Romaine lettuce, corn, plum tomatoes, bacon, pickled jalapeños, with a BBQ vinaigrette. I added black beans. You can ad about 50 other items of choice. Super good. The salads here are always super fresh and taste amazing. The prices aren't that bad too because the portions are really big. The soup is also really cheap if you get a wrap or a salad with it. I'm a vegan. When I first moved to Charleston I really liked the concept of Verde. To be able to get fresh salad and veggies is awesome. But the last 7 or 8 times I've ordered from them have been horrific! Sometimes I order a soup with my salad but I order the large one for $6.95. But when my order arrives, it's usually the small side soup for $3.95 instead of the large-- but of course my receipt shows that I paid for the large. Or, the lettuce and roasted broccoli in my salad will be wet, soggy and wilted. Sometimes they don't even put the soup in the bag. It has gotten to the point where I go for months before ordering from Verde again because they ALWAYS get my order wrong. Today I ordered their vegan lentil soup. It clearly says "vegan lentil soup" on the receipt. But I get it and start eating it, and notice big pieces of chicken in the soup. So now I'm feeling nauseous because I haven't eaten chicken in over 25 years! This is unacceptable. I'm not a litigious person, but Verde has me feeling like suing! read more

They need to hire more employees. 3 employees cannot handle the volume this store sees at lunch. The last three times I have visited it has taken over 30 minutes to get a salad made. Please fix your online ordering system. When you order online, show up 30/45 minutes later you still have to wait in the long line to have your salad made. It defeats the purpose of ordering ahead. After a long weekend of drinks and carbs my body was craving a salad. This was my first time at verde and I can definitely see myself coming back. The shop was very clean and tidy. Wasn't crowded as it was around 7pm on a week night. The worker explained the menu to us and recommended some of his favorites. Went with the mesa verde and the king Cobb salad. Both are totally different but very good! The mesa verde was lighter and refreshing while the king Cobb was heavier and more comforting. Both salads were large!! The only thing I wish I did, and I'll do next time, is get the dressing on the side! The salad was so large that I didn't finish it and took the rest home but I'm not sure if it will be good the next day since it has dressing on it. Okay I don't even know where to start! The concept of this restaurant is totally made for me! This is the "Chipotle" of the salads/wraps world! You can either make your own or you can choose one of the 12 premade selections! Mom chose the lentil beet salad and I had the buffalo cauliflower salad. Both of them were absolutely fantastic! Starting with fresh lettuce, spinach, and kale set the stage for a great salad. The buffalo cauliflower was the perfect spice and combination with the shredded chicken! The lentil salad had very bold flavors including: beets, chickpeas, lentils, avocado, and sunflower seeds. WOW! It was such an amazing combination. Then you choose if you want the salad tossed or chopped. We both did chopped which made it a very nice blend of each topping! I hate it when you have a salad and there's 10 pieces of a topping and then 98% lettuce. This is not the case at all at Verde. Each topping was generous! We absolutely loved it! read more

Original review: After going to Verde Mt Pleasant dozens of times, we stopped by Verde King Street on our way to the airport. When I opened my 'order ahead online' salad on the plane.. I was surprised to find a bowl of lettuce with a half avocado (not sliced or chopped) and beets. Things my salad was supposed to have that it did not: strawberries (paid extra $), bread (paid for extra), cucumbers, power seeds.. and it wasn't chopped. A 5 hour plane ride with what was supposed to be a filling salad turned out to be a hungry plane ride with a bowl of lettuce & dressing. I even checked the receipt and order to make sure it was correct.. it was, they just missed over half the ingredients. But it was ready on time, hence the 1 star. read more

