We came here about a year ago for a birthday and it was great but it was kinda frantic (our group being big). Came back a few days ago with a much more intimate group and we were able to try a bunch of the apps and entrees. Food is freaking incredible, service was spot on, really chill vibe too. The mole platter was great, the enchiladas were incredible, even my toddlers quesadilla was amazing! Everything was great but I gotta say that the filet mignon tacos were probably one of the best plates of food I've had anywhere ever. TL;DR: Another great restaurant concept from the Perry's Restaurant Group! Food and drinks 5/5, Service 100/5! I am such a fan of Perry's Restaurant Group and was so excited to see that they were opening a new concept. Verdad is located at The Grove directly across from Carve - Central Austin. There's free parking in three garages, street parking, and valet parking for $8. The Grove is in the midst of being built so it wasn't too hectic navigating through the complex. That will probably change as more businesses move in. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the hostesses. The decor immediately grabbed my attention. It was so unique and colorful! The kitchen is open. The restaurant has multiple dining areas, a couple of private dining rooms, and a large patio that wraps around the front and side of the building. My one complaint is that it was extremely loud. It was hard to hear the server when he was going through the menu. The entire staff was super friendly! Our server Caleb was so nice! The assistant manager Trevor also came by our table during our meal and he was very friendly! Drinks: My mom and I had the Margaritas Al Centro which contain sorbet. My mom had watermelon while I had cucumber mint. I had a sip of the the watermelon and it was good. The cucumber mint was very refreshing! My stepdad had a blueberry iced tea and enjoyed it. Midway through the meal, he ordered a Coke, but unfortunately it was brought out after he was done eating. They were very busy, but that is something that could be improved. On the other hand, water glasses were always kept full. They left a pitcher of water on the table for us, but Caleb as well as other servers would fill our glasses before we even noticed that they were empty. Apps: The guacamole was very good! The bowl doesn't come with a lot of chips, but the staff was good about bringing out a fresh bowl of hot chips whenever we needed a refill. Entrees and sides: My parents had the Chicken Enchiladas and the Seared Scallops with Caviar. The presentation of the scallops was beautiful! My stepdad ordered beans and rice with his meal. They both enjoyed their meals. I had the 8 oz. Oaxacan filet. I prefer medium well, but am always worried it will be over cooked. Caleb said I could order it medium plus which is in between medium and medium well. I've never heard of this, but I tried it and man it was good and very tender! The molé and corn that accompanied the steak was so good! We also enjoyed the Caramelized Brussels. The sides are meant for two people to share and the portion was generous. Dessert: My mom ordered the Sorbete Trio. I believe the flavors she had were strawberry, pineapple, and blueberry. I tasted them and thought they were all good. Caleb knew I was celebrating my birthday so he went through the desserts and let me know which ones I could order on the house. I really wanted churros even though they weren't one of the comped ones so I ordered those and added the Verdad Burnt Milk Candy. The Mini Churros were good and I really liked the caramel sauce! The Milk Candy was good, but very rich. The whipped cream helped to cut the sweetness a little bit. The candle was a nice touch and I was happy the staff did not sing to me lol. Trevor brought out a birthday card from the staff. So nice of them to do that! According to our server, the owner unveils all new restaurant concepts in Austin. Rumor has it they may expand Carve and eventually Verdad to Dallas and Houston. I asked for Carve to branch out to Houston in my review of the Barton Creek location two years ago. I go to verdad once a week because I love their happy hour. When available, I always request Terrance for his incredible service. I bring every single group of friends from out of town here when I know he is working. He is the best server in all of Austin Texas. Tonight he didn't happen to be working, and I brought in a group of 9 for a very special birthday dinner. Everything was great, but our server(NOT TERRANCE), seemed easily bothered on multiple occasions. I could name multiple other examples, but I don't feel it's necessary. Really missed the service that Terrance often provides and wish that everyone else could be trained to his