Luke and his team did an AMAZING job painting our kitchen cabinets. Such great care and attention to detail. We used a black lacquer which is unforgiving if there are any flaws. The job was flawless and looked better than a factory finish. They also mounted our new hardware too. Considering the amount of work they did, this project was a pretty fast turn around. Luke is also very responsive and quick to start a process for you. I would highly recommend them for this type of work in your home. Luke and his team at Venetian Designs are fantastic! My wife and I are truly grateful for their contributions to the remodel of our townhouse. Luke and his team were timely, professional and their quality of work was impeccable - they are just overall great to work with for shorter or longer-term projects. As we think about future needs, Venetian Designs will 100% be our go-to team. We had a laundry lists of project "asks" for Luke and his team: paint our entire house (three floors), install new base boarding and trim throughout the house (inclusive of our old wooden windows), paint our kitchen cabinets, create built-in shelving and cabinets for our living room, install recessed lighting throughout our home, install new doors throughout the home, gut and completely remodel 2.5 bathrooms, add wainscoting as accents, sand and re-stain our staircases and re-do the aesthetics and tiling around our fireplace, finish unfinished closet space to turn into a wine cellar, finish another unfinished area of our basement including adding ceiling tiles (to name a few). One of the many things we truly appreciated in working with Luke and his team was their willingness to expand their typical work expertise beyond painting, which by the way, is picture perfect as they really know how to pay attention to all the small details...my wife and I still joke that we can get lost in the deep blue on one of the walls. What I can't stress enough is how great of a project manager Luke is. He is open about other jobs that his team may have, but will always make you feel like you're his priority. He's always responsive and doesn't "ghost" his customers. In terms of project planning, Luke did a thorough job thinking through our master shower remodel which included stripping down an older tub and shower and turning the space into a 6 foot long shower. This is the type of contractor you want to partner with you and what separated Luke from the other contractors we evaluated early in the remodel decision. Again, what really sets Venetian Designs apart is their abilities to project plan, to provide guidance on whether or not something is structurally possible or aesthetically makes sense and to be proactive in communication around timelines, cost, materials needed, etc. He was truly transparent about what could be done within our budget and provided great ideas for alternative ways to achieve the look that we wanted. Luke is one of the most professional contractors we've ever dealt with and I highly recommend him and his men at Venetian Design. We are planning for our first baby and had several painters come give quotes and walk through our house. Luke was very fairly priced (not the cheapest but also certainly not the most expensive) and I really appreciated that the paint was included in the price so as to avoid any unexpected cost if extra coats were needed. They just completed the job last week and we are so thrilled! Our whole house looks so clean and updated. A few specific points: - Luke was great about adding a trim touch-up here, painting our mantle there without adding $20 for this, $20 for that. - We didn't really know how to handle the small door jam around our closets and he was full of ideas. We ended up going with his suggestion to pain it to match the walls (previously it was white and not matching the walls) and it looks so much better - We had some old phone jacks that we never use and he patched those up for free - We had several areas where the drywall was less than perfect / totally messed up and he and his men did a great job fixing those - We added on a ceiling re-paint AFTER they had already completed the walls (less than ideal) and he was super nice about it and made time for the extra work without having to extend the deadline. We had one small issue arise during a full weeks worth of work and Luke was very understanding about re-doing / adjusting the plan and also was reasonable about adjusting the fees to match. The only thing they could have done better was cover all the floors the whole time because there were a handful of paint spots on our floors. These ended up wiping up fairly easily with some pain floor cleaner from Home Depot. Overall, they did a great job and I would definitely use them again. Thanks Luke! read more

We just did a home remodel here so I left a few reviews for local contractors and it made me wonder if I had ever left one for my favorite Chicago/IL painters. Luke and his team (we worked mostly with him, John and Alan) are incredible. We used them for multiple projects at our condo in Lakeview and our home in Park Ridge and would never call anyone else in the Chicago area. They are so much more than painters. They are artists. Anything I dreamed up, they took on. Most recently they built us a custom fireplace that turned out absolutely incredible. By the time we left IL it felt like they were family friends. Our experience with Luke and his team was nothing short of phenomenal. I have no doubt that Luke is the most responsive, no nonsense, straightforward contractor on the planet. I thought I had my shit together, and then I met him. He's so on top of things it's beyond impressive. The week after I first contacted Venetian, our kitchen cabinets were refinished while we were out of town and we came back to impeccable work. They started on Monday and finished on Friday. We generally knew what we wanted but Luke made recommendations