This was my first visit to this winery and this Seneca lake area in New York. The winery was packed when I walked in and had more of a restaurant vibe than an actual winery depending on what you're looking for. I opted for a semi-dry Riesling since that's what the area is known for! It was fantastic and refreshing on a muggy summer day. The baked Brie with jam was also delicious. The toast was slightly burnt but the whole combination was still tasty! read more

The food was very good. My husband got a French dip, which made my heart ache for gluten. I got a GF pizza. We shared the warm Brie. The kitchen/wait staff was very careful about my order - asked if I was celiac or sensitive, prepared my food separately, brought it out separately. My husband sandwich wasn't made when we ordered and after we asked about his order, they realized their mistake. They made his order quickly and brought it right out, they refunded us the cost of the sandwich and gave us a complimentary glass of wine. The view is great, Definitely worth a stop if your in the area! Thanks! read more

A beautiful vineyard with the lake view. Their wines and the food was too good. We tried the pesto pizza and the margaritha. The crust was thin and perfectly done. The customer service was great too. It has outdoor seating with the lake view which makes it more relaxing. Will be back when we are in the area. read more

First time here and very excited to try! Such a beautiful setting and have always wanted to come here. Ordered up a warm cup of the escarole and bean soup, the cheesy garlic bread and the pizza! The soup was AHMAZING & all the all the other food was great. The service was quick and friendly and you just can't beat the view! I had a glass of the Pinot Gris very light and refreshing and not sweet, paired well with the wine :) Put this winery on your list when you visit the Finger Lakes! read more

This place was pretty cool. It was my first time here and it was conveniently located right on the main road. It was easy to find. I was looking for a winery on the way back from Ithaca. Most places are far from the main road. The staff here was friendly and knowledgeable. I tried a variety of wines and liked quite a few including the Semi Dry Riesling. I would definitely stop back here to tour the grounds. I would recommend this place. read more

So, to start this review off, we got married here in 2011, so it has a special place in my heart. This visit wasn't all that pleasant and I don't feel that they cared at all. We ordered food and wine on the patio in their covid-approved cafe area. They forgot about us. All others got their food and left. My hubby got up and asked a waiter/bus boy and he said sorry, your order got messed up. It's a Tuesday and there were maybe 5 tables at the most. They brought the food out a while later with no apology, no nothing. So angry at this point and disappointed with a place that holds so many memories for us. read more

This is our favorite place on Seneca Lake, and possibly all of the Finger Lakes. The wine is fantastic, the service is typically very good, and the food is amazing. My wife and I were there twice during our trip last year, and made sure to go back yesterday when in the area celebrating our 20th anniversary. We were able to sit on the terrace, overlooking the vineyard and sunset after arriving an hour early for our reservation, which was unexpected and very nice. They were very busy, and service took much longer than usual, but we were not in a hurry so it wasn't a huge issue. My wife loves the semi-dry Riesling, and my favorite is the Saggio XL. We ordered the brie in puff pastry with cherry chutney, and it is one of the best things I have ever eaten. For dinner, my wife had the Tuscan salad, and I asked them to get creative...serving their seared scallops over their garlic risotto instead of the linguine...and it was delicious. We finished with the dessert plate, which was a nice finish to the meal. We plan to get back here as much as possible, despite it being 2 1/2 hours from home. Thank you to the staff and owners for such a great place and great experience. We are already looking forward to our next visit. read more

We were told by a local to try this place for lunch. It did. It disappoint. Nice place. Just walk in grab a menu find a great seat on the patio overlooking the vineyard. Mark on the menu what you want and head back in and turn it in. The service was great. The food was also good. We had a group of 7 so everyone got to pick something off the menu. There was not one bad meal. I recommend the Ventosa deluxe panino and the chicken Cesar wrap. You will love it. read more

