Great hotel, my only complaint was how noisy it was. Every. Single. Night. It's not the hotel's fault, it's just their location. Since there is no air conditioning, you leave your windows open, which is great because the weather is perfect. I prefer it to ac. Except for the fact that with everyone's window open and the homeless people that fill the boardwalk, you are bound to hear everything. I bought ear plugs at CVS for $2 and was fine. The rooms are really spacious and a couple could fit very comfortably. The near full kitchen (everything but a full oven- there's a toaster oven) let me save money on groceries all week. It was a great place to stay and I was sad to leave. By the end of my week in LA it started to feel like home away from home. I loved the renovations and wood floors, as well as the plush white bed that felt so comfortable and clean. The linens and comforter are not low quality so I wasn't shivering every night or feeling icky. They were very comfortable. The rates I got were very inexpensive for the location and time of year. They did not reflect the quality of the hotel. read more

Honestly, i went there just because of all the reviews. Worst mistake ever. So we got the memo about staff not being around, that this is an apartment complex, youre on your own, blah blah we got it. The worst part is that the pictures online dont show how the place actually looks, well atleast not room 7 on the bottom floor. The room was right in the alley, one window in the back, two on the side by the parking lot. The windows DID NOT LOCK. NONE OF THEM. and there were bars on only one window, therefore if someone pressed their hands up against the window and pushed pretty lightly they are good to go in our room. I was scared to sleep because i had a homeless man follow me into the hotel the first day. Our furniture was old and scratched everywhere, unlike the brand new ikea style photos from their website. Baseboards yellow and crusty instead of white. All of the cabinets were so sticky that they were hard to open so of course we were grossed out to eat anything there. Im giving two stars because of the rooftop which is beautiful and because we had on demand (yay). We asked to pay and upgrade the room with a simple response of "nope all booked", no questions about whats the issue or anything. We talked to a guy who was staying upstairs who said his room was an ikea showroom, i wish ours was at least that. read more

We had a fantastic experience here. Like the other reviews say it's a great location, the rooftop is the bee's knees, it's cute, etc etc. The price tag is totally appropriate for what you're getting. We saved coin by cooking and preparing meals. I would recommend this place to a friend. BUT. Bear in mind there IS NO AC. We opened the windows to be greeted with the sounds of Venice hobos and crows cawing EVERY NIGHT/MORNING. Windows were missing screens so I got bit by oodles of mosquitoes every night. My husband and I came here expecting to have a nice stay right on the beach. The staff was nice however when we walked in we were VERY disappointed. We came at night and every alley had very sketchy person in it and I did not feel safe whatsoever. The parking garage is very far from the property so if you do come I recommend you come in the day. When we finally came to the room it was disgusting. There was hair on the walls/windows in the bathroom, the shower floor was yellow, the floors in the entire suite were sticky and dirty, and there was glitter on the couch. After seeing this I didn't even want to sleep in the bed. We didn't even want to put our bags on the floor. If I could do no stars I would. Go somewhere else. read more

For $200+ a night you would think that it would have a better view and more quiet. I got a view of the neighbors instead of the beach on the 3rd floor. I could hear my neighbors talking through the walls and all the footsteps and stomping of the people upstairs. The elevator was outdated and I was worried about getting stuck so my boyfriend and I would use the stairs to get to our room. We stayed here yesterday night and woke up to garbage trucks and large trucks backing up and dumping trash. People were screaming as they were walking by, it was very unpleasant for a Monday morning. We had to park a couple streets over in the parking lot for overnight, which was another $20. Granted it's close to the beach and a 30 minute walk to the Santa Monica Pier. I would not come back mostly due to how loud it gets. read more

Great hotel right on the boardwalk in Venice Beach. About a half mile down the boardwalk from Muscle Beach and the skateboard park. Lots of shirt shops and the alike outside. Lots of small shops for misc knick knacks local as well. read more

