I spend a lot for Verizon, and that should come with good service. Unfortunately from the get go I felt like I was bothering them because I wasn't getting a new phone or signing a new contract. It's all I can do not to write to Verizon and tell them they need to send secret shoppers in to evaluate. There is like 6 people working, yet I waited a while to be helped, and then so the lady who helped me was clearly bothered by my request. I am sincerely thinking of switching to a lower-cost cell phone provider. Verizon does have the best network, but is it worth paying double? I am increasingly less convinced it is. read more

Ok Verizon store, I've visited you a few times the past few months...wanting to chat with an expert about getting a Droid. Every time I walk in your doors I'm ready and willing to purchase a new phone on the spot. Do you hear me? On the stop I wanted to give you more money! But every trip has ended the same way, me with my pockets full and you with one more phone still in your storage. Why is this? Because your staff, albiet very nice don't have the knowledge to help me out. I was in the store yesterday - wanted to chat with someone about a Droid. Get an experts advice - i asked him how he picked his phone, he said he did a ton of research before he purchased it. Research as in reading online - um dude, don't you work at Verizon? shouldn't you know this stuff already? this was a sign that i needed to leave. Very poor customer service at this location. I would suggest going to the large Burlington Mall one or another location. I've gone in here a few times to ask questions or to take care of some phone issues. Each time the reps don't seem very eager to help you out even when the store it empty. Most of the time they seem to just hang out behind the counter and don't even look up to see if you need help. When you ask them questions they don't see to get why you're asking or try to provide the basic information you might need. For example, prior to the iPhone launch I asked "Can I get on a list for the new iPhone?" The girl looked at me like it was the dumbest question ever. We don't have a list she responded. Ok, fair enough. But do I really need to pose the basic follow up questions? What is the process, what are your hours the day of the launch, etc... I decided to wait for the iPhone 5 and then changed my mind on Friday when I realized I couldn't wait any longer. I walked in and asked for a new iPhone. Sweet, things have changed! Nope. While I was getting helped the rep helping me was complaining that his co-worker (who was talking to a customer on the phone) was loud and she needed to go home. Whatever. After the phone was set up the rep asked me to put in my iTunes username/password. No problem... except it didn't work. I said that I knew the u/p were correct and could it be a connection issue? Did you set up my phone already. "Yes" Since setting up phones is their JOB... I trusted them and said I would figure out the iTunes login problem at home. I got all the way home, set up my Wifi and logged into iTunes no problem. I still couldn't access the web when not on Wifi though. Tried to call them and MY PHONE DIDN"T WORK. Awesome. I don't have a land line so I had to drive back and find parking in Harvard Sq. I love looking for parking in Harvard. I explained that my phone (that I bought 30 mins ago) didn't work to the manager. He said, "Oh yeah, you aren't getting a 3G signal. I'll log you in have a tech look at it." You can't say I'm sorry you just dropped $300 and your phone doesn't work. I'll walk it back and take care of it right away?!? 5 mins later I'm still waiting and the rep from before finally notices me among the 3 other people walking around the store. He at least takes the phone, plays around with it and his computer, makes a call and hands it back to me. Magically it's now working. Doesn't explain what was the problem or say he's sorry. Instead I'm supposed to feel like a moron who can't make a call. Hey, he tried it twice before I left and it was working. (even though the correct iTunes didn't work and I couldn't make phone calls or connect to the internet.) Who cares I had to drive all the way back to the store. I'm sure it was pure coincidence that after his manager said it wasn't working and after he worked on it for a minute that it was working fine. Just a tip: Say you're sorry it doesn't appear to be working. I'm sorry you had to come all the way back here. It was working when I tested it in the store, but it's not working for you now. I admit, I broke my phone. I shoved the cord way too forcefully into the base of my phone breaking off some of the teeth in the dock. I did it, I admitted my fault and now I have to pay $50 dollars to get a new phone? Or do I? At this Verizon phone store customer service and customer happiness matters. I went into this store with low expectations--I had a problem with my phone's SD card and had been into a different Verizon store where they weren't much