The wine bar is very busy, and there are plenty of cafe tables and chairs to relax and enjoy your wine. Check the website for live music schedules as that can really enhance your experience. The cafe overlooking the vineyard and Seneca Lake is one of the prettiest places I've ever had lunch. The salad was fresh and loaded with local fruits and veggies. The pizza was not my favorite, and the escarole and bean soup was tasty yet a little oily for me. I had a glass of Vino Rosso with lunch, an easy drinking red blend that I liked and brought home a bottle. There are countless wineries in this region, but if you're doing a wine tour I'd say Ventosa is a must see. read more

Attended a wedding here and was very impressed. From the outside, the 'Tuscan style' structure is very similar to Casa Larga Vineyards, but the food and view are a cut above. The view over Seneca lake, especially for sunset, across the vineyard, was just gorgeous, and really beautiful for a wedding. Food service was fast/efficient and all the food was beautiful to look at, high quality and delicious. My dinner was a piece of white fish (guessing cod) with a seafood stuffing and a kind of sauce/gravy, served with haricot vert and whipped potatoes with an edible flower - one of the best meals I've had at a wedding ever. My husband had the steak - same whipped potatoes and beans as sides - but the meat was amazing - cooked perfectly, nicely marbled, great flavor, and a generous portion. This was the 8th vineyard we visited on our trip and the only one that truly disappointed. In particular, our Ventosa Deluxe Panino abused the word "Deluxe". The menu describes Prosciutto, salami, capiola and roasted red peppers. Technically, they were included in the sandwich. But one, extremely thin slice each, and just the hint of red peppers were found between the slices of bread. You literally couldn't put any less ingredients in the sandwich without blatantly lying. This is a self-service cafe - you get your own menu, fill it out, deliver it to the counter. The wait staff does deliver it. You also get your own drinks at a different counter. No description of the wine was offered. The wine glass required after a good cleaning with the napkin to eliminate smudges. We saw a lot of staff at other vineyards hand-cleaning the glasses. It's very labor intensive - but required if you want guests to sample wine in sparkling glasses. Ventosa apparently thinks it isn't worth the money. This paltry sandwich (for $15.95) and minimal service could be excused by "covid" a year ago. But every other vineyard on this visit was doing much better. Here, we felt ripped off. read more

COVID precautions: when you arrive they direct you either to the porch or the tasting room depending on your plans. If dining, you receive a menu and a dry erase marker. Find a table, mark your choices, bring to the counter, pay, they bring you the food. Tables are spaced apart on the porch; servers are wearing masks. Ambiance: nice view of Lake Seneca over the vineyards. Covered porch. Tables/chairs black wrought iron. Wine: pretty good! Food: remember the first season of Top Chef when they had to make a dinner using only gas station variety store ingredients? That's what you're getting. Cheese plate: three types of jack cheese (two types of pepper jack!) with soda crackers. Marinated chicken wrap: listless combo of cubed chicken breast, vegetables, and a nondescript dressing. My sandwich had a long hair stuck to the bottom. So much missed opportunity. The wine deserves better to show it off. read more