level. It changed the entire dinner experience which was a little embarrassing after hyping up this spot to have that experience.... Aside from that, we had a great time! This is an upscale, modern Mexican restaurant and perfect to enjoy on occasion because the price point is a bit high. The vibe is fun and trendy and everyone we encountered that worked there was very friendly. We were seated in the bar area for happy hour and were catching up with friends in town so we were there for a while and the server was so attentive and patient with us. My boyfriend's parents were in town and wanted to find a good Mexican spot, so we ended up booking Verdad. Neither me nor my boyfriend had ever been to Verdad, but I saw that they had done a Yelp Elite event not too long ago with great reviews, so we booked it! Parking: we found free 2-hour parking right in front of the restaurant. Our reservation was at 8pm, and there were several spots available. Not sure where the other parking is for the restaurant, but I am sure there is a lot somewhere else! Space: the decor is immaculate! Seriously beautiful inside. It is also way bigger than you think when you walk in. We were seated in one big room, and as we ate the meal/found the bathrooms, we discovered more large rooms. Food: absolute delicious! We ended up ordering a mixed platter for 4 people, as well as the lobster quesadilla, and everything was really yummy. No complaints whatsoever! Drinks: for margarita lovers, you'll have plenty of options! If you don't like margaritas, there is an extensive wine list. Special mention: Zayra was our server, and she was amazing!! The Good: The service was great. Our server was on top of everything and provided some great recommendations. I also enjoyed the ambiance. It was cool (at least by Texas standards) so we were able to sit outside on the patio. We shared the Guacamole, The Queso Fundido, and the Lobster Quesadillas. All were good. The Bad (imo): For HH, they have $2 off cocktails and starters. However, most cocktails cost a minimum of $15 and most of the starters range from $15-30, so I wouldn't say their pricing is anything special in my opinion. The Ugly: There were a few things that weren't up to par. First, I discovered a hair in my water cup and the small plate hadn't been washed properly. The server was very apologetic and provided new ones. Unfortunately, later on, we found another hair in the Queso Fundido. Since it was towards the end of our outing, we didn't mention it. As we were closing out, my friend went to use the restroom, and when we returned she said that out of the blue she started to feel faint as she walked to the restroom. Inside, she said she got sick. To be honest, I don't know if the substandard level of cleanliness was related to her sudden onset of ill symptoms but at least it was a big coincidence. I probably wouldn't go back but if you do decide to go, make sure to inspect your utensils and food closely. read more

Love the decor! The staff are the friendliest and so helpful to their guest and to each other. Our waiter, Brady made our night very enjoyable. He had the most welcoming smile, and I could easily tell that he loved his job. I have to give him props for how much work he did because we ordered so much stuff just to try!! Myles was the floor manager. He visited our table many times to check to make sure everything was perfect. I was very impressed on how much he could remember about the ingredients in each dish! Speaking of dishes, let me begin. You can't come here without trying the Mole flight. Each has a completely different and unique flavor. Next we had the homemade guac! How does one start a review for a new spot in Roseland that's offering a great Happy Hour every day from 4-7? ;) Well let me start with the interior it is beautiful inside. I went to the bar because of their happy hour and sat to be met by both Ricky and Ashley. These two were amazing and helped us navigate details about the menu, their happy hour, popular drinks and such. I must say they were some of the most professional staff I've ever met. I followed the advice getting the El Tamarindo and it was delicious and I can see why it's their most popular. The mole and salsa tastings are a must have. If you are skittish on mole just do it - it's just like more dipping salsas and the flavors are from a rich pineapple raisin to a sweet tamarind. I personally leaned on the burnt orange and tamarind moles. Note: they'll get more chips as you run low. The Verdad Fiesta board is a fajita assortment for two was a massive portion of food and could easily be shared with a third person. It had ribs, shrimp, scallops, lobster tails, chicken, and steak. The flour and corn tortillas were awesome and the