Oh Vendetta. Just because the name says it does not mean your bartender has to have it against customers. Wednesday March 6. Walk in a bit before 1am to grab a beer and a game a shuffleboard. "Last call was fifteen minutes ago" say smug chubby bartender wearing glasses. Fair enough. I used to tend bar and know the joy of last call, especially on a Wednesday. No protest from me and my buddy and me commence a quick game of shuffleboard. 1:05am. Bartender #2 says, "hey guys, we're about to head home." Really? Still half a dozen people with full drinks at the bar and you're telling me you're about to leave? Hmmm, my hipster cred is weaker than I thought. We smile and say ok and proceed to finish our game. Obviously not a big deal since still several patrons finishing their drinks. About 130 smugly chubster says "time to go home guys!" Us: 'ok, we're just one point from finishing our game'. Smug chub: "who's ahead?" Me: "I am." Smugchub: "ok you win now get out". Me: " aw c'mon one last point". Smugchub: "I'm takin the pucks!" We gave up and walked out. As I was leaving I gave the obligatory "thanks for the hospitality" to the which the bartender replied: "you're welcome. Fuck off!" Wow. What could have easily been more tips and repeat customers turned into a one star review and boycott of Vendetta. Nice work bartender! Guess the two guys sitting at the bar still drinking when we left were VIPs. Too many other great watering holes in town to spend a cent here. I'll make sure all my friends know the same. Hello all geek trivia goers. I am the "horrible" female bartender....I am writing here to apologize publicly to you all, wasn't sure how else to do this. (I know that if you work somewhere you aren't supposed to write anything, but this isn't a review) First off and for most I am sincerely sorry for any poor service or nasty attitude you received from me on geek trivia nights, please let me explain just a little, my situation. Vendetta is a neighborhood bar that keeps pretty steady/busy during weekdays, with the occasional event on weekends or last thursday, and of course geek trivia every other tuesday. I have worked there for a year and some and trivia is new to the scene. A normal, run of the mill tuesday is mellow and we can run the whole bar all day with 1 bartender and me, THE COOK, on trivia nights, a second bartender is brought in. (the male bartenders) I am not even a bartender there as written in two reviews. Any time I was helping get drinks, or beers for you all it is because I had a split second to do so and the line is always out the door for at least 3 hours on those nights. Something that I would like to share about our bar is that it is a bar, not a restaurant, and we do not have table service at all, ever. So here is probably why I seem so stressed those nights. About 6pm people start flowing in, a tuesday at a neighborhood bar turns into a busy friday night at a restaurant and everyone wants food. What most don't know is that, we don't have runners, bussers, dishwashers, wait staff of any kind. I am one person running food, pulling plates, washing glassware, bar backing, etc. and it is very overwhelming and there is like 50 or more food orders at a time in a kitchen the size of our bathrooms and it gets so packed in there and it is hard to get around the crowds to serve the food and find numbers among the cluttered tables. I now have a second cook come in and make the food (before I was making it and running it, hense the long wait on some orders) The venue goes from a few regulars to like 200 geek trivia goers in like half hour and our bar is not really easy to move in once full. I know that I am loud and can come across as rude when it is busy and I am slammed, but I assure you, if you ask any of my co-workers, friends, or regulars at the bar, I am usually smiling and working my butt off to provide the best service possible. I work very hard at that bar and am sorry that any of you feel disrespected by my behavior. I thought the last one went well and that I was being more friendly (when pirates hosted) , but in reading the last review, some disagreed. So here is my deal, I promise to make a conscious effort to be more polite at geek trivia and if anyone reading this is some one that I have personally offended, come in the next trivia and your first drink is on me. swear it. I love Vendetta and don't want anyone to not come back on account of me having a bad night. I do, however, ask that you all in return be more patient with me, as I am doing about 4 peoples jobs at once during that time and don't always realize I am acting like that. It is just really stressful and I work open to close on tuesdays, so it is a long hard shift when it gets so busy like that. I love North Portland bars. Even if they kinda suck. Still love 'em. Vendetta is one of those bars. Yeah, yeah, enough with the gravel bitching..live with it, you are going to have to walk over crumbly loose rock to get to and from the patio to the bar. It is actually quite entertaining to watch people walk-rather stumble- back and forth. I only have had the nachos... meh. But I do enjoy the cheap crappy beer selection served in cans. The bathrooms provide chalk boards and loud speakers so you won't miss out on any of the music whilst pissing. Open, airy, smoke free inside. But damn, could the service be any slower? Three bartenders taking their sweet ass time and helping people that just walked up to the bar rather than the people they saw that were waiting before. Maybe at least pretend to work for your tips? hmmmm... maybe you will find me on Mississippi next time. At least my drinking partner's cleavage was lovely. read more

