My wife and I are dark beer drinkers . They did not have any on the menu so we did not have a drink. There is plenty of seating and it's a great place to stay out of the sun on a hot day.

At first, walking down the alley in downtown Bend, I honestly was not sure what we were about to find. Then we started seeing little fire pit pods, heated huts, glowing candles, and people tucked away having cocktails. It instantly felt cool without trying too hard. Walking into San Simón felt like stepping into some funky speakeasy hidden in plain sight. Dark lighting, moody atmosphere, David Bowie playing in the background, wild artwork on the walls that makes you stop and stare for a second. Just a great vibe all around. The kind of place where you sit down and immediately relax into the evening. The cocktails were excellent. Not overdone, not syrupy, just really balanced and well made. One of our favorites was the "Some Positive Feedback," which came with this sugar rim that looked awesome and added just enough sweetness without overpowering the drink. Bright citrus flavor, refreshing, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Then we asked the bartender if they could just make us something off the cuff. We said vodka, lemon and lime forward, not too sweet, maybe a little spice. They absolutely nailed it. Crisp, refreshing, layered citrus flavor with just enough heat on the back end to keep it interesting. Honestly one of those cocktails where everybody at the table takes a sip and immediately goes, "Oh wow." As a bourbon guy, I was also pleasantly surprised with the whiskey selection. The bartender recommended Stafford's Reserve, an Oregon bourbon, and I am glad I listened. Smooth, approachable, a little sweet up front with some spice on the finish. Easy sipping bourbon that fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. What really made the night though was the staff. Everybody was friendly in that genuine way where you feel welcomed instead of "served." By the end of the night it honestly felt like we had been there before, even though it was our first visit. The outdoor setup deserves some love too. Bend cooled down at night, but the fire pits and heaters kept everything comfortable. We could have easily stayed another couple hours just hanging out. Pricing felt fair for the quality of drinks and atmosphere. This is not a dive bar pretending to be fancy. It is a genuinely cool cocktail spot that knows exactly what it is. If you are in Bend and enjoy craft cocktails, bourbon, cool music, quirky atmosphere, and places with personality, go find San Simón. Half the fun is finding it tucked down the alley in the first place.

I am a near pescatarian and I have struggled to find the right things to be able to order here. I don't like their steaks or other meat items, they are of medium quality (my husbands steaks feel like they should be $20 from WF) and don't have the same high quality as their sister location up the hill. It doesn't feel right to me to pay so much for a simple shrimp skewer. I've ordered that before, but it's just not worth the cost. I just feel like the menu needs a little more depth. More veggies and more exciting things for those of us who don't love meat.

So I started out with just a classic Mai Tai after looking over the menu and being pretty disappointed that it's just the most basic "tiki" drinks in existence. The Mai Tai was flat out awful, and I mean AWFUL. It tasted like water mixed with lime juice. No alcohol taste in anyway, and not even a drip of Orgeat taste. It is so bad that it upset me, and it's completely clear like water. I did decide to stay cause I needed a break from the long week of work, but I just went straight to rum straight. I could've overlooked this, if there was even any slight conversation at the bar with the bartenders, but they had no interest in talking to the people that were there, three of the people at the bar were employees, and the entire time was just them talking together about how much they don't like rum or even the drinks on the menu. Wild. Past that they were talking about how they store their juices, and that they don't date label them in any way or throw them out after a certain amount of days, they just come in and taste them to see if they've gone bad. Get the f*** out of here.... A quick Google search will show you that most citrus juices start to oxidize within the hour, and orange and pineapple are not far behind... Don't even come here and give it a try, just go somewhere else.... This place should not be in business.

Love, love, love Velvet. Hip, sexy vibe with a laid-back comfortable feel. This place is perfect for both that younger crowd that is looking to have a fun night out, or that mellower crowd that just wants a casual glass of good wine and live music. Their drink menu is ever-changing and so wonderfully unique. You can find fig cocktails or a mate and lemonade. The food is even better. You can order up a table full of small appetizers that are simply amazing! Nothing like it elsewhere in Bend. And they even have several Vegan and Vegetarian options. Yum, yum, yum! The Bartenders are open for your own drink idea and have quite a few concoctions of their own. The atmosphere has a nice Bend feeling with wood walls and TV's playing anything from Skiing to Mountain Biking and everything in between. Super fun place to hang. Love the two-story bar, don't see that too often. There's always cool art on the walls from local artists and they have musicians play a few times a week. The Blue Velvet drink is my favorite, it has maté and blueberry vodka, super tasty. I like that you can get PBR 40's too. Honestly, this is the coolest bar in central oregon. Incredible vibe. Great drinks, without busting the bank account. Even great apps for soaking up the drinks. They also have live music without the cover charge, so you can't beat that. I've hit it after the mountain, after work and after midnight. And every time, there's a good time waiting in there. Yum! The Mate' Mojito is so tasty! Great bites - Tofu Sliders and Duck Samosas are A+. If I go out on the town, Velvet Lounge is definitely on the list of stops! Kane and his staff are amazing, they are all extremely genuine and welcoming whenever we visit Northside, and the bar is exactly what one should want in a neighborhood bar. Drinks aren't fancy but they're reasonably priced, the pour is good and the atmosphere is perfect. If you want a $17 craft cocktail then Northside isn't the place for you, but if you're a tourist in town that wants a good vibe that won't break your bank, or a local who wants to truly feel welcomed and invited in then I would highly recommend stopping in to Northside.

Prices were reasonable and they had an excellent tap list so we stayed a while. The bar itself is really cool, pool tables along one side with plenty of room to play, plus tables. Décor leans beer; they also had upstairs seating and darts. The server/bartender was friendly and fast with drinks. We didn't know at the time, and still don't know from personal experience, the complaints about the space. There were some concerning signs around that come off as more than jokes; unsure what to think but it's best to make up your mind whether to patronize. Overall, we had a fun time here.
