Honestly I read through dozens of reviews on dozens of different moving companies. I did a Yelp request and was overwhelmed by the responses. Finally I decided "call the closest to you". Best. Decision. Ever. Cesar and Richard showed up on time and I am not sure who the people who said the movers were slow hired because it wasn't this company. I spent all night staging the house with my priority move items just in case the reviews were true and I had to finish the rest on my own, wasn't necessary. They moved all my big scary items in like 15 minutes. I was amazed. If I have to move again, I am going with Velazquez because they were so nice, and so helpful. Their rates are super competitive as well (and trust me I looked at a lot of companies.) Save yourself the stress and hire them! The workers were great but the owner is deceptive. Our contract was for 4 workers at $160/hour plus a $99 travel fee. They worked 5.5 hours to load up our 2 bedroom apartment and storage room. I anticipated to be charged $980-1000. He charged us $1456 because he sent a 5th worker and charged us for the hour that his workers took for lunch. I told him the job was for only 4 movers, not 5 and nowhere in the contract does it say we have to pay an additional hour for his workers lunch break. I felt terrible arguing with the owner over the phone in front of the workers that did an excellent job. So just be careful not to get ripped off ... work quality is very high but the owner is a thief! read more

I don't know where to start. They were pretty slow. It took long time to wrap furnitures. And break down and put together. Worst part is I asked to switch boxsprings for master bed and my son's. 'Cause they are mixed up. But they didn't do it. So wrong boxsprings is on my bed right now. Their furniture assembly was so bad. My headboard is so wobbly and the side rails are not properly fixed. Oh they put our dining table's leg part was wrong way too. Also broke my nightstand. Annoying. read more

They had the owner and 1 other guy moving us, owner kept stopping to pick up phone calls. They did not finish the job, I had to hire someone off craigslist to finish. While wrapping furniture, they took really long and also stopped to get drinks during the time they were supposed to be working. I hired them to move only the beds, couch and table. Still took them over 4 hours to do this. I even disassembled for them and even jumped in the truck to help out because of how slow these two were. It was the owner and smallest guy he could find. Upon arrival no assembly was done because it took them so long to unload and take everything inside. For what we played we were better off hiring someone off Melrose and asking them to load and unload. read more

My movers canceled on me at the last minute even after I had confirmed the eat before (it's the one who runs daily Craigslist ads) and never even called or took my calls. I called Velazquez Movers after reading their positive Yelp reviews. I am SO glad I did. They were tremendous. I can't give them enough stars! They kept me updated as to their arrival time, worked hard when they got to my house, and were very protective and careful with my things. Funny my other review seems to be missing. Don't fire these guys. They are time suckers when paid by the hour. Took them over 9 hours for a 2 bedroom apartment with NO appliances or dining room take and chairs. I go to use my sewing machine last week and it was broke. took it to a repair man and he said it looks like it was tossed around and dropped. $125 to repair a band new machine. These guys were the worst and got even worst when I asked why it's taking so long. Don't hire these guys to clean you toilet. read more

Hector and his crew did a great job moving our piano. We are putting new flooring in the piano room and there was a 5" step to move the piano out of that room. These guys were awesome. They came ready to work and didn't stop all day. Of course I didn't think it would take that long to move a 4 bedroom house, plus piano, but it did... and they did it quickly and made it worth every penny. They were completely professional in every regard, from the initial contact & setting up the appointment, to making sure each box was placed in the right room in the new house. They disassembled our beds, etc, wrapped all the furniture, and efficiently reassembled everything in the new location. Their truck packing skills were incredible, too! After researching other companies, Velazquez Movers was on the lower end of the price range but I didn't feel any sacrifice of quality. DO NOT USE THIS MOVER! I had the same experience as several other reviewers here - movers took twice as long as previous movers. I observed them just hanging out in the truck on multiple occasions and then tried to look busy when I walked by. Even though they spent a ridiculous amount of time wrapping items, they clearly didn't know what they were doing because I still had multiple items damaged. I hired them because of their low minimum hour requirement. I was only moving a studio apartment and was expecting it to take about 2 hours. Nope, 6!!!! yes, it took them 6 hours to move a studio apartment. Such a huge waste of money, in addition to it taking up most of the day. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. read more

