While living in Hawaii, I left Verizon for T‑Mobile because believe it or not, T‑Mobile actually worked better on the island. When I moved back, I assumed Verizon would still be the stronger carrier. Wrong. If you know me, you know I don't tolerate anything that doesn't serve me. Marriage, relationships, bad service... I'll exit stage left with no hesitation. I made the mistake of switching from T‑Mobile to Verizon, but it only took 12 months to correct it. The service was terrible, and for a carrier that charges premium prices, the experience was anything but premium. Now, about the in‑store customer service: It was... decent. I arrived an hour before closing, and even though I should've been next, another customer was helped first. The assistant manager announced that skipping me was "the correct order," which made no sense. Thankfully, the actual manager explained the mix‑up and was kind about it. With several vacations planned through September and knowing Verizon offers nothing close to T‑Mobile's international perks I switched back. In true Nessa fashion: divorce finalized. Verizon has the worst service in the DMV. I took a last‑minute getaway and refused to give them another dollar so I quickly switched! They're expensive, and I'd rather support a company that actually works. And for my Verizon WiFi loyalists: I even changed my WiFi provider, and everything at the new company is better. If you're still with Verizon... make the switch. Grass is greener on this side! Life lesson: Leave anything that doesn't satisfy you. And when you take the trash out, don't hesitate. If someone else wants what you threw away, let them have it, some people mistake your discarded scraps for treasure because they've never had anything better or simply put, it's their only option. The service was professional and friendly but the Verizon processes and technology required to acquire a phone need serious work. Verizon computers repeatedly froze up during the sign up process and our helpful but justifiably drained Verizon staff member, had to check with his unseen manager for 10 minutes, three separate times. We simply wanted to buy a phone, and pay for the whole thing, for our nephew to replace his phone that broke on the Appalachian Trail. After an hour, we believe it was perhaps done except Verizon won't actually sell you a freaking phone. They require you to make payments. Plus, they don't have any phones in inventory. Plus, they are apparently required to try to sell you crap you don't want. They were even required to offer services to my wife and I which we declined, repeatedly. We all had to listen to multiple offers unrelated to the simple desired transaction we actually wanted to perform. Meanwhile, we couldn't read and accept incredibly lengthy terms and condition sheets due to the computers locking up, over and over again. What a struggle! All this hassle, for more than an hour, just to buy a phone, which they didn't have. Life is good with telecommunications. Verizon leadership... please go to a Verizon store and try to buy a phone with Verizon service. I dare you. read more

My old iPhone went bad. I just needed to trade up to a new one. The people are very nice. However, I've already had to go there three times and I'm going on the fourth because they keep messing up. The first time, with the assistant manager (helping a trainee), it was just that I had asked to pay up front and she signed me up for an installment plan, which ends up being more expensive. Other than that, she was quite good, number crunching for me how the options on a piece of paper. I remarked how Verizon wasn't making her job easy. The second time I was served by the trainee, who fixed that but somehow I was now signed up for a second line, doubling my bill. I don't know who did that. The third time, the trainee said the manager was in back fixing it. A week later, I just got a very expensive bill for a second line. I'm going to have to go back tomorrow and demand to see the manager in person and let him have a piece of my mind. The biggest problem here is that they don't give you a receipt. You think you signed up for one thing and you don't find out till later that you signed up for something else. I started as a very happy five-star customer. I am now a very pissed off one-star customer. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Or expect to make this your second home. update: I went to talk to the manager. He was very defensive and made no apologies or even expressions of regret that I had a bad experience. It looks like I misread my bill and the second line, now cancelled, was adding $18.17 rather than $60+ because it did get cancelled, but I'm still left getting charged for a service I didn't want. The response on yelp was much more conciliatory. I wish he had been like that in person. Anyway, according to my records, I've been a Verizon mobile customer for at least 22 years. Don't do it, the customer service here is soooo bad. I went in for a early upgrade which means I was bringing money to them and they legit just took the money and sent me on my way with my phone. I wasn't able to get it working until the following day for various reasons. I upgrade with every iPhone and they usually help me open and setup my phone. This was the biggest waste of my time I could have had a better experience ordering the phone over the phone and letting them mail it directly to me. If you are interested in getting any help or service I suggest the Laurel location. They are smaller with less inventory but the staff is much more personable. read more

