Can I give Jay 10 stars please! I called and described that my phone screen went black after I dropped it. I thought I could just reset it by holding on to the power button and waiting for my Pixel 5A to reboot. Turns out I had a thread like crack at the corner of my screen you could barely see it. When I called Jay, he said he could have the screen delivered to his shop the next day. I brought my phone in when he opened at 10am and he was done with my phone by 2p! Hands down fantastic customer service. I reached out to this technician on Yelp and Jay responded within a day with a reasonable quote. He was communicative during the entire process leading up to dropping off the broken device. Jay was able to repair the broken lightning port on my iPad Air 2 quickly and at a reasonable cost. A lot of other technicians in the area did not perform the micro soldering job or charged significantly more than Jay's quote. I decided to have Jay replace a broken screen on another iPad Air 2 I had as well after the initial repair. His quote was again reasonable and I trust his work to be top notch. I've never cracked my phone screen before, but there's a first time for everything. I went to the Apple Store for a consultation - $129 for a replacement out of warranty. Deciding to go with the more affordable route, I did some market research on third party vendors. The best prices I saw in DC were about $70; most were higher. I stumbled on iFix iBuy Phones on Yelp - which was a local solution and offered the most competitive pricing! Plus, the store offers discounts to teachers, firefighters, police, and military. I showed up as a walk-in after work, and Jay was able to help me immediately. I gave him my iPhone and he estimated a 15-20 minute fix time. Compare this to Apple's two-hour fix time, and it's already a deal. There are a couple chairs available while you wait. Less than 15 minutes later, my phone is presented to me again, and it looks brand spanking new, functions perfectly, I can look at it again without getting sad - and most importantly, I can use it without cutting my fingers! Jay even applied a free screen protector. When he gave me back my phone, he said I could take my time to make sure that it was all good - and it was. I couldn't be more pleased. My issue: iPhone 8 volume up button broke. Hardware issue likely, I forgot what he said. I attempted to get an quote for the project on yelp here, and it required and in-person consultation. Location is a small little shop, it has its own parking. Owner and fixer was very kind, straight to the point. I didn't have another number where I could have been reached if the project was done quickly, so I was given an 2hr return time, of course I didn't mind and got a lot done in that time frame Price was very good! UPDATE: In the three years since my previous review (below), I've been visiting this shop regularly. Recently he replaced my wife's cracked Apple watch screen, good as new. Earlier this year he rescued my Droid LG ThinQ phone which was no longer charging. He replaced the charging port and the battery, good as new -- however, the mic then wasn't working right. Turns out the mic is on the same part as the charging port and it was faulty. I brought it back and he fixed it fast, with no extra charge. That's what you get here: honest and top quality service at a modest price, just enough for him to make a small profit above the cost of parts. AWESOME!!! What a find. This is exactly what you want for something as important as repairing your cell phone. I think it's a one person shop. The owner is friendly, honest, talented, fair. He replaced the battery in my old Droid Turbo and replaced the cracked screen, all for $130. It's like new again. He texted me a day earlier than promised to pick it up. He said he ordered a second battery that he'll hold just in case the new one isn't quite up to expectations. I think he fixes computers, too. (YES!!) Avoid going to a crowded mall kiosk. Quite convenient considering the only cheaper thing I found was Ebay and I had to wait for it a few days which is very inconvenient. Wait time: less than 1 hour.