corn tortillas didn't have the instant fall apart in your hand's dilemma so many do. The meal was delicious and considering I waved the flag and boxed up the fiesta board I had to splurge on dessert. The trio is a key lime, seis leches, and burnt candy dish easy to share. I saw chocolate so the soufflé with chocolate chili ganache was also ordered. Dessert winner? Seis Leches every day! I'd second the key lime, then the choco souflle, and the burnt candy albeit good is too sweet for me. This place will be a regular stomping ground now and I should note this is modern Mexican as denoted by the name of the establishment so expect something new! We had a wonderful work dinner at Verdad recently and the entire experience was seamless and memorable. We were able to reserve a large semi-private table and service and food were exceptional from start to finish. The restaurant is new and gorgeous. Very modern feel with some industrial touches and just a great vibe. Our server was so attentive and actively asked for our feedback on the food & drinks. Highlights queso fundido with fresh chips hamachi ceviche was beautiful and fresh tasting chargrilled octopus was so tender and prepared perfectly filet mignon tacos surf and turf fajitas were a huge hit Lowlights crispy fritters were soggy and didn't have a lot of favor corn souffle cake was mediocre We tried a variety of menu items besides those mentioned above and almost everything was delicious. Finally had time to check out this New Mexican spot in North Central Austin and while we didn't love the food, the atmosphere and wait staff were great, hince the 4 stars. For food alone, I'd rate it a 3/5. Large portions, however each thing we had was just alright. The fajitas were bland. They were cooked a great medium rare/medium, but just didn't have any of that nice crispy caramelization you get many other places in town. Next time we will try the Queso Fundito, as that will hopefully be better. The Texas queso was just your standard melted orange cheese, nothing to write home or get overly excited about. We ordered through uber eats in new year's eve. Verdad is part of the perry restaurant chain. I really enjoyed the fresh tortilla that came with some of the entrees. I was able to try a lot of the menu - pinto bean hummus, guacamole, hamachi ceviche, watermelon salad, filet mignon tacos, salmon segueza, Shrimp & Corn Blini with Huitlacoche and the dessert trio - Seis Leches Cake /Verdad Burnt Milk Candy and Churro with Caramel Sauce. For drinks I also tried the pineapple margarita, el tamarindo and the Mexican hot cocoa. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has a huge roof top as well! The service was great as well, constantly refilling water and chip refills or anything else you might need. My personal favorites were the pinto bean hummus - comes with pomegranates on top and plantain chips (so dang good) the Guacamole is also a huge serving and delicious as well! The hamachi ceviche is INCREDIBLE - I could live in that sauce - sweet and a lil spicy but the best possible flavors honestly - the fish was even rolled up into a rose / flower shape (stunning presentation) - just get it! Watermelon salad is super refreshing and flavorful as well - perfect for hot summers!! My top entrees were the filet mignon tacos and the salmon segueza - truly top tier flavors and cuts of protein!! The filet mignon tacos have the best flavor, but also amazing texture - perfectly cooked and easy to eat! The tortilla....come on! They make their own tortillas in house with blue and white corn - so dang good!!! And they don't fall apart!! I personally drenched my taco with the ~~charred~~ lime and tortilla is intact the whole time! By far the cutest restaurant in all of Austin. The interior design of this place is out of this world but we are not here to talk about design we are here to talk about the food & service. I love a restaurant that has little icons next to their food item letting you know if it's dairy free or gluten free and so on. Because if you have any dietary restriction then you don't have to keep asking your serve if it contains certain ingredient. Our server was such a nice guy. He gave us a little intro about how they make their tortilla and it's all made in house. We were 4 girls and really wanted to try variety of items. We ordered the following: Verdad Guacamole - This was really good . The chips that comes with it are on the thicker side rather than what you would be used to. Texas Queso - this was a just a typical queso dish but it still was flavorful Chef's Chicken Enchiladas - this was my favorite dish. The sauce was so well made and i appreciate that the tortilla was GF. Garlic Shrimp Fideo - the shrimps were really good but the