VERGI helped save my cat. He had ingested a large piece of carpet string (thank you dad for not telling me until he was throwing it up...), and was in severe pain. I rushed over and the doctor helped me determine my options. Because my cat also had a brain disorder, they were gracious enough to have two separate doctors analyze the risks involved with the surgery. I decided that saving my cat's life was worth it, and after the appropriate recovery time, I was overjoyed at seeing my cat able to run around. It is very important to realize that there are many precautions that ER's have to consider to avoid a catastrophic mistake. I have had 2 experiences at VERGI. One was 3 years ago. My kitten had been attacked by the neighbors dog. They immediately rushed us in before everyone else and had a vet look at her. They said she had already gone into shock and we ultimately made the decision to put her down. They allowed us to stay in the room with her as long as we needed and let us hold her until she passed on. They respected us and our kitten and gently carried her away when we had said our goodbyes. The second experience was a few months ago. My cat was in extreme pain from not being able to urinate. They got him in quickly and efficiently walked us through the best options to help him. They immediately got him on pain medication, urinary catheter and over catheter in and on fluids. I called several times a day and they immediately patched me to a vet that explained in detail how he was doing. I also went to visit him and no matter what time of day or night they let me see him and treated him and us with respect. They are very expensive but they are an emergency center. They worked with us on the initial price. I have nothing but good things to say about the facility and the staff!!! read more

I think the service was way too slow. It took us 60 minutes to see the Veterinarian Technician, 30 minutes more to see the Veterinarian and finally 60 minutes more to check out with two prescriptions. 2 1/2 hours later we finally walked out of there. These prescriptions were in the pill form. All they had to do was to pull the containers down from the shelves and put them in smaller containers. 60 minutes for this? I can not imagine how long it would have taken if we needed something more complicated. This place should realize consumers have options even on Sunday's. Next time I will try some place else for sure. Never going back there. read more

I've been coming here every two days for the past couple weeks for my foster dog Maggie & I have to say I really love this place. Everyone is very sweet and helpful and they seem to really care about all the fur babies who come here. The ladies up front, especially Avery, are super nice & the doctors & technicians are all great as well. I will definitely continue to come here for my own dogs in the future if need be. read more

Just finished reading some of the reviews for Vergi, both positive and negative. Let me start by saying that when your animal is in pain, waiting a day to see if they get better on their own is simply not an option. That being said, you know going in that this is an emergency clinic and, as such, the fees will be commensurate with emergency care. When I gulped at the price of diagnostic testing, pain meds, shots and IV fluids (plus the cost of the initial visit), they explored several other, less expensive options. In the best of all worlds, I would have gone with the most inclusive treatment plan but, given financial constraints, opted for Door #2 - the semi-conservative option. Thankfully, the IV fluids, pain meds, and shot for her inflamed pancreas did the trick and my little Cairn terrier is fine a couple days later. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the staff - from the sweet receptionists, the patient vet (Dr. Ron) and the very caring techs. When you walk in their door, you are treated with kindness, patience and respect, which is amazing given how many emergencies they must treat daily. You get the sense that you and your animal are their only case - despite recognizing you're far from it. I am so grateful that this place is just a few miles from my house. What a godsend! Last week there was an incident and i brought my cat "Dude" in to be checked out. This being my first experience with my animal in distress and him being hurt I think it's safe to say we were both very scared and anxious. Once i walked into the facility, the staff greeted me and immediately took "Dude" to be examined. The Doctor got me in the room to explain the situation very fast and was very thorough. While still shaken up a bit, the Doctor and staff put my mind and tension at ease. I came back to pick up "Dude" a few hours later with a full breakdown and explanation. I cannot thank Vergi enough for taking us in and helping us. I even received a follow up call to check on my little guys condition. They go above and beyond for their clients and pets and that is hard to come by. I refer and recommend everyone that needs help to check them out. You will not be disappointed. Vergi came highly recommended to me from a good friend of mine I work with in rescue. My personal dog was very very ill and had been sitting at another ER clinic while they did practically nothing for 2 days. I made the decision to move him to Vergi and they immediately went to work to triage him and trying to find out the source of is issues. I met with Dr. Johnston the first day and she went over the different treatment options with me, was very detailed and explained everything in terms I could understand. I had to leave him there but I was very comfortable in doing so as I knew he was in good hands. I received updates daily as to what treatment he was receiving and tests that had been performed. I felt I could call any time I wanted to check on him and never felt like I was bothering them. During his stay Dr. Sutherland, Dr. Garcia, as well as Dr. Noaker also looked after him. Unfortunately, he was in renal failure and had a malignant mass on his liver (and most likely his lung) and he couldn't be saved. I can't thank all of the doctors, vet techs, and the girls at the front desk enough for all that they do every day to save as many lives as possible. You can tell they truly care about their patients and I know they were sad when Baron passed away. read more