Lorraine was the best server for our tasting giving us all the details on each wine and even let me try one that wasn't on my tasting selection because her descriptions just made me need to try it! We returned to Ventosa with another bus load as part of cruise, lunch, and sight-seeing excursion. Enough time was allowed for us travelers to first enjoy a glass or flight on the beautiful terrace in sunny weather or do some shopping before our lunch. The group then moved to the banquet room where we had a buffet consisting of paninis, salad, wraps, and pizza (all delicious) and a table set up with pop, lemonade, coffee and tea. The had a challenge bringing out fresh food to meet our appetites but everything was replenished in a short time and no one left hungry! Special thanks to Rob who was very responsive to our group. Chef Ernesto was easy to work with over the phone and everything was as promised. There was enough variety to meet all dietary needs. read more

Four stars for the tasting experience! The indoors isn't anything special - just one large bar - but the outdoors is breathtaking. Lots of tables with gorgeous views of the lake. We were very underwhelmed with the pizza (we got the toscana pizza and the garlic pizza - both way too cheesy and heavy) but the wine and atmosphere more than made up for it. Highly recommend! We ended up buying bottles of the 2017 Tocai Friulano, Vino Rosso, 2016 Dry Riesling, and 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon. read more

The views were stunning! The food wasn't very good- we ordered a Turkey panini, very sparse on the Turkey and not true to the menu- there was no tomato aioli. The escarole soup was way too salty, though it did balance out the bland panini. The table next to us got the white wine flight. It came with one big glass and tiny plastic shot glasses to sample the wines; subpar. I wouldn't go back, there are so many other vineyards in the area! read more

I came here with a bachelorette party and it was fabulous! The building is very beautiful and has a spectacular view. We were seated in this private area for our tasting. The women who did the wine tasting was so sweet and cute; we all loved her. The wines were probably some of my favorite from the Finger Lakes region. We also got the lunch buffet with the wine. The food was way better than expected. I would definitely recommend getting food here with your wines! They have a great back patio area with seating to enjoy your food and wines with a view. If you're doing a wine tour in the Finger Lakes you need to add this place to your list! read more

Really beautiful venue with delicious wines. My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way to Ithaca and spent a very nice afternoon sampling the wines and enjoying the view of Lake Seneca from their balcony. It is $10 for 5 samples of wine and it is first come first serve for the sampling bar. My favorite was the Dolce Bianco. Highly recommend! read more

Ventosa is breathtakingly goregous and the views are spectacular. As a result, they are super busy. It was the first stop on our tour and we were all eager to give the wines a try, but were quickly underwhelmed and frustrated with wait times for service upon entering. Overcrowding Concern... Ventosa has a larger bar area that lines the right hand side, unfortunately, the only bar that they had open was the smallest one all the way in the back. When we entered, we inquired about the larger bar area but were sent to the back by the server. We waited about 10 minutes, took photos and enjoyed the view. However, still there was no space for our party at the smaller bar area. So we asked the lady at the register if we could again go to the other bar and she checked her sources and said yes. But when our party went over to the group tasting bar, the server was still only serving the one group. Out of frustration, I walked back over to the smaller bar and our group uncomfortably squeezed in there after the previous party vacated. On to the actual wines and service... The wines were great, no complaints. Several were worthy of purchase. Secondly, our server was outstanding. Dare I say worth the wait? She was attentive, organized and provided a great pour for our tasting. Will definitely seek her again, if we return. Ventosa is probably worthy of at least 4-5 stars, but our experience was less than savory and so I'm going to have to account for that. This concern was similarly shared by another group who was saw down the road at Zugibe. They explained that they ultimately ended up leaving, Ventosa altogether, after waiting forever. Clearly this is a major concern that needs to be addressed. read more

