My husband went in for a hot chocolate on a cold night last week and it was almost $17. I was like, "Dude, we're going to go buy some Swiss Miss and make it at home!". Now of course Swiss Miss can't hold a candle to the rich chocolately deliciousness that is embodied in the Venchi hot chocolate, but be prepared for sticker shock if you try it. New York was having a heat wave so of course everybody wanted ice cream. They will let you sample some flavours before you choose what you have. I try to pistachio one which was delicious. A few days later I had another one which was the panna cotta. Service was sweet and friendly. We opted for caramel vanilla and a version of birthday cake. The cream was so rich and smooth. Waffle very crunchy at every bite. Chocolate selections were displayed wall to wall and priced per pound if you wanted to try different selections. Pre-boxed was an option. Pre-packaged another option ranging from $16 dollars to $60. The service is very good with staff offering samples of chocolate or olive oil fudge. The draw to buy and spend more than you thought you would. Great place to get gifts. Definitely not cheap. I stopped in Venchi to grab a hot chocolate because I knew I'd be outside waiting for a while! I opted for the hazelnut hot chocolate ($8.50) which came with hazelnuts and whipped cream. Overall I'd really recommend! I love a hot chocolate that tastes strong, less milky and more chocolatey, and this one is the perfect balance, and with a taste of hazelnut which was a great complement. It wasn't too busy when I popped by around 3pm, and the staff members I talked to were all very kind and helpful. The inside was bright, clean, and had a pleasant atmosphere. This was my first time at Venchi at the Columbus Circle location. I finished up a movie at the AMC and wanted a treat for dessert. There was a long line outside of Venchi so I decided to tag along. The staff comes up to you and takes your order so they can pay in advance. I decided to go for a two scoop gelato in a cup. There are several delicious flavors so make your choice quickly. I chose the tiramisu and hazelnut flavors. The scoops are a decent size. You can order it in a waffle cone with a hazelnut spread for an upcharge. The gelato was good. The tiramisu lacked flavor. I was expecting a strong espresso kick but sadly I didn't get much. The hazelnut was more flavorful than the tiramisu. Overall it was okay. The total came out to around $9 for everything. Very expensive for gelato in the city. However, it is a great treat for a warm summer day. read more

We had a very disappointing experience. My family and I were denied a single sample, which we were told was against policy, even though we saw other customers get samples before ordering. We felt we were treated unfairly and immediately left. If a "no samples" policy truly exists, the staff needs to be trained consistently to enforce it with all customers. It's a shame, as my parents had great experiences here in the past, but the inconsistent customer service was a complete turn-off. Going in I knew it was going to be expensive $7.40 for a small cup. The flavors were extensive from a few leaning savory (parmigiano or olive oil) and all the favs. They also sell chocolate in bars, packs, and individuals. The Iine can get long which maybe was why the cashier was so annoyed at me for taking time to figure out what I wanted. You can get cups or cones and you can have it lined with chocolate. I usually come here because it's a convenient location for me, but I don't love it. The place is small, when you're in line you have to be mindful of other people passing by, cutting line and more. Moreover, about a year ago a homeless man stole the tip jar and kind of threw coins everywhere while I was putting a dollar in it. Anyways. My only issue with this place is because of its location, the lines/wait times can get quite cumbersome on the nice days! However, the staff handles it incredibly well and keeps it moving the best they can all while keeping a smile on their face and offering exceptional customer service even with a line full of kids demanding immediate gelato in their hands. The gelato here has been consistently great both in flavor and texture and that's important to point out because I've been to other gelato places in the city and they do not compare in regards to staying consistent visit-after-visit. They are known mainly for their hazelnut varieties, but what do you expect from a true Italian gelateria :) My favorite is the cremino and mango in a gourmet cone! It hits the spot every time. I love that they put a complimentary piece of dark or milk chocolate in your ice cream every time too! Speaking of chocolates, those are definitely worth picking up while you're waiting in line. Darn good Gelato. Tastes like creamy goodness that was spun with care, love, and lots of flavor. There isn't really much about the place to talk about, the service was great, the staff there were super friendly, they answered our questions with a smile, and while our kiddo was trying to make up their mind, we saw the wall of chocolate... which honestly is overwhelming and enticing all at the same time. We walked out with two large cones of goodness and it was the prefect after item from walking Central Park. You pay for a certain number of scoops and cones. Then you give the receipt to the next worker who scoops the exact flavors you want. You can get a free chocolate either dark or milk added on top. It's perfectly located in the heavy pedestrian traffic of Central Park South and always has long lines. The gelateria is not large, but it is packed with amazing gelato, outdoor seating, assortment of chocolates, and other sweets. I really enjoyed how they sent a staff member outside, with a tray of some of their products, for people on line to try. The actual gelato is creamy, they give hearty portions, and I saw every customer smiling with satisfaction. You will definitely enjoy Venchi and enjoy your inevitable smiles. read more

I was happy to have visited the midtown Vinci location. I had taken my husband and my mother-in-law here, they were overwhelmed by the amount of chocolate options to try. We did get a couple of samples, but ultimately decided on a couple small pieces instead of buying a really big box. They had excellent espresso, which we all enjoyed. Super tasty gelato! I ordered a baby sized cone with tiramisu gelato. It was amazing and packed with chocolatey, espresso flavor. The gelato came topped with a piece of chocolate & was served in a crispy sugar cone. There was quite a long line when I visited, but the line moved pretty quickly & efficiently. The staff was attentive and friendly. The only issue with the atmosphere was a lack of space for the crowd! We did find a table outside, but it was a table for 2 and we had 3 in my party so I stood at the table. The shop itself was very cute with a fun ice cream cone wall in their windows, walls of nice chocolates & candies for sale, and pretty easy-to-read digital signs. Worth a visit! read more

The hazelnut was extremely aromatic with each spoonful as well. Tuscan Cream- This was absolutely delicious. Smooth, and custardy. I really enjoyed the fragrance of the gelato for this one as well. Wow! The beautiful store front caught my eye the first night in NYC. We finally went on our 3rd day after pizza. Great choice! The gelato is so good. I had the tiramisu because it is my favorite dessert. It did not disappoint. So good in a waffle cone. My son had mango and strawberry and was in heaven. My husband had a dark chocolate scoop which was incredible. My son and I ate ours while looking at all the amazing chocolates. There was even a staff member giving samples.