I have been to any winery on the fingerlakes and this was an awesome place to begin. The view alone is out of this world. It's located right on seneca lake and for sure Instagram worthy. They do weddings/events here and there was one going on while we were visiting. There's outside seating to sit right above the lake. The food was fine nothing to write home about. There was also a do it yourself motto with a drink machine of pop & water. It worked. We did a wine tasting for $10/each and were able to try 5 types of wines. What a wonderful place! I visited this winery in July of 2020 (pandemic) and it was not too crowded due to the Covid. I sat on the patio (I highly recommend it for a great view) and was promptly served by a nice young man. I ordered their pizza and a bottle of Riesling. Both were wonderful!!! I stayed long enough to watch the sun set...beautiful. The next day I noticed I was missing my hearing aide. Having been to a few wineries I thought it was lost for sure... $$$$$$ oops! On the way home Sunday, I decided to stop in and see if they found it. I talked to a nice young girl and she told me they did find one. Yippie!!!! She spent some time looking for it as they put it in a "safe" place. We all know about those "safe" places. Seems we can never find them once we leave something in them! Well I left them my bussiness card with my phone number. To my surprise a few hours later I received a call from , I presume the manager, apologizing to me. I'm thinking... I LOST IT...there is no need for you to apologize! lol Well he took my address and mailed it express to me. I received it two days later!!! In my opinion this winery is a class act, and the people who work there go well out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful experience. My partner and I had a nice afternoon here on our way to Ithaca. Beautiful venue, patio, with tall ceilings inside the banquet hall. Tuscan theme is pulled together well. Nice view of the lake over the vineyards. Despite the the vineyard being understaffed, they did a nice job of accommodating to each guest. The food also seemed slightly over priced $19 for a small pizza and $9 for a side salad. Side salad was a bit of a disappointment just was okay for $8 I had higher expectations. The wines were also mostly a disappointment I ended up only liking the first Dry Resiling at the top of their list. I've toured Italy and these wines definitely aren't Italian like at all. The service definitely left something to be desired it was mostly the wine worker asking what was next on my list to try and rushing me through to the end. No explanations of each wine or chatting with us through our tasting. It made me regret my tipping percentage when I purchased my food prior to receiving the service. My husband and I visited for our first time on a Wednesday evening, with much anticipation from the previous reviews. We showed up right before 5pm to do a tasting and were told - with a bit of attitude - that tastings cannot happen between 5&6PM because they wouldn't be able to handle a tasting for two and all the traffic of those trying to get BOGO glasses of wine. I see this no where on their website, otherwise we would have planned our visit differently. We sat at a table facing the wine bar which had between two to three bartenders at a time and never more than two patrons ordering wine at once. I went up for a second glass and overheard the bartender who refused to let us do a tasting allowing another woman to taste test each wine before deciding which she liked best (soooo.... a tasting?). We ordered a pizza and cheesy garlic bread. Both were mediocre. The older woman at the register at the cafe was extremely sweet and welcoming. The two stars are for the atmosphere and view alone. read more

such a beautiful balcony overlooking the river. we got there rigjt before the sunset and apparently this is one of the very few wineries that are open after 5pm. no one was there and it was so quite, out of a sudden everyone starting showing up to the winery, one of the staff told that this place is well known for their sunset service because of the view! they have special outdoor sunscreen so while you are enjoying your sunset, the sun actually does not bother you at all! we got wine and pizza and everything was great! The view. It's all about the view. I wanted to rush through my tasting just so I could get out there on the back porch overlooking the lake and the vineyard. Except you don't want to rush through the tasting because the wines are lovely. I went for the tasting of 5 wines for $8. Of the 5, the rosé was my all time fave - just sweet enough, but still relatively dry - a great summer wine. It also smelled like cheese (in a good way) and wanted to pair it with some so badly. The Dolce was also an interesting one to sample - the lady pouring for us recommended it to mix it up. You'd definitely wake up with a hangover if you drank a bottle, but if split between friends, it's a great summer bottle to share. They also have a cafe with food - pizzas were going out left and right and smelled heavenly. We should have ordered one. Oh, life's regrets. Ventosa probably has one of the best views of upper Seneca lake/Geneva. It is absolutely stunning. If you were to choose to have your special wedding day here, I honestly don't blame you. The wine here is also decent. I've stopped here twice and have been satisfied vino-wise. The large room that the tastings occur also have a small cafe and a little wine shop. The last time we came it was a Saturday afternoon and they had live music. The music was pretty loud since the "stage" was literally right in front of the tasting area. But apparently at Ventosa, live music= free tasting! So definitely wasn't complaining after that. The wine prices however are slightly higher than most other wineries on the finger lakes. Strange when we asked the server what types of cheese she had no idea (I guess part of understaffing) . Cheese selection tasted fine but would have appreciated to know which types of cheese they were Pizza - nothing great in terms of taste . We went for grilled crust because the classic crust is fried and thicker per the server and we did not want fried or thick crust Veggie wrap had a little too much acidity Another note - entree and side salad and veggie wrap had more or less the same ingredients (so much for creativity) Unfortunate as this place had all the marketing buzz we were looking forward to it but did not leave upto it's hype. read more

Up until 5pm, they also serve sandwiches, pizza and salad. Would have been great to eat and enjoy the view. But we came too late, 5.45 and they are nice enough to still let us do tasting.