I had an exceptional experience here. The staff is very knowledgeable and also very friendly. For wine tasting you get 5 choices for $10, and their wines are delicious. Three full stars for the view, the food, and the wine suggestion. Those aspects are exceptional. The service at the entrance was standard and adequate. The process for ordering seemed to have broken down as the first course and main order all came together (no biggie, but something they should have been able to manage). The server was surprised we had ordered wine - so that was odd. She wasn't sure if we had glasses or a bottle. I showed her our receipt for the bottle. She very promptly brought us two marginally filled glasses. So we had to get up walk inside, unclear who to approach, but I accidentally found the gentleman wine server who made the error. So, after carefully looking at the receipt he realized his mistake, reluctantly acknowledged, and provided us with the bottle. This was fine, but there was an unquestionable note of "you should be happy you got two free glasses of wine." We didn't arrive looking for something free, so that communication missed the mark. He later returned to open the bottle, but our gratitude was too late as he was already walking away, but he did bother to turn his head for a dismissive "sure." There were no utensils. Perhaps they don't own any. We did order pizza, maybe that was why. So, there's a mix of outcomes here I suspect the food prep staff and wine connoisseurs are legit. The servers and wait staff are well groomed, well dressed locals who seem to lack an ability, skill and grace to connect with visitors. There's an air of youthful privilege and arrogance that is quite off putting. As we were leaving we crossed paths with a group of three young ladies. We thanked them and wished them a good day - one provided a sidebar "thank you," the other mean girls were too enraptured in their conversation. read more

First the graphics on the labels of the Ventosa wine bottles are beautiful, and the wine tastes good. There was a nice view of the lake. The staff was professional and nice. The venue was busy because a wedding was going on, but my husband and I were still able to get a nice table outside and a good parking spot. read more

Ventosa is a stop for sure on my Seneca Lake winery hop! To be honest I love the food as much as the wine. We came here this past weekend for lunch and out of our group of 8, everyone raved about their food. I definitely recommend the Turkey panini (with a glass of Pinot Grigio of course). It hit the spot and was warm and gooey and everything you want in a panini. We ate on the deck with a nice view of the lake and vineyard and had an excellent time. Highly recommend! read more

Had a wonderful experience here! John guided us through the sampling of the abundantly delicious offers at Ventosa.. He was very pleasant and informative. The property has beautiful views overlooking the vineyard and lake. We also had the pleasure to meet Jeff, the wine maker, who shared with us all the nuances and processes of how he crafts his art. Great friendly people who obviously care about what they do. Highly reccomend a visit for anyone traveling to the area. We'll be back!! read more

I went for a drive in the Finger Lakes with a friend and we happened upon this winery. It's beautiful inside and the back dining area overlooks the Seneca Lake and the vineyard. When you enter, you'll be greeted by a host/hostess and escorted to either the tasting room or dining area depending on what you wish to start with. We ultimately decided to dine in. You take a dry erase menu to the table and circle what you'd like to order. You bring it inside and pay after which they'll bring your order out. I ordered the Genovese pizza with the suggested dry Riesling. I was very satisfied and the service was great. The staff was very helpful and I'd definitely come back again. read more

Amazing view from a giganticron deck. It is spacious enough that you can focus on your company and not be bothered by others. The twin pourers were friendly and oddly happen to be bff's with the twins in the winery next door. We tried their pizza and were pleasantly surprised. Good experience overall. We did a tasting in the tasting room, only downside is you can't do your tasting outside. However you can use the outdoor area if you order food and wine by the glass/bottle. Most of the staff was very friendly, however the woman who sat us in the tasting room and cashed us out was very unfriendly, did not seem to want to be there. View is amazing, wine is delicious. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Wonderful spot to come and enjoy some great wines with friends and food! They have a vineyard outback so if you sit outside, which we had to because of COVID, it's a very relaxing atmosphere. Plus, the sunsets behind the vineyard so great photo op! I'll definitely be stopping by again! read more

Ventosa Vineyards has 23 acres of vinifera grapes, all grapes are estate grown, and all wine is made and bottled on-site. Many of our wines are international award-winners and our Lemberger is the recipient of the Governor's Cup- best wine in NY State! The winery and Cafe Toscana are open 7 days a week for wine tasting & Mediterranean fare (pizza, wraps, salad, panini, etc) Our La Vista e Bella ballroom seats up to 300 people for your wedding reception or event. For a regular restaurant, with more regular prices and reviews, we wouldn't have minded honestly - but because this place is kinda marketed as one of the better restaurants in Geneva, and priced as such, having a bit of a mediocre meal left us fairly disappointed. Again, great service and fun spot just to be in, and _some_ of the items like the appetizers are pretty tasty (I'd happily come back for another taste of their mussels and focaccia). But we likely won't be coming back anytime soon, particularly as we live out of town. Hope it was just a fluke and that they bounce back.

