I was looking to join the 21st century and denounce my ways as a proud Luddite. I originally stopped at one of the wireless zone Verizon stores in Hamden which had a small collection of phones and staff that wouldn't acknowledge me. I made it over to this full-fledged Verizon store instead. Staff there were friendly. They took my name immediately and I waited maybe 5 minutes tops before a sales rep came over to help me pick out a new phone. The rep I worked with showed me several phones and not just the 'new and hottest' items. I ended up picking one he had just purchased for his wife. The phone has a rebate and was already a good price. So far, it works pretty well and does what I want. The rep, Sam, was very helpful and friendly. I like that he didn't try to push any deals like "If you buy this one today, you'll get a _____ discount" or any of that nonsense. Overall, a generally un-frustrating experience! read more

Went here on Sunday to buy something. I gave my name and waited 40 minutes before being waited on. I then bought the item and waited 10 minutes for the "slow computer" to respond. I then went to lunch and had a question so went back. I'm here now... The guy said probably a 1/2 hour wait although he expedited me since I was here earlier. Really? That's my first and last time here. The staff should stop by the Apple store in New Haven to see how it's done. read more

Slow service, they take people out of order. Not knowledgeable at all. Most cell phone stores are terrible, but this store is even below that. Bring a bag lunch if you absolutely have to go there, you're going to be there a while. read more

Well, I see why they have a poor rating on Yelp now. Went in to do a very simple exchange on a product still in its original packaging. All I wanted to do was swap phones for a different color. NOPE, can't be done sir is my response. They did not even thank me for the 7 phones and 1 iwatch on my plan that is employing them. No exceptions on the return policy of 14 days. I came in here on my lunch break one weekday afternoon. I was greeted by an overly enthusiastic, poorly dressed salesman. Or what I thought was a salesman. He asked me what I needed - just a copy of 2 bills for my boss for his expenses. He was eager in telling me that that shouldn't be a problem and he'd be happy to help. Great, I thought.... He put in the phone number I needed the bill for, asked me my name, and typed it into his iPad that he was clutching like it was his life force. Then he told me I had to wait. Ok.... How long is the current wait time? His response: "Well there are 2 people in front of you, and based on our average for the week, it should be approximately 45 minutes." .....*cue my jaw dropping* "You can't just print me my bill?" I ask. "No. You have to wait for someone to assist you," his reply. "Aren't you assisting me?" I ask, now clearly pissed off. *silence* I walk past him and wait... 43 minutes. The total transaction time for them to print my bill.... 2 minutes. So yes, it was spot on. 45 minutes to get 2 bills. I don't know what Verizon thinks it's achieving by this method, but it's ridiculous. The fact that they couldn't e-mail me or fax a bill made this experience even worse. I can't wait til my contract is up because I'm running to AT&T. Because you know what AT&T does when you don't have a copy of your bill? They email it to the account holder's email address. WOW! Heaven help you if you need service from Verizon Wireless! I'm mostly happy with my cell phone, it's operation, my connectivity, etc. But, if you are unlucky enough to have a problem with your bill or service plan, you are in for a lengthy ordeal. At least that was my recent experience. On Mother's Day, I purchased a new iPhone. Verizon was running a promotion: buy an iPhone and get an LG tablet for free. It came with an extra GB of data and could go on my family plan for $10 a month so what the heck. Well, it was put on my account as a subplan and I started getting charged big bucks for it. Checking my account online didn't give me any answers and calling Verizon is worth your life. Unless you are the registered owner, and you know the password and pin numbers associated with the owner's phone, it's impossible to get through their voicemail hell. I went to the Verizon store and spent over an hour explaining the problem and getting it straightened out, or so I thought. Moved the tablet to my family plan, deleted the subplan, only an hour and a half of my life gone (for a tablet I hadn't asked for, and didn't really need but was assured it wouldn't cost me anything but $10 a month). All is well, right? Wrong. Three weeks later, I get a notice from a collection agency that I owe $282. Once again, can't get a hold of a live person by phone and have to make another trip to Verizon. Another hour (with TWO representatives) to get the problem taken care of. Evidently, when the changes were made and the subplan was discontinued, the charges weren't removed from the account, hence the dunning notice. Stuff happens... but my complaints about Verizon are these: 1) The original "free" tablet wasn't properly set up on my account by the Verizon rep. 2) Verizon makes it almost impossible to access a real, live person by phone if you can't remember your password. I still don't know what PIN number they were asking for. There is no way to get out of the voice mail system and get to someone who can help you directly. 3) The problem wasn't fixed after the first time I went into the Verizon store. 4) Each visit to the store took over an hour of my time, standing at the counter while the reps made phone calls, worked on computers, and asked each other questions. There isn't even a place for a customer to sit down. 5) I have yet to know whether the collections agency will cause me problems on my credit rating that I will have to fight. I still need to write a letter to them to preserve my rights, in case Verizon still didn't get it right. Of course, Verizon has us by the short ones since we have multiple phones that all come off the two-year contract at different times. And the phone service itself is pretty good. Great customer service here. I went here for help with a question on a bill and I was unable to receive and send texts from many important contacts. Omar was my technical assistant with my problems. He was amazing, helpful, and patient. I would like to thank him for all of his help. My issues were not simple ones. I was so happy when I left the store with a phone that worked like it should. read more

Bad customer service. When the phone was not functioning correctly they blamed me instead of trying to diagnose the problem. They said having an app (even just one) open could cause glitches and touch screen malfunction. He have me all these excuses without even taking a minute to look at the phone. And he had a very condescending tone. Won't be going back here ever, and someone should fire the jerk behind the counter. read more

Do not do business with these people. They are totally incompetent, lazy and deceitful. I ordered at iPhone 6 and was told i would have it in 7-10 business days. 2 days before it was supposed to arrived, i received notification the order was canceled. I called and the salesperson said they were sorry and would reissue the order for delivery the following week. The phone was never delivered, i then found out never ordered (they told me it was canceled, Verizon corporate explained it was never ordered). They then refused to issue a refund for the phone and made up an elaborate lie about the refund process. I simply told them I would dispute the charge with my credit card company unless i had a phone or a refund by noon that day. All of a sudden, it was very easy to issue a refund. The manager, Jason, is rude and full of excuses, the sales team seems helpful at first but it is all lip service. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. read more

Don't Buy The Accessories From Verizon! Recently upgraded to an iPhone8. Salesperson was excellent, no issues there. It was then time to select a screen protector and a case. Saw a case I liked for $40.00. Screen protector, about $30. Held off, went online to Amazon. The case I liked was $21.04. Screen protectors, about $8 for 2. Then, just for the heck of it, I went to the Verizon store at BJ's, about 400 feet away from the store where I bought the phone. Same case, $45.00. The takeaway? Verizon is charging dearly for accessories you can get for much, much less. Are they ripping us off? You decide. read more