help but gave me a phone number to call and told me Motorola would take care of it. Well, I called the number and Motorola refused to do anything at all. So, I really only went in the store to price new SD cards and see if someone might help me install/format it. I was greeted by Sonney as soon as I walked in and he took care of everything! He got me a new card and set it all up and I walked out of the store with a fully-functioning SD card. The absolute worst Verizon store in case there was any question. Just about the only people who could make me feel terrible about everything on a 80 degree day in April. Unskilled, unhelpful, they leave you worse off than when you walked in. And unintelligible as in didn't know how to set up a new phone or find us the right case for our phone model. My blood is still boiling over this encounter. I'd basically recommend going to any other Verizon store or using their phone customer service and avoiding this location at all costs!!! read more

Worst internet installation experience ever had. In short, it took a whole month for me to get internet. Let me begin by saying that the customer service and mechanics are fine, but there're fundamental flaws with the scheduling system which led to my installation delayed 4 times. Allow me to break it down: 1st delay: I booked internet service on Verizon's website and called the credit verification center. I was told that I was all set and didn't need to worry about anything else. Then I kept getting email spams telling me that I had to call credit verification center otherwise my order would be canceled. So I did and was told that it's some system error. A few days after my move-in date, nothing happened. I called customer service and was told that I was actually supposed to schedule the installation myself. And the nearest installation is not available till a week later. 2nd delay: Before my scheduled installation, I kept getting text message spams asking me if I wanted to keep the appointment like twice a day. Is this frequency really necessary? The appointment was during week days. I asked for a short leave from work to open the door for the mechanic. I was hoping to get back to work when the mechanic told me that I actually had to stay there for the whole duration, much to my surprise, because the text message spams were not clear about this. The messages only said "Please ensure someone over 18 with access to the utility room is available", which I interpreted as "available to open the door" but not "present for the whole duration". I had a meeting so I had to re-schedule. Another 2 weeks of delay. 3rd delay: This time I picked a Saturday. The mechanic was very nice, but unfortunately he broke the one of the cables during installation. He told me he had to come back tomorrow with another guy. I don't blame him as accidents happen. 4th delay: I was called the following day by the dispatcher saying that they couldn't spare another mechanic at this time, even though my installation was supposed to be done the day before when the mechanic broke the cable and promised to come back right after. I had to reschedule. Another week of delay. 5th attempt: Finally got it done, but somehow it took 5 hours, from 9am to 2pm, on a Wednesday, after I was told that the remaining work only required 2 hours. I'm aware that sometimes one just gets unlucky. But I don't understand how a booking process/system so flawed and inefficient ever got in production. It shows a lack of common sense and customer care on a high level, which is more problematic than some random caller on a bad day. I'll be fair and say that so far I haven't got many problems with connectivity, besides the 1 month with no internet of course. read more

I'm told one thing by the verizon customer service chat person (and keep a record of it) and then when I go into the store I'm told they were wrong. "OK, well I have it written down as a record and came out here in a snowstorm, can you honor what your rep told me?" "No, but you can upgrade your plan to cover what they said" "Yes, but that's more money for less" "It's the only option." fast forward "OK, if I sign up and upgrade both of the lines tonight with what you discussed can you adjust the phone prices at all? The same phones on Amazon are $75-$100 cheaper...each" "We can't match prices" "Even though your CS rep lied to us and got us to come in?" "There's nothing I can do" "Could your manager adjust the price if we talk to him?" "I'm the assistant manager, we wont adjust the price" Super helpful. now the debate: jump ship and do something like T Mobiles $30 5gig 100 min plan or buy a couple phones out right and just activate them to keep our plans and the freedom to walk .....oh, and verizon now charges a $30 upgrade fee per line? You stay classy verizon. also protip: if you upgrade through amazon wireless the 14 day return policy starts the day them ship the phones... ------------------------------------UPDATE------------------------------------------- edit: Came home and booted up chat, confirmed again all the things the chat person told us. *This is a reply to a email from their store manager Dear Ryan, I'm a Verizon customer visited your store in Cambridge, MA, a couple of weeks ago. The reason that my husband and I gave a low score on your customer services resulted from a series of unpleasant services. Below are some highlights: 1. The first time we walked into your store to get a new phone, it was about 7 o'clock in the evening. After checking the inventory, one of your staff told us that you did not have the model we wanted, so she told us that we could either order online or go to another store. We then decided to order it online right there in the store. When we asked that whether she could give us a hand if we encountered any difficulty. She told us that SHE COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT OF THE STORE, and left. The reason we gave 6 out of 10 is because after that, she came back and helped us to order it anyway. 2. Two days after I got my new phone delivered to me, I noticed that the battery drained really quickly. I could lost about 30% of battery within an hour without using it. So I went back to your store to see whether I could have it checked. Upon arriving, one of your staff greeted me, and asked how he could help. So I told him that my battery drained really fast, and it was only 70% left about an hour after being fully recharged. Instead of helping me as he said, the first response I got was that "well, I only have 26% battery left on my phone." Well... good for you! However, I'm here to resolve an issue, not to enter into a stupid contest. 3. After learning about my issues, your staff agreed to offer me an exchange, with a cost of $35 restock fee for returning the phone! First of all, a consumer should be entitled to a return any unwanted purchase within a certain period of time. Second, I was not trying to return it because I changed my mind. It's because the phone Verizon sold to me is faulty!! Why should I pay for your mistake?! After rounds of going back and forth. I had the fee waived at your mercy, which should have never been brought up in the first place. 4. Your staff ordered the phone on a Thursday, but I didn't actually get the phone until the following Monday. Upon arriving, a different sales rep took my case. He went back to get the phone, with a note attached to it saying it was for me. However, he still couldn't just do the exchange. Instead, he interrogated me all over again about why I need an exchange and the $35 restock fee came back to this pointless conversation again!!! I HAVE EXPLAINED CLEARLY IN MY EARLIER VISIT. YOUR STAFF AGREED TO DO THE EXCHANGE. I GOT INTERROGATED AGAIN!! Do you not believe me, or do you think your colleague's judgement is questionable?! WHICH!? 5. Getting a new phone from you guys is difficult, but getting an exchange from you is nothing short of excruciating pain. During the entire time of exchange, your employee had a serious look on his face as he was really serious and professional... BUT, that turned out to be untrue as well. He finally gave me a smile at the end of the exchange, and I thought at least there was one human touch in the whole process. Really? Nope. Of course not. The only reason he smiled at me was because he was trying to sell me a device that I do not need! I made it clear the first time he asked, but wow wasn't he persistent! He tried another two times to sell me the same thing! After repeated confirmation that I would not buy it, he turned to other Verizon products, FIOS, landline... A full list of Verizon business. When I finally got out of your store, it felt like escaping from a death trap. We gave you 6 out of 10 for our first visit. I would revise that score to -6 out of 10 if I could. There's disappointment, there's deception, and there's Verizon's Harvard Square location. I went to Verizon to get a wifi hotspot. The sales guy, Nathan, first tried to sell me a device they no longer had in stock, then told me he'd waive the activation fee on a different device. He even gave me his business card and wrote "waive $35 act. fee" on the back just in case there was an issue. Unfortunately, the wireless device Nathan gave me was a dud. It disconnected from Verizon's network every few seconds, forcing pages to reload . . . which is a big deal when Verizon is charging you for data. Great for Verizon, but absolute robbery for a customer. And it turns out that, googling about for support, this was a known issue. Meanwhile, Verizon sends me a bill for $90+, including the activation fee that I had been told would be waived. So, I e-mail the store manager, Ryan, who offers to waive the activation fee if I let Verizon swap out the device, but otherwise claims to be powerless to waive the fee. So, in a nutshell, Verizon is selling a defective device, charging a fee for it that they claim they'll waive, and then insisting on charging you that fee anyway unless you keep working with them. I switched to T-mobile the same day, and the internet speed test showed that T-mobile's speed was four times faster than Verizon's, at $15 a month instead of $90. read more

