Visited Verde on Smith for brunch and really enjoyed my french toast with a side of turkey sausage. The french toast wasn't too sweet and the edges were perfectly crisp while the rest of the french toast was fluffy and soft! We did not indulge in any of their 1 hour unlimited mimosa offer, but it was nice to know that is an option on their brunch menu. The staff was friendly and efficient. The outdoor seating area also has a nice covering that the staff can open or close if the sun is shining in too brightly on customers. My partner and I went there for a Valentine's Day dinner. Place was very crowded and there seemed to be only two waitstaff working that evening. The restaurant was only serving their prix-fixe menu which meant that we had no choice than to order the $69 three -course dinner which wasn't what we really wanted. The dinner included drinks, mine was a margarita, which seemed to have only a barely detectable amount of alcohol if any. There was a long wait for anything to arrive at our table, possibly because it was a busy night and they seemed understaffed and a bit overwhelmed. My entree was the lasagna which was by far the worst lasagna I've ever had. It arrived barely warm and tasted like it sat around a while and was overly smothered in mozzarella to the point where it tasted mostly like a pile of cheese with some meat sauce. I could barely eat it. My partner ordered a fish dish which she said did not taste at all fresh. We decided to order two more drinks which we had to remind the waiter about more than once. When the bill arrived there was an added gratuity of 20% tacked on with a space on the bill for an added tip. In short, it cost us around $200 for a quite mediocre meal. haven't been here again recently after I watched the manager yell at a hostess for SMILING. he had this poor girl standing outside on a cold morning and while it was very busy she was clearly doing the best she could with the groups of people waiting to be sat for brunch. several times she told a group that they were to be seated next and then the manager would come out and seat whoever he wanted. she was clearly becoming flustered because people were getting mad at her for this and the next time he came out she tried to correct him before he sat another random group first and then we all watched him raise his voice at her and question why she was smiling. yes. he yelled at a HOSTESS for smiling. you could tell she was holding back tears and before we left our group slipped her a 20. no one should have to deal with a manager like that. despicable. treat your staff better. read more

Stopped by for brunch a few times. They have a decent size space. But they get pretty packed for brunch on the weekend. They offer 2 different brunch packages a 90 min bottomless option with the purchase of an entree and $70 for 2 which come with 2 entrees and one pitcher. We went with the $70 option and ordered the spaghetti carbonara + chicken and a steak sandwich with fries both of which were good. Such a cute place! Came here for brunch with a friend. They do not do reservations and so we chanced it midday on a Sunday and we were able to get a table relatively quickly. The calamari was nice and fried hard just the way I like it. The ambiance was nice and the server Arita was amazing. She knew when the drinks needed to be replenished. We had an early dinner but even later in the evening when we were leaving, the restaurant was not busy at all. They gave us complimentary tomato onion bruschetta as a starter. It was tasty, with the olive oil soaked nicely into the bread. We also had the fried mozzarella, which we enjoyed. For my main, I had the pappardelle portobello. The pasta was nicely cooked al dente but the dish was a bit lacking on the mushrooms. It was quite bland and would've been better in a cream sauce. I had to load it with chili flakes and parmesan just to get a bit of flavor. To drink, I had the spicy margarita. It had only a subtle kick and wasn't very strong alcohol-wise. However, they check for vaccination before you come in and all staff were masked (and so very pleasant!). They have two dining areas; one which is outdoors but enclosed and an indoor space. We were directly ushered to the enclosed area for dining. The meal itself was fine. I had the skirt steak Benedict, a friend had shrimp scampi and another one had hanger steak and eggs. I ordered a hot chocolate which was ok; not too sweet but not much of a chocolate flavor either. My skirt steak was prepared as I asked; rare, but it was pretty tendony (I know that's not a word), the eggs weren't very runny and the Hollandaise was solidified, the hash was great. I think my plate was sitting for awhile because the food came out more like room temperature rather than warm. I tried a bite of the scampi and the flavor was good And pasta was Al dente. Overall, not a bad experience but not at the top of my brunch list. But they do offer a bottomless brunch. Credit card surcharge is applied but unclear until you get your bill. This is a bustling brunch spot in Carroll Gardens. There was a 45-minute wait for a table for 2, so my friend and I went to grab dessert first from nearby Malai Ice Cream. When we returned, we were told that it would be an additional 20 minutes, but thankfully we were seated in the backyard garden in less time than that. The outdoor dining area was lovely and felt cozy. I was thinking of ordering the Grilled Skirt Steak and Fries, and in retrospect, I should have gone with that choice. Instead, I decided to go for the Shrimp Scampi, which consisted of 6 jumbo shrimp cooked in sauce made out of lemon, butter, and garlic, along with Saffron Risotto. The shrimp was lovely and I really enjoyed the accompanying the sauce, which was well seasoned and addicting. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, succulent, juicy, and I kept drowning them in the delicious sauce. The Saffron "Risotto," however, left much to be desired. It was certainly not risotto by any means... I don't think I even detected any cheese within it, and it was a very small portion - No more than a quarter cup. The saffron flavor did come through though. The service was pretty good. I would give this place another try at some point, but it won't be for awhile. read more

