It's simply amazing. I love this place more than the restaurant version next door. They have so much tasty pastries. Even though the place is Cuban, the desserts are European inspired. The place is very popular, so they always have the desserts fresh, which is perfect because they are the tastiest when they have just been cooked. Good espresso drinks too. We had wathced an episode of The Best Thing I Ever Ate on the Food Network, and Aaron Sanchez recommended the guava pastillos and the guava/cheese pastillos. So while in Miami last week we decided to check it out!... It was a tad intimidating because very little english is spoken in there, but a woman in line behind me helped me out when I told her why I was there. She ordered the recommended guava pastillos for me as well as a coconut type and a different guava pastry... we got 5 pastries for less than $5!!! and it was SO worth it! flaky, sweet filled pastries that tasted homemade and delicious! I like to pay tribute to the Cuban influence here in Miami and what better way than to frequent the Versailles Bakery in Little Havana. Plenty of authentic and colorful locals gathered here provide a great ambience. Recently tried some hot food and received great service at a great price. The baguette with cheese and salami was delish accompanied with a cortadito, a cuban expresso with milk. Then from the bakery I successfully ordered from their great selection of cakes, pastries and empanadas, in broken Spanish and through gesturing. My favorite is the pastelito, flakey pastries with meat, cheese and guava, I like to experiment and try something new each time I come and I have yet to sample anything that I did not enjoy. Took previous reviewers advice and ordered a few Pastelitos. Pastry is very flaky, and guayaba con queso filling was delish!! I'd go back there for these. Based on a recommendation and I also got a kind of flan (something ciel...?) So sweet I got headache 1/3 of the way. I guess it's true Cuban sweets take a word "sweet" to a whole new level! We are here twice on a short trip it was so good. It can get really busy, they move through it ok. It is affordable and everything is really good. I was really looking forward to coming to this bakery, some girlfriends and i had lunch at the Versailles restaurant the day before so we had high expectations for the bakery. But this bakery is nothing compared to the restaurant. First, the woman who work there are rude, especially Amanda. She has no customer service skills AT ALL. She doesn't smile, her face expression doesn't change, and she has a horrible attitude. It's sad that this bakery would hire someone like this, these woman are the face of the bakery. They're the first people customers see when we walk in. Customers don't want to walk into and give their business to an establishment who hire people who don't even greet you when you walk in and look like they're irritated to serve you. Second, you have to grab a ticket with a number, so they call out your number to be helped. But I'm not sure if they know how to count because they go from number 34 to 44. Then when you tell them that they skipped you (Amanda) puts her hand in your face and walks away. Lastly, You can't even ask these ladies a simple question without them rolling their eyes all irritated. This is a very popular place so I'm sure they won't lose business but I strongly suggest AMAMDA learn some customer skills or look for a new job. You're not going to go very far with an attitude and personality like that. read more

Spread the word, "It is not authentic Cuban food, only a watered down poor imitation!" Maybe at one time they might have been a real Cuban bakery but not anymore. Now it seems to be a tourist trap, a place for politicians to make TV appearances, and appealing for those who don't really know authentic Cuban food. My poor husband wanted to give me a surprise so he took me all excited to the Versailles bakery. The bakery is small but I saw that they had 6-7 people at the counter. There were some people but 4 of the ladies were just standing around talking to each other. I walked up to the counter and not one tried to take my order. I took a number and literally stood there 10 minutes staring at them while they gave me dirty looks, took another person's order who had just walked in the door and one of them even rolled her eyes at me before another took my order. The service was lousy the product was limited, stale and greasy. Only the cashier was friendly. I now know why no Cuban I know, myself included, bothers going there. Posers!