noodle that came under it wasn't all that good. 22 oz. Bone-In Cowboy Ribeye Vaquero - this was really well cooked and seared Cedar Plank Roasted Hamachi Verde - it was on the dryer side but the sauces that came with it added a lot of flavor. We also ordered the corn side which was good and the wild mushroom which was one of the best sides I have tried. For dessert we got the Seis Leches Cake HIGHLY recommend if you like Tres Leche it was moist and just heavenly and the Chocolate Chile Souffle which was really good specially when it was paired with side of Mexican vanilla ice cream. Verdad is truly one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. I've now had 3 experiences and each one has been a memorable one. First of all, the drinks are fantastic. The Margarita Al Centro are richly flavored with in house made sorbete (my favorite is the lime). I really enjoyed the The Reserve Mexicali and the Loco Carajillo. For starters I highly recommend the lobster quesadilla and the queso fundido with sausage added. My favorite entrees have been the filet mignon fajitas, the smoked steak chile rellenos, and the Oaxacan filet. And to end the meal, I highly recommend the table-side hot chocolate. We had such a fantastic experience at VERDAD. I am a big fan of Perry's and also like Carve alot, so I was intrigued but skeptical about the group's foray into Mexican. The photos looked incredible, so I was worried maybe it would be a fun vibe and atmosphere (a bit more style over substance like La Popular), but I could not have been more wrong. We were blown away by the food. Apparently, Senior Perry (he's earned it) spent quite a bit of time on this concept as he endeavored to make it authentic. From my understanding, the blue corn tortillas are sourced from corn in Mexico with techniques learned there. The highlight of my evening- the Oaxaca filet. Imagine a Perry's steak with a Mexican smokey flavor in a mole sauce. It really had that Wow factor for me. That dish is up there with my favorite ATX meals. The menu is huge and I'm looking foward to trying out so many more items on the menu. We also had pulpo app and some sides which all were great. Drinks were alot of fun and really good - big fan of the Aloe Ranch Water. Two other highlights to note: first, service was so attentive. Our server, Brendan - for a restaurant that opened 1 month ago: not only is he extremely friendly and charasmatic, but he knew his stuff! Second, decor - had this modern neutral pallate, great mustic. Also, I am a big fan of the Grove; it's like mini Domain but more focused on living with great ammenities (rather than vice versa) which should keep it a classy place. Perfect Dining Experience at this recently opened, upscale Mexican restaurant at the Grove in Central Austin. Incredibly inviting menu, lots of seafood and meat offerings, all plated well (see photos), served at the right temperature, and truly delicious. Adam, our server (see photo) was incredibly knowledgeable regarding the menu, accurately described each of the dishes we ordered, and did so in a manner that left my wife and me eagerly anticipating arrival of each offering. The service, beginning with Adam, was fantastic. Water glasses filled in a timely manner, dishes delivered and taken away in a non-intrusive manner, that had impeccable timing. The food? Wow, simply wow. Grilled oysters and zucchini octopus fritters to start. The oysters were nice size, covered in a tasty cheese, and had a tasty, not overpowering seasoning (sauce-like, but not really). The fritters could have been a bit firmer, but were still tasty, and the slaw with the fritters was superb. We ordered the bone in cowboy ribeye -- three cheers to the chef -- , with bone marrow canoes, and a grilled veggie variety (as a side order). Served with a trio of tasty pico, guacamole, and a smokey (yummy) spread with a slight kick. Yes please. Corn tortillas were the best tortillas, served hot, I have had in recent memory. Really. Good coffee too, bold and served hot. Should add that the margaritas to start were great too and my wife enjoyed her pinot noir. The restaurant is roomy and comfortable, good spacing between the tables, and has a very welcoming (separate) bar area, with some dining table seating too. Any complaints? Nope. Great venue. Great service (thanks Adam!). Truly fantastic food. Candidly, however, this is (on a busy Friday night) not a quiet, romantic venue (although perhaps sitting in a corner might reduce the noise level), nor was this an inexpensive meal. But, that was okay for the two of us, as the delicious food and great service justified the price in my opinion. Valet or garage parking make arrival and departure easy. I cannot describe how delicious they are, just