So we came here for an in-store exchange. The price has since gone up (compared to the online price), but Breanna honored the original price and got a new unit in store. She processed the exchange efficiently. A big thank you and shout out to Breanna. Next, Keshawn in the appliance department deserves special kudos and thanks. He came to our home to do measuring and in-home consultation. Even before his arrival he was already quite communicative both on SMS texting and email. After the consultation we followed him to the store to select a unit that fits the space. The whole process--complicated as it is--turned out to be pleasant, efficient, and enjoyable thanks to Keshawn's knowledge and responsiveness. No pressuring, no up-selling. And he knows the ordering system and process well. The downside is that after placing our order we have to wait for 6 weeks for it to be delivered. While in store for the exchange we stopped by the appliance department, and Keshawn happened to be in! He recognized me and helped me look up our order to see if there's any progress. It's now in the warehouse waiting "fulfillment", hooray. This BestBuy is clean, well organized, and staffed at a good level (by post-pandemic standards). There's always someone at the door to greet you as you enter. Why four stars? Well, because this review reflects my mixed experience in the past 5 years. We ordered a washer and dryer before, and while the ordering experience was alright, the delivery experience was not. The truck got here, and since they did not heed our plea to come with a smaller truck due to the height limit of the garage, the big truck could not fit. The driver did not even bother calling us. He just drove away with our order. It took us forever to even track him down, and it became a comedy of errors of kicking footballs among various departments. We had to come into the Best Buy in person to fish our order out of the newly formed black hole. Our order was sitting idle, unclaimed, not even tagged with our names. It took forever to then rearrange delivery with a smaller truck. Let's hope things are on the mend this time.

The installer is extremely RUDE, and first refused to bring the microwave to the second floor where my kitchen is. Then he insisted to only install the microwave in recirculation mode, despite the fact that there is already ventilation for him to connect. After about 45 minutes he finished the work, he asked for bathroom. So I pointed to him the bathroom next to the kitchen. He spent about 5 minutes in there took a dump. When he comes out, he left pee on the floor! I am completely speechless about what happened today. So here is the lesson I learned. Just buy appliances from either Home Depot or Costco and have your contractor install them for you. Do NOT buy anything from Best Buy, unless you are really into cleaning other people's bodily fluid!

Mark literally bent over backwards to help us diagnose and fix the issue. I kept thinking "can you imagine if we had purchased through Best Buy and tried to get help 18 months after the purchase?" On the positive side, the in-store experience was pleasant. I knew exactly which TV model I wanted, and the salesperson was friendly and efficient in getting everything checked out and scheduled for delivery. My only feedback on the purchasing experience is that the store prominently advertises "lower in-store prices" on every page of their website, yet I discovered after my purchase that I had paid more than the online price. To their credit, the manager refunded the difference when I pointed it out, but the website claim feels disingenuous and highlights a communication gap within the company. The real issues began with the TV mounting service. When purchasing the TV, I made it clear I did not need any outlet run or extra electrical work--just a straightforward mounting. Unfortunately, the installers drilled unauthorized holes in my accent wall and ran the TV's power cable behind the wall in a way that violates Fairfax City electrical code (NEC 400.8 is clear on this point). While they insisted this is "common practice," it's still a liability issue and something that should have been discussed with me first. Especially when drilling holes into a customer's accent wall where an unsightly wall plate was not wanted. Additionally, the wall plate installed under the TV was secured improperly--directly into drywall instead of using a bracket--meaning it will eventually loosen and fall out. For the hole they drilled behind the TV, they installed no wall plate at all. They also left the work area messy: drywall dust on the mount, dusty handprints on the back of the TV and the power cable, and marks on my freshly painted accent wall. Most disappointing, they scratched the back of the TV on both sides while installing the mounting rails. While the store refunded the installation fee after I raised these concerns, they never truly acknowledged the poor workmanship or the code and liability issues their install practices created. I spent far more time fixing the aftermath than I would have if I had mounted the TV myself--and my TV now has blemishes that reduce its resale value which the store also refused to acknowledge. Overall, while the purchase started well, the installation was the worst I have experienced. A company's true colors show in how they respond to legitimate concerns, and unfortunately The Big Screen Store fell short. I hope they take this feedback as an opportunity to improve communication, installation standards, and accountability.