Great lunch today. Got the Buddha bowl and really enjoyed the textures and flavors. Plenty of choices and customization of the way. Boylens soda and kombucha brewed locally are great options here. This brand has figured it out in my view. They're not cheap but I didn't feel taken advantage of. The food quality is great and the whole menu has a "health halo" association that's right on trend. I especially appreciate that every disposable item in the store is compostable. I went here for the first time on Cinco de Mayo. They had a deal for a $5 Mesa Verde salad. I got one for lunch. It was delicious!! They weren't busy despite the deal and all the workers were nice and attentive. They had came sugar soda options which I thought was cool as well. They were also giving away buttons with avocados on them. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that on my second salad for my coworker (which I paid full price for) they forgot both the chicken and the avocado. I've been going to verde from time to time for about as long as I've lived in Charleston. The salads have always been fresh and filling. In general it was just a stop to eat something healthyish when I needed something in a hurry. I decided to give it another try for their 10th anniversary special and I have to say the Cobb salad with the agave mustard dressing that I had today was fantastic! You walk in and can either choose one of their signature salads, or build your own as you move down the line (think Moe's or Subway). Last steps are choosing your dressing, whether you want it wrapped, tossed or chopped and whether you want bread with your greens. Coming from California, it's refreshing to see that these places exist here too. Yea, the salad could be quite expensive if you decide to build your own. My suggestion? Get a ready put together salad. I got a special mexican type chicken salad with a lime based dressing.... it was delicious and healthy! The salad is larger than most that you get from a grocery store. It was light and refreshing. My bill was $9.95 after tax. Verde, Charleston, SC Although I've seen some positive references to Verde, the new build-you-own salad place on King Street, I have to admit that I don't know what all the excitement is about. One of three bright green doors on King Street (all, by the way almost next to each other), provides your entry to Verde. You'll have to look carefully though, as their logo is easy to miss. Although we arrived at 12:30, usually a peak lunch period, there were only four tables of two seated in the restaurant. "Not a good sign," I thought. We proceeded toward what appeared to be the work area to see how "this works". In doing so we walked through the dining room which is incredibly stark. Some might say uncluttered, but there was no décor and besides a few hints at their concept "green", not much else. There is a running collage of the word "green" in different languages above the work area, but that's about it. So if you're going to Verde for atmosphere, you may want to keep walking. I can say that the staff is incredibly friendly and spent time with us explaining our options. You have a choice of four lettuce bases, 41 ingredients (you get to choose 4 before there is a $.50 charge per) and you can upgrade to add Roasted Shrimp and Turkey for $1.95 and Roasted Chicken for $2.25. There are also 13 homemade dressings that you can select from. I quickly moved through the line, selecting my items. Carrots, Mandarin oranges, crunchy noodles and crumbled bleu cheese handily made it into my salad. And although I thought a 1/2 cup of chicken was expensive at $2.25, I needed some protein to round off my selection. My husband chose the BLT Wrap that included Arugula, Romaine, Bacon, Grape Tomatoes, Croutons and Classic Buttermilk Dressing. We additionally chose a bottle of water and I picked a diet root beer (self serve) that was made with pure can sugar. Part of Verde's philosophy is that "Wholesome Food and Fast Food don't have to be mutually exclusive. Verde is for the "Health-Conscious and Taste-Conscious Alike." Well, with our experience, yes and no. At over $24.00 for the two of us for lunch, and considering that the wrap was $6.95, I had a bit of sticker shock. I thought that this was bit expensive for what we were served. My husband thought his wrap was a good buy at $6.95 and found it to be very tasty. My salad at over $10.00 was definitely not worth it. Don't get me wrong the lettuce was very fresh, the homemade dressing, delightful, but the overall salad itself was lacking. The piece of complimentary bread served with the salad was dry, as was the chicken. The ingredients were sparse, and it was much like an Easter Egg hunt to find them. The diet root beer was the star of my lunch (which is sad, considering I was at a place that exclusively sold salads), and the overall effort for lunch was just not worth it. So while others may write, "I love, love, love this place." I won't be joining in on that mantra any time soon. read more