do yourself a favor and try them ! We also had their lobster quesadilla and it was really good, super large serving as well we had half of it left over (two of us). This was a fun and vibrant evening out. There is wrap around outdoor dining and a large interior space that is clean and modern. As the evening progressed, the space is loud inside. Service was great with effective explanations of dishes, ingredients and the restaurant's approach. Our server read her table audience well. We started with hamachi sashimi and queso fundido, we had pork enchiladas, children enchiladas, cedar plank hamachi, the watermelon seasonal salad, yuca mash, Brussel sprouts , margaritas and Sauvignon Blanca. Anniversary dinner. We had reservations at 6 and were promptly seated. The restaurant was noticeably quiet with few patrons in view. We were seated in the dining area with a vantage of the cooking line. The décor and ambiance was pleasant with a refined touch under subdued lighting. Our initial impression was positive and we looked forward to nice dinner. Since it was our anniversary we indulged ourselves in cocktails. I had the signature house margarita ($16) and my wife had the avo-colada ($16). Even though I am adverse to the creeping cost increase of restaurant cocktails I must admit my margarita was well balanced and quite tasty. The avo-colada was a variation of a pina colada and my wife loved it. As an appetizer we ordered the Hamachi Ceviche ($23). The presentation of the dish was appealing, almost photogenic. Hamachi is an excellent choice for ceviche with its tender texture and mild almost buttery flavor. The serrano peppers contrasted nicely with the fish, the pineapple kambucha and orange. I was underwhelmed with the portion size for the price but enjoyed appetizer nonetheless. I probably would not order this again only because I prefer trying different dishes unless something totally wows me. This dish did not wow me. As an entrée my wife ordered the seafood enchiladas ($39) which was a seasonal special and I ordered the Roasted Hamachi Verde ($42). The seafood enchiladas included 3 enchiladas that were well proportioned with filling and made with homemade blue & white masa tortillas. I tasted the dish and thought the tortillas were thick and heavy and distracted from the the dish by overwhelming the flavor profile. Instead of tasting fish I only tasted undercooked masa. My plate was the Cedar Plank Roasted Hamachi Verde. I thought the fish was well cooked and presented well. It included black refried beans and a cilantro or green hued rice on a separate plate. First, the food was very good. I only deducted a star because any Mexican Food place that doesn't give you free chips and salsa cannot get 5 stars. That's a whole star by itself. So the food is good, it came out really quickly and was hot. The flavors were good and the spice level was in that range where if you're a hot food super fan, you're going to have to add some salsa. For everyone else it was in a nice range. The service was good. I'd recommend a reservation if you're going after about 6:30. I had the seafood enchiladas and my wife had the steak fajitas. Both very good. We started with the salsa sampler (chips and salsa) and the 3 salsas had good variety and were tasty. Free chip refills so all good to go there except the $6 charge up front. The seis leche cake desert was a real treat. We skipped the drinks to keep the price down but I bet their happy hour is a real winner. All in all a good place. Pricey for Mexican food for sure. A bit loud but the contemporary restaurants with open seating and a minimalist style get loud fast. It's not like we couldn't talk but if you're one of those folks that cannot pick out voices with a lot of background noise, you're going to be annoyed. We recently tried Verdad with a family member who was in town visiting and our first impression walking in was, "Wow, somebody has sunk A LOT of money into this space." First of all, it is ginormous--probably one of the largest restaurants that we have ever seen in Austin, and the vibe is more Miami than Texas, but we were digging it. Before we get into the food, which really varied in terms of quality, we do want to shout out the service team here because everybody was seriously awesome. Our server was a very polite young man who was on top of things for our table, and a manager even came over to check on things. We saw her hustling around the whole night, so this is not one of those places where you look up to see half of the staff on their phones. Kudos for that. The salsa is good, and we started with their queso, which was delicious. It had the perfect ooze-factor and you could tell that whatever stuff they were using for it was high quality. What