    Margarita

The margarita was great and so was the food. Being vegan and having to travel extensively for work, I love it when I can find restaurants that offer more than just a veggie burger or salad!

I was pleasantly surprised how fresh and healthy the food is here. Lots of salads, both meat and plant-based dishes, vegan and GF options also. A bulk amount of the food is sourced locally from farms in PDX. My tacos were very tasty. I recommend asking for a side of the house inferno red hot sauce if you like spicy. I also added on a side of guacamole which came in a large portion and was very fresh tasting although in my opinion lacked lime juice and salt. My fiancé tried a margarita on the rocks ($12) and while it was small in size, he said it was absolutely delicious and really packed a punch. If I had a critique about the menu is that they do not offer soup at lunch. I love soup so maybe it's just me! We will definitely be back. Sit upstairs by the windows for a cool peaceful view (and great natural lighting to take pics of your food, lol).

Today was my first time visiting Verde Cocina and it did not disappoint! My Mom has been coming here for years and we finally got to go together. Let me tell you...this is the most PDX Mexican food in the state and it's delicious and the portions are more than generous! The Street Tacos...ah...yum! I'm still thinking about them. The ambience was cozy and spacious. The service was fast and friendly! (Had to dock one star because of the staircase, but I will be back!) My new favorite. Can't wait to try the Carne Asada Salad and the Verde Enchiladas! You should go!!!

We stopped here for lunch and it was a great experience and wonderful food. The server was friendly and helpful. They have outside seating with in individual pods for safety. Each pod has a heater for warmth. My mom had the vegan fajita, I had the carne asada salad and my dad had carne asada. We were all happy with the meals. It even appears to be a gluten free environment with all tortillas being corn. Also very vegetarian friendly. The chips and salsa was also very delicious. Highly recommend.

My friend and I found this cute restaurant tucked in a corner. Seating is upstairs but we ate on the patio. They have those private tables enclosed in plastic with heaters. The food was very good. The meat was rare like I asked and melted in your mouth. The salad was delightful and sweet mashed potato was a perfect twist to the dish. I would recommend going there. The service was fast and super friendly.

Scramble Breakfast. I believe it is Option1 on their menu.

Great healthy yet delicious breakfast selection. I selected their breakfast scramble which comes with a thick bacon cut and asked for cheese and habenero sauce. Steamed veggies, bacons, sauce, eggs, and 2 tortillas. You can make 2 breakfast tacos with significant amount of leftovers. Yes, the portion is huge!!! They specialize in Mexican breakfast with a twist and use healthy local ingredients. They also offer vegan options such as tofu scramble. I can't wait to come back next weekend and try their other plates. Also great friendly and fast customer service.

To be sure, Verde Cocina is not your typical Mexican spot. It is Mexican food done farmers market fusion style. Appropriate since Verde Cocina has a stand at the Saturday Portland Farmers Market at PSU. I had just got off a bus from Seattle just before the farmers market was closing. I decided to walk up a few blocks to the market to get some grub. My stomach was not feeling well, so I was looking for something that was a bit lighter on my stomach. I noticed a few market goers were eating some huge plates of Mexican food. Except they didn't look like your usual Mexican fare. So I headed for Verde Cocina to see what they are about. There I saw some huge mobile grills cooking up tons of vegetables. It became clear that this was a decidedly Portlander Mexican spot. The food here including the tortillas are gluten free. Items on the menu include Mexican breakfast fare like huevos rancheros for the early part of the day as well as more typical lunch fare like quesadillas and gringas. They offer vegetarian and meat versions of these items. Though the pricing is understandably higher if you want meat. Prices range from $8-12 here, so it is a bit more pricey than eating at one of the food trucks on Alder down the street. I decided to give the gringas con mole a try. They were out of braised pork, so I decided to get a chorizo version ($9) instead. The plate I received was a huge heap of food. Though the size of it was large, the food was kind to my stomach. It had a lot of veggies that you wouldn't associate to Mexican food like carrots, garbanzo beans and kale. The mole sauce went well with the chorizo. But I feel that the farm fresh veggies are what makes this dish shine. If you are particular about Mexican food being traditional and authentic, look elsewhere. Though if you want to try a different take on Mexican, give the Verde Cocina stand a try while at the Portland Farmers Market. It will make you rethink your thoughts on how Mexican food is prepared.

Same goodness of ingredients, corn GMO free, organic, local and fresh everything! Same as any of the VC stores. I always go to the one in the Pearl and love it. Now we're here outdoors in the South Park Blocks, PSU farmers market enjoying our breakfast quesadilla with big chunks of chorizo sausage, cojita cheese, fresh green beans, carrots, cabbage, onion and zuchinni on crispy & hot tortillas made only minutes ago. Got to shop now at some of my favorite local farmers. Tomatoes have been in season a few weeks now and I'm making fire roasted tomato soup today.

After a long wait for the food our turn came. My husband was interested to taste their food as he had heard good reviews about them. What attracted me was they were making fresh corn tortillas from scratch. When our turn came most of their ingredients were over but we thought we have made it through as vegetarians and they will inform the status. I just remember lot of red cabbage in my veggie chorizo. May be as they were closing our food didn't get much attention and the service felt like they are trying to Rush us due to cart closing time and gave us the left overs. I preferred them telling NO rather than serving just anything. I didn't get a heads up that the beans/rice is over or they would like to give more serving of veggies etc. I was charged the normal price but hardly got to taste the flavors. Lesson learnt - Be sure to visit them before their closing time.

Portland Farmer's Market is now open year round. Cocina Verde food stand is one of our go to places. We had the Mole today. Generous serving of Chicken and Veggies. The sauces available to add to the dish really made the dish better. I especially liked the Avocado Salsa. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República.