I broke my phone, no insurance. I went in hoping to get a cheap phone I could put on my plan - they were SUPER unhelpful once it was clear they weren't going to get a commision off me. Told me to go get a used phone. When I asked for more details, they said "look online". Look - I don't know anything about phones and I don't care. I just want a phone to make calls and text. I don't care to figure out how to buy a used phone and activate it on your network, and I was willing to pay $300 to get a new-ish phone from you. God, it was INFURIATING how little they seemed to care or want to help. I ended up going to the main Verizon store on Boylston - they were great, super helpful, got me a new phone, insurance, and a case for about $350 total. I am not an iPhone or Blackberry girl. I just want to call and text--why is this so hard? I have been a Verizon customer for years, and am due for an upgrade. My husband and I stopped by here last night, and decided to see what basic phones they had to offer. As soon as I told the salesgirl what I wanted, she pointed at a small table of maybe 4 phones, told me to go to their website for a better selection, and walked away. Gee, thanks for the help. Two years ago, I had a great experience getting an Android phone. The staff was helpful, I benefited from a pricing error, and all was well. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I went in to buy an iPhone. Awful is an understatement. Here's what went down: The uninspired saleswoman walks up: "Can I help you?" Me: "Yup. I'd like an iPhone." Saleswoman: "Are you sure? Why do you want an iPhone?" Me: "What? Why do I want one? Um, because it's better." Saleswoman: "Are you sure? Do you know about 4G?" Me: "Yes. I want an iPhone." Saleswoman (now showing me the iPhone): "You'll have a lot of buffering with this. Do you know what buffering is? This Droid phone (pointing to some random phone) is better for music." Me: "I'd rather just have iTunes on my phone." Saleswoman (giving in): "Okay, let's set this up for you. Now, you need some accessories, right?" Me: "Yeah, but not here." Saleswoman: "Without a case, if you leave here and drop your phone, it'll cost you hundreds of dollars. Do you ever drop your phone?" Me: "Nope." Saleswoman: "I'll give you 20% off ..." Me: "Yeah?" Saleswoman: "... if you buy the case and three other accessories." Me: "Okay. I think I'm done. I'll go buy this online." We switched from Verizon to TMobile just before Christmas 2016. Everything worked great in SoCal. However, when we drove cross country for our daughter's graduation from Harvard TMobile service was terrible. We had spotty to no reception half the trip, we constantly dropped calls. We had made this journey several times with Verizon and had a wonderful experience. We switched to save some money. Verizon has similar pricing now as the the other service providers, so we switched back. Looking forward to an improved relationship. This actually started with Love, Franco, and Dianna at the Harvard Square Verizon store. They were wonderful and went way beyond to help my family. Verizon Wireless misled me about the price of a new phone for my son, and flatly refuses to make ANY effort to resolve the dispute. I expected to pay about $200 (after an upgrade), and I've been billed for $528. I have an upgrade available on my own line that, according to the Verizon Wireless website, provides a $300 credit towards the purchase of various phones. I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for more than a decade. I have a family plan, that has three (and has had as many as five) lines on the plan. I have never missed or been late for a payment in all that time. I have been through countless upgrades, and have NEVER had to return the old phone. In mid-August, my son had to replace his smartphone because it would not power on. He visited the store and selected a replacement. He told the agent that he'd like to use the upgrade that was (and is) available for my line (his phone was not yet eligible for an upgrade). The agent called me, and I made the same request to use the upgrade available on my line for his new phone. The agent said, several times "Fine, no problem". The agent then asked me a dizzying series of questions about new data plans, choices, data limits, etc., etc., etc. By the end of the conversation, we had changed the plan to allow more data and cost less. So far, so good. He said nothing about more about the phone. I received NO written communication from Verizon Wireless about the new phone. The very first written communication I got was in my September 3rd statement, and even there it is absolutely BURIED in the depths of the new "consumer friendly" format. I had to pass the URL to the agent on the chat so that she could find it! The bottom line of