we did not appreciate was that their $17 frozen margarita came out in a martini-like glass (that wasn't even full to the brim!) that was already pretty melty. Big disappointment at the start of a meal! The rocks margaritas are much better. We also want to shout out the crispy fritters, which were so fresh and fun. The combo of ingredients was unique and everything worked perfectly together. For mains, we had two hits and one major miss. The shrimp fajitas our daughter ordered were probably the best dish of the night. Considering they cost a pretty penny, we appreciated that they came out with a bunch of accompaniments and the half-flour-half corn tortillas were awesome. One of us got the vegan relleno and loved it; it had a banging sauce and the whole thing was full of so much flavor. The only thing that could have been better is to have the sunflower seeds be less crunchy (it's surprising they weren't softer if they were cooking in with the other ingredients). The worst dish of the night was the shrimp fideo. It was a bowl of undercooked pasta (toasted? more like scorched) swimming in a very bland broth with some plain shrimp on top. It had to be the case that something went wrong there because we don't understand how that dish could be executed by the same kitchen that put out all the other excellent plates on our table. We were waffling between three and four stars for this place, but considering that we were treated to dinner, we're going to land on four (but FTR it would have been three had this been our own $). At the end of the day, we liked most of what we had, we got great service, and despite the fact that it felt like this restaurant should have been in Miami, we have to say that the vibe and atmosphere was pleasant and friendly. Will we be back again soon? Probably not, BUT we can see ourselves coming back at some point. read more

Met a friend for drinks and sat on their lovely patio with a fire pit. The noise inside was a bit loud so we chose this quieter area so we could talk. The bartender was very accommodating and made excellent Mezcal cocktails. I can't wait to come back and try their food. It looks delicious. read more

What a gem! we dined here for the first time last night and had an incredible dinner. It's not cheap, but absolutely worth it. Four of us out bill was $315 which included six cocktails. Brinkley was our server and did a great job. She started off with a menu tour and some great suggestions. We loved everything we ordered: Texas Queso, Salsa Tasting, Filet fajitas for 2 + Lobster Quesadilla, Bacon Wrapped Scallops and a chocolate dessert. So excited for this!! read more

We went here for our anniversary. Wow so impressed that they made a heart of rose pedals on our table and all wished us a happy anniversary.! The food was delicious and service outstanding! We had our guacamole, tacos and the enchilada special. Everything was delicious! They even brought us a surprise sweet treat for desert. So good! Will definitely return! read more

Loved the atmosphere in here! Went with a group and the service was solid! We ordered quite a bit of things, unfortunately only grabbed pictures of these two items. The one item that caused the review to drop a bit was their ceviche. I absolutely LOVE ceviche, but there's had a very fishy aftertaste, which I was not a fan of. Outside of that, all the other dishes were excellent. The fiesta board is a perfect portion for 3-4 people to share and it comes with a little bit of everything. read more

Have been looking forward to trying Verdad out. The service and ambience were great. The food was just meh, especially for the price. We started with margaritas, ceviche, and a salad. My signature margarita on the rocks was great, but my husband's frozen margarita came in a coupe glass, which made it difficult to drink (and felt like a tiny portion.) The ceviche needed salt, acid, and heat. My entree scallops were great however my husband's chile relleno was sauced with red sauce that tasted like marinara. The side of carrots we shared was also good. So, pretty hit or miss. Wished the food had been more consistently good. Probably won't return. read more

