This is a nice store with a cordial staff that offers consistent advice and assistance. This afternoon and evening Gary helped me set up an IPhone 8 upgraded from an IPhone 6. He then cleaned my old phone. All of this proved to have unexpected hiccups. Gary was patient and good humored throughout the hour plus it took to get it all organized. My whole family has used Verizon phones (we have different types) for years, and we like this location particularly. It is true the restroom is now off limits but the store has had a lot of problems so I give them a pass on that. Like any store it's best to pick a less busy time if at all possible. Still I have been there at busy times and have found it well organized in addressing crowds. Recently a lot of comfortable furniture has been added. I would also say that Verizon phone tech support has also been consistently good for my family. read more

My fiance and I dreaded the merger of cell phones. I had AT&T--which has ABOMINABLE reception just about everywhere for a blackberry. She had great coverage with Verizon. We both needed new devices; I needed a new provider. But the downtown DC Verizon stores kept us away for months. On the theory that service is really better outside of the city, we ventured up this past Sunday. Being a misanthrope, I figured I would get infuriated at some mindless bureaucratic procedures, after standing in line waiting for service for hours. Instead, in spite of a number of people in the store, we were helped within 10 minutes. The woman who helped us was FANTASTIC--competent, thorough, a problem solver, and NICE. It was unbelievable. An hour later, I had a fully functional IPhone, my fiance had a fully functional blackberry, and I almost didn't want to leave the store. This was, bar none, the most pleasant service store experience I've had in the last 5 years. I had called the store earlier and had found out they had my battery in stock. I knew exactly what I needed. I walked in and was greeted by two guys at the door who typed in my info in the kiosk. They told me to have a seat and someone would be right with me. Ten minutes went by and nobody helped me. Keep in mind the store is more or less empty. During this time the fios manager was also hanging by the front door doing absolutely nothing. I asked the three of them if they could just ring me up a battery real quick unfortunately they couldn't. After about 25 minutes someone finally helped me and they were more or less pleasant Overall I think I waited too long to get a battery which was displayed right behind the registers. I came in on a super busy Saturday morning and the manager flashed my firmware and transferred my contacts -- for free (contacts are normally $10 for a manual transfer). It did take them about 15 minutes to make it through the other two people ahead of me, but as I say, they were busy. Also, he did all of my tech troubleshooting in under 30 seconds, including my explanation of it, so now I know how long it really takes to fix a phone! So maybe if you want good service, come when they're expecting to be busy and have a full house of staff? Most of my other trips have been when the store is empty (like evenings on a weekday, late). I hate going to verizon it always takes forever but after visiting this one I have changed my opinion. The employee that helped me was Sesar Escabar I believe and was Awesome! Ask for him if you go there and I promise he will be quick and make you laugh! Bad part about is that I had a past due balance and the manager wanted to charge me 5 bucks to print it out!! This is not about the store, but the company. It is a warning not to get the triple play bundle in any form. The 2 year contract is not worth it. The cable service is worse than comcast even. Get only the internet. I would advise getting directtv, or even just buy rabbit year antennas would be better. The interface of their cable boxes is painfully slow, DSL web browsing is faster. I am stuck in the contract (early termination fee is $360, decreasing by $15 a month), otherwise I would cancel my cable service immediately. If you like Verizon, as a phone company, raise your hand, then whack yourself in the head. Now that I got that off of my chest, let's begin with this store. Employees at this store are not what you would expect from Verizon or any large company or any commissioned sales person. They are actually extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I was there to fix a problem with my phone, and after fixing the problem, I ended up fixing other things w/ my accounts and ended up saving thousands of dollars a year. (this had to be done later online, so they weren't necessarily making extra commission). Just a heads up, if you are planning to go on weekends, there will be a couple of hours of wait. So you can sign in, and go catch a movie in Bethesda, and make it back just in time. read more

General review of Verizon fios. I was with Verizon for many years, and in the last six five months I had Fios outage every two weeks and version not able or capable to solve the problem. What is most frustrating is that they leave me without service for days on end because despite his being a chronic problem and send technicians only next days or in a day or sometime after the weekend! Incredibly frustrating! In addition every time I call it is never less than an hour that I have to waste to schedule a technician, in addition to all the time I spend online going through useless troubleshooting tools. What's a pout of paying 100usd a month for a WiFi and get outages every 10 days for days on end! So many systems in the residence depend on WiFi this days. The last straw: today I rearranged my schedule to be home and wait for a technician and he/she is a no show! Their service reps are extra nice and professional but dispatch service is separate and is horrible! read more

