This place has amazing matcha!! I definitely recommend over some of the boba spots around town. They are pretty quick to make the orders. This is after whisking the matcha ceremonial style as well!! Definitely found this on humbug off downtown around Quality Hill area.. you'd missed it if you're not from around the area. Located right on the corner where, truth be told parking is a challenge. Up stairs and newly open cafe, has a unique concept & setup. Upon entrance there's table seating to right, a projected movie was on the wall, and to the right seating on top second level. Pass the seating is the order counter and parallel a bench/tables/chair combo seating arrangement. Two hit matchas to go- one with earl grey (Soft Fog) and the other with ube! We tried Veil for the first time and it was a 10/10 for me. I tried the vanilla matcha and it was good 7/10 i wish it had a little more matcha but the flavor was good. BUT i did get another drink, matcha with banana and the barista recommended an UBE cold foam and it was SOO GOOD, (thxs so much for the recommendation) even though there were alot of people first thing in the morning they were kind and it went by super fast! i would 100% come again. read more

Good vibes all around! I love the alley/backside entrance to Veil which makes it feel almost like a speakeasy. Friendly service and house made syrups are a bonus. Veil is a great addition to the Union Hill area. Tucked back in an alley, the space is warm and inviting. Also when the weather is better the outside seating around the corner will be nice. The coffee is delicious. Rich and dark, but the flavors are why you need to come here. They are a little different than other places and not too sweet. I got the Ube, which from the picture you can't see in my cold brew. BUT I promise my coffee is purple. My friend really liked her blushed matcha. The blushed means that it came with a little strawberry. 10/10. Will be back!! read more

Came here on a chilly Friday morning and absolutely loved the vibe. I love the projector as a nice touch which really made the ambiance feel nice and inviting. The staff was incredibly kind, and I love their simple standard menu but they also have signature syrup combinations that are espresso and matcha friendly! They have a selection of pastries from Scratch bakery and plenty of indoor and outdoor 2-4 top tables. Enjoyed my coffee, but didn't enjoy the price! Very average--definitely a popular place to try right now though! Love the ambiance. Was suprised at how busy it was midday. Not quiet enough to study without feeling like you're taking up tables. Didn't try any of the food. My friend got her latte iced and she couldn't taste any coffee and didnt finish her drink. The coffee here is pretty, as well as the matcha! I think the space is a little bit chaotic and they haven't exactly figured out the flow of everything yet. There are often quite a few people who camp out, making it difficult to ever sit and have a coffee. Additionally, the space is very hard to find with the entrance in back, they could use some signs or directions from the street. read more

This is a tough one to review since there was so much that I disliked about my experience, yet I really can't take stars away for what they have created. The place was packed shortly after noon on a Saturday - congratulations for being so popular in such a secluded space. The address in 800 Broadway, but you will need to go to the back alley and navigate a flight of stairs to find the small cafe. Once inside I was assaulted with a short wait to order, a much longer wait to get my drink and no place to sit down and enjoy my beverage after reaching my destination. Although it took awhile to get my double espresso, I can't fault the staff - all three employees were hustling. The other thing that annoyed me because of the crowd was the noise level - with coffee equipment, dozens of conversations, quasi-loud background music and a high ceilinged space with nothing to absorb the sound, the din was deafening on my old fragile ears. I was glad there was no seating so I could escape the sound onslaught and get rid of the claustrophobia I was feeling. My double shot sourced from Marcel Roasters was a wonderful boost of caffeine while I walked back to my vehicle to venture 30 blocks to another coffeeshop that I could savor a beverage and pastry. Even though my experience was less than optimal, I witnessed hordes of younger, hipper urban dwellers enjoying their beverages in a crowded loud room with anime film projected on the wall. I truly wish this place continued success, so I don't feel guilty when I drive past to a more tranquil and less claustrophobic cafe. read more
