Vegan reviewer here! I've been to veggie village and handful of times and they honestly have some of the best mock chicken dishes in the valley. FYI this is a vegetarian spot but can make just about any dish vegan. My go to meal is the kung pao chicken which comes with rice. Get it, you won't regret it! I've also had the orange chicken, Vietnamese spring rolls, crab puffs and calamari. They were all delicious! The calamari is made from mushroom and taste like the real thing. The orange chicken has a very strong orange flavor since they use real oranges to flavor the dish but it is fresh. The spring rolls are fat and come with a home made peanut sauce. The staff is always friendly and they are quick to take your order. I was on a time crunch today and was in and out for lunch within 30 minutes. read more

I was looking for vegan options and not having a lot of luck then I found Veggie Village. Wow! I was thoroughly impressed. I had a late lunch so instead just got the Tom Yum fried rice with vegan shrimp. The food was freshly made and hot and oh, so delicious. It's a lot of food for one person so I had some left over for the next day. Now, the pineapple pistachio macaroon........it was heavenly and I want a dozen more! I was skeptical as it didn't excite me when I first saw it. But oh so worth it!!!! I even loved the packaging. Definitely worth the visit and will be back if I'm ever back in Phoenix. read more

For vegetarians and vegan foodies, this is a perfect place! Where else can you try the vegan versions of the "Sweet and Sour Chicken" or the "General Tso's Chicken"?! There are the traditional tofu dishes that you could get at any decent asian restaurant, but what sets this place apart are the "Shrimp" and "Fish" dishes and the batter fried "chicken" that is used in both the above listed dishes. We LOVE IT!!! There are two locations in the valley and I highly recommend both these locations. It is a family-owned restaurant and the service is great, restaurant is clean and you can also peek into the kitchen which seems clean. Of course, you can usually tell a restaurant by the cleanliness of its restroom and this one more than passes the minimum threshold. While we were there, a constant trail of online orders were coming in and people following to pick them up. You should try them too! read more

Hands down my new favorite place to eat! All vegan and absolutely amazing. i've tried many different things: sweet and sour shrimp, orange chicken, veggie burger, rainbow salad, fried rice, pepper shrimp, eggplant soup, and a few other things. Everything was 10/10. you can't even tell it's vegan at all. Everything is fresh, the flavors are amazing, and the texture of the mock chicken and mock shrimp is totally on point. I always have a great experience here. Great service and great food. The vegan hot and sour soup is delicious with fresh mushrooms in it. I always get it with a side of brown rice and it is a delicious and affordable meal. The vegan cream cheese wontons were yummy. I recommend this place to everyone, vegan or not. Just thought I would give an updated review for my favorite restaurant! As of right now, Veggie Village is take-out only with their dining area closed. You enter through the side door and pick up/order through a plexiglass window. They now have online ordering and delivery through 3rd parties like Ubereats! My favorite dishes have been the golden shrimp, lettuce wraps ( of course) and General Tso chicken. I honestly have never had a bad dish! read more

One of my family members is vegetarian, when he visits, he requests to get food from this restaurant. We had tried about 20 % of the menu so far in the last few weeks (& last year combined), the verdict is still good. During this time, it's only order out, but they are efficient with their orders & promised time. Food taste great & not pretentious & reasonable prices. We got veggie village for take out and ordered the lettuce wraps and the vegan ginger chicken. First impression of the menu is that they have a lot of fried things..not many stir frys. The ginger chicken was one of the few options. Overall, it was ok. The lettuce wraps were pretty good, but it lacked a little something that I can't describe. The vegan ginger chicken seemed more like ginger with chicken on the side. The texture of the vegan chicken was firm. While it didn't taste exactly like chicken, it was good. What got me about this dish was that there was just too much ginger! My sister and I took time scooping chucks of ginger out. Also the dish itself is very saucy, which I like, but the restaurant used a waxed brown box container as opposed to something more fitting to ensure no leakage. Perhaps this is a place to go in and try in person? Or maybe another dish. read more