This is the best cellphone store I have ever been in. The service is fast, employees are friendly, lots of places to sit while you wait. There is a parking lot to the left side of the store (when you are facing the store front) that has reserved spaces for Verizon customers. This store gets crowded on the weekends, so I recommend coming as close to opening time as possible. read more

If I could give the service I received from Philip Deke one thousand stars I would. He is one of the kindest, most compassionate and professional human beings I have ever encountered. Verizon is absolutely privileged to have him as a manager, and should give him a promotion based on merit. I bought a new phone at a different Verizon store out of state. The friendly woman who sold me the phone said I would do all the set-up at home and it would be "so easy." After days of trying to set it up, meticulously following the step by step directions, hours on the phone with Verizon support I still could not get my new phone operational. I teach very tech savvy AP students and even they could not troubleshoot the issue. When I arrived at the store I was at my wits end. I was initially told after waiting for more than half an hour I would need an appointment. Then the gentleman said he'd talk to his manager. I was upset and angry and instead of being rude or condescending Philip took the time to help me get my new phone working despite me being less than polite at the beginning of our encounter. He even boxed up my old phone with packing tape and label and sent me to the Staples up the street to make sure it was returned properly. Philip, you're a special person! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I've found my new Verizon home here in Maryland, and if I ever need help I am coming back to see Philip. read more

My son and I just switched from a different service provider to Verizon so we both needed new phones. I cannot tell you what a wonderful experience it was shopping at this specific store. They did not try to upsell us or convince us to purchase extras that we did not need. Both LaJuan Green and Ruben Moore (You must ask for either one when you go in) were friendly, helpful, listened to our needs to help select a phone, and explained how everything worked. Worst Service Ever!!!! First, they kept me waiting forever. Then, they helped me in a hurry even when I was about to buy a smart phone and a two-year contract. Lastly, they towed my car from the Verizon Parking despite the fact I was in the Verizon store all along, and after that I had to go get the car to the middle of nowhere and pay the towing fee, for which they refused to reinburse me under the excuse that I must have left the store at some point, which is not even true. I have gone in here twice in the last 2 weeks. Both times employees met with friendly greetings and willingness to assist. I found their associates to be knowledgeable, receptive, and helpful. I haven't always had such good luck at other Verizon stores in the past, but I think that they have really made improvements to their customer service the past year or so. I've noticed at the Verizon store downtown, as well, they are also fairly efficient and the employees will take their time to get to understand my questions and give thoughtful answers. (Keep in mind this is just based on service in the store, not actually about the technical service, for which I am 50-50, but of course am locked in because of the monopoly of cell /internet service, and our family plan has us locked in.) I have been to this store twice, and each time have come away angry and annoyed. The service is much better in the Maryland DMV. Last time I went, problems included: (1) ) being told by them I needed to come into the store to do the transaction, and then when I went there, being told (incorrectly) I had to do it on the Verizon website; (2) universally rude and unhelpful employees; (3) being told they didn't have access to the web in their store (which I needed to look something up) -- until I realized all their model iPads has active web access. I have been a Verizon customer for a little over two years. I recently began receiving upgrade eligibility notices. My wife and I visited this location to see what options were available. When checking in we were told that there was a half hour wait just to talk to someone! After 10-15 minutes, not a single customer had completed their transactions, and it was apparent that a 30 minute wait was an optimistic estimate just to begin the process. Our average verizon bill is $160.00 a month and luckily our contract is complete. Time to explore other carriers who may offer better plans and customer service. read more

At the Verizon Store on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland I was treated to a bellyful of aggression from the "greeter" at the door, a man named "Tommy." My visit related to iPhone damage. I explained I had driven to the store because the phone line wait at Verizon was extreme. Then I asked how much a new iPhone 4 would cost. When he said $550 I said - wow, really? "That's the price of the phone," he shouted while scowling. "That's how much the device costs. That's it. That's the price." I said - why are you shouting at me? I bought a new i-phone5 on Friday. The purchase price and the extra price for inclusion in my family data plan seemed good. But the instructions were less than rudimentary. I am a first-time i-phone user. I had cheerful service but no serious instruction. Fortunately the once-a-week class was that same evening. The class was for a group of 5 and lasted one hour. It left me incapable. By the way, they have only this one class per week and zero at a higher level. I returned two days later with questions. Store was empty at 9 a.m. opening. There were plenty of staff but almost solely to greet customers walking in for possible purchase. I had to wait 30 minutes, only to be told that they are not into device questions but only want to support the Verizon network. They told me to go to the Apple Store. I will. read more