Brought dog in Saturday night. She has cancer and is 14 but still had life in her and Vergi agreed. Was going to xray her, at 5:30 pm and said results would be ready after 1 hour and someone would call. Nope. Visited Sunday am and dog was tired but better than Saturday, all night IV fluids. Dr called at 10 pm said shift change courtesy call, she was bright and eating some. Switched her meds to oral, I was encouraged. Picked her up Monday morning, she could barely walk much less stand. They said IV backed up into he leg which was 4 times bigger than normal. Took immediately to regular vet who gave her pain meds and antibiotic since its clear the drip line was not properly cared for or checked. Dogs cannot tell you when they are in pain and the whole point of taking her there was the round the clock care. Apparently not Sunday nights. My dog even had FLEAS!!! Beware, this stay caused my dog to lay around, cannot walk and has seemed to have lost her interest in life. Never again. read more

Ok, so I decided out of desperation to try this place, since it's one of few open on Sunday, and the place near me said I'd have to be a walk-in. One would think a "24-hour emergency clinic" would have a sense of urgency about it. Besides the exorbitant fee, I had to sit and wait every bit as long as I would have at the place closer. The killing part is, there was only one other pet there the whole time! The young vet was as competent as any although really vying for me to leave him in the "hospital." I had to wait in the room to see the vet, then wait for them to come give my dog an injection, then wait for them to "write up" the notes, and another half hour to write the prescription! Where has it EVER taken that long to get a prescription?! It's as though they were trying to justify their pay, and fill long hours with about 8 people working there, all leisurely standing around and talking. The worst part is, when I questioned the wait, they seemed to think I was being unreasonable, and neither of the two front desk girls actually took the initiative to walk back and try to help hurry the process along. The one thing you don't want when your pet is sick and in pain is to sit waiting in their entry room for an extra hour. I will never go back, and don't recommend unless you're far more patient and have extra time to kill. read more

Vets were afraid to treat stray cat (who was very calm - obviously a pet) appropriately and kept me 3 hours AFTER they had taken cat and given an estimate before they let me pay and leave ($350 supposedly to keep cat overnight and give pain meds... I found out in morning they did NOTHING for cat - I would have taken it elsewhere that night if I had known they weren't going to treat it). This used to be my place to go when my pets had an emergency; lack of caring for the animal or me means I will NEVER be back. read more

We took our dog Arthur in today for a leg injury. They took exceptional care of him. All of the staff were incredibly caring and professional. The wait time was short, pricing reasonable and they explained the diagnosis and treatment clearly. I would return to VERGI again for any future emergency needs. read more

I can't say enough good things about this clinic. I have had 2 great experiences here. The most recent was Sunday when I had to put my beloved 10 year old cat son down. All staff was so compassionate, as they knew this was such a hard time for me. Ask for Dr. Rand if you have to euthanize. This is her specialty and she will make the experience peaceful, and involve you in every step. I will forever be grateful for the last loving moments I had with my baby here. read more