Sesame chicken to Die for! We had planned on eating at a plant based restaurant not too far away and discovered they decided to close 5 hours early. We searched for a different restaurant and came upon Veggie Village. What an unexpected DELICIOUS surprise. My husband ordered the sesame chicken (1/2 soy, 1/2 mushrooms) w/ brown rice and I ordered the veggie delight w/ brown rice. My veggie delight was yummy. I loveddd the mushrooms in it and the sauce was tasty. I almost wish I asked to replace the tofu with mushrooms. The sesame chicken.....was Insanely delicious. As soon as we opened the takeout container...the smell that emitted from the box was...pure deliciousness. Smelled like fried goodness with a hint of sweetness. One bite of the mushroom sesame chicken and just the flavour...the sauce....ITS SO GOOD. Judging by how flavourful and well balanced the sweet and savoury sauce was...they probably have a lot of other yummy dishes. If we come back to Phoenix, we would def come back here. read more

Great and quick service! The vegan shrimp and the fried rice are my favorite things I've tried so far.

I appreciated all the vegan meats this restaurant offered. I got the vegetable curry and it was delicious. It comes with tofu. Spice level was perfect to still taste the flavor of the curry. I also tried the Chia seed honeydew juice and it was delightful to have a refreshing slightly sweet drink with the spicy curry. I didn't care for the spring rolls ..not much flavor for me. The only complaint was the to go packaging. The curry has liquid and they put it in a cardboard box. Liquid leaked out of the cardboard and soaked through the paper bag and was a bit of a mess to clean up off the surface I set it on. I'd order from Veggie Village again! Maybe next time I'll try the vegan seafood. read more

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised I found Veggie Village after a hike on Piestewa Peak. I'm not familiar with the area so I used my handy dandy Yelp app. I searched " vegan" and was given the following recommendation. I walked in and placed an order. The food was done pretty quick but not too quick if you know what I mean. The staff was pleasant and the establishment was clean. First, their food is prepared quickly, yet it doesn't taste like it. Portions are generous and flavor is on point. I go to VV two/month, and I order enough last 2-3 days - I get to try several things. Faves: roti prata, yu-xiang eggplant, and tom yam tofu. Tasty vegan and vegetarian. We tried the sesame chicken and the sweet and sour shrimp, one brown rice and one white rice. The chefs here must be magical because I have no idea how meatless food tastes like meat AND tastes so good. The mushroom base was my favorite, partly due to the fact that soy upsets my stomach. Veggie Village is a little hole in the wall where they serve the most delicious vegetarian food with mock "chicken, shrimp, and beef". We had the potstickers that came with a delicious sauce that was so savory-we ate it all! We also had the Tom Yam fried rice and the grilled "shrimp" was textured and flavored just like it's found in nature. We also had the Vegetable Curry with bean curd. This was also savory, but had a nice kick with the spice too. The food came quickly and the service was friendly and accommodating. Will go again! read more

I absolutely adored stopping in veggie Village for the first time. They do to Thai iced tea with coconut milk or soy milk. The orange chicken is absolutely phenomenal. Unlike fast food panda express this Orange Chickun actually resembles and taste like a fragrant mandarin oranges! I enjoyed the carrot slices which also brought out a nice flavor in the sauce. The chickun itself had a wonderful texture and is deep-fried for a nice crisp crunch! I was not a fan of the Pho it lacked the traditional flavor of anise star and tasted more cinnamon flavored almost an indian twist! I would not recommend getting the Pho if you like traditional Vietnamese. read more

I was working in the area and decided to try this restaurant out for lunch. I ended up ordering the Hawaiian Fried Rice. It came with white rice, mixed veggies, pineapple and imitation pork. The portion size was pretty good too. Maybe not $9 worth but I don't mind paying more for healthier food options. It was good but kind of bland. I feel like it was missing a sauce or something. I ordered to go and forgot to ask for soy sauce or like a sweet and sour and there was none in the bag so I ended up having the rice straight up. I walked in during lunch and ordered to go and the process was quick and easy. Took 5 min max to receive my order after placing it. Restaurant was small but decorated nice. Staff was friendly and parking is plentiful and free. Maybe next time I'll try something different. read more