all this is that: 1. Verizon Wireless now requires that a working phone be physically turned in to qualify for any upgrade. This is a new change that was NOT communicated to my son or to me. 2. The agent was either not properly trained about the new policy or willfully misled me in order to close the deal. 3. Verizon customer support was and is flatly unwilling to make ANY adjustments at all. In my view, this is a classic ripoff. I am astonished and disappointed that Verizon Wireless is willing to jeopardize my entire account over a dispute that can be settled with a $200-$300 credit. I pay Verizon Wireless more than ten times that each year, and have been doing so for more than decade. If you have ANY choice, I suggest avoiding Verizon Wireless. This exemplifies why the entire cellphone industry desperately needs increased government oversight. This is a ripoff and a fraud, as well as being an abysmally bad business practice. A simple credit of $300 could have solved this issue. If you visit this store, get EVERYTHING in writing. EVERYTHING. read more

Usually I only get the best customer service at VZW stores, but after looking at this location's reviews, I attempted to make my changes online. Unfortunately, it required me to go in the store, and guess what? Excellent, friendly service!! Super helpful and knowledgeable with updating a government employee discount thingy. She was in a hurry to get rid of us and did not try to understand our simple situation (trying to recharge a SIM card). From the outside this store looks clean and up to date, and it looks like you will have lots of options. But you won't. They're are 100% not there to offer any kind of technical assistance beyond "hard reset" and replacing the battery, and they are definitely not there to sell you anything less than the most expensive product with the highest-cost plan attached. My husband and I were there today to deal with two different phone issues, and hoping to spend in the range of $200-300 but prepared to spend in the range of $400-500 to get them dealt with. If the staff had been helpful, kind, and concerned with what we needed, we would have done that -- but instead we found them to be condescending, indifferent, and completely unwilling to view our business as worth keeping. Without hashing through all the details, options that would have worked for us include having one of the phones repaired, purchasing a cheap phone at radio shack for one of us, or (what the company finally recommended when we called Verizon) filing a warranty claim with the company since one of the phones appears to have a manufacturer's defect just outside of the warranty period. Instead, we are researching the best way to get out of a contract with Verizon forever, and I will never go to a Verizon retail store again, particularly not THIS bunch of scammers. read more

So about 2 weeks ago I was in Harvard square in the snow storm doing some Christmas shopping (which was a little insane, but that's a different story) and I remembered that I needed a new phone charger. I'm tired and annoyed already from shopping so I was not in the mental state to be figuring out what charger goes with my phone. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the store was very nice, easy to get around and the people there were SO helpful. They guy who waited on me was great. He stopped me from buying the wrong charger and he even have me a free case for my phone (some promo they were doing). I am usually scared of cell phone store customer service, but I just had a surprisingly good experience speaking to Dan at the Harvard Square Verizon store. Say what you will about the company overall (and I've probably said it too, at some point), but on a micro level today, I left with exactly the information I wanted, without feeling pressured to buy goods or services I didn't want or need. I came in to ask about international service for upcoming trip to Canada, and he told me about all my options. I concluded that I probably didn't need to buy any extra services or international plans, and he agreed that that would probably work out fine and even suggested making calls via Skype on a wireless connection while I was there, if I needed to make a call. I always appreciate a salesperson who can keep it real. There was also no line at all; the store was almost empty, at 1:30 on a weekday. No kiosk check-in necessary; he just greeted me as I walked in. I was expecting hordes of people on their lunch breaks! read more