This hotel is really cool and a great value. Right on the beach with free parking and free wifi for under $200/night? Can't beat that anywhere in LA that I know of. I didn't experience any noise, but maybe I was on the quiet side of the building (the even numbers), because my coworkers I was traveling with did say it was loud with drunk people yelling, homeless people kicking bottles around, whatever; like I said, I had no complaint about the noise personally. As far as the area goes, it's Venice. Anyone who's been to Venice Beach should already know what to expect. The rooms were really nice; wood floors, plenty of space, kitchen area, Direct TV or digital cable, no complaints there. The elevator is old school with the cage, pretty unusual for LA and something I loved. There's also a rooftop deck with couches and a grill overlooking the ocean. My only complaint was with the customer service; which is literally non-existent. It's actually cool in a way because the hotel does not have a typical front desk, and they will just leave your keys in a lock box waiting for you. You really shouldn't even need to deal with the staff at all under normal circumstances, which is fine with me. Unfortunately, if you do have to deal with the staff, stand by. The traditional hotel industry prides itself on bending over backwards to satisfy its customers and addressing concerns. Venice Suites is by no means a traditional hotel, and they are quick to tell you that. "The customer is always right?" Not here my friend. Here it's their way or the go eff yourself way. Like I said, you probably will have little to no contact with the staff and it's pretty much designed to be that way. I was just not so lucky. read more

This was the perfect little staycation right on the boardwalk. I stayed in the 4th floor apartment and the view was lovely and calming and the sunset watching cannot be beat. Everything is within walking distance and all the wonderful weirdness of Venice is right outside the door! A bottle of wine and some appetizers on the roof deck is perfection. This place is great! It's not your typical hotel, there's no room service or breakfast, but none of that seemed to matter. We had a room on the fourth floor; a queen studio with a partial ocean view. The room was super cute, clean and comfortable. The ocean, the vendors, and everything you go to Venice for is literally right outside of the front door. The garage provided (for a small fee) for parking is about a five minute walk from the building. There is also a rooftop that is all set up with seating areas and a grill with an awesome view. I would recommend, however, packing lightly. We came here from spending a week somewhere else and didn't want to leave all of our belongings in the car.. They have an elevator but with a weight limit so we had to make a few trips. Parking around the building is also limited. Otherwise this place is totally worth it. read more

Rooms: The building is obviously an old urban apartment complex but with a modern Californian make over. I love the old school elevator. The rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. I appreciated the full kitchen. The roof deck was great for eating breakfast outside and watching the sunset. There are beach and city views. Location: excellent location, right on the boardwalk and close enough to all the action but far enough away from the rougher and louder parts of the boardwalk. Noise: The Venice boardwalk is by definition a loud, obnoxious and very quirky place, so if street noise bothers you, you should probably not be staying on the boardwalk. Service: There is someone at the desk during business hours 8-5ish, but that's about it. Parking: Free parking is off site. Only a 7 minute walk. read more

The rooms are clean, has real cable (not just 10 channels), internet and private bathrooms. I have stayed here several times the past couple of months and it has consistently been one of the best deals in West LA. It's basically an apartment and didn't even feel like a hotel. It's very beautiful, we still got the street view and the beach view. The door was just weird cause when we would leave in the day, it wouldn't locked till later in the night. But other than that, we love it! Worth it for the location. As many others have said, there's nothing really luxury about this hotel, but everything is nice. The rooms are nice, the one I'm in has a queen bed in a separate bedroom, sofa bed, and kitchenette. There is no AC, but the combination of windows and fans seem to be working just fine. I would take the lack of AC into consideration before staying here in the summer, but for March it's just fine. The location is the biggest pro and the biggest con. You're literally right on the boardwalk, which means you're close to everything happening and the beach is mere steps away. The downside is that it's quite loud, and without the AC you might want to sleep with the windows open, but that can be difficult when it's loud. Some other nice things about this hotel: -Free parking. It's not right next to the hotel, and it's kinda complicated to get into, but it's FREE -Free WiFi. Seems fast too. I'm streaming a hockey game as I write this review. read more

Partial beachview for our room was a joke but we didnt mind as it was better to get outside. It is beachfront so you have homeless individuals outside and around the whole area. The walk from the parking garage to the hotel is not bad, about 5 mins. Overall, we loved it. No complaints. read more

Solid choice on the boardwalk. Having said that, the area can be a bit congested and noisy at times, particularly on summer weekends. Management was attentive and helpful, Ethan and Randy in particular went out of their way to help me out with some minor room issues. The rooms are basic but clean with a nice feel and amenities, beds were comfortable and clean, and the rooftop patio is a great place to unwind and soak it all in. Parking is offsite but secure and only a few blocks away, close to Chaya, The Anchor, Sauce, and a bunch of other great spots. All in all a good place to stay. read more