A great spot for brunch! They have plenty of outdoor seating, with both curbside seating and a backyard area. We were even able to dine with our dog! I wish they weren't so expensive, because I would literally order half the menu. But alas, my budget only allows me one entre and one drink LOL. My roommate and I split the smoke salmon benedict and crab cakes. We also both ordered lychee mojitos. MMM, the crab cakes were heavenly. Fresh and creamy and moist, they were perfect. The smoked salmon benedict was also amazing. The eggs were cooked wonderfully, and they didn't skimp on the smoked salmon portions. Each dish also came with a small assortment of greens. I'm not really sure how I felt about the lychee mojitos, because, well you'll read why. I was looking forward to a super refreshing lychee taste, which I did taste in the first sip, but beyond that initial sip, all I could taste was alcohol. So on the one hand, a little disappointed that the lychee flavor wasn't all there, but on the other hand, they are very generous with their alcohol pours and you're definitely getting the most bang for your buck if you're looking to get a little buzzy at brunch! Next time, we'll definitely be indulging in one of their bottomless options, perhaps with three entrées split between us, haha! read more

The service was great and prompt. Now the food, was just okay. The calamari had the breading falling off the meat and was rather greasy and extra chewy. (I didn't try it but my friend raved about it) Buffalo Wings--(I didn't try it, but my two friend did and they enjoyed) Seasoned Fries Wedges--1 out of 5. (They were so dry; they were basically not edible. Don't order this. Mozzarella Sticks--4.5 out of 5. They were pretty good Eggs-3 out of 5. I didn't care for the eggs, it's hard to mess up eggs, but they didn't do anything for me. One of my friends said she liked hers. Turkey Bacon Overall, I had a good time here. I believe the food was a tad above average, but the service was above average. All of the people we encountered were friendly and helpful. Probably one of the busiest brunch spots I've been to in a hot minute. I met up with a friend around 1pm-ish. There was a 45 minute wait so we went and got ice cream and walked around for awhile after we put our name down. Came back and there was an additional 20 minute wait. I highly recommend making a reservation. You will probably still have to wait for your table. There's both indoor and outdoor dining, a large atrium outside that's very well heated, private bubble booths as well, and seating outside in front of their establishment. They really went the extra distance with trying to find a way to accommodate as many customers as possible while really utilizing their space and keeping it socially distant and safe. So is it worth the wait? Yes and no. I think it is quite expensive for what it is. The boozey aspect of brunch is $20 on top of your food. But what place isn't these days. But they have a much wider selection of brunch cocktails (Peach, Mango, Raspberry, Pineapple, Cranberry Bellini, Mimosa, Bloody Mary, and Screwdrivers) than most places. I wasn't feeling in a drinking heavily kind of mood and went with a singular mango bellini ($8) and it was aight. More juicy than boozey and I get it with how many drinks they're churning out for the unlimited deal. For my food I ordered the savory chicken crepe with mozzarella and spinach. It came with a side salad and precisely three potato wedges. The crepe was large enough that I wasn't upset over the skimpy amount of potatoes. It was just noted. But I really actually enjoyed the crepe. My friend went with the shrimp scampi and let me tell you. . . . scampi translates to skimpy. Genuinely shocked. It was six pieces of shrimp which is fine over a very carefully measured amount of saffron rice. Like someone said don't serve more than a quarter cup of rice on this one. But she said it was really delicious and she would definitely come back. So maybe the flavors are spot on. But all I could think was thank god I didn't get the child sized portion of rice and handful of shrimpies. Overall, I was pleased. The French toast was my favorite part of the meal. I bread never became soggy even after I loaded it with syrup. Staff - Excellent and patient.