Biggest rip off I have ever seen! The prices are beyond over 15 times what a vet charges. They tell you it could be life or death to get the money, playing on your emotions. They add on charges and work it up from hundreds to thousands. I was told $4800. for an emergency cesarean for my dog after I had already paid $600.. They said she would never be able to have the pups naturally. While they were presenting me with the charges, and I was actually writing the check when my dog gave birth naturally with no complications at all. I believe in rewarding business that do a good job. My hope is that other clients will use this review in deciding were to take their precious pets in an emergency. My mistake was that I did not choose Vergi first and that may have cost my cats life. I will never know since my cat passed away on the way to Vergi. Immediately upon arrival my cat was non responsive, they administered CPR, but was unsuccessful. First of all Vergi did everything in their power to comfort us by allowing us in back while they performed CPR. This was a terrible situation, but we were with him in the end. Dr. Sosa and the staff handled the situation in a very professional and compassionate manner. I will never go anywhere else in an emergency situation. Keep providing your high level of professional care. CHOOSE Vergi should your pet need emergency care, your pets life depend on it. I have an extensive background in veterinary medicine and Vergi did everything right. Prior to coming to Vergi I went to All Pets Emergency Care and received less than adequate care for my cat. I did not feel comfortable in leaving my cat in the care of All Pets so I opted for SQ fluids and an injection for my cats vomiting. Later to find out that if my cat had a heart condition and All Pets gave him SQ fluids that may have exacerbated his condition. Which could explain why his condition declined so quickly? All Pets never recommended an ultrasound that could have saved his life. They recommend IV Fluids and hospitalization. I will forever have to live with my decisions. read more

Dr. Ron, the vet techs, and reception were all fabulous. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable in the stressful situation we were going through with our dog, Roxy. I like how everyone took their time with us to look at all the possible scenarios and issues and explain to us in terms we would understand. Dr. Ron was extremely sweet and knowledgeable as well as the vet tech...I could tell they truly love what they do and care for the animals. The other 24/7 vet clinic I went to last year made very quick judgement calls without narrowing down other possible problems my dog could be experiencing. That vet let me go all weekend thinking my dog was dying of cancer when it was just fatty tissue. My bill at the last 24/7 clinic was outrageous too--Vergi 24/7 gave me an itemized breakdown of fees and gave me several options (which I truly appreciated). I would not hesitate to go back to Vergi 24/7 in the future and will consider this my emergency vet location from this point forward. Thank you Dr. Ron and staff! I will try and be as fair as I possibly can here. Some of the people here, Dr. Garcia, Beth, and Sophie (or Sophia) were top notch. They were very understanding, compassionate, and treated my cat with dignity. The other front desk person, Jasmine, was incredibly rude and unprofessional. After taking my cat to the back for triage, she explained that I had to put down a deposit of 900 dollars. I explained I did not have 900 dollars to put down but would like to speak to a vet first. She did not explain that I could apply for Care Credit. She just said I had to sign that I refused treatment. I explained that I wanted to speak to someone first. Jasmine said I could speak to no one until i signed the paper. At that time I did snatch the paper from her, sign it, and tossed it back on the desk. Here is where it gets really interesting. Jasmine informs me that she will not have me snatching papers from her and if necessary she will call the police. Seriously? My cat is not breathing. I am beyond a nervous wreck trying to hold it together. And she is threatening to call the police on me? Last time I checked, snatching papers from someone and tossing them back on a desk was not against any laws. If it was meant to intimidate me, it failed. In the end, the people who actually treated my cat were kind and gentle. I ended losing my pet, but felt that part of it was handled with professionalism. I called the next morning and spoke with Dr. Sealy, their chief of staff, and he was very kind and listened to my concerns. He was empathetic and professional. I realize vet care is expensive, especially emergency care. I needed to know all my options. I did not need some unprofessional punk with a God complex thinking they could push me around. Jasmine might be a great employee, however, she does not need to work the front desk as she is completely lacking in compassion, empathy, or acceptable customer service skills. I definitely will never utilize their services again. I will drive a little further and go to Gulf Coast Veterinary Clinic which is also a 24-hour emergency facility. Also, I waited over a month before publishing this to see if my raw emotions were influencing my review. They were not. I still would not frequent this place and their desk clerk, Jasmine, was totally unprofessional and rude. Good luck if you go there. read more