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who would have some reservations walking around Venice at night as parking is far away. We never had any trouble walking around anytime day or night. They have a great kitchen set up in all the rooms, so we take all of our own munchies!! The staff is great too!! I paid $262 dollars a night. I paid $10 dollars for parking. The parking structure is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The elevator doesn't work. The hotel is dingy. Inside the room it looks like a Select Suites. I would rather lodge off the boardwalk than to subject myself to a low budget hotel again. The water view from the rooms are nothing noteworthy. The hotel is just very poor quality. read more

The place is not luxurious, it is furnished with ikea. The door of out room didn't close. I had to use a knife to remove a piece and be able to lock the door, one of the window fell down and i could barely manage to put it back in the frame. There was nobody to call. The emergency number was going on the voice mail and nobody called back, the heating didn't work, they said the place was self check in and we would find the keys in the lock box outside but there was no key inside the lockbox. And by the way they use a very simple code for all the lockboxes and when i was trying to see what happened to our key i managed to open ball the other lockboxes (which were all empty). The place is freaking expensive and it is semi-dump. Absolutely don't go there. read more

I'm not often able to save up enough to splurge on a getaway, so when it started raining hard after I had already booked, I decided to make the best of it. I booked thru getaroom, and called to confirm the reservation. The getaroom rep said he had spoken to Venice Suites and everything was prepared for my stay - he even confirmed that he had resolved a name discrepancy and the hotel would take care of it for me. When I arrived to the hotel, there was a sign on the door that the office was closed, and to check my email for my self check in code. Unfortunately I had no email. So my friend and I are standing in the rain, and at this point Venice Suites hasn't really done anything wrong, so I'm wet and unhappy but I definitely wasn't blaming them. I call the number on the notice and get this dude who says he can't find my name (the name mix up wasn't corrected as I was told). Ok, I give him the other name and he says there is no code for me so he'll drive down and check me in - tells me 10-15 minutes. 25 minutes later, we're wet and need to pee, and the guy hasn't showed. I call the number again, and he's like "Oh yeah I talked to you 10 minutes ago" I was like "yeah, 25 minutes ago" at this point he says he can't hear me until I drop the 25 minutes talk and then he can suddenly hear me again. Miraculously, my key was at the front door all along! I asked him about my car as there are no signs where I parked, and he just said everything is in the room and he can't help me. I asked if I could speak to someone about the check in process and he said "I can't do anything for you, talk to check out tomorrow". The room is very nice, but I'm pretty dissatisfied with the service so far. I will talk to checkout tomorrow and update my review. Edit: The gracious staff made this right for me in the morning. I am now satisfied and updated my rating to reflect that. :) read more

The good: location, clean rooms, and rooftop deck The bad: beds are soooo uncomfortable and the first floor is so loud that I could not get even a wink of sleep. Upstairs guests on wooden floors sound like a herd of elephants along with parking lot 2 inches from window - headlights and drunk people yelling all night. The ugly: management did not care at all when I told them I couldn't sleep there and asked for a refund. They said no refunds and no apologies or concern, they said they have tempurpedic new beds (they do not, we looked at mattress) and that they've never heard this before so it must just be us (contrary to their responses to other similar reviews!!!) they obviously know and don't care. We had to move to another hotel while still paying for one that was so loud we couldn't sleep for days and my whole body hurts from the crap mattresses. read more

We absolutely loved Venice Suites! It was our first time to LA and we wanted to check out Venice Beach for its unique culture, but didn't have a place to stay after. A friend recommended it to us and we couldn't have been happier with our choice! The owner, Randy, was very friendly and got back to us right away with any questions we had. We loved the upstairs patio that overlooked the entire beach - plus the patio furniture was SO cute! Our room was an oceanfront room so it also looked out onto the ocean - on the 2nd floor. Just came back from a relaxing stay at probably one of the best hotels on the boardwalk. I LOVE that the steps come right down to the boardwalk. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was super comfortable. There is no need for air conditioning given the breeze that comes in. I was surprised at the fully stocked kitchen, including dishwasher, as well as the outdoor kitchen on the rooftop. There are loungers and dining table on the roof where you can sit and watch people. Randy was super helpful when it came to booking our stay next weekend with the family! read more