What really bothered me: the owner (CB) is one of the few Master Sommeliers in the world and a big promoter of the FLX wine region (which I love), so can anyone explain why a glass of FLX wine costs about 40% more than a glass of California or even Australian wine? That's not exactly "Think NY, Drink NY" -- despite those charming stickers around the restaurant (which I do love).

I have been frequenting Ventosa since their opening. From the start, I have been amazed at the place. When you walk in, you feel as if you just arrived in Italy. Apparently, the Owners go to Italy several times a year to research wine, décor, and other Italian Wineries. I have been to multiple weddings here and the food is the best I have had at any event. It's served hot and is very flavorful. Always an all-around good time at the events here! The wine is also the best around! This is evident behind the tasting bar. There are a lot of bottles with awards hanging from them as well as others near the gift shop area. This is probably due to the way they pick their grapes. The Wine Server told us that they pick grapes and if there's anything wrong with the bunch, (dried up, animal nibbles, or anything else) they don't include that in their harvest. This results in a far less yield than doing it the conventional way of using all of the fruit. I believe this "quality over quantity" approach is reflected in their wines. The place gets pretty busy sometimes with multiple busses arriving, sometimes all at the same time, but they have improved this problem by building another LONG tasting bar that spans the entire north end of the winery. I have also noticed they have reinforcements that come up from the basement to help serve the large crowds if they are short-handed. 2 THUMBS UP! If I had more, they would be up too :) read more

I was married at Ventosa Vineyards in 2018 and went back for our 2 year anniversary this weekend. Our wedding was amazing and top-notch. It had rained in the morning and staff WIPED down the grass before our guests got there to make sure it wasn't slippery! They drove my elderly family members around in a golf cart so that they didn't have to strain themselves to get to the lawn area, and to this day people tell me it was the best food they've had at a wedding ever! I trusted the manager RJ with a lot of the decisions we made, and was happy with all of them. There is so much turnover in this industry, it was refreshing to work with someone who had been there for so long, and was married there himself! Visiting during COVID-19 was no different. The service and food was top-notch, and we were able to still have the gorgeous view that attracted us in the first place. Highly recommend! read more

They have put in excellent protocols, and even though it's different and you have to be patient, it's worth it. I have been to Ventosa several times when visiting the Finger Lakes and it's always my favorite winery to visit. The family who runs the winery is as nice as it gets. We have previously been Ravines wine club members and frequently enjoy stopping into their tasting room for wine tasting, food and purchasing bottles. When I asked, for future visits, when the tastings usually stop, I was told 4:30. Ravines may want to update their website and online presence to reflect this (everything posted says 5pm close) as we were disappointed to be unable to finish our Mother's Day celebration at their tasting room. Due to the completely unfriendly welcome (customers were walking past us with fresh pours, clearly having just been served), we opted to leave without purchasing any wine - a significant loss for their business, not only in sales but also in customer loyalty. No one apologized that we couldn't be served or asked if we wanted to purchase any wine. We won't be back any time soon and will share the experience with friends so as to help them avoid a similarly unpleasant experience. We were once loyal but now disappointed Ravines customers.

There seemed to be a good number of locals and slightly older crowd while we were there, which added to the laid back atmosphere. The wine was especially quality and seemed to be the main focus here. I especially enjoyed the steel barrel white wine. Overall, good music, good wine, good service, and an easy going place to spend sometime. I will definitely be visiting again.