Mom and I went here to get our new iPhones - everything that could DID go wrong. Eventually even the staff were frustrated with the VZW management team on the phone. We left thinking they had finally sorted it out some 2hrs plus later but nope. More headache in the coming weeks when we got home! After being VZ & VZW customers since 1999, we fully left the company! Imagine our shock and surprise to pack up our iPhones, head down the street & find ourselves paying no extra taxes, fees, nonsense always landing us near $200/mon for the first time in decades! Literally $70 and not one dime more comes out of our account each month -and- if we can be bothered to go into the store, there's freebies every Tuesday?! My sister just got a set of movie tickets! Had a crazy issue activating a phone that was completely my fault by transferring the line to prepaid and then wanting to transfer it back. Dia was excellent in how she handled the situation that almost 24 hours of consecutive chats couldn't accomplish yesterday. I should have just gone here first and it would have been resolved. Beware of sneaky sales tactics. I lost my phone in December 2019 and I went to the closest store I could find to get a replacement. I purchased a new phone. But I also got a "free" tablet. I didn't want or care about the tablet. But I was eager to get out the door and did not object-- that was my mistake. This "free" tablet came with a 2 year monthly service contract with a hefty cancellation fee. I was NOT told that. Had I known I would never have taken the piece of crap that's still sitting in the box, that I will now pay for in services fees many times what the thing is actually worth. TRAP! FOLLOW UP: shortly after posting this review in April, I got an email from Verizon: "Hi Patrick, we're sorry to hear about the miscommunication regarding your purchase. This store used to be fine but now it has horrible service. I waited in line for almost 30 minutes and the employees have no sense of urgency. Question:  Who is your mobile service provider???   In the next call out to terrible business practices, I'm pointing the finger at Verizon Wireless.  I have been with Verizon Wireless a long time and with Verizon Fios on and off for approximately  7 years. I have not upgraded my wireless phone in quite awhile because I didn't feel the need.   Last night, I decided to follow through and finish an upgrade I started a few weeks ago.. I go online to place the order, but they are sold out online.  I begin a virtual chat with a Verizon rep and they tell me the phone is available at a location a little farther away in Edgewater, MD.  The agent suggests I complete the order online with him and go pick up the phone the next day (today).  I complete my order last night including paying the taxes on the phone.  Today, I took a break from a busy day to go pick up the phone and I'm told that the agent was wrong and that the phone he saw was being held for someone else.  One salesperson interjects and states that he cancelled my order this morning.  I tell the other salesperson, I received no cancellation and was told a phone was here for me.  He checked and the cancellation was not put through.  The manager says he will help find a way to order the phone and have it delivered to the store.  He then says, he will just sell me the phone that they have in store but they will have to cancel my order from last night and complete it as an in-Store upgrade.  Fine.....I was fine with that, even down to paying the taxes again and waiting for the taxes paid last night to be refunded.  The salesperson goes through the process of upgrading my phone and we get down to me signing the new agreement.  ALWAYS READ WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING!!!!  I read the information and notice there is a $200.00 difference in what I was charged last night versus what they were charging me in the store.  I question the increase and showed the salesperson what I paid last night.  He goes to his manager and comes back and says, the online price and the store price are different.  So now I'm pissed, because why would they cancel my order from last night and then try to charge me an additional $200.  I was told there was nothing they could do and basically if I wanted the phone I'd have to pay the full price.  This is price manipulation and gouging at its best.  Verizon and Victra(Exclusive contractor of Verizon), your business practices are terrible and probably borderline illegal, if not immoral.  I pay almost 8 grand a year for cellular service with 3 lines and for my cable, internet and home phone.  I will be cancelling EVERYTHING with Verizon attached to my name. #UntilYouDoRightByMe #CanYouPointMeToAT&T read more