At Verde, the options are endless. You choose your base (greens), add your toppings, cheese, and a protein, choose a dressing and get it chopped, mixed, or in a wrap. They also have "Signature Creations" in case you need help deciding. I opted for a mixed salad with romaine and added chicken, black beans, chickpeas, shredded carrots, beets, mandarin oranges, and goat cheese with a fat-free raspberry vinaigrette. It was shaken and put in a nice deep bowl. The convenience factor and the amount of toppings you can choose from is awesome. Ideally I'd top it with one of everything, but I'd need four bowls! The only downfall that I've noticed on both my visits to Verde is that they skimp on the protein like whoa. :( My muscles wanted more chicken! But the interior really makes me smile. I found this place just to be okay. I ordered a build your own salad, which was mostly just lettuce. I felt the four toppings I chose were barely in the salad at all. They only put a small amount of each thing. There was nearly not enough *in* the salad for me to be paying what they charge. The shrimp I added was cooked nicely and the dressing tasted fresh. I have been a long time Verde customer, but I usually order through their delivery service but was unable to today, so I left my desk and went to get it. I am so glad that I did! When I arrived to pick up the salads for my coworker and I, they were not yet ready even though it was passed the time listed to pick them up. No worries! I saw that they had many customers and only 3 people. Having worked in food service many times over the years, I understand the lunch rush! I was perfectly happy to wait while they worked through their line and tickets. While waiting I was watching the 3 young ladies make the salads. One girl had her hair pulled back into a bun, one had very long braids all pulled back in to one larger braid at her back. The third young lady had long braids also, except hers were not pulled back away from her face and kept coming over her shoulders. I watched her push her hair back so that the braids would be at her back without removing her gloves. Okay, I personally would not want to touch my hair with food covered gloves but, not my hair, not my concern. Well, she made her hair my concern when she DID NOT REMOVE HER GLOVES AND STARTED TOUCHING THE FOOD!!!!! I watched her push her hair back 3 times (Verde, check your cameras, I am sure that it was more than 3 5/17/ at 12:10ish) with her gloves on and return to making salads, and as luck would have it, she was making the salads that I was there to pick up. I politely asked the cashier for a refund and quietly explained why I was asking, assuming that after this the girl would be asked to change her gloves, I would get a refund, and be on my merry way. I stood nearby waiting to hear that my refund was processed and watched as she threw a mini tantrum throwing the food away and proceeded to complain to customers about me. She also remarked that she has been vaccinated for COVID. Well, I was not worried about COVID, but I was worried about cross contamination of other sorts. On my ticket it clearly stated that I am allergic to onions. I saw her working on other salads, touching her hair, grabbing a new loaf of bread and cutting it, going back to other salads, touching her hair again with both hands, and then making my salads. If she did all of that and did not change her gloves how can I be sure that she did not have onion on her gloves? I know that she had whatever hair products she uses on her gloves after touching her hair so many times! When I heard her complaining about me (verified by another customer) I asked if there was a manager on the premises, and one of the other young ladies came speak with me. I explained the entire situation and she agreed and even confirmed the bad attitude of the girl who made my salads. I also noted that she still had not changed her gloves!!! So glad that I did not eat there today, I went right around the corner to get the same salad at an establishment that follows food safety measures. It was delicious and they will be my go-to for salads from here on out! Verde has not only lost my business, but the business of everyone in my office and all the people that I would have referred to them. This place is just like chop't, if you've ever been to one.... Salad bar with tons of options, and then they chop it up and put it in a bowl for you. I had the buffalo cauliflower salad, which came with buffalo cauliflower, grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, carrots, and blue cheese. There was also this buffalo/ranch dressing that was yummy! For two salads and a soda (and 15% tip), it came to $25. Crazy thing about South Carolina... The tax here is 11%!! Eek. Not Verdes fault, though. Just surprised me when two $8.95 salads ended up being so high in price. Minus one star for the girl working behind the counter... One of my favorite lunch spots! Verde is delicious and fast. This location is almost always busy - but the staff manages to get through everyone in line in a timely manner. My favorite salad is the Southern Harvest - but sometimes they overdo it on the dressing. I usually have to ask for light dressing or it's overwhelming. My only gripe about this location is that, because of the heavy traffic in the store - it is not extremely clean or well-kept. Forks are missing often and tables are a bit dirty. read more

I have these streaks of wanting to eat healthy and actually watching what I eat...insert Verde. This place is great and they have somehow managed to sustain serving people nothing but salads (and soup?). They have several seasonal salads and they do actually change depending on the season. There are 3-4 options and I normally end up enjoying 1-2 or them every time they change. They also have the normal preset options or you can build your own. You can do anything you want all the way to the greens your salad is built on. They also have some sort grain option for the base that leads to other possibilities for your "salad". Great thing is they realize you aren't there for the green leafy base but what makes the salad delicious is everything that comes on top of it and they don't skimp on it. They are happy to give you extra of anything without an extra charge (I believe except meat) and that includes dressing. Once you are done building your culinary masterpiece they toss or chop your salad and you are off. Prices are reasonable and the staff there is normally quite cordial. Go have a salad...and make it as healthy or unhealthy as you damn wall please. read more

Delicious and quick salads. Gluten free options available. Easy to track given the made from scratch everything. Really great light, healthy lunch. Fresh and filling. And most things are compostable! Indoor seating was pretty empty as lots of people seem to grab lunch to go. The service is mixed. First time was great, second time I had to yell stop to make sure they didn't add whatever they thought on autopilot (tortilla strips etc). And they ignored my request for dressing on the side, I couldn't stop that in time.