Short version: Keep looking, this is not the business you're looking for. Unprofessional. If you're short on time and think you'll finally do yourself the favor and hire professional packers, buy yourself a bunch of used boxes and ask your neighbors for dead cockroaches and then throw random stuff in them yourself and save the money. I contacted Frankie and he was unwilling to do anything to make it right. Examples: They went around and took all of the blue things from my house (that don't belong together). Another box had a large container of Dreft detergent, a special ear of corn that you microwave to make popcorn, some hangers, a glass item (unwrapped), and my son's sensory swing (not with the bag of pieces I left with it). I had a brand new Ninja Foodi Grill. I pointed to the grill and asked them to put that and the twenty accessories I'd bought as an upgraded package back into the box it came in. Don't you know that every piece of the grill went in a different box (not even all kitchen boxes) and they used the box for something else. Tube of lotion wrapped in paper five times and put in a box while actual glass items were all put in a box together with no padding. Nice candle holders (they look like crystal but aren't) were all individually wrapped well and put in boxes but 7 of the 10 were broken inside of the wrapper which means they were wrapped, then broken, then put in the box as they're wrapped well and there was no way for them to have broken in the box after being so well wrapped. More details: The moment I opened the door the guys were joking and elbowing each other and extremely unprofessional. I had picked this company because there were so many high ratings, I figured the extra money I was spending was worth it for good packers. I had hired them specifically to pack and set them to work. I'd saved boxes for a year so I wouldn't have to buy any and at the end, most of the boxes had not been used but they did use all the ones they brought that you have to pay for. The boxes they brought had been used and had dead roaches falling out of them (because I moved some after the others had been packed already). I then had to have all of the boxes torn down by other people and pay for the boxes they brought. I've arrived at my new home and most of the boxes have loose items in them though I also saved paper, bubble wrap, and air cushions. One of the guys left for an hour without telling the boss and they put in for me to be charged the rate for four for all of the hours. The boss corrected this after but it took longer because they were not all there working. One guy had hurt his back really bad and was planning to go to urgent care so he left a few times to go sit in the car. It should be mandatory that they wear proper shoes so that they are able to do their job. I had requested that they label the boxes so I'd know what was in them. Most boxes are not labeled. Some of them have random labels like "Room 1" but that doesn't correlate with anything that would make sense. When I went back the next day to make sure everything was in the PODS, I found there were multiple drawers and cabinets that had not been done. They'd ask me if they were done and I was trying to check but couldn't help them and monitor everything they were doing and take care of other things. I expected them to be professional enough to actually pack everything but they were not. Literally the packing they did looks like I forced four of the 14 year old neighborhood boys to come over and work for me against their will and they were only doing the bare minimum so they could go home. I'd never hire this company again and you shouldn't either. read more

I sold my two bedroom condo and needed to move. Gave the a call and got a price scheduled the move for the following week. 8 am on the day of the move they were a no show and did not answer the phone. Got a call back around 10 that they were in route. They arrived late one adult one kid. The kid was worthless. What should have been a three or four hour move took over 6 hours During g the move they broke a desk and a chair. When the move was completed they wanted to be paid. I asked for a receipt with the broken items listed. They called their payment center. I was told they do g have that type of paperwork and I'd need to speak to a supervisor. They said I needed to pay them now I should have said no payment until I speak to a supervisor So they showed up late. Showed up with one experience mover and one kid. They broke two items and they got paid. Never did here back from a supervisor. Glad I paid by credit card. Will dispute this. Terrible customer service read more

I hired this company in December for a January Move, my move was scheduled 1/2 @10am- I tried to call the day before and confirm since no one called me, and I guess they were closed or no answer.  On 1/2 and 10am  no one was at my house, so about 10:05 I called and Hector answered and asked if I still wanted to move, because they would be about 20 minutes late.  They showed up 45 minutes late. YES I STILL WANT TO MOVE, what kind of question is that? They sent 2 guys not in uniforms or a marked truck, one  guy did 90% of the work the other stayed in the truck, they were wrapping my furniture and broke a desk and I asked if I'll get a discount on the move and he said no. because it will come out of his paycheck , I didn't say anything, they took boxes down the stairs marked fragile on a dolly, so i could hear the clanks of pottery.  We got to my storage and they said it's not gonna fit, so I called and got a storage unit twice the size of what I should have needed and  the stuff hardly fit. So these " professional" movers broke a desk ( I haven't unpacked the rest of the stuff yet so I'm sure ill have more ), took over 5 hours on a 1 bedroom condo basically, (its 2 bedrooms but the desk from the 2nd bedroom broke ). I called that night and Hector said call Frankie Monday, I called Frankie Monday and Hector said he's out of town  till the 13th .... Well that's today and I called and no answer read more

Frankie and team were awesome. I absolutely hate moving but these guys made it easy and always with a smile even at the end of the day when they were exhausted. I was exhausted even if I didn't move our stuff but they had great personalities. They wrapped everything well and took good care of our stuff. Nothing broke.