My Favorite Verizon store went to being my primary "the one to get with" to my "what kind of sh*t is this" store in like 6 months. So what does it take to mess up a good thing? Read below: 1. A new manager that is cold and indifferent to what is going on with his staff. Excuses are tools for the weak dude! 2. Staff that care more about what coat your wearing, your hair, and your purse moreso than getting you useful information like 'hey you can save 10% on your wireless bill, because you work for the government or a specific company'. 3. Staff that has been transferred in from stores that do not know the policies and procedures of their new location, only to respond to you by saying, "I don't know how they do things here"? And then don't even follow up to find out how things are done here?! 4. Staff that lacks a sense of urgency and are okay with the fact that they are using defective portable tablets to process your order to overnight your phone, even though they knew there was a glitch and processing your order on the shady tablet would ensure no guarantee that the order would go through. (So I'm back in there Thursday night because I still have no phone) 5. Totally okay with seeing you come back the next day to go thru the process of overnighting another phone just to screw things up so you don't get one until 4 days later. Yeah, no phone from Wednesday till that following Tuesday communicating thru email and Facebook. 6. Totally giving women in technology a bad name. Like the only thing we care about are clothes, hair, reality shows, makeup, and WE know in our heart of hearts that this is not the case, but 4 of em' in a row during 2 visits talking the same stuff?? It was hard for me to refrain from less than kind words I dare not say, but they "danced in my head like sugar plums" as I was emailing and facebooking the entire weekend. By Saturday I had had it, went to the Bowie branch to get backup info only to find out about the 10% I was not getting and the fact that the College Park/nxt to Ikea Branch could have eaten a charge of $15 to overnight my phone that late Thursday, so I would have still gotten my replacement by Friday! Phone was supposed to be cheaper than all other plans made it sound so nice bill was supposed to be around 80-90 was one 120 (got new phone) not to crazy then all they do is drop it 8$. 113 averages over the year. Two weeks ago my son dropped and broke his phone so I decided to get him a replacement or upgrade. I coparent so his account was in his mother's name. I wanted to get the phone he had or an upgrade in the same model. They had several models on display but did not have many to chose from in the store at that time. I needed get him something right away because he travels to school alone and we needed something incase of emergency. The young lady that helped us seemed to be annoyed by my questions and my presence in the store. She appeared agitated and very unfriendly. I have done customer service for over 30 years. Your employees are the front lines of your company. Making customers feel like you are knowledgeable, informative, and willing to assist are key in my opinion. I don't know anything about Verizon wireless account options or phones. I was hoping to be helped on understanding our options on replacement. I left more confused then before and just picked a phone that was available. It was right before close, and she just wanted us out of the store. I came back on 11/06 because my sons mother wanted a different phone for our son. I just wanted to know again what our options were. I was told that the model of phone that he currently has is discontinued. When I entered the store the young lady at the front desk had a very unpleasant demeanor. I felt it as soon as I opened the door. So I waited for eye contact before I said hello. My current employer trains us in micro aggression in the work place. She obviously could benefit from this training. Her tone and attitude was awful. She told us to sit down then forgot that we were in the store. I had to go and find someone to help us. The sore only had 2 customer but had 6 employees. The young lady was standing there talking to another coworker about moving in with her boyfriend instead of helping us. Then we got the young lady from two weeks ago to help us. She was more rude this time rolling her eyes the entire time she was helping us. Thank you for making it easy for me to never ever want to do business with Verizon every again. My job in the fed govt involves provisioning mobile devices for our staff. I walked into the Verizon store in Laurel,MD (14613 Baltimore Ave) on January 31st. I dealt with a knowledgeable sales rep. David. When I walked into the store, I was surprised to see the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro display case empty. I was informed the phones had been stolen. I had researched tHe items I needed, so an order was placed. I communicated that I needed order soon. David said it would be in no later than Monday and he would call me. By that evening my husband received a email the phone was being shipped out that afternoon and would arrive on Tuesday not Monday. It had my address and two NEW phone numbers assigned that I did not request. I immediately called David who explained the phone was being shipped to the store not my home and the phone numbers would be changed back to my current number once it arrived. It is now Tuesday, I received an email stating the the phone was delivered to the store 10 am this morning. I called David, he never returned my call. I called the store at 7:15 pm and ask for David who was not there and they didn't know if he would be the the next day. I was told there was no manager there for me to talk to. There was only two people working there and they could not help me. Do I need to purchase two high costs items from a place with poor customer service? NO. I conduct my business somewhere else. Today, this store sold $3000.00 in iPhones and an iPad to someone posing as my husband. His password WAS NOT verified. My husband got notified of the purchase and immediately called the location to learn what happened. Not only was the location unhelpful, they were rude and insolent towards him and the nightmare they helped create. All they (including the store manager) cared about was covering themselves. He had to call Verizon corporate to learn the next steps. Next, he had to file a police report. All over the incompetence of the individuals working in this store. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for cell service, this location doesn't care one bit about anything other than covering themselves. What a joke. Update: The associate that did not follow security protocols was named Erick. He did not confirm our pin number. He did not ask for secondary ID. He simply indicated that the persons name matched the ID given. Wow, what great training and security Verizon! I have yet to find out the Manager's name, but once I do, I will post that information as well. As shown, a Business Manager replied to my post. This individual offered no assistance (other than apology and sympathy) or recourse to get our money back. While I am thankful for a reply, actions speak louder than words. We are now working with Verizon fraud and Verizon wireless social media to get the specifics of what happened and help us get compensation for this nightmare Erick and this store has caused my husband and I. This was a colossal security failure on behalf of Verizon, this retail location and its' inept, poorly trained, rude and combative employees. Take my advice, stay away and go elsewhere. read more

