It's American-styled Mexican food. I give it two stars bcuz the service was fast, waiter was polite, food okay. Menu is limited I think bcuz the food is Americanized. If you want authentic Mexican food in this area, I would recommend El Kiosco or Mi Ronconcito in Grovetown instead. They have lengua, menudo and all. You just have to ask for it. This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. They def have the best pricing and food in Augusta. Lately their service has been going downhill but I still continued to go because it was my favorite. I went and we sat in a booth in the middle of the restaurant. We were eating queso while waiting for our food and my fiancé pointed out a roach that crawled out of the crack of the wall. It went back in then came back out and crawled over to the next booth and crawled back to the crack. Our waiter then came with our food when we told him what happened . He said "ok " and never came back. He served a table next to us and did not even say anything more to us And roach was just walking along the booth so we walked out. I was not impressed by the food and the service was nothing special. The food lacked flavor and the steak meat was very cheap tasting. Honestly you get what you pay for here. I'm only giving 3 stars because it's fast Americanized Mexican food, but you can't beat this place for value and service. I've been eating at Veracruz on Peach Orchard Rd since I was about 6 or 7 years old, I now have a 2 year old daughter and we're still going back. If you go on a Thursday or Friday night, you're guaranteed a wait despite the size of the building, because it is just that popular. The food is fresh, the chips and salsa are made in house, their tamales are the best in town in my opinion, and their shrimp quesadillas are really good with the guacamole salad that's served alongside. Friday they have live music, they have great drink specials, all of the waiters are really personable, and the manager Jesus is seriously one of the best restaurateurs in the area when it comes to customer service. They do have some vegetarian options on the menu, but I am sad to say that their mushroom quesadillas are very watery/oily. Restrooms are a little on the dark side, but always clean enough that you're not terrified of the dim lighting. Full bar with several televisions, though they're usually on Telemundo or soccer, which is great for people like me who enjoy soccer and speak Spanish ;) Long story short, you get what you pay for as far as the food, it's inexpensive but tasty. And as for the service, you get way more than what you pay for. Give it a try if you've never been, you just might be surprised. read more

Love this place. Great cheap drinks and food is super fast! The food is very similar in tastes from one meal to the next but still tasty. There was some white cheese and finely ground hamburger meat on a bed of tortilla chips. They looked sad and droopy, and tasted worse. The food was decent but it took us almost an hour to get it. We were seated immediately but the waitress didn't come to our table for 17 minutes. I lived in the Bay Area California and the Mexican food here is miles apart from what the have on the west coast. Food is a five; service is a three. Plus it takes a long time for food to come out, even when it's not too busy. Every time we go the special is pork chops, which makes me think that is always the special. And be warned: they charge a surcharge if you are not paying cash. That's kind of annoying. I went an picked up an order Wednesday night and paid with my debit card, Thursday I noticed they had charged me twice. I called they said bring the receipt and statement and we'll refund you. I go up there with the statement and receipt they said oh we didn't charge you the bank did. I said it wasn't the bank and I want my refund! The manager asked me to go check with my bank and if they say its two charges they'll refund me. Bank was close by so I went, they said its 2 charges. I go back and now maybe 10 mins later they claim the manager is gone and nobody can refund me?! I yelled and cursed and demanded my refund, they called the cops and some card lady, the cops of course made me out as the aggressor and said I could be charged with disorderly conduct!?? WOW!! I was mad. The card lady verifies it was IN FACT 2 charges, same amount, same day, not one person apologized, and guess who walked outside as if they were just being filled in??? THE MANAGER, the manager they CLAIMED WAS GONE!!! They refund me and the officer has the AUDACITY to ask them if they want to ban me from the restaurant!!
