So unimpressed by this place! My partner made a reservation on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. When we arrived, we told them we had a reservation... they ignored that. We got seated but then just watched all the staff standing around talking. Someone finally brought us over some chips. After about 10-15 mins we asked an employee walking by if we could get some drinks. She sent the waiter over. He brought waters and we ordered drinks. The place was not busy tonight and there was lots of staff. To bad we couldn't get any service. I'm writing this as we are sitting here waiting forever for our food. Unless this food shows up so amazing we will not be back. I haven't eaten yet!! The food was good but nothing to bring me back. I tip for service! First time to this restaurant and the menu looked great. After the chips and salsa were delivered and waters poured we were completely ignored and forgotten about. Staff walked by but never made an effort to stop and take our food order. After twenty-five minutes of no service, we left. Very disappointed as I mentioned the menu looked tasty. My wife, daughter and I, along with my nephew, his wife and 2 children (less than 2 years old) had a pleasurable evening until the check arrived. We had the checks prepared along family lines (2 separate) only to discover that a 20% gratuity had automatically been added to each of our bills. Apparently parties of 6 or more get this add on, automatically. Not sure if this was spelled out on the menu or not, I'm guessing not. Note that the 6th and 7th parties at the table were less than 2 years old. To top it off, they had the audacity of charging us sales tax on the gratuity. The waiter said I'd have to wait for at least a half hour to speak with the owner, so I reluctantly paid the bill and left. Since when is it legal to charge sales tax on a gratuity??? One of my go-to spots. Food is solid overall, good variety of Mexican dishes and a (somewhat recently added) smattering of Cuban dishes as well. Carnitas are my test of any Mexican restaurant (hard to get that beautiful, seared, crisp exterior with the tender, juicy interior), and they hit the mark more often than not...though I recommend the carnitas burrito for a true treat. Cuban pork steak is another favorite (see the photo). And I'd be remiss not to give due praise to the margaritas...great variety, all delicious (Texas is my personal favorite). Service is four stars plus unto itself. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Go there a few times, and every time you go after will be like dropping in to see family. The space is nice, not overly upscale but nice. It can get a little loud when there's live music. And the back patio is a nice little oasis. read more

A very cute restaurant that's a hole in the wall, but really fun vibe! Outdoor seating, but spacious inside and a very modern looking bar. I didn't order alcohol, but my friend got a flight of margaritas and the presentation was outstanding (and super tasty!) I did order the carne asada and was slightly underwhelmed with the meat-- unsure if it was the cut or what, but it wasn't my favorite. However the rest of the meal, including our guacamole, was incredible! And our service was top notch! I'd like to go back and try another dish with chicken and compare, but overall a great place to try! read more

Ordered a queso fundido with steak ($17) thinking it would be a plate of melted cheese with small pieces of steak in the center. The margaritas a strong and BIG. The large is plenty to share and the medium is plenty for one. Salsa has a few options and the hot was good, but still mild. The beef is cooked with onions and peppers, so it's a bit different than most places. I'm personally not a fan but several of my dinner mates loved it. The Silyva's platter is rice, cheese, chicken and shrimp. While I always love this combo (not the healthiest but so GOOD) theirs was really good with the shrimp. The food is good, drinks are great, a variety of salsas- it checks all the Mexican boxes. While it was all good there are several Mexican places closer to me- but I'll be back for the band on Saturday's and if you live close by well worth the visit! read more

This location is in the Highlands/Louisville Kentucky. I went here on Mother's Day a place. I've never been here before ...I have to admit the food was absolutely delicious. I got the chicken breast with Jack/pineapple/black beans/plantains. It's right under the fajitas, the service was exemplary. We never had to wait for anything and the food was absolutely delicious. I rarely give a five star review but I found not one thing went wrong. A wonderful Mother's Day lunch so I have to give credit to my son. We all had a great time the chicken was tender the plantains delightful everything had robust flavor and was wonderful. If you're in the Highlands copy this address and stop by for lunch or dinner I highly highly recommend it. There is parking in the back or park across the street at Kroger's. that's just my opinion. Parking is not the best, but food was great, went to a family member birthday and it was great. The service was on great and they were very friendly. Only think that you may want to be shure is that if you sit by the live miusic, may be a bit complicate to move around but other than that the aria is clean and nice. I have a new found love for Mexican shrimp cocktail. This spot has great shrimp cocktail for a bargain. You get huge shrimp in a tasty bowl of fresh avocado, tomato, onion, cocktail sauce mixture and the flavors are amazing. It pairs perfectly with tortilla chips and a big draft beer. Since indoor dining has been on and off in 2020, they created a nice little patio space in front too. All of the tables have umbrellas and you can scan a code to view the menu on your phone. This was an order from Postmates for pick up. We were able to easily place our order using the online service and it was awesome that our food actually got completed much quicker than anticipated. They have a plexiglass installed at the entryway of the restaurant, and hand sanitizer available as you walk in. However, we had some issues picking up the order because we were waiting in the lobby for sometime to get our order and talk to someone. This actually took longer than the preparation time for our order. When we finally got our food we brought it home. The food was delicious. I don't remember the last time I've had a Vegetarian Combo A where the best part of it has been the tostada. But in this case it was. They use a mix of lettuce that's not iceberg which is very refreshing to see. It was a delicious meal that made up for the minor hiccup. read more