I feel totally raped. DO NOT go here! In one hour I have been charged $620. My dog as CHF. He passed out and had labored breathing. We already know he has this disease and it's worsens. We just had X-rays done in November, they did 3 more totaling to $260 plus all other tests and oxygen etc. The end result is it's time for more meds. The estimate to keep him on oxygen overnight is $1766-$2695!!! What!?!? The last time he went in over night at a different ER clinic for the same thing, my total was $600. This place is insane. I am not one to post a review on yelp whether it be pro establishment or anti establishment, but I had such a terrible experience here I have to. This clinic was more interested in up selling me for procedures then they were to take care of my dog. I do not recommend this vet clinic nor do I suggest anyone goes here. I was faced with an emergency with my dog. They were sloppy, rude and NOT empathetic at all. It was the worst experience of my life at a veterinary clinic. If you go in understanding that Vergi's business model is similar to that of a car dealership's, you will be a step ahead of where I was when I brought my cat in for emergency care. Be vigilant and be assertive. Ask to see your pet (who is sequestered in the back) before making a decision on the "light" or "heavy" payment options presented to you after being buttered up by the vet (who showed me a tuft of my cat's shaved fur with blood on it as a lead in to the conversation). Understand that the veterinarians, as stakeholders, are aware of and are a part of the business model. Push back, cross out any of the itemized treatment options that you don't think are necessary. Remember, you are in control. You will get good care, but unless you go in with your eyes open, or unless being manipulated for monetary gain does not bother you one jot, you may leave feeling like you have just been had. They took care of my cat, (thank you!), and were efficient and polite, but if I had known about their business methods ahead of time, I would have squared my shoulders, had a lot more control over my cat's treatment plan, and would have gone home relieved and happy vs. just relieved. read more

I can't say enough good things about VERGI. They were very responsive and took over care of my dog immediately upon entering the lobby as they seemed to have been expecting me like an ambulance at an emergency room (I had called only with questions) which impressed me greatly. Unfortunately we had to put Ozzy down the next day as he hadn't responded to immediate aggressive treatments. The Dr. clearly informed me of my options, costs, effect of performing the tests on him, and chance of recovery. They could have easily used this as an opportunity run up a huge bill ($6,000 - $8,000 I was told) but they looked out for the best interest of both Ozzy and me and recommended that his suffering come to an end. They made a very difficult time easier to deal with and did so with compassion and extreme care and patience. The candle they light in the lobby when a pet is being aided into heaven is a very special and caring touch, as is the sympathy card they sent. I want to thank Nikko, Ruth, Dr. Laura, Melanie, Mayra, Cindy, Roxy, Selena and Avery and Sydni for taking the time out of their day to express their condolences. You guys are the best!!! read more

My husband and i took are 4 month only puppy (big puppy) to Vergi because she had diarrhea and throwing up. We arrived no waiting we were immediately placed in a room, the tech (do not remember her name) came in and we told her the symptoms our pup was having she immediately told us it could be parvo a very serious disease in dogs. They ran test and it became clear that is what she had, the doctor came in (did not seem to care or sympathize with us) he further explained parvo and we asked about our options, we had three: 1. to keep the dog with IV's etc until she was doing better. the problem? it was $500 a night, 2. To give her outpatient to bring the pup in once a day for a shot for however long she needed. Problem? the shot would be $100 not including the doctors visit which is $95. 3. To put my puppy to sleep Once i heard the options i cried we did not have the money to pay $500 a night, parvo takes about 7-10 days that would have been $3,500 - $5,000!! We decided to do outpatient and visit our vet the next day to continue with the shots. While the tech was giving Molly her shots and liquids we asked about parvo and she was being so negative (I was already crying) she said that only 40% of dogs make it and did not give not one glimpse of hope. We paid $300+ dollars. We woke up the next morning to Molly doing much worse, i told my husband the only other option was to put Molly to sleep since we didn't want her to suffer. It was a tough decision. We arrived to Northloop Pet Clinic (a little rundown, but EXCELLENT service, better than this "emergency" clinic) My eyes were swollen from crying, we told them we needed to put the pup to sleep the tech told us "you don't want to try? she doesn't look that bad" in my head i'm thinking well the tech at Vergi practically told us she was on her death bed. We asked how much the treatment fee would be, she said $300 it doesn't matter how long it takes, its a flat fee, we would have to pay $150 to leave here there and $150 when we pick Molly up. I was happy there was hope for Molly, my frown turned into a smile. We decided to keep her there a week later they called us to pick her up and she was back to her normal self, we just had to go back for a few check ups but i am so glad i did not listen to the doctor or tech! we were so close to putting her down! Glad Northloop Pet Clinic gave me the option to save Molly! now she's healed and back to her playful herself! read more