I was in the mood for something healthy when I landed in Phoenix and rented a car just to show how serious my quest was, as I didn't want to default automatically to the hotel restaurant and find an inadvertent wad of French fries in my mouth. Yeah, like those fries would have gotten in my mouth without my full consent. I just happened upon this sparsely decorated eatery on the Yelp app and noticed a lot of approving reviews from what looked like the skinnier Yelpers in the Valley. I don't know Phoenix at all but found myself in what they call the North-Central area of town and there it was in a quiet strip mall. Steamed chicken aficionado that I am, the funny thing was that I had been wanting Hainan chicken which would have put my vegetarian aspirations on the back burner. I have a thing for steamed poultry I can't quite explain except I must be part Singaporean or channeling someone's grandmother up the Yangtze River. As fate would have it, this place was serving as its daily special the $9.95 Mock Hainan Chicken Rice. Such joyous rapture I felt for the prospect of such a culinary creation that I didn't hesitate to order it. It was surprisingly satisfying with the faux-poultry pinch-hitting quite nicely with the cucumber slices, dipping sauces, and infused rice (photo: http://bit.ly/2vcE75g). I also tried the delicious $5.95 Lettuce Wraps, which mixed together sauteed and finely chopped vegan 'meat', mushrooms, water chestnuts, shredded carrot, cilantro leaves, and fried rice noodles into an appetizing filling for the generously sized iceberg lettuce leaves (photo: http://bit.ly/2vcUwXJ). In this case, it was truly indistinguishable from its carnivorous counterpart. Other dishes looked quite tempting as they passed by my table like the Hawaiian Fried Rice and the Rainbow Salad. Located in a strip mall on Northern this little neighborhood spot is worth checking out.. cute modern interior.. can accommodate small groups.. we ordered and food came out quickly. Plenty of options.. something for everyone.. we started with the fried enoki mushroom ($5.95.. perfectly fried) such a pretty dish.. very good. I had the pad Thai with faux shrimp and tofu ($8.95) big enough to share.. flavors were very good. My bf had the village fried rice ($7.95) it was good, kind of a smoky dish. And the General Tso was fried mushroom, bell peppers and broccoli with brown rice on the side.. the fried mushroom is amazing ($8.95)!! You don't miss the meat in this dish.. if you love mushroom you'll love this .. We will definitely be back to try some of the other options. I love this restaurant! It's my first time coming here and I was so surprised the prices were comparable to fast food even! The food is so good. I'm not vegetarian or vegan but i do like it when my food makes me feel more refreshed than weighed down. Especially in the summer time. If I lived closer to this area I would eat here all the time! I really really liked Veggie Village! Started with the vegan cream cheese wontons, hakka tofu and the enoki mushrooms appetizers... The tofu was the most fun to eat with variety of texture and a little spice, but it wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. The mushrooms were a surprise hit to me with their texture. And pretty much everyone loves a wonton, right? For entrees, we had the Kung Pao and the General's "chick'n". Both were very tasty. I like the layer the peanuts add to the Kung Pao. Veggie Village is so appetizing, it's got my ignorant, proudly carnivorous associates wanting to give it a try. Like seriously, just bait someone into saying veg food is stupid, then show them my photo. They'll feel stupid because this is amazing. Some dishes here try to vaguely imitate meat. My sesame "chicken" was surprisingly made with lightly fried mushrooms as opposed to some soy substitute. I also sampled some grilled tofu with a rich, spicy peanut sauce that I'd love to have over some brown rice and vegetables sometime. My only complaint is I think they could survive toning it down a bit on the salt. It's definitely overboard and I would have enjoyed my meal just as much had it contained less. I subtract no stars, as I was practically licking my plate! Overall, this menu is expansive without sacrificing quality, and surprisingly affordable and accessible. If you're in central Phoenix already, most definitely consider going a bit far up north to check out what Veggie Village has to offer. read more

Fantastic food! Excellent and quick service! Veggie Village hit the hunger spot in the perfect way. We ordered appetizers and two courses. The plates were licked clean and any morsels fallen to the table felt like missed opportunity. We don't eat out often but the next time we do, it'll be at Veggie Village. read more