We got asked to join the family for dinner and they said they're going to Sol Aztecas. We had never been, so of course that's a yes! From the reviews on here (three star average), I just assumed a regular ole Mexican place. I learned that the place got new ownership in the last two years and recently changed things within that two year period... maybe a review of their rating by Yelp is warranted? While the menu wasn't too different, they did have some unique offerings. But upon walking in, you could see that it was a little different. The tables and chairs were all different than what you'd expect at competing restaurants and then they had nice glasses ready at each table and it just had the feel of an upscale establishment. When we sat down and looked at the menu, I'd say the prices probably reflected the upscale look a bit, but it was by no means outrageous, just a little pricier. The chips and salsa were awesome... my wife specifically mentioned her love for the chips. For the entree, I had the Quesadilla Al Pastor as that's a twist on a quesadilla that I've never had.... And now I ask "WHY DOESNT EVERY MEXICAN RESTAURANT HAVE THIS!?" Holy hell it was delicious. I can't wait to go back. read more

I wish I could leave a better review for this place, but every single time I have eaten here, without fail, the service is just too slow. I work in a restaurant, I get it, but even when they're not busy, you'll be sitting there with an empty drink for 20 minutes before someone will go check on you. Never sure on who my server is, they never introduce themselves, and typically theres at least 2-3 different people that will come over to your table to check on you. Today, I sat outside and after ordering, it took about 15-20 minutes to get the food, perfectly reasonable. Before I can take a bite of my food, another server pops outside to ask how it is, and then no one checked on us for a solid 20-30 minutes, despite checking on others outside while my drink was sitting empty. My original server never came back to see us, and we ended up having to go inside to get our check and our dessert to go because we had been there for an hour and a half and had places to be. Not sure who our tip went to‍ we left it at the counter with our receipt. My experiences here have consistently been like this, and I keep coming back in the hopes that the staff will get better, we tip well despite the poor service and hoped that would help, but clearly that is just not going to solve things. The food is really good, but nothing you can't find at another mexican restaurant. I don't recommend going here unless you're ready to be very patient for no good reason. If anything, I will only order pick-up and double-check all my food before leaving. read more

I ordered a taco salad with chicken as it comes. When it came out with no sour cream or guacamole as listed in the menu, I politely informed our server that it was incorrect. The manager then came over and yelled at my fiancé and I that I could have one or the other on the side. I had to read him the menu for them to correct it. On top of that, the lettuce in the salad was mixed greens rather than iceberg lettuce which was very odd. The entire staff was more concerned with filming their commercial and taking photographs than the food or the service. Unfortunately, we will not be back. read more

This restaurant is phenomenal. Not only did I receive excellent and fast service. I also enjoyed high quality, wonderful tasting mexican cuisine. I ordered a Chicken Fajita Burrito which was to DIE for. The chicken was moist and well flavored and the vegetables were sautéed to perfection. Their plating was also exquisite. My partner ordered the Chori Pollo, his go to at Mexican restaurants, and ranted about how good it was. And devoured it too fast for me to get a picture. We will be coming here regularly from now on. Delicious! My family stopped in for a late lunch today, right before 3p so we still caught the lunch menu. The restaurant was quiet and we were greeted and seated right away. On the menu for us .. 2 tacos with ground beef, the burrito and taco meal, and the chicken fajitas. Everything was fantastic and even my kids cleared their plates! We also finished off an order of queso. Loved the chips and it's worth noting that the hard taco shells were sturdy. So often when you get a taco, the shell gets super soggy and crumbles. Our server was very attentive and kept our drinks filled and plates cleared away. If we asked for anything extra, she brought it right away. Great spot to visit for a Mexican craving! read more
