirm that the food is just as good at Kung Fu Kitchen. The servings are family style sized for sharing, and the two of us had leftovers for 2 more meals. We ordered: General's Chicken (4.5/5) has a tiny bit of spice to it Shrimp with Lobster Sauce (4.5/5) comes with plenty of delicious vegetables Shrimp Fried Rice (4.5/5) Needs more shrimp, tastes great Chinese Broccoli with oyster sauce (5/5) perfect I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 25 mins. My plan was to eat at another establishment close to Kung Fu Kitchen, but parking led me in front of their store. I got out of my car, and the Chinese signs on their windows piqued my curiosity. Suddenly, I had a craving for Chinese food. There were only about four tables inside, with one table open, just like it was waiting for me! I ordered their lunch special - the Hunan trio (chicken, beef, and shrimp) - for a very reasonable price, but it tasted better than those from pricier restaurants in the area. The serving was generous, the meat (all three) was tender, the veggies mixed in the dish tasted delicious and fresh. It was deliciously tasty without being salty. Their hot and sour soup was decent. Kung Fu is a small, no-fuss hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but those are the ones that deliver. I shall return! read more

I grabbed dinner this week at Kung Fu Kitchen in Palos Verdes Mall (Lunardis Markets). I normally get food to go because the Kung Fu is so tiny, but I decided to eat there because I was having honey walnut prawns, which are always the best in the restaurant. Boy, was everything delicious! The chow mein was off the hook! Ophelia was holding down the fort. She packaged food, took orders, and bused tables while joking with customers. She is such a hoot!
