We have been to this location several times and have enjoyed the food. My husband is a Chicagoan so pizza is near and dear to his heart and would prefer it for every meal . Anyways, we had a late cheer practice and came in at 830...30 minutes before they were closing. We were met with smiles and pleasant service from the moment we were greeted to the moment we left. I just wanted to point this out as it is common in this day and age to have to hope for pleasant customer service and even more search for it when it is 30 minutes before closing time. VERO is the best Chicago pizza in the state of Arizona. Nothing comes close other pizza and sandwiches and ambiance. They make the best deep dish butter crust pizza and no Chicago pizza store can equal them. They opened way out in MARICOPA John Wayne pkwy in the middle of nowhere.. new shopping centers desperate for veros pizza and food.. building homes and centers everywhere and not one decent pizza restaurant or pizza maker 100 stars in chandler but round trip on the 202 is way too far. Someone needs to wake up if you build 3 in this area veros would be the three best pizza shops in the west valley hands down. Grew up in Brooklyn with 100' of pizza shops. I've never tasted any that topped VERO. Need to pray for veros out by verado community building new homes all over Buckeye it's a win win situation wher instead of one round trip we can eat it every week. Please seriously build here. What a great place!!! The pizza was excellent. We got a thin crust pepperoni and a thin crust Sears Tower. I loved the Chicago names for all of the pizzas. The salad and garlic bread came out right away and were good starters while we waited for the pizza. We got right in a little before 6 on a Saturday night. The service was attentive and I loved the Chicago pictures on the wall to create that Chicago feel. The pizza was excellent, however the restaurant was filthy. The bathrooms looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in months and the floors and windows were disgustingly dirty. My husband ordered a long island iced tea while we waited on our pizza and it was awful. He mentioned that it tasted like ethanol. Made him sick for the rest of the day. In summary, although the pizza is excellent, they are obviously cutting corners when it comes to cleaning and bartending. Makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. read more

This used to be one of our favorite places to go at least 2 times a week if not more! The last two times we went the service, at the bar, was terrible! No interaction, asked if we were ready to order but never offered a menu, seemed very lost behind the bar! The food here is good, but the biggest reason we always came back was the service! I like everything about Vero. My wife and I eat there 2-3 times per week. We cycle between thin crust pizza, then Italian beef, then salad, then butter crust pizza. Once it done we are craving thin crust again. Always consistently good. Italian Beef with peppers is awesome. This sort of pizza takes time to make, so don't expect it to be super quick. Ordered take out: 14 inch Lake Shore Drive pizza and a large Caesar Salad. Lake Shore Pizza - Thin crust pizza that was crispy, yet chewy. The dough was spot on and the sauce was delicious. There was just enough cheese in ratio to the toppings (Sausage, Bacon, Pepperoni). Caesar Salad: Was very delicious. The romaine lettuce was crisp, croutons were seasoned to perfection and the dressing was very tasty. The only thing is for a large, the salad was small and one cup of dressing didn't coat the entire salad. Customer Service: The lady over the phone was very pleasant. She made us aware beforehand that the credit card machine wasn't working and to bring cash. We truly appreciated that because it saved us from being inconvenienced. Despite living very close to this restaurant, we have never made our way in. We finally decided to come in and were not disappointed. The decor inside is very dark and cozy with a relaxed atmosphere. We got a butter crust cheese pizza, a cauliflower pizza with meatballs and the pizza fritta appetizer. My wife housed the appetizer and didn't have room for the pizza. She absolutely loved the garlic parmesan dough balls. I've literally never seen her go so crazy over an appetizer to spoil the main course. The cauliflower pizza was thin, crispy and delicious. Anyone that tries it won't be able to tell it's cauliflower crust. It was awesome. Lastly, the butter crust cheese pizza was amazing. Super thick, extra cheesy and doughy. Just like I like my pizzas. Our server was very informative and attentive and we appreciated her answering all of our questions. The only downside is the prices. I just got off the phone with a teen that works there. She told me there is a ONE HOUR wait for them to make a simple pizza for pick up. In the evenings, it is a 60 minute wait for a table. If it is a Friday or Saturday evening, forget about it. A ONE HOUR WAIT. To order a pizza for takeout, you will be placed on hold by a teen worker for 19 minutes, only to be told that it will take an hour for your pizza. This place came highly recommended from a friend. So I was eager to try it. I grew up on Chicago pizza, so it's not new to me. I love deep dish and thin crust. I won a gift certificate at Christmas, so I had the perfect opportunity to try it. My son and I went a couple weeks ago and got the cheese curds and a cheese deep dish. Pretty basic but if you can do a good cheese, the I feel like you have a solid pizza. The curds were tasty and the pizza was decent. In comparing to another Chicago pizza joint, we both still prefer the other. That said, I was willing to go back and try their thin crust. That changed today when I saw their response to a potential customer's question on FB. When asked how their pizza compares to another Chicago pizza place this person had tried (and didn't love), Vero chose to bash that company's pizza in an effort to make theirs appear better. That was a huge turn off for me. If you can't promote your product without tearing down a competitor's, then you're either really bad at marketing or your product is not that good. We have dined in at Vero once and ordered takeout multiple times. My husband and I think it is the best pizza in Ahwatukee! We have ordered every style of pizza they offer and they're all delicious. We love to add the spicy giardiniera to our pizza. The ingredients taste super fresh and you can customize it the way you want, but all of the pre-set specialty pizzas we have tried are great. The have a great selection of wine and beer if you choose to dine in. The restaurant has a great vibe and the service is great. The caprese salad was terrible. The service at the bar was slow. We ordered a pizza that finally came that was missing the toppings we ordered on half the pizza. Then we were told our correct pizza was being made and would be right out. 20 - 30 minutes later, we left. Pizza is great, especially the thin crust, square-cut tavern-style that's hard to find in Phoenix, and my wife loved her deep-dish "margarita" style pie. We'll be back! A couple of things to be aware of: -- Online ordering is easy with complete customization, but I didn't see a confirming screen or email with an order number, items, ready-to-pick-up status, etc. Did I just miss it? -- Pies were ready when I arrived, kept in a warming box by the door. But the thin crust wasn't nearly as crisp as I'd hoped because of sitting and steaming for a while, a risk for all boxed-for-travel crispy items.