I don't think I would use this place again. I specifically told them do NOT do anything that is outside their $98 exam fee without asking me first. Oh no ma'am we definitely won't. My bill ended up being over $200 and it was for services my regular vet had already performed. We actually went there for a particular service that they said was available when we called ahead but $200+ later they were unable to make good on their word. I can't believe I didn't write a review when we came in last year with an emergency for our Yorkie! The vets here did wonderful work and found out my girls problem very quickly. We ended up coming back for a few sessions of laser therapy and it was simply amazing how much it helped her. Yes, it's not cheap although what do you expect with an emergency? I don't know why but there are two listings for this business here so I am going to copy and paste my review from the other one here. I took my 3 day old puppy in because he was dehydrated. He was obviously dehydrated since he was not suckling his mothers milk. Mind you, I am a nurse so even though I don't know much about dogs I know how lab results tie together. I also do not need a lab test to tell me my puppy is dehydrated or that the blood sugar is too low or that the ammonia level is too high. They all go hand in hand. If the puppy does not eat, he will definitely be dehydrated and have low blood sugar. If he is dehydrated, he will not be able to excrete urine or fecal matter properly. If he can not properly evacuate, he will have high ammonia levels. I waited over an hour for the vet to tell me that my puppy is dehydrated. Yes, I knew this....that's why I wrote it down on the papers as his health concern. I asked the vet if she re-hydrated him and she replied, "eh, his prognosis is guarded" She suggested lab work and mentioned that they were heating up milk at the moment. She suggested over night tube feeding and said a tech would bring me a quote. Almost an hour later they bring the quote. I realize I don't have to pay 500 for over night feeding when I have a handler who has been doing this for 42 years. So I deny the over night and agree to labs, even when I already knew they would be off. About 20 minutes later the vet tells me that she has the results and of course they are not good. She suggests IV and over night or euthanasia. She states my puppy has a congenital (birth) defect, portosystemic shunt, because the ammonia levels are high and highly suggests euthanasia. I'm not understanding because my dog was born on Tue and it's Thurs. portosystemic shunt is normal in newborn puppies and closes within three days after birth. My regret on this part is that I called my fiance and when I said the puppy was two days old he corrected me to say almost 4. So I put 4 days old and he is 2. So, I asked to see my puppy and they already tried to start an IV, unsuccessfully. Again, I'm not understanding because it's not even 3 days old yet and it's dehydrated. It's difficult enough getting an IV into a dehydrated human being and the vessels are larger. My puppy is gasping for air and shaking at this time with no response to touch. Mind you, my puppy was scooting around and making noises when I brought him in. I pinched the skin on the back of his neck to check for his hydration and he is not hydrated. So I asked this vet again if she gave him the subcut shot to re-hydrate him. She said not yet because she told me about the plan. Please explain to me why they let my puppy sit in their hospital for over an hour knowing he was dehydrated and did nothing about it till almost 3 hours later? and why they didn't go for a non-invasive intervention before an IV???? I did not want to leave this puppy in their hands anymore even if he was dying. I decided that I would rather take him home to die with his mother. I asked them to give the subcut injection to rehydrate him so I could take him home. They took him back to do so, only to come back 5 minutes later with my puppy dead. The worse part is that while I was waiting for them to give the injection, the receptionist came to my room to talk to me. She told me that what I was doing was wrong and inhumane. That I was torturing that puppy by taking him home. It is not her part in life to tell me such a thing after they let my puppy lay around for a few hours doing absolutely nothing before jabbing it with needles. It is critical for a puppy to be treated ASAP when dehydrated because dehydration will kill it even faster. How could they wait that long. I went to that place for an emergency and that's how it was handled. If anything, they should have given the hydration injection while making my puppy wait even if it may not have saved his life in the end. For all we know, it may have saved his life. That shot would not have done anything negative, so why not at least try. Why not make the puppy more comfortable while you make him wait for over an hour just to thoroughly examine him. Why not give the shot to give me some peace knowing that at least we tried our best. read more

