Outstanding flavors! We came for lunch and we had the scallops and a lamb curry stew, sort of dish and a lentil and rice crêpe filled with potatoes and egg and everything is spectacular! We will be back.

UPDATE: The manager made the situation right. Food was also a 4.2 to me. I loved the garlic naan and cauliflower appetizer was unique and interesting. The dosa was probably the best I've had. However, service wasn't not ideal. The waiter wasn't friendly and it felt like we were a burden. She seemed annoyed when we only wanted water for drinks. I also noticed some discrepancies in the tip and credit card charge

What a nice place for an Indian American brunch. It's very modern and minimal. I love the local feel of this place. The one server on staff on a Saturday morning was absolutely amazing. She gave us her honest recommendation on dishes and portion and it turned out to he the best advice. Took my bestie there for brunch. They were able to seat us immediately, even after being 20 minutes late for our reservation. We got meter parking pretty quickly considering parking in Culver City is not always great. We shared the Avocado Toast & Poached Eggs dish along with the Benne Dosa. Everything was good and our server never let our coffee get below top so it was always warm. And considering she was the only server scheduled at that time, she gave us 100% attention.

My friend and I came here for dinner and enjoyed it overall! We shared a few items - Lahsooni Scallops, Gobhi Bezule, Garlic & Chive Naan, Beef Short Ribs Nihari and Tellicherry Shrimp & Grits. This was a cool fusion menu! Our favorite was the scallop as it was soo soft/tender. I would say skip the short ribs as I felt this was a little salty and on the drier side. Everything else was delicious though! Food came relatively quickly.

Food was amazing, quick friendly service. Love the environment we had a table of 12 and it easily accommodated us. Great small table date spot as well. Would highly recommend for more higher end Indian food.

It was SO. GOOD. I don't usually eat Indian food but everything was like delicious. The fried chicken was super crispy and the sauce was great. The short rib large plate was delicious and the naan was great as well. But the star of the show was THE SCALLOPS. Oh Em Gee I could eat those everyday. For $12 you get 4 scallops and they r like the best scallops I've ever had truly. We got the wine from Spain which was good and then for dessert we got this pistachio ice cream bar that was really good. The staff were all SOooooOOOOOOOO nice like cannot emphasize enough. Will be in the rotation of "I want to eat really good food". My sister and I even said we would come and just get a glass of wine and some scallops when we r bored it's that good. The ambiance is just so good and it's candlelit and beautiful. I can't believe this place isn't more popular.

Perfect delicious food, service, and ambiance. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine from Spain and chai tea to drink. All the food was delicious! My favorite dishes were the sweet potato's, crab, and the shrimp entree.

Had a wonderful birthday celebration at Almost Famous last night. We pulled up around 5pm on a Thursday eve and there was tons of parking on the street. The space is quite minimalistic in its design, there's a bit of a casual-cafeteria feel to it. The place currently strictly serves beer/wine, and their selection is to the point, short and sweet. There is currently no bar seating offered at the restaurant. I ordered their Sav Blanc and followed with the Riesling after-- the Riesling was an incredible pairing with the spices in the dishes. Sav Blanc was a bright, floral start to the dinner. Mmmmmm.. NOW, onto the food-- I was happy to see the handful of vegetarian options (I don't eat meat), and we ordered a couple dishes that our server, Melissa, recommended. The Gobhi Bezule was a personal favorite-- not usually a fan of cauliflower but I'm sure as hell glad I tried it out! The texture was stunnnning. Crisp to the bite, drenched in a gorgeous coconut milk based sauce that was reminiscent of a spin off on biscuits and gravy with Indian flare. The sweet potato chaat was colorful, filled with texture + flavor (those pomegranate seeds POPPED). I ate their yellow daal as if it were a lentil soup, its consistency is quite thin, but it pairs well with their naan breads and they have rice options to serve it with. The Benne Dosa was heavy on the ghee, I'd order it lighter next time-- the tomato + coconut chutney it came with was a wonderful pairing. Melissa was attentive and kind, walked us through the entire experience. She also showed us their brunch menu, which they're open for daily-- left a photo reference here. Thank you for hosting us, Almost Famous!

