Online looking you would think the establishment is something different. The section we had was so dark in the light above us wouldn't come on. The guest that came into the building were dressed like they were going to a hole in a the wall place the spicy Hennessy Wings were so hot I couldn't even get them down so I threw the entire plate away. The Dj had the music so loud I couldn't even understand what the artist was saying on their tracks and the Dj himself sound like a broke garbage truck squealing on the microphone. Almost a year later, and I finally made it for their happy hour. They have happy hour almost daily, with every night being a different special. I went on a Wednesday night, it was pretty dead, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. They had three for one drink special, a lot of their food were on happy hour as well. And the DJ was pretty good. I am so mad that I don't remember our waitresses name because she was definitely good. They also had a free sip and paint last night however we didn't stay long for that. The food was really good, and the drinks were OK, it gave us the buzz that we needed lol .. This place has a great happy hour! I did order happy hour drinks but also some of their signature drinks just to try them. The wings are amazing! They have great fries and the shrimp was also a great choice. The crab balls seemed to be cooked in old grease so they weren't great. The happy hour was slow and quiet but as the evening went on the place was slammed packed! The music was great all evening. I absolutely understand the other reviews on service and fees . I went on a Friday night which advised 5-8 happy hour . For everyone . 6-8 ladies drink free ONLY if wearing heels . Which was super odd . But anywho I came for the happy hour . Drinks are advised 2 for 1. Food priced regularly . When the bill comes everything has a service charge aside from the tip . I will include my receipt so it shows what I'm referring too. When the bill came as usual I took a look . The drinks are priced as displaced on the website then there additional fees when asked why the waitress advised you pay extra for cocktails instead of on the rocks drinks . Despite ordering drinks named and priced something different . In example ordering a margarita but paying for tequila . Not a specific tequila but tequila in general. This was insane doesn't make sense no matter who explains it . Drink _: margaritas 2 for 1 Henny on the beach 2 orders of 2 for 1 But do look how it's broken down Food is good , music is good, staff is hit or miss . Hookah service was below average offered hookah for 2 hrs for 50 dollars and flavor went out after 20 minutes . I mentioned this and was advised can have it changed for an additional $25 dollars I could of bought 3 packs for that . Also 9 dollar service charge. I'm all for a business and understanding the cost of items but this place is ridiculous. Service charges were super high more than usual on top still having to also add a reasonable gratuity. read more

Let me start off by saying it's my birthday weekend and I'm enjoying all the plans. The velvet lounge is the place to come for a great brunch vibe. Live DJ, amazing mimosas (orange pineapple). I was super hyped to orders the lobster and lamb chops since it's suppose to be a big hit.. unfortunately that didn't meet the expectation. I'm a seafood lover and I know good seafood. The lobster look good and appealing, but the smell and taste was horrific! It was spoiled tasting and it wasn't just mines, other people in my party also ordered the lobster had the same complaint. After we complained about it we were only five 50% off one lobster and one was taken off the menu.. still has to put for the remaining 3. Overall, I'll just come to enjoy the music but would not be ordering food. read more

I really wish I could give this place a higher rating because I love to advertise black establishments.. However, my first experience here wasn't the greatest! It was a second option because the first restaurant we went for brunch had a 2-hour wait. We saw on their Instagram page they were offering free mimosas with the purchase of an entree during brunch, so we thought it would be a great alternative! Mimosas were great and the food was tasty.. This place is definitely a party. I came in with a few of my friends to get a couple drinks. The lounge was clean and had various seating options like high tops, and couches. They also had a bar towards the back. The women serving us drinks to our table was a sweetheart. She was attentive and made sure to consistently check on us. The prices of drinks were average i think they are at a good price point. "The artic" drink was probably what made our night. For $45 you get a 84 oz fish bowl perfect for sharing! If your coming to party and dance this is the place for you. This lounge also has FOOD! We saw food being served at alot of the tables. We ate before but i all the food around us look and smelled good. Its loud so dont expect to have any conversations lol. read more