We went to this store today to upgrade two of our phones and change our phone plan. It was busy and we were not surprised to have to wait We were a bit surprised at how grumpy the greeter (a man whose name tag read Tommy) seemed to be and at how little the customer service assistant who eventually helped us seemed to know about the phones. What really surprised me was being told that the one I eventually selected was in a box in the back but that they couldn't sell it to me because it hadn't yet been entered onto the store inventory list. The sales assistant seemed not to care at all that we had already spent an hour and a half trying to buy this phone. Her suggestion was that I go to another store or come back later. When I questioned whether those were the only options, she told me I "did not understand" how difficult it would be for them to get the phone out of the box to sell to me. Really? Eventually a manager agreed to go to the back, enter the phone on the inventory list and make it available to sell to us--a process that as best I can tell took no more than a minute or two. The store is nicely laid out, the prices were OK, and once we had our phones the customer service representative did a competent job of setting them up for us, but overall it was a pretty unsatisfactory transaction. Management at this store seems not to have communicated to the staff that serving the customers is their job. read more

The store is clean, well organized, and has parking. The staff is friendly and resolved an issue regarding my Droid RAZR to my satisfaction. Awful customer service. After spending 1 hour in the store, requiring business authorizations that were never required in any other store they sold me my phone. The first CSR I met started our relationship by explaining all the things he wouldn't do to help me set up my phone and basically I will be required to do it at home. I was the last one in the store, the doors were locked and I requested to use the bathroom explaining that I was recovering from surgery. They refused saying it was against company policy. I went into the Verizon store to buy a new phone. It was a Saturday afternoon, so there was a wait, probably ended up being 20-30 minutes. I was expecting that, or worse; most stores in downtown Bethesda are busy Saturday afternoons. But, while you wait, they post the names of everyone waiting in order, so you always know where you are in line. Once it was my turn, Marcellus helped me and he was awesome. Took his time explaining the various phones, talking about which phone might be best for me specifically, etc. He was very knowledgeable. Good customer service. Knowledgeable staff. 1 year ago I would've rather had my dentist remove 2 teeth than walk into this store with service problems on my cell phone. That's a little exaggerated but it was a frustrating store. I dragged my feet in there a couple months ago and Peter Traub came to me and asked how he could help me. My issue was resolved in less than 5 minutes and on top of that he said if I ever have any other issues to contact him directly. Being in a small business we have numerous phones, tablets and cable services. I could not be more pleased with Verizon now. I have since contacted Peter a few times with issues or with buying new products. He does all the hard work for me and has the issue resolved immediately! We had a terrible experience with Verizon Fios service in DC. We moved to DC about seven months ago, and decided to give Verizon Fios a try. After calling to be sure our apartment was covered by their service, they mailed out a box of equipment (router, etc.). Then, before they ever sent someone to do the connection, they called back to say they had made an error, and that our apartment actually wasn't within their coverage error. We asked them to get the box of equipment, since it's big and we didn't want to store it in our apartment. They suggested we return it to the nearest Verizon store, but that store is nearly a 30 minute drive from our house, and we don't own a car, so we said that wasn't really an option. Normally, they are able to generate and email a return shipping label, but they were having trouble doing that, so they said they'd look into it. INSTEAD, a few months later, we received a bill for more than $300 for "unreturned equipment." I called again, spent a bunch of time explaining the situation, and asking them to send a return address label. They said they were unable to generate a return address label, because we didn't have an account (even though there was one listed on the bill they had mailed us, they said that number didn't work to generate the return label). The representative we talked to agreed that we shouldn't have to pay to rent a car in order to return the equipment that Verizon had sent us in error. He said he would work on finding a way to generate a return shipping label and email it to us. INSTEAD, Verizon turned over our bill to a debt collector! Finally, my husband paid to rent a car and took an hour out of his day to return the Verizon equipment. But I am so frustrated with Verizon's inability to fix their own problem - essentially forcing us to pay $50 and spend an hour of our time to right their error - that I would never want to work with them again. Even if we are in a Verizon area in the future, I would not choose their service, and I would warn others to avoid them as well. read more
