I wanted to grab some pizza before leaving New York, so I chose Syracuse. It's a popular local spot that everyone recommends. I ordered two slices and some wings. They packed everything nicely so I could take it on the plane. When I got home, the food was just as good--one slice with pepperoni, the other with cheese. The wings were flavorful and still tasted great after reheating in the oven. The place has a simple setup inside, but it's definitely a pizza spot I'll be returning to. I came here for the first time earlier in the week and placed an order for pizzas for my daughter's birthday party later that week. The gentleman who took the order was very patient and professional and assured me they would be ready by 12:15 since they open at 12 on Saturday. My son and I arrived just a little before 12:15 a to pick them up and they were ready to go right when they said they would be! We got back to the car and my son opened up the box containing a vegetable pizza and I swear the thing looked almost too good to eat. Most veggie pizzas look like someone took stuff off a salad bar and threw it on a pizza. Not this one! The bright colors from the peppers looked like they were arranged just right to give it an almost artistic feel. Needless to say they were a hit at her party and while my family and I don't order food out often, the good folks at Paladino's got themselves some new customers in my family and me. This used to be 1 of the 2 pizza places in the Syracuse area I would turn to for somewhat in the ballpark NYC style pizza. What has changed is that there are a few pizzerias in the area that have as good or better pies. Now, Paladino's is no doubt still good, but there's one peculiarity about their pizza; when you order a slice in house it is always crispy and always from an 18" pie. When you order a whole pie to go, the largest is 16" and it always has a soft, albeit thin, crust. Their sauce is good, the cheese a little heavy with no stretch or snap and overly oily. The crust has good flavor. Hey, Paladino's, why don't yous make an 18" pie to go? 16" pies are 22% smaller and the slices do not fold quite right. read more

Nice thin, crispy crust with a little flop. Good amount of cheese. There was a nice selection of different pies, but I just needed my favorite... cheese. There are quite a few tables so it was nice to sit and eat in it was a little after lunch but still a bit busy. Solid choice. read more

After an eight hour drive we were all starving! Searched for a good pizza place in the area of our hotel and find Paladino's. They don't deliver but offer dine in and take out. Hubby is a huge fan of buffalo chicken pizza so we ordered a medium (14") buffalo wing pizza (took 20 minutes because they made it fresh). They sell by the slice pizza as well and you select those from the case fresh. I decided to try this broccoli pizza and it was DELICIOUS--everyone took a bite and really enjoyed it. I also got the mushroom and cheese pizza. It was good but lol I wish I got two slices of that broccoli pizza. I had a kiddo get a pepperoni slice and a cheese slice. Our favorite thing about all the pizzas is that they have a thin crest, plump crest edge, C R I S P Y bottom and the sauces and toppings and cheese were perfect. We also ordered 5 garlic knots. We could have ordered 10...20 of those. Really puffy, garlicky and buttery good! They stick them into the oven for a bit for you when you order them. Everyone working there this evening was so kind and helpful. I think they could tell we were tired and frustrated but they were patient with us and helped us through the ordering process. I believe the owner was there as well and one of the regulars were asking why they discontinued a specialty pizza and he said that every night there is a Friday night. They are just SO busy. Pizza was floppy, greasy, and was impossible to pick up without dousing my hand in orange oil. Absolutely perfect. If you need it to stay together, eat it cold. But hot and floppy is where it's at. Friendly service, pizza was almost perfect. Although the crust had a nice crunch, it was a bit too chewy for me. We ordered a dozen garlic Parmesan wings and those were too oily for my liking and they didn't have all that much of a unique taste. We also ordered an antipasto which was drowned in dressing, but the lettuce was fresh tasting and had a good crisp crunch. This place is standard issue when you're on the north side looking for a non-complicated pizza. Quick service, regular price, reliably good pizza, never had any problems. They make the pizza exactly to my preference as far as thickness and texture. I'd love to see more specialty pizzas on the menu. The olace was nothing much to look at. Standard seating with booths for 2 or booths for 4. There wasnt a TV or anything, so you just look at the people sitting around you or the staff making the pizza. I haplened to look at the wall and the max seating capacity was 30 for this place. So, small joint in the middle of an abandoned shopping strip. (This was one of the obly places open besides a GameStop and sine other shops. Must be a good sign that this place lasted lobger then a Stapkes or a T.J. Maxx. I went into the store around 4:00 PM on a Wednesday. It was pretty busy. To me, that means That's a good thing. A differnet mixture of people were coming and going, getting either 1 or 2 slices of pizza. One lady order 1 slice of cheese. (How can you only eat 1 slice of pizza? Blasphemy!!!) The people working in the "cucina" actually looked Italian. That made me more excited to taste this NY style pizza. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to cook the 14" pizza. Not that bad. Totally expected. Now, on to the pizza in this story. I took a bite and OMG, it was so tasty. Yhe chicken was cooked well, the cheese was nice and mealted, the bacon was crispy and delicious, and the spices were, should I say in Italian, "perfezionare"!! Meh. Haven't had pizza here in a while, and wasn't unimpressed. Nor was anyone in the family. Here's why... The pizza was too thick and the dough was "mealy" as if it had been frozen. I still love the cheese and sauce, but when i get full after 3 slices and a few wings, you know the pizza is too thick. Service was friendly, was done on time etc.. Wings were pretty good, nice sized, decently crisp. FYI: I drove from Cicero because the Cicero Paladino's location has been going downhill imo.. Used to be my favorite and hoped Mattydale would do the trick. I guess now we'll be searching for a new fave. :-( read more
