Always a lovely place to get some work done. The food has always been good and the service is so kind. The ambiance is bright and open and includes plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a block from colonial park lake which is a great place for a walk with your coffee and friends. My experiences here have always been enjoyable and peaceful.

An upscale shop which is part of a large development towards the southern end of Charleston. I ordered takeout and found it ready on my arrival. However, the falafel wrap I ordered didn't look anywhere near as impressive as the one posted here previously. It came with some kettle chips and don't get me wrong it was tasty falafel, but also pricey. There's a time and a place for it, for sure, but if my goal was to get the best falafel I'd go somewhere cheaper, and if I wanted a fancy food outlet and marketplace, Mercantile and Mash had this place beat by far on selection, ambiance, and the quality of food.

Alcove Market is a gourmet market and cafe that has recently opened in the Harleston Village area of downtown Charleston...the business is open for breakfast and lunch and will serve fresh salads and sandwiches. This type of establishment has been long awaited for and will be a great addition to the Beach Company's main offices and The Jasper Apartments. The cafe style environment features freshly prepared items as well as "grab and go" items. Tables and booths ~ cafe style~ line the inside in the event you would like to have more of a leisurely breakfast or lunch. There is a large open and airy outdoor patio with plenty of tables. Alcove Market is a fine place for gathering with friends/ meeting for a quiet business lunch /or for "on-the-run" quick take-out. A nice part about this eatery is that it is off the beaten track and away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and all that goes along with that scene ...namely the busyness and noise of the main districts downtown and the inconvenience of having to find a parking space!!! Alcove Market is branding itself as a "gourmet market" as well and has included a retail section offering high quality specialty foods and an ample selection of international wines for sale. The design space was done by an award winning NYC based architectural and interior design firm so I am eager to stop by and enjoy all that Alcove Market & Cafe has to offer and to welcome this new business to the Charleston food and beverage community! Look for Alcove Market on the ground floor at 310 Broad Street, Suite 155. Parking is plentiful along Barre Street. Hours: 7am-7pm. *Food photos to follow after opening day on February 8,2023. **New updated photos as of February 9,2023.

Winter Greens Salad with crispy tofu

Alcove is located on the side of The Jasper. It's a convenient stop if you're in the Colonial Lake area. It has coffee, breakfast and lunch food, and some to-go options/some groceries as well. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and it is dog friendly! It reminds me a lot of Fox Trot for those of you familiar with that one (DC, Dallas, Austin, Chicago areas). We stopped here for lunch the other day and got the winter greens salad (winter greens, strawberries, walnuts, Gorgonzola, creamy dill dressing) with crispy tofu and the Colonial Lake sandwich. The bacon jam on the sandwich was very good. The salad felt a little expensive for what it was, but I am glad they had tofu as an option for protein and it was very crispy. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way necessarily, but it definitely satisfies a craving for a healthy breakfast/lunch spot close to Colonial Lake. Mid day on a weekday there was some seating left both indoor and outdoor but also enough people that it felt lively. The staff members working that day were very kind and friendly. They brought the food out to us when we were seated outside.

I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. Good, relaxing soft seating with umbrellas to get some shade. My iced matcha latte was delicious and it came out super quick. The staff was very nice and overall it was a quick, relaxing experience. My friend loved her iced chai latte too

this is the place we needed, but definitely don't deserve. Alcove is THE SPOT. first off, Alcove is walking distance from my house, so yeah, i think i go at least once a week now. me and my roomies frequently do our girl gab catch ups here. my gal pal roomie does not look very happy here but that quickly changed after she got her morning coffee. Their lattes are smackin, and I love that they even have a large size- because who ever really gets enough coffee in the morning? okay my next rave is the coffee cake. it is absolutely delectable and i almost cried the first time i had it. I am on a sugar detox and i miss eating this divine pastry with my morning coffee. why is it so good?? You think you're just getting a run of the mill coffee cake but, NO, it's cream filled. I mean c'mon. staff here is really nice and they always bring my coffee out to me with a smile. everyone should be smiled at once a day i think. Love it!!!

The avocado toast, brown sugar cinnamon pop-tart and a chai latte

Alcove just turned one and having this market has been such a fun add on to the downtown Charleston area. The location is perfect for the concept, connected to the jasper, you have colonial lake right there so the perfect walk to end an amazing meal or grab a coffee to go on the walk around the lake. They have little trinkets and items to buy but also an amazing menu to choose from. A classic for me is the avacado toast the pickled onions are something I crave on a classic avacado toast, it's definitely filling. I've also tried their breakfast burrito which has become a new favorite. The chorizo is fire and the right about of spice, ate it all and it was huge. I bring a friend every time I come. A fan favorite is also the breakfast sandwich which you can specialize! They have a couple seating in side but a patio with umbrellas. It does get busy but it has a quick turn over. The chai latte is amazing I've gotten it a few times now and will be back for more of it. Perfect blend in it, they have lots of milk or non dairy choices but I usually get it with 2%.

There were 4 open spots at the bar, so when we *finally* found the host, we asked if they were first come, first served. He told us there were two people coming and that he'd let us know. After waiting probably 10 min, he finally agreed to seat us at the bar (the 2 other people never showed up). So, there we sat...and sat. Bartender finally comes by and plops a bottle of water in front of us. Doesn't say hi / bye / or eff you (although she definitely gave off the latter vibe with her body language). After sitting there another 10 min and not being acknowledged whatsoever, I got fed up. Stood up, told my girlfriend I had had enough...and I flat out refused to give my money to an establishment that treats their customers in this manner. Honestly, I grew up in the Lowcountry and I can tell you that *most* restaurants/bars/shops/etc. in Charleston feature employees who are generally gracious/friendly/hospitable/helpful. Then, on occasion, you run into places like this. How they stay in business has to be a function of location alone, because their service is absolutely horrible! Will advise anyone who will listen to avoid this place at all costs!

The space has a beautiful Italian market café feel and offers coffee, pastries, pizza, soups, salads, and more. (sorellecharleston.com) The coffee was excellent. We tried two of their specialty drinks -- one was a latte with lemon cold foam and candied lemon pieces on top, which was absolutely fabulous and so unique. The other was a strawberry and cream coffee that was also delicious. For food, we had the specialty pizza of the day called "The Dip," which was topped with an artichoke dip spread and was really creative and tasty. We also ordered two chopped salads. At first I was a little disappointed to learn the salads were pre-made, but honestly they were fresh and much better than expected. My daughter also had the Italian wedding soup and thought it was fabulous. One thing to know: this place gets BUSY. We stopped by in the morning and the line was outrageous. Personally, I don't think it's worth waiting in a super long line. However, we came back later in the afternoon and had only a short wait, which made for a much more enjoyable experience. Overall, definitely worth a visit -- especially if you can avoid peak hours!