I brought my dog in because he was running a fever and was very lethargic. It was a Friday after 5:00 and my regular vet was unavailable. I was the only customer in the clinic. However, they do have signs posted everywhere stating they take the most critical patients first so depending on your emergency and how busy they are, you might experience wait times. They kept him overnight and ran several tests. Well, he ended up staying the whole weekend with a liver infection. They were very good about keeping me informed daily of his condition. They even have visiting hours so I was able to visit Sancho on Saturday. All of the staff from the receptionist, to the techs, to the doctors were friendly and professional. However, they are very cut and dry when it comes to explaining things. I imagine it's because they are a very busy clinic so don't expect a lengthy conversation about your pet's condition. They recommend you follow-up with your regular vet which I did. I felt at ease knowing Sancho was getting great care. They go over an itemized estimate with you and you must pay for everything up front before they treat your animal. It is expensive, but considering they are an emergency clinic open 24/7/365 it was to be expected. I have pet insurance so I didn't worry too much about that. I'm glad I have a "go-to" place if I have an emergency. read more

This was the first time I had used VERGI. First and foremost, I would like to thank Dr. Laura Ron and her staff for their understanding and compassion. My dog's situation was not life threatening; however, many severe cases arrived while I was waiting. This gave me time to observe attitudes and treatment of pets and their owners. I have to give them kudos on all aspects! Although the night was hectic for VERGI and my waiting time was emergency-room long, when I did speak with Dr. Ron, she was not "rushed", answered all my questions and provided a thorough opinion of my dog's situation. My cat was attacked by (2) dogs on Sunday morning,. Through a referral I went to GCVS on 610 S Loop. They examined my cat, gave him oxygen but could not do x rays because their machine was broken. They did this at NO CHARGE and referred me to VERGI. Upon arriving at VERGI they took my cat to the back and within minutes the person working on my cat was at the reception desk asking as to whether or not the triage fee of $350.00 had been paid. After waiting for some time a technician ask that we go to another room where the doctor would talk to us. At that time the doctor explained to us the injuries the cat had and that another technician would explain the estimate of charges to us. After some time a tech came in with an estimate of $1200 and change on the low side and $2700 on the high side. We ask for time to consider and had made up our minds that we would take our cat home. Once we told the tech this the doctor came back in and explained to us that our cat had some type of bleeding in his air tube and strongly suggested that we leave the cat with them and said that she would except a deposit of $1700. Later that evening I called twice checking on the condition of my cat and even took him food so that he would eat. Both times I called and when I went down their I was told I could pick up our cat the next morning. I called the next morning to arrange his discharge and was told at that time by another doctor that he needed a another test and it would cost $350 including admin fees. I ask to pick up my cat and was told they would call me with the amount of charges. I waited and called back to be told that I had a $362.00 credit but they recommended that I leave my cat for another day for an additional $850. I refused and sent my roommate to pick up our cat at which time my credit was dropped to $182. So after many phone calls and such he took our cat to our regular vet which told us the cat was in great condition and examined him, went through all their documents and gave us his meds for $52 and change. I feel VERGI IS A RIPOFF, AND THEY PREY OFF THEIR CUSTOMERS EMOTIONS TO GET INTO THEIR POCKETS. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE USE THEIR SERVICES.They will charge you a large amount of money and for procedures not needed. I have more compassion for my plumbing customers then they do for their customers and their animals!! read more