It's hard to gauge what an average meal will be like here because I came for a Yelp event and they really rolled out the red carpet for us. Of course the servers were on top of everything and they took the time to make sure our needs were constantly met. The food was all good, I don't think there's really anything in there Arsenal that I didn't enjoy. We had Mexican hot chocolate, which stands out in my mind but honestly, I would eat anything there. Tortillas or something special, the chef gave us a whole rundown on how they were made and why he'll never buy H-E-B tortillas again. Finally tried Verdad for my birthday. Love the decor -how refreshing to go a creative direction instead of the tired, predictable farmhouse/boxwoods/black and white and gray scheme. This place is colorful in a classy way. The service: Brendan, our server, was superb. He anticipated our needs and would slide by and quietly deliver fresh drinks. His attention to all our courses was great, and he cheerfully went to the chef several times to ensure my husband's food allergies were taken in account. All of this with a smile. The food: The mole trio appetizer was good, especially the tamarind one. The thin-sliced plantains were perfection. The bean hummus was very good. My husband kept raving about it. Entrees: How refreshing to see Veggie Fajitas that are actually veggies and not just the usual peppers and onions. They were yummy. The vegan relleno could stand to be more flavorful/better seasoned. It was bland, but I was having such a good experience overall, I just added salt and pepper (which I never do). The corn soufflé cake was delicious, although the texture could be creamier...but really it was delectable. For dessert they sent a house-made caramel candy bites (they are call Candy in the menu) and they were incredible. So good. Got treated to excelled food and presentation which was very much organized. Easy to register and get name tags and find a seat, everyone was very friendly as I didn't know anyone. They started on time and brought apps which were the GUAC and hummus, they both came with chips but one was with the banana chips which was something different. GUAC was right texture and soft, hummus was also not too thick. Also the plates were royal and want them for my house. The drinks we had pineapple margarita which was my style as it was smooth and not too strong. The el tamarido was very strong for me but not to others, nicely presented but too Smokey for me. Everyone else finished so it's just a me thing and I preferred the margarita. Main dish the salmon was perfectly cooked with the right texture. And the sauce made it even better. The taco was my favorite, the chef explained how the tortillas are made straight from Mexico with blue and yellow corn and mushed to a strong texture unlike other tacos. That was my my favorite and wanted more. Shrimp was nice and light too. Dessert all was good and any dessert is my favorite, I would literally get all three of these every time but the candy was my favorite as it was something other than the basic churros and seis leches. Service was on point as they explained and showed how it was made with the history and very social chef and manager came around to introduce themselves and reshare as our table was far so they were courteous. Something this big can go wrong but they were all on time, kept things moving, and the people were great. I hope to sit with that table again read more

What a fantastic experience. The ambience in this place is wonderful whether you sit in their main dining room or off near their bar. There seems to be an energy and vibe for everybody here from an intimate date to a celebration or a family event. Our server was beyond incredible and so was everybody else who tended to us throughout the evening honestly we did not encounter one person who was not above and beyond attentive. As far as the food goes this place was amazing we got their large fajita or fiesta plate. There was four of us and there was more than enough food. We had some leftover and definitely made use of them the following day. We also had the guacamole appetizer which was wonderful as well as churros and tres leches cake for dessert. Honestly do not have a single complaint this place was wonderful and look forward to returning upon my next visit to Texas. read more

Verdad is the sister restaurant to Carve; they are owned by the same company and both have a location at The Grove. The layout is even the same for both restaurants, although the decor is different. If you like one of these restaurants, you will probably like the other. | Drinks | There are a variety of flavors of margaritas to choose from that are shaken with sorbet, which makes them nicely chilled without ice cubes. I went with the Tamarind Ginger which was delicious and a little less sweet than some of the other choices. (I prefer tart to sweet). | Food | We ordered the grilled octopus with Guajillo glaze as an appetizer, and the chicken enchiladas as our entree. The octopus was perfectly tender and the glaze sauce added some mild heat and flavor. They came with "blue and white" corn tortillas, a fun twist on an old standard. The chicken enchiladas were very flavorful and a bit zesty. They felt more authentic than the tex-mex versions at other places. read more