Too cool for a sign and too cool for you too, unless you are a pretentious hipster/snob then you'll fit right in and probably think that the bartender treating you like crap is so "cool"... I go by here twice a day (going to and from work) and always wanted to stop by because the outside space looked like it might be nice. Total waste of time. The bathrooms are nasty, inside is dark and depressing, and the outside space is ruined by all the smokers. Nothing special to bring me back just to get treated like I'm not cool enough to be there. read more

I think my original review might have too harsh. I do think one of the nice things about Vendetta is the vegetarian roast beef sandwich and the staff seems nice. However I still think the drink selection is ok and nothing special. It's nice place to have a late night drink and hang out with friends. read more

Went there for geek trivia night and was NOT impressed. Decent selection of beers, but wow was the wait staff lousy. The two guys behind the bar were your average okay I can take a top off a beer bottle bartenders, but there was one girl working who was HORRIBLE. I know it was busy, but seriously leave the crappy attitude at home. You do not need to throw empty beer bottles in the recycling bin so hard that the glass breaks and makes everyone jump. Repeatedly. Over and over again. There are so many other places to go in Portland, and I think I'm going to choose those over this one next time. read more

Vendetta is awesome. We go here almost every Friday. The food kinda sucks but everything else about it is great! you should go there.

Vendetta is by far one of my favorite Portland establishments. I recently had my birthday party there and the owner reserved half the tables in the bar for me on a Friday night with short notice. The bartenders are super friendly, the patio is bar far the best in town and the place has a great random mix of people. You never know who your going to run into. You can't go wrong with cheap cocktails (Tara P. must not get out much) and a rad patio. Vendetta will always be a favorite! read more

I have been meaning to write a review about this great neighborhood bar for a while. Its a place I l frequent because it has a great vibe and the atmosphere is very chill. The beer and wine selection are good and they pour a strong drink. I have had a few food items like the nachos and a pork quesadilla both of which were very good. The patio is awesome with lots of tables and space. Overall, great place. read more

The food and drinks here are fairly good, but the service leaves much to be desired. Even though there was only 5 or 6 other people in the bar, it took about 10 minutes each time we ordered drinks to get our drinks (there was a group of about 6 of us). And this is ordering at the bar. The bartenders would literally ignore us standing in front of them to do dishes, sweep, or chat with each other. We were summarily kicked off the patio long before close because "We close the patio early", and the server tried to pick up and throw away half-full drinks of people that had gone to the restroom. Later, five minutes before close, the server came to our (now inside) table and said "Time to go" and abruptly picked up all of our food and drink. Mind you, this is when we were tipping anywhere from 25-40% on each order. Will not go back, ever. read more

I love how the people who "hate hipsters" ARE hipsters.... ahahahahaa..... anyway, Vendetta is what it is. A bar. It has food to fill your belly, stiff drinks & good beer. A patio and shuffleboard are an added bonus. Nothing to complain about here! If you don't like it, you're probably expecting too much from your neighborhood bar. I mean come on! My girlfriend and I love this place! We feel very comfortable there. I know that the customers LOVE the huge back patio, but we aren't smokers and there is a lot of smoking going on back there. The shuffle board is usually up for grabs, though we don't usually go on a Friday or Saturday night. Usually the drinks are good; I've only had one that I had to send back and ask a different bar tender to make it. The food is to be expected at a bar. read more

this is my four days a week bar, two blocks from home. so, part of my positivity comes simply from the convenience. but, i've been to so many bars in my day, and yet i still feel more comfortable at v. maybe it's the stiff stiff stiff drinks, fresh sangria on select days, tasty veggie nachos, cheap beers, or ample outdoor seating, or maybe it's the fact that i don't feel out of place coming here straight from work without stopping to change into some hipster getup. the folks at vendetta are straight-up cool and welcoming, and nothing about the bar is too obtrusive on even the busiest nights when i want to come here with my roommate and just bullshit for an hour or two. overall well worth a couple tries to see if it fits your tastes. read more
