The injera was dry and crispy in some places of the bread and unusually sour and I would dare to say stale. Maybe it was left out too long. The injera makes the meal for me so I was highly disappointed. Also, the amount of food was lesser than other Ethiopian restaurants. However, the restaurant is very elegant. The service was very professional. There's a 90% chance that I won't visit again only due to the injera mess up. read more

Went to Vera's Kitchen for the first time on 02/17/2020 with my daughter. The food and service were exceptional. Everything from the tea to the entree's were very tasty and well prepared. I've been here many times, and have always had a good experience. An adequate sized place with nice decor. There is one television on, usually playing sports but on mute with closed captioning. There is instrumental music in the background on low. A family owned business that is very friendly with great service. I prefer the Ethiopian dishes but everything has been good. The ginger boost tea is wonderful. Water has cucumber flavor, nice. A great place for Manassas. Enjoy! read more

Loved it!!!! We've never had Ethiopian food before and now know what we were missing. The owner gave us menus and when we told him we hadn't eaten Ethiopian food before, he took our menus and said he would bring a little of everything. And he did. We started off our experience with cucumber mint and lemon flavored water and iced tea that had a chai flavor both of which were an enjoyable twist on the mundane. We ordered the Beyanatu and Vera's Tibs which were a complete hit with my 10 year old who isn't a fan of overly spicy food but enjoys flavorful food. Visiting Manassas for the day and decided to visit and was very glad I did. Food and service was excellent! Got the ribs and it was amazing.

We had a great meal here tonight and were very warmly welcomed. We sampled quite a bit of the dishes. To begin, the cream of potato soup which was perfectly seasoned followed by mozzarella martini which is similar to caprese salad; fresh, light, and flavorful. I ordered Vera's Tibs, which were beef tips that were seared and served on a sizzling skillet with onions and tomatoes. At the owner's recommendation I had injera with it which is an Ethiopian flatbread made from an ancient grain that is gluten free. It was so good, almost like a crêpe but quite a bit more savory. The way to eat it is with your hands - rip off a piece and roll it up with meat and vegetables. Best thing I've had to eat in a while. For dessert - tiramisu and cheesecake to share. It was all made from scratch with careful detail and so delicious. I'm glad Vera's is here and am now going to add Ethiopian food to my list of favorites. Will be back. read more

Doesn't look like much when you walk past their door, but it is definitely worth the visit. The moment you walk in your are instantly transported to a elegant and cultural dining area. The owners are completely charming people. But that's not all. They have the magic touch when it comes to their cuisine. Literally. The way they spice there food is absolutely amazing. Not only is food good, they also have a wide variety.Never will you find a better family owned restaurant that is fast and delicious. I have only been here once, so that has to say something. I absolutely believe that this place has something special. From the nice people to scrumptious food, I believe this is the place to beat. If I could give this place 5 more stars, I would. We had a wonderful date night last night and met a lovely couple who run this great little spot... we had vegan meal in beautiful surroundings with soft jazz in the back ground... we could not believe we were nearly only patrons...please support this business Manassas ... they have offerings for both American (sandwiches, pasta) and Ethiopian tastes (hummus with a twist and vegetarian combo - mushroom was my favorite on traditional bread) ... we tried the ginger tea and it was so special ... a must have! Asked SIRI for the best restaurant in Manassas and it recommended Vera's Kitchen. I thought it was a southern cuisine and was pleasantly surprised that it was Ethiopian. The atmosphere was nice and the food was great. I have found that Ethiopian restaurants can be a tad expensive and this one was moderately so when it came to the Ethiopian dishes (selection was fairly limited also), but I could not have been happier with the quality. I look forward to returning and to an expanded menu. read more

What a delicious surprise! We were seated at a beautiful hammered copper table. We didn't even open the menu. We just asked for an authentic Ethiopian meal. We were rewarded with a fantastic appetizer, a wonderful array of vegetarian choices (served on a bed of bread that made for a great finish to the meal), and moist cooked beef in a savory sauce that was very flavorful. We had hot spices on the side that the guys enjoyed, but I thought it had plenty of good flavor without the heat. One person in our party finished his meal with an Ethiopian pan roasted coffee which he said was smooth and some of the best coffee he's ever tasted. My one regret is that I didn't have room for Vera's Brownies. If you've never had Ethiopian fare, your missing out. Get yourself to Vera's Kitchen, where they'll take great care of you. read more

We had a wonderful Ethiopian platter on the traditional injera. It was a huge platter about 14 inches in diameter with perhaps 8 to 10 samplings of items. This item you have to ask for! It was not on the menu! One of us that knew Ethiopian food mentioned he was expecting to see this very thing but it seemed it was not offered. This needs to be listed on the menu! Vera's kitchen is a hidden gem in Manassas. I've been at this restaurant twice and had a fantastic experience both times. The place is extremely clean, very reasonable, has a great spread for vegans, vegetarians and non. Everything is made organic & fresh from the scratch and absolutely delicious.
