Facials are amazing...if done properly. Everyone has different skin and needs. Yin is has over 20 years of experience and knowledge to make sure my skin and face gets the treatment I need. I have tried prescribed medication, OTC drug and face products and have my own hormonal outbreaks etc. Pretty much the whole spectrum. And they're all different. But you need a clean canvas to absorb even the best skincare. From acne, to scars, to texture, to swelling to moisture levels, Yin can help with that. I've had acne and huge pores for the longest of time. Some are bacterial, some are hormonal. Either way, Yin sure makes it a lot more bearable. She cleaned up my face. This place is a gem. I want to keep it secret so I can always get appointment anytime but Yin is such a sweetheart that I just have to share her with my girlfriends. As a matter of fact, my best friend from New York was tempted to move to Los Angeles after a facial with her! Yin is very gentle when cleaning my face even if she has to do extraction. My face will not look red or splotchy after her facial. In this busy world, what I need is a personalized service that's no nonsense. None of the big fancy spa with the many bells and whistles along with a long waiting that usually involved with the whole 'spa experience'. May be if I'm on a vacation in a resort. One hour of facial, mask, massage, eyebrows trim and facial hair threading for a fraction of what a day spa would charge me. She will be honest and tells you if you need to take better care of your skin. She doesn't push products, mind you. If the service doesn't convince you, just look at Yin's skin. That's skill being put to real personal use. P.S. If you tell her that you want to regularly come for facial every x (month, 2 weeks, etc) Yin will make sure to remind you (via text or call) of your upcoming facial in that week. I like this service. I was able to get exactly what I wanted - a facial and a massage - without the fuss of a day spa. Personally, I don't need to sit in a sauna or steam room all day. If you're looking for a day spa, this isn't the place for you. But if you want great services, friendly people and an even better price, this is the place! I asked for a 1 hour massage and it actually came out to be nearly an hour and a half. The woman was very strong. I felt relaxed and de-stressed. The acne facial was excellent. My skin felt so soft and clean afterwards. The aesthetician did an amazing job on the extraction. The mask and cleansing was so soothing, and I even fell asleep. I was recommended by my girlfriend to see Yen here 2 weeks before my wedding. My face was breaking out severely with all the stresses that I had over the wedding planing and work schedule. She was great helping me with the last minute fix-up for my face and my back, and I return to normal by the time I needed myself to be looking good. I have gone there ever since and it has been 3 months by now. I bought the package and have been going every 2 weeks. Yen has been very consistent and thorough, and she informs me of any change each facial. (mask change, equipment change, etc.) The best part is that she could always tell if I didn't sleep well the night before or I was stressed by massage. Some spas or facial clinics might push for the products, but Yen doesn't. The only time I bought the product was because I specifically asked her for it. I started coming to this place and getting my facial treatments from Yin (she's the owner) since last year and never once have I had a bad experience. The new location is great..plenty of parking and just a few minutes from the Arcadia Gold Line Station if you decide to just hop on the train. This place sucks. After reading some great reviews on yelp and being Arcadia, I scheduled a facial with them. They used too much lotion on my face and my arms that left me feeling more unclean after the facial. When I got home I washed my face and couldn't wait to get in the shower. They were also being pushy about selling their lotions and cleansers. Also they were hasty in wanting me to come in the next time. They were pushing the membership package as well. I had a facial for $60, took a little over an hour and a half. It was exactly what I was looking for. The facility is clean and a very good value. This is not a day spa. I was immediately shown to a room, given comfortable gown to change into and told to lay on the massage type table/chair. I was given a blanket, and was often asked if I was warm enough or if I needed extra blankets. She was very thorough and took her time going over all my pores. They take people on Sunday by appointment only, so it was very quiet. The massage was significant. They have a new location at 145 Duarte Rd., so it is right next to the Magic Hands Spa. I agree that a lot of lotion was used during the massage, but she was very careful to clean all of the lotion off with a nice hot towel, so I didn't feel too lotiony at all when I left.
