Finally, after many months of planning, We visited the Velvet Taco on Burnet. We were absolutely delighted to meet a familiar, cheerful, friendly face! Claudia! The new location on Burnet is awesome and it has a very vibrant atmosphere. There were Lots of families enjoying tacos, indoors and al fresco! We used to see Claudia all the time at the Domain location. We were delighted to see her again. She instantly greeted us and punched in our order. We were happy to know that she's the manager at this new location. We could tell from her being very busy, working hard, being hands-on with preparing all the orders as they came in and extending warm hospitality to all the guests! We also met with other cheerful staff at this location! As our order came in we totally felt the consistency of the Velvet Tacos taste which is so gratifying, remains with you!! The chicken tikka tocos were excellent. Nashville tofu was as always crispy and spicy! We love the sprinkle of spicy dust on the tofu!! The beer battered cauliflower taco was delicious! The queso and chips were appetizing! This visit at the Burnet location became even more special only because of Claudia! She went above and beyond with her hospitality and it's amazing to see her in a leadership role! This is our 2nd time here, just soooo GOOD & FRESH! The "Say What Combo" is the way to order imo, 2 tacos, 2 sides & fountain drink $14.95 OR you can upgrade to a margarita if you'd like. The tacos I have tried are the Quesa Burris Duo, Slow Roasted Angus Brisket and the Beer battered Cauliflower. All were FABULOUS, really I don't know where they get their tortillas, beck maybe they make them onsite but tbe are OUTTA site with the combo their guac was DEEEELISSH TOO! Your tacos are served in this wavy taco thing so the fillings don't fall out and makes it so ez to grab & eat. I've somehow never been to a Velvet Taco, so we stopped by the new location on Burnet for a quick dinner while out running errands. The taco meal deal is a steal with your choice of two tacos and a side. The chimichurri steak was a winner while the chicken & waffle was interesting, but the sweet waffle shell threw me off. The queso was good, verging on too thick. We also ordered a tikka bowl, which was massive and loaded with ingredients. When they say spicy, they mean it: It was tasty, but a little too hot for me. My +1 scarfed it down though. Overall, I'm glad to have another fast casual option in the mix. read more

First off, this place is close to my workplace and I enjoyed their tacos at the Domain location. I was very hungry and excited to try this new spot- I ordered the featured korean taco which was tasty, but the veggie bowl fell super flat. I did not enjoy the balance of flavors despite everything sounding good on paper- the pickled onions were really sour, the chopped carrots didn't feel like they belonged there, and and sadly the best part of the bowl was the rice. I ended up tossing it after eating half, which weighs a lot coming from someone who hates wasting food. The counter service lady was nice. read more

Came here with a large group on a Saturday and surprisingly was not that busy, so we had most of the place inside to ourselves. Service was fast and friendly but parking is very tight (the lines are drawn really close). But you can grab some parking in the back street if needed. They got all sorts of interesting flavor mashup tacos and the combo is only a little more than 2 tacos, so it's a pretty decent deal. I got the quesa birria pork tacos and the weekly special, a chicken cordon bleu. While I've had other tacos at other locations before, these two were hoenstly not that special. The consome was ok and the pork wasn't that flavorful nor were the corn tortillas super crisp. The chicken cordon bleu was missing the ham cause they were out of it, so felt incomplete. But the coconut curry was very good - mild curry hit cuts through the rich cheese dip well. Pickled onions also a nice touch. Kids meal here a good bargain too - chicken tenders and tots for under $5 is a great portion for the little ones. read more

So happy that Velvet Taco has opened a restaurant on Burnet Road! We went last night and a frozen and a rocks margarita, both were good. We shared the red curry coconut queso and three tacos. All were very tasty, the spicy chicken tikka, the angus brisket and the rotisserie chicken. All were pretty tasty. I'm looking forward to returning for the fish n' chips taco and the chicken and waffle taco! P.S. the outside table had a hook for a purse! read more

We love love love Velvet Taco but this new location is lacking in some areas. We came at 750pm on a Thursday so it was very slow. We ordered three tacos and it took 25 minutes and we were the only one in line.. the kitchen is open so customers can see everything. There were five employees standing back there and FOUR of them were on their phones with one person cooking. One of the employees was distracting the cook by showing him things on the phone. It was shocking. Parking is semi limited but it was fine when we showed up. The entrance is also around the gated off area and it's a bit strange. I am still baffled by the whole experience. read more

Hate to report but I was coming once a week when it opened bc the tacos were that great and filly! I took a couple months off and came to find the meat on the tacos is about 30% less than before. No longer paying $7 for a half chicken tender on a taco. read more

Why is there a manager policing the parking lot? I pulled in at 10:58 AM. Out of the 10 spots available there were two cars. I pulled in at an angle aimed at the drive-through and turned my hazard lights on. Yes I was taking up two parking spaces by doing this. I assumed I'd be able to open the app and place an order quick enough to not be in anyone's way. Besides that, I have enough common sense and human decency to move on my own if I notice I'm in someone's way. Within two minutes a manager asked me to park correctly because "they are now open and will be experiencing traffic. " as much as I just wanted to go somewhere else at this point, I did pull out of the parking lot, around the block and park correctly. When has it ever been necessary for an empty parking lot to require regulating for proper flow buy a store manager? My first experience was already off to a terrible start. However, I did download the app and register for the reward program. I got free nachos and queso when I added a credit card. I ordered one taco so I would have something legitimate to review other than the parking lot experience. I waited about five minutes before pulling around to the speaker box. I sat there for another minute and a half before I realized there's no speaker box. I pulled up to the window and told them I placed the order online and gave them my name and showed them a picture of my receipt. The employee had to get a manager involved. I guess the earliest possible pick up wasn't for another 25 minutes. They were able to force the system to show them the order so they could fulfill it. This require way more weight time than necessary. The queso was luke warm, the chips were not fresh. Their tacos are ridiculously overpriced. $6.50 is the medium price for their menu. One taco a few blocks away at Little Woodrow's ( which has been on TV shows like diners, drive-ins, and dives.) has half off several tacos every single Tuesday. Today is national taco day and low taco didn't have a single discount. Make that make sense. I will end the review on a positive note. The chicken tikka taco was edible. It was not spicy at all. I didn't enjoy it, but I didn't suck either. After having such a great experience at the velvet taco in Dallas, and then another great experience at a velvet taco in Fort Worth, I was really looking forward to having one in my neighborhood. What a huge letdown. I'll give this place another few months to work out their kinks. Hopefully they can manage to keep their manager indoors and their order system running a little more quickly. As a former Director of Training for a Big Taco Brand, I would say you are very fortunate having Claudia on your team. When we walked in she was training an employee and kindly greeted us at the other register. Her treatment was golden and her knowledge of product promotion was explained with perfection. If I was still in the biz I'd steal her from yall! Please know a good employee when you have one! BTW love your product and have since green lawn in Dallas where Torchys came in as your competitor and I'd like to say yall are still winning when it comes to the level of consistency and customer service!