along the way and answered of all of my questions quickly and thoroughly. The paint job is perfect - no joke - and some minor adjustments to cabinet doors were made when Luke stopped by to give us back our keys. I had reached out to some competitors for quotes and not only were they much higher but they were booked up until the summer or fall. A+++ Venetian Designs was responsible for the interior on my commercial photography studio in Naperville, IL. I'll admit I had some strange requests (being an artist) but that didn't bother them at all! The work that was done, was far better than I could have ever imagined, and I get compliments on it everyday! We have used Venetian Designs (Luke and John) for several projects in the past 1 1/2 years. He has painted several rooms in our house and completely painted the exterior of our house along with replacing a large area of cedar siding. Last week Luke, John and Alan installed new hardwood acacia flooring in our master bedroom, dressing room and upstairs hallway. They also painted the walls, ceilings and woodwork in the bedroom, dressing room and hall. All of this work was complicated by some extremely large pieces of furniture in the bedroom and dressing room. Luke and John were able to move these and work around them. The finished work is impeccable and absolutely beautiful. As promised, the work was started on Monday and completed on Friday. Truly amazing. Our experience with Luke is that he always meets his commitments. He is very communicative (by phone and email), and always is at our house at the time he says he will be. We recently purchased a house that has cove ceilings (the walls curve into the ceiling instead of having corners). The family room desperately needed to be painted and we couldn't figure out how to do a decent job ourselves, so we started calling painters. Luke came out the next day and gave us a quote before he left. He seemed interested in doing the work and confident that it would look good (which is more than I can say for the other painter who came out). His price was very reasonable. We hired him and just a few days later he came out and painted the trim in two rooms, added quarter round in both, did some minor plaster repairs and painted the ceiling and walls of one room - two coats on everything - in less than 10 hours. Not a single streak out of place, not an ounce of splattered paint anywhere. It's fabulous! I am very happy with all of his advice and work ethic. He comes on time every time and does a good job. We have hired Luke and his team for several projects in our home over the past two years and they did an awesome job on every single one. They installed a custom bench in our mud room, stained an outdoor fence, painted the lintel (metal trim along our roof), added wood trim to our bedroom and wood frames to our basement windows, and painted various rooms throughout our home. Luke was extremely responsive each time we called him for a project and was almost always able to start and finish the project inside a week or two. Everyone on his team is highly skilled, as well as friendly and professional. The paint jobs they've done for us are always flawless, and the carpentry work is similarly top notch. He and his team were courteous, professional, on time each day, and above all, honest. Luke is just an all around good guy. I worked with Luke and his team for a couple of small projects. Luke is really easy to work with and replies to emails and questions as soon as he can and explains things very well. He worked with me on pricing as budget was a big factor in deciding on what I can get done now rather than later. On both days, they arrived exactly on time, covered all furniture perfectly and did a great job. They painted the cabinets in my small kitchen really well. The finish is smooth and the cabinets look new. Installed and painted crown molding and added a few shelves. Everything was done meticulously and I am very happy with the entire experience. At the end of it all, they left the space pretty clean and tried putting everything back to its original spot which is saying a lot as I have had experiences with very messy contractors who don't bother cleaning after themselves. Additionally, Luke went ahead and painted a small area which was not even included in the contract. I really appreciate that. After much deliberation and several estimates later we opted to have our original 1950's wooden kitchen cabinets repainted. Additionally-all walls, ceiling & trim. I found Luke on yelp and he promptly came and gave us what we found to be a very fair estimate. Luke was extremely professional through out and arrived exactly when he said he would each day, which over the years I have found not to be the case with many other contractors. He was organized, clean and completed the job on schedule, even coming to finish up on the 4th of July! It's been nearly 7 months and we couldn't be happier. Our kitchen is very much a "working" kitchen with 90% of our waking time spent in it. In addition to heavy cooking, we have two small boys who are constantly leaving fingerprints and driving matchbox cars, etc...over all surfaces. When he come estimate he said will be painting the walls 3 coats, all wood will be painting 2 coats but he didn't.!!! On the walls some place 2 coats but almost only one coat without sanding all woods he just did one coat all glasses of windows messed up with the paint look so naughty. I couldn't believe my shop get painted by professionals I try contact him too many times but he didn't pick up my call, or answered my texts messages. I found Luke on Yelp and he had all positive reviews so I decided to give him a call. We actually had about 4 or 5 companies come out to give us estimates because our paint job was fairly extensive. Our entire place had light oak trim and the bold and unattractive paint colors that the previous owners had selected. We