After spending hours on the phone with a Verizon Customer Service robot, I decided to drop by a Verizon Wireless retail store to return my iPhone 6. When I entered the store, I was greeted by a professional and friendly rep named Nathan. Nathan listened to my issue, and initiated the return process. When confronted with Verizon Return Process Red Tape, Nathan escalated the issue to his manager. Unfortunately, given that the VZ Customer Support robot had screwed up the returned process, the only way to complete the return was to print out a return label and ship the device back to the VZ Return Dept in Fort Worth, TX. Verizon Wireless is the most unprofessional company I have ever encountered. Case in point: I was moving and wanted to cancel my account, but of course you can not do this online, and have to call and talk with an agent (and wait for 45 minutes). Despite ensuring that my account was cancelled, and that they would send me a box and/or labels to return the modem (so that I'm not charged $200), they never did. I continued to have payments taken out of my checking account, and never got the box. I first emailed Verizon asking for a box, and they wrote back saying that I had to call. So I did call, but the agent said that my account did not exist (while at the exact same time I was on my Verizon account online, staring directly at my account number and payments) and that there was not a supervisor that I could talk with. Verizon also charged me for $39.99 twice in the same month but since they couldn't find my account, they couldn't fix the extra charge. At this point, I just wanted to be done with the whole thing and remove my bank information so that I could prevent Verizon from continuing to charge me, but when I tried to edit my bank info I got an error message saying that they could not access it at this time. If you want to maintain your sanity and live a happy life, I strongly suggest that you avoid using Verizon as your provider. read more

Just went to Verizon in Harvard Square to buy two i phones for my daughters. First, the greeter when you enter the store ignore us, after waiting a few minutes I went up to " the greeter" and she told me I was suppose to sign in { in a computer}. Finally, our names were call. The salesperson brings us to the computer station and asks us for personnel information with literally another customer next to me. {So close that our shoulders could touch}. I whisper to her that I do not feel comfortable saying my information in front of strangers. She then just repeated my information aloud. I just walked away and let my daughters finish the order. I would have walked out, but they needed the phones and we all know our time is precious. After purchasing the phones, they could not transfer the contact information from a Verizon phone to the new i phone because something was wrong. Gave and the phone and walk away. DO NOT get in bed with this company for home phone, internet and wireless. Direct TV is awesome and you should give them your $$ separately. I have had so many problems that I cannot even begin to list them. They are not customer focused, they treat you like a criminal and will extort as much money from you as possible, even after you cancel your service. read more

I went into this store today in hopes of getting a new phone, as well as having a question about taking ownership of my number onto my own line (currently one my dad's plan). Ronnie helped me and he was SO professional, personable, and helpful. He helped me get what I needed and answered all of my questions for me. Do not shop here. The customer service rep we worked with here (Megan) lied to us about prices. Specifically, when we discussed pricing with her, she neglected to tell us that we would be charged a $25 activation fee on the phone (which we did not find out about until we got our first bill). The manager refused to refund our money and accused us of lying. To top it off, they ordered us the wrong phone. Do not buy anything here. read more

The amount of up-selling in this store is astounding. I needed to get a new phone after two years. After I decided which one I wanted and the salespeople went to ring it up, they "slipped" into the conversation that they would automatically sign me up for monthly insurance because "it's an expensive phone." When I asked what the insurance covered they quickly said, "everything." Then I asked a few questions. Does it cover my phone if I drop it in the toilet? NO. Does it cover my phone if I drop it on the ground and break it? NO -they will change the screen if you need that (for $30), but beyond a screen, NO. So I asked what it covered then, since these were the 2 most likely scenarios. Again they said, "everything." I decided NOT to get the insurance. Then they slipped in that dumb screen cover, after I'd decided to buy a $60 case that would protect it if I dropped it. I asked why I needed the $13 cover. They said it would protect it if I dropped it. I said I just bought this $60 case. They had no answer to that. I have been going to this store for over 5 years with no problem. My guess is that the salespeople are being compensated now by commission. Or they have simply had "training" that directs them to rip off customers and charge them for ridiculous stuff they do not need. Buyer beware when you go into this store! DO NOT BUY THE INSURANCE. It is a horrible deal, and makes Verizon's shareholders happy, and will do little, if nothing, for you. read more