I visited the store.. prepared to repurchase the item, but to my surprise they replaced the malfunctioning out of warranty item. Totally caught me off guard, in the best way. I worked for 31 years in Customer Service and the store is one of the poorest I've ever come across. The young lady that helped us had such a bad attitude as if she was mad that we came in there. Not once but twice when we came in there still unprofessional. The woman at the very front was really rude to us as well when we walked in on another occasion. She told us to sit in the back and then forgot that we were back there and multiple people came in and took our place. Please avoid Verizon on Baltimore Avenue!!! In this fast pace hustle and bustle society that we live in it is easy to sometimes forget to take of certain things. Such as paying your phone bill OOOooooppppps there it is. Since I always keep forgetting to set up my online payment through my bank directly to them, so therefore I must make a slight detour on my way to or from the office. Before I had to go to the Rockville location or the one in Laurel but now well for the past couple of years this new location had emerged on the College Park scene right next to the "Buffalo Wild Wings" place (one day I'll remind myself to Yelp about that as well). Besides paying my.... eh.... ahem "forgotten bills" here I've also had my phone looked at when I had trouble getting my hands free device to sync up with my phone. They were able to get me hands free in no time. Also some battery issues my phone was having "Hey brand new free battery thanks!" The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, greeting you immediately when you open the door and directing you to where you need to be and ready to upgrade you to the latest gadget and Fios services "No thank you I already have the latest in Fios and gadgets... well okay maybe not that new Droid phone but I'm fine for now". The place is never over crowded like at some of the other locations say Rockville or Laurel. My only big complaint, however, is that they only have one bill paying kiosk. They really need two cause there is always some slow so and so who don't know how to operate the darn kiosk machine in front of me and takes forever. read more

Went in after my phone died, knowing exactly what I wanted (iPhone 6S 64GB). Wait was short, but that's the only positive thing I can say. Sales guy kept asking if I wanted an iPad (this went on for close to 10 minutes), debated my choice in phone color, gave me a hard time for not using iCloud (conscious choice) and then brought out a 6, not a 6S. He also told us about the decrease in line charges from $40 to $20/month by starting a payment plan, while looking at a screen that showed my line was already only $20/month. He then tried to sell overpriced cases saying we had a discount for the account, only to have us correct him until he would admit that the discount didn't apply to the "premium" cases he was pushing. After that, was just treated like an idiot for not buying a case on the spot or paying for phone insurance. Overall, clueless sales guy who seemed to just be reciting sales pitches without really listening or looking at our current bill. Going in to just replace a phone took 2 hours, and in the end, he didn't even activate my phone. I had to call customer support when I got home, since the previous phone was dead and I couldn't do it myself. read more

Sales rep convinced me to buy a $60 accessory bundle with my new phone because I'd be able to sign up for Isis/softcard and get a free $25 Amex gift card to put towards it, and that the bundle would be discounted. I asked him to confirm all the details multiple times. I confirmed with him that between the discount (25%) and the gift card, I'd really only be paying $15. He helped me set up the app and said the card would pop up. Waited a few days, no gift card. I called Verizon customer service to see what the deal was, and they said the promo was no longer running when I came in. So I called the store on the advice of the customer service rep and was told that there was nothing they could do. I pointed out I was convinced to buy more based on this information, and the guy made no apologies, saying--more or less--sucks for you. read more

If I can give no stars I would. The customer service here is pathetic. I was very specific in what I requested and made the Sales Rep aware that I was focused on a specific product. He kept inquiring if I wanted to purchase other products I responded no. His team member then steps in and asked me the same damn questions. I replied kindly no thank you. These thirsty negros were persistent. I said look hound dogs I'm not interested and just walked out the store completely. Assholes truly. read more

this store would get no stars. why make an appt when you have to wait for 2 hours to be told you can't upgrade your phone. when you walk in and sign in, it's useless. That is when they should ask questions pertaining to why you are there. today when i called for the manager i was hung up on two times. very unprofessional. You will lose 4 customers that have been paying their bill for 17 years. its 2 hours that we can't get back and still no phone. Awful store. read more
