I ended up getting a large, which COMES with a waffle cone (instead of having to pay an extra charge like the other sizes). Overall I'd really recommend! I love a hot chocolate that tastes strong, less milky and more chocolatey, and this one is the perfect balance, and with a taste of hazelnut which was a great complement. It wasn't too busy when I popped by around 3pm, and the staff members I talked to were all very kind and helpful. The inside was bright, clean, and had a pleasant atmosphere. This was my first time at Venchi at the Columbus Circle location. I finished up a movie at the AMC and wanted a treat for dessert. There was a long line outside of Venchi so I decided to tag along. The staff comes up to you and takes your order so they can pay in advance. I decided to go for a two scoop gelato in a cup. There are several delicious flavors so make your choice quickly. I chose the tiramisu and hazelnut flavors. The scoops are a decent size. You can order it in a waffle cone with a hazelnut spread for an upcharge. The gelato was good. The tiramisu lacked flavor. I was expecting a strong espresso kick but sadly I didn't get much. The hazelnut was more flavorful than the tiramisu. Overall it was okay. The total came out to around $9 for everything. Very expensive for gelato in the city. However, it is a great treat for a warm summer day. read more

We had a very disappointing experience. My family and I were denied a single sample, which we were told was against policy, even though we saw other customers get samples before ordering. We felt we were treated unfairly and immediately left. If a "no samples" policy truly exists, the staff needs to be trained consistently to enforce it with all customers. It's a shame, as my parents had great experiences here in the past, but the inconsistent customer service was a complete turn-off. The flavors were extensive from a few leaning savory (parmigiano or olive oil) and all the favs. They also sell chocolate in bars, packs, and individuals. My only issue with this place is because of its location, the lines/wait times can get quite cumbersome on the nice days! However, the staff handles it incredibly well and keeps it moving the best they can all while keeping a smile on their face and offering exceptional customer service even with a line full of kids demanding immediate gelato in their hands. The gelato here has been consistently great both in flavor and texture and that's important to point out because I've been to other gelato places in the city and they do not compare in regards to staying consistent visit-after-visit. They are known mainly for their hazelnut varieties, but what do you expect from a true Italian gelateria :) My favorite is the cremino and mango in a gourmet cone! It hits the spot every time. I love that they put a complimentary piece of dark or milk chocolate in your ice cream every time too! Speaking of chocolates, those are definitely worth picking up while you're waiting in line. I usually come here because it's a convenient location for me, but I don't love it. The place is small, when you're in line you have to be mindful of other people passing by, cutting line and more. Moreover, about a year ago a homeless man stole the tip jar and kind of threw coins everywhere while I was putting a dollar in it. Anyways. It's perfectly located in the heavy pedestrian traffic of Central Park South and always has long lines. The gelateria is not large, but it is packed with amazing gelato, outdoor seating, assortment of chocolates, and other sweets. I really enjoyed how they sent a staff member outside, with a tray of some of their products, for people on line to try. The actual gelato is creamy, they give hearty portions, and I saw every customer smiling with satisfaction. You will definitely enjoy Venchi and enjoy your inevitable smiles. read more