Have used this clinic when needed for my dogs since the 1990's but not until today have I had such poor service and attention by their staff. I took my dog in for a basic, straightforward problem on a weekend when my vet was closed. They kept me waiting for 2 hours and when I needed to leave they still did not have the medication ready for my dog so I had to leave without it. Staff appeared to be unorganized with a lack of customer service skills. Since my dog's problem was not critical you would think the staff would make an effort to get my dog's medication ready after 2 hours since I had to leave but they clearly did not care. I got the sense they felt they could use the fact that they are an 'emergency clinic' as a legitimate excuse to keep people waiting for hours while they are doing whatever behind closed doors. Also, when I told the front desk person I was leaving and asked what did I owe she told me an amount, which I paid. Then she had the audacity to leave me a voicemail on my cell a few minutes after I left telling me I still I owed for a fecal test and if I did not pay it would go to collections. My husband called the receptionist back and she hung up on him. This clinic and it's staff has gone downhill and I will never use or recommend again. read more

First review ever but I had to warn people of this place. Took my dog in who was eating normally but acting abnormal. I thought maybe some kind of nerve damage. All vitals were normal but the clinic wanted to do $500 in diagnostic testing. I refused and paid my $98 fee for the visit. The clinic would not allow me to have my dog nor see her until I signed release papers. After another 20 minute wait (a total of 2 hour visit with my dog stashed in the back), the woman brought out the papers but made me sit and listen to her read the papers outloud before I could sign. I will never go back after using the clinic for over 15 years for emergencies. My dog came home to a late dinner and is scheduled to see the vet today. read more

I had to take my dog into the veterinary emergency referral group. She had jumped off the sofa and then wouldn't put her foot down. They took her to the back. It was a long time before I went into a room. There were several emergency that came in after me. They called lots of "stat"s after I came in. When I finally got in a room, they gave me an estimate of what they needed to do to find out what had happened. They had asked me earlier if they could give her a pain shot, I said yes. It turned out she had broken her leg, they referred me to a surgeon for her and kept her comfortable till I could take her to see the specialist two days later. I was so glad they were there for me and her. My girl has had her surgery and is doing much better now. Thanks VERGI! read more

It's been almost 2 months since my dog Frances has been home and I have each one of you to thank. I am beyond grateful for the genuine care you took with both she and I throughout the 4 days she spent at your facility. When I realized around 3:30am on Saturday morning I could no longer wait for my regular vet to open at 8am, I drove to VERGI where we were graciously let in the front door and I knew Frances was in the right place. The staff- receptionists, vet techs, vets- all answered my numerous (and probably redundant) questions anytime I would call to get an update. When I stopped in to visit her, both times the vet met me with, and I was made to feel like I was the only person there as they never made me feel rushed and again answered all of my many, many questions. I can truly say that I trust in the VERGI staff, care you provide and recommendations you provide and highly recommend your services to anyone who is in a desperate situation with their pet. I'm a little late in writing this but felt very compelled to let others know about the incredible service that my dog received and the compassion and explanations that they gave me. read more

I adopted a dog recently who turned out to have a ton of health issues. I've been in and out of vets offices nonstop it feels like for the first 3 weeks I got him. we had been on a good stretch where I thought we finally got everything taken care of until yesterday when he threw up all of his undigested food. Not too alarming but then I went to work and came back and he had done it again. And he was still vomiting bile. Very lethargic. I was concerned. We went to Vergi and I explained to them I wasn't sure if it was serious or not but with his recent history, to say I'm a worried mama would be an understatement. I'm overwhelmed with his medical bills already. The staff at Vergi was very kind and understanding. The vet assistant took his vitals so I could guage if it were possible to wait until our vet office opened up at 730am. We waited so I didn't pay for a visit with the Vet but they did put my fears at ease and were very wonderful and everything I needed at 4am with a sick furbaby. He's doing great today and they didn't try to convince me to spend money unnecessarily, which i very much appreciate. If you're freaking out and its past regular hours, GO HERE. read more