I wish I could give this place 5 stars, because it is a black owned, and I wanna see my peoples prosper. The thing is this place 2 years ago was a whole vibe. Drinks, food, music.... Now the mimosas used to be used with champagne and Prosecco. Now they use Vedi which is idk but some super sweet carbonated wine. I feel like they had to cut corners (budgeting). This was my first time coming to velvet lounge, and I must say I would definitely be a regular here. When we walked up, the hosts and security were very nice. The music was amazing! I could not stop dancing the entire time. Our waitress came soon after and took our orders; she was very nice and friendly, she also gave great suggestions of what we should try. We came at the perfect time they had unlimited mimosas for free during our time there. I ordered the velvet omelette, which was great. It was filled with cheese and a lot of vegetables, and surprisingly it went well with the garlic toast. I also order a side of fried shrimp. The shrimp was my favorite; jumbo shrimp that was fried to perfection. My friends ordered the lamb surf turf, and chicken and waffles, and They also enjoyed their meals (they couldn't stop eating and dancing lol). Texted the number and got reservations for 3 people for Sunday brunch. Was told for 3 people I could only get a table and the minimum spending amount is $200 which was fine. Also was told reservations are held for only 30 min. My cousin decided to join us the day of which I thought would be no problem because if there's already a table reserved for 3, why would it be a problem for 4? Got there at 2:31, literally just made it since there was a bad accident on I95 and we were coming from Miami. Hostess told me I just made it and that they only saved 3 seats so having a 4th person would be a problem. She let me know they would have to find another table , seating is limited & that we would need to purchase a tower or a bottle. Again this was fine because we were planning to get a tower anyways. We waited around for about 20 min or more while they tried to find another table. Each time getting approached by different people so no one was in unison. Finally get another table, it's approaching 3 pm. We are brought upstairs. They try to sit us by the stairs for 3 people! And why would I want to sit by the stairs Pointed out it was 4 people hence the wait. We waited while they moved the table towards the back. They threw us in the back with a wobbly table meanwhile there was another table there. We pointed out the table was wobbly. We are told they are all like that! But everyone else had tables with marble tops, we were the only ones with a white table. Although unsatisfied we waited while they went to get another table. It was the same wobbly table matter of fact the whole table top swiveled. The busser is saying he doesn't know speak to the hostess. The server is no help. She's telling me the table I see is reserved as if I don't have reservations. Speak to one of the hostesses she disappears. Speak to another hostess she tells us since we changed the number of people they are "accommodating" us as though bringing ONE additional person should be so damn complicated. While all of this is going on we asked if we could get mimosas since they were promoting free mimosas until 3 pm. It's like they didn't even want to give it to us. We had to point out it wasn't even 3 pm yet and they should honor it especially since we've been here. Our server finally brought out the pitcher. We drank a little but decided to leave due to the horrible customer service. I really didn't think it would be all of this for bringing one more person. I also didn't understand why they kept treating us as if we had no reservation but even if we were a walk in that treatment wasn't right. I also can't understand what was the big deal about letting us be seated at the table we requested especially since it wasn't where we sat down that we were complaining about but the wobbly table in itself. And I definitely don't understand why they would expect us to spend a lot of money at their venue with buying a tower, food. Etc to be seated at a crappy wobbly table. I came ready to spend money and have a good time but not with the way everything went. The customer service sucked. Went for brunch at 1pm. We were told around 3 it gets busy. We didn't reserve a booth but tables were available so we were able to be seated quickly. The music was fun and we had a great time. The food was amazing. The wings were saucy and flavorful. And the eggs...baby just know they have Haitians in the kitchen. I had the salmon burger and licked every piece off my fingers. This lounge Cafe has a nice atmosphere, gorgeous waitresses and bartenders and great music. Great on a weekday and packed on the weekends. This place has great food and drinks and is well managed. I've visited several times at this point and enjoyed sip and paint night, comedy night and brunch. Be patient with the food because it's worth it when it gets to you. 2 and 3 for 1 drink specials on taco Tuesday is a great way to kick the week off. I like this place read more

Sooooo....I'm happy that we tried Velvet Lounge Cafe! We went for Saturday brunch mostly for the bottomless mimosas. Someone was in there celebrating her 50th birthday and her and her family/friends were having so much fun that it trickled down to us. I had just as much fun with them and the Dj did his thing. My husband and I felt like we were at a party during the evening, but it was only 2 in the afternoon. Now, let's get to the good stuff...the food. I ordered the shrimp and waffles. The shrimp were surprisingly big and fried well. I could tell the grease was fresh by how beautifully colored the shrimp were. The waffles were smaller than I expected, but still good to say the least. My husband ordered a Salmon platter which I forgot to snap a picture of he enjoyed it, though. I snuck a few forkfuls of his mashed potatoes and they were good. The mimosas were initially nauseating.....hear me out....I say that because it was waaaayyy too sweet. We told the waitress the issue and she corrected it without hesitation. With the added champagne it was much better. I wouldn't order a mimosa from here again only because I prefer real juice with mine. But hey, if you like any type go for it. We also enjoyed dancing after we ate. That was the real treat for me. Free tacos were limited to three per customer, something not stated in any ads. The 2 for 1 top shelf drinks were actually 1 drink split into two small cups that were barely even full. On top of all that, we were charged a 20% service charge that the waitress stated was not her tip. The waitress was horrible .she never came to check on us .we had to literally get up to get another waitress to help us with getting our food . What I ordered didn't even come. We have to get up to get napkins and a plate. And before we can even order any more food she already gave us our bill. Which, I might say was a little pricey and not worth it.