wanted to paint all of the trim, kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, window frames, wooden fireplace, etc. white and all of our walls new colors (rooms with 22 foot ceilings). While one company walked out and said they couldn't handle such a large scale job, Luke seemed unfazed and managed the entire job by himself in about 3 weeks. Luke is very much a professional. Every day during that three week period, Luke was punctual and managed to get to our place by 8 a.m. Additionally, I have two cats and was a little nervous at first by the prospect of people coming and going when my husband and I weren't home (what if someone left the door open and they got out, etc) but Luke actually loved my cats and would pet them! They loved him so much that they followed him from room to room. Luke did an amazing job. We have gotten so many compliments from friends and family who saw the incredible transformation of our condo. Luke really takes pride in his work. After he finished (and his check was cashed), we found a tiny area that needed touch-up and Luke came back and made sure we were 100% happy. I was in desperate need to find painters three days before Thanksgiving when we got a few warm days for the exterior painting of the front of our house. I contacted Luke on Saturday and he returned my call within two hours. Luke listened to my situation (we only had a couple of days when the weather was warm enough for the exterior painting) and fit me in his schedule. He gave me an estimate on Sunday and it was a fair price. Luke and his coworker arrived on Monday and Luke brought the contract for me to sign. When we decided to repaint our kitchen and started stripping what we thought were "little bubbles" caused by water on the kitchen ceiling, we thought it would be no big deal. We found that we had a paint adherence issue with our old paint, which we never realized until it started coming off like a fruit roll-up. Those little bubbles on the ceiling - they weren't going to be bad, right? So we attacked them slowly and the plaster started raining down on our heads. We created a nightmare. After reading all of these rave reviews on Yelp about Luke and Venetian Designs, I figured I would give him a call and braced myself for an unprepared expense. Luke showed up exactly at the time he promised, looked at the walls and ceiling and told us it could be done in several visits. I decided to push my luck and ask him to include in his quote the installation of a new laminate floor. He promised to email me a quote that night. I was anxious when I saw that an email came through and when I saw his quote, I thought he was extremely fair and reasonable with his figures. We decided to go ahead with the work. I read a couple of reviews on Yelp saying that people would just leave for work and ask Luke and John to close up behind them. Truly, my thought was "REALLY???? Who does that?" After the incredibly beautiful job they did on our kitchen, if I had a first-born, I would totally entrust my child with these two gentlemen. They are not just painters. They have such an eye for detail and complete perfection - they are artists. To say that I adore Venetian Designs Painting and Decorating is an understatement. When my dad came to see the work in our kitchen, he was in awe as well. They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. I strongly recommend Venetian Designs for cabinet refinishing. Luke and John refinished our cabinets for our kitchen, laundry room, and two bathrooms. We did this instead of getting new cabinets or refacing -- this was a fraction of a cost and the cabinets look like new. a. The quality of work was top notch -- multiple coats of primer, multiple coats of paint, sanding in between to get a smooth finish and minimize the appearance of wood grains) b. The speed of work was impressive -- it felt like a couple week job but they were diligence and well coordinated c. They had very limited impact on our lifestyle -- each day (over 4 days) they packed up and tidied up after each day so that we could use our kitchen and bathrooms d. Pricing was solid -- I quoted with another guy who does cabinet refinishing for a living and Venetian came in competitive while offering a similar process in terms of number of coats, etc. e. The process throughout was perfect -- Luke was extraordinarily responsive to calls, texts, emails, and made me comfortable in every step of the process, from a fast quote, to 12-hour deliver of a sample color board after picking up samples, to a fast start at7:30am sharp on the first day f. Also, Luke and John were willing to help me with a couple things related to our bathroom remodel that were a bit too complex for me, so they overdelivered on the scope. I'm only able to comment on Venetian Designs for cabinet refinishing (for which I'd obviously recommend them for based on review above), but I can tell Luke and John have a good skillset and they care about the quality of their work, so I will consider them for jobs in the future beyond just painting. read more

Well, I had Luke come out and give an estimate on painting the front of my house. He looked the house over, had a few questions and left after about 10 -15 minutes. He promised to have the quote to me that night - AND HE DID! He was so reasonable regarding pricing, always easy to get hold of, whether email or phone and let me say this loud and clear - ON TIME when he came to the house - 8 am! I called the top 5 of the best reviewed painters in my area, and noone responded as quickly or as politely as Luke! He called me back the same evening after I left a voicemail! He gave me a rough quote over the phone, and when he came to take a look it was the same price! By far, the best price of any of the 5 I called. He painted a living room/dining room combo, a powder room, kitchen, two story entry foyer with an accent wall, and all the upstairs halls in one day!