We have used Vergi twice, once when our dog had a severe allergic reaction and most recently to put our precious dog to sleep. They are professional, competent and compassionate. If you are ever in the unfortunate position of having to put your pet to sleep, this is the only place to do it. The front desk is the only weak area. I was carrying my dog in and had great difficulty getting the door open. It would have been nice if she could have helped with the door. The doctors and technicians are remarkable, They made a heart-breaking necessity as kind and gentle as it could have possibly been. read more

Very disturbing experience and $3500 in credit card debt for completely unnecessary abdominal surgery. We brought our one year old dog in to Vergi on a Friday evening because he was vomiting after receiving vaccines. We were worried that he might be having a reaction to the vaccine. The vet recommend an x-ray. She then said that the x-ray indicated it was likely that a rubber ball was in our dog's stomach and surgery was recommended. We asked if we could wait and have him observed to see if he improved, because he was not in any distress and his vitals were normal. The vet's response was that the longer we wait, the more damage could be done. We were scared by that statement and agreed to the surgery. WE thought it must be serious and life threatening if they don't want to wait a few hours to see how he might respond to anti-nausea medication and fluids. We agreed to the surgery. The surgeon found nothing. The surgeon said that the folds of a dog's stomach can be mistaken for a foreign object. The vet (Dr. Johnson) NEVER told us of that possibility. Our poor dog had a completely unnecessary and traumatic surgery so that this clinic could profit. Be very careful when this clinic recommends expensive procedures that could potentially harm your pet and cost you thousands of dollars. read more

Putting a dog down is one of the hardest things I've ever done. My girl Riley was almost 16 years old and I adopted her at 8 weeks. That's a lot of time to spend with a great friend. Having to make the excruciating decision that it was time to say goodbye was of course heart wrenching. Choosing a place to go (it was a Sunday and my regular vet is not open) was really important. There are many reviews out there so I wanted to share my experience with anyone having to make the same painful decision. The staff at VERGI were incredible. We came in and were immediately put in a room so we could spend some time with Riley. The vet tech came in to speak with us. She was so kind and warm (I wish I asked her name to thank her ) and thought that we should do the procedure on the floor because Riley was so weak. The vet came in and showed the same kindness, love and warmth to my friend. Riley died quickly, peacefully and with us surrounding her. I can't say enough wonderful things about the people at VERGI. My dog recently ingested part of a sago palm seed and almost died. His liver was already acting up when I took him to Vergi. I had only seen them when I would drive by, but they were the closest one open late at night. They immediately started treatment and kept me informed throughout the whole time Messi was there. Strangely, he wanted to stay longer and never seemed to mind when I left after a visit. That just means that he was getting the love we expect for our pets. read more

We had to take our 10 yr. old Shitzu, Sassy there last Sunday night, going in we had made the decision she had to be put to sleep. she was throwing up blood, she had been treated by our vet for pneumonia and she had taken a turn for the worse. We had called ahead. We we warmly greeted, taken back to a room. I was hysterical, everyone was very compassionate and understanding. I had called ahead and gotten a price, when we went to pay the actual charge was doubled. We did not question, we were just too upset. that would be my only negative about our experience. read more

My dog was somehow impaled on a stick and we had to rush her over to VERRG. I live close to Sugar Land where there is a nice hospital on 6, but decided to go with VERRG on I10 because that is where my vet suggested on his machine. The place was very clean and the staff was very nice. I felt like they checked us out in a timely manner and that the pricing was fare. $219 for a check up, sedation, antibiotics, pain meds and cleaning shaving of the site. This is cheaper than another place I had to take my cat to for a similar injury. Thanks VERRG for taking good care of my little girl! read more