Almost Famous was great: the food had a lot of flavor, the dishes were presented nicely, and the service was fantastic. Below are my thoughts on each dish ordered: - Gobhi Bezule (cauliflower): a bit too much breading - Crab Bhuna: the amount of sauce mixed in made it so I couldn't taste the crab as much as I had hoped to, but maybe this is what it's supposed to be like - Fried chicken: a bit too much breading and not crispy enough; the sauce was amazing - Awadhi Lamb Biryani: so, so good - Kulfi: the ice cream consistency was absolutely perfect, the flavor was there, and it wasn't too sweet One thing that kind of bothered me was the front door slamming shut. It slowly closes itself, but then loudly slams shut at the last second. This was pretty noticeable on the night I dined here and I assume it will be addressed. I look forward to dining here again! TIP: They are working on obtaining their liquor license and have no corkage fee for the time being - bring a bottle of wine!! They provide glasses and will open the bottle for you!

This is the perfect place for your next friend gathering or date night. The food is absolutely delicious and innovative. It's truly elevated Indian with western flavors. The food is spiced well, and gentle for anyone's palate. The service is very attentive and they are always ready for a suggestion. Unlike most sharing places, you don't feel the pressure to order 3 dishes per person. The portions are good and you leave full. The dessert was magical! Get the pistachio kulfi or cheeni paratha.

Almost Famous is a newer elevated South Indian restaurant in Culver City and it's such a great find. The space feels low key, intimate, and cozy, perfect for a relaxed dinner that still feels special. We're giving this five stars because the food was genuinely delicious. Everything felt high quality and the portions were very generous. You can tell a lot of care went into the menu. We started with the fried chicken and the cauliflower and both were really good. The fried chicken especially stood out, the sauce it came with was so flavorful and made the dish. For mains we ordered the lamb, short rib, paneer, yellow dal, garlic and chive naan, and the brown butter paratha. I personally liked the lamb more than the short rib. The paneer and yellow dal were comforting and full of flavor, the naan was fluffy and fresh, and the paratha was perfectly flaky with a rich brown butter taste. The spice level across the board was pretty mild, which actually makes this a great spot for anyone with a sensitive stomach or who prefers flavorful food without a lot of heat. Service was a bit slow, but since they're brand new it's totally understandable and not something I'm docking stars for. New restaurants usually work these things out pretty quickly. Almost Famous has a lot of potential and we'll definitely be back.

Almost famous is a great find in the Culver City arts area. It's located just a few blocks west of La Cienega on Washington Boulevard. The food is outstanding. The flavor and the spices they use are superb. The staff were very nice and hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed the scallops, the shrimp and grits were outstanding. The beef short ribs had amazing flavor. I highly recommend you give this place a try!

Came on a Tuesday night with the girlies. Candlelit, cozy ambiance and quiet enough to actually have a conversation. Service was attentive without hovering, with regular check-ins and genuinely kind staff. I love Indian food and was especially impressed by the shrimp and daal . While there's another Indian spot in Culver City that I already frequent, this is a strong addition to the neighborhood. The elevated vibe makes it a solid date-night option. Side note: I also came for brunch a few months after they opened in 2025. Beautiful spread and loved the individual teapots .

Sitting at the bar was definitely a plus because we got to watch the chefs cook throughout the night. We ordered the spicy pomodoro, squid ink mafaldine, and steak tartare, along with a sauvignon blanc and merlot to pair with the pasta. The steak tartare was good, but it was lacking a bit of flavor. The bread that came with it was perfectly toasted and honestly my favorite part of the dish. The spicy pomodoro was perfectly al dente and flavorful but it didn't really live up to the hype for me. I couldn't taste any truffle and it wasn't spicy at all. It was still a good pasta, just not life changing. The squid ink mafaldine was unfortunately pretty lackluster. The pasta tasted like al dente salt water, the prawns were overcooked, and it felt like they just threw a handful of raw basil on top and called it a day. The wines were good and paired well with the food but there wasn't anything particularly memorable about them. Service was great. Our server was super attentive and helpful. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was great, service was on point, and even though some dishes fell short, I'd definitely come back to try their other dishes!

The restaurant could be very quiet but on this occasion an obnoxiously loud group was so oblivious to the pleasure of others that some patrons chose to move outside patio dining. We also moved our table but the loud group was still very disturbing and so loud I could not hear the waitress. Most in our group ordered the le a.o.c burger with gruyère, dijon, caramelized shallots & crispy. I added avocado for extra flavor. It was presented very well on a plank and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly per my order. One guest ordered the scrambled egg focaccia sandwich with hooks' cheddar, nueske's bacon & chive crème fraîche and loved it. He's usually a meat eater but decided to try something new and he was happy he did. Parking in the area is very limited, more so by required residential permit parking and lots of tow away signs. We found a spot four blocks from the restaurant. Of course they do offer valet parking. One of our guests used the valet for $13. One minor issue is the restaurant charges an additional 6% for employees health care benefits. A small amount but a sign of the times.
