    Take out for me

Always predictable food. My friend brought me food to the hospital as I was with my husband. The plantains and my dinner were great. Our hospital visitors enjoyed the croquettes and the empanadas. The croquettes were a bit too burned for me.

When in Miami, you gotta get some cuban food. Classic Versailles here. We were impressed with the quality to cost ratio. Very decently priced for what you get which is a HUGE plus in todays ridiculously overpriced world. First, they were busy at 9pm. They have a waiting area outside with a bar though so time passes by quickly. Wonderful idea. Friendly staff and a great menu. Vaca Frita (4): The shredded beef is really good. The pan fry is hit or miss. Really good crispy charred bits but can be dry at times. I'm glad I tried it, but I think I'd go with the Ropa Vieja next time to have more moist bites vs. crispy bites. Plantains and Rice with beans were done nicely. Cuban Roast Pork (5): I'd always get this at the Versailles in Los Angeles. For roast pork, can't beat it. Just moist and flavorful. Delicious every time! Mahi Mahi (Dolphin) Filet (4): Learned something new today. When they say 'Dolphin', its not your sea world schooner friend, its actually mahi mahi. It was good. Not overcooked and seasoned nicely. Chicken and Rice (5): Daughter got this and it was really good. Super moist chicken mixed into flavorful rice. Cubano sandwich (4): Standard cuban sandwich executed well. Crispy bread. Flan (5): It's just really good flan. Versailles special (5): Forgot the name of this dessert but it was basically a large Creme Brulee with cake on the bottom. It was delicious! Overall, great spot for comfort cuban cuisine at reasonable prices!

I haven't been to Miami and Versailles in years and I was delighted to find it is still an excellent intro to Cuban food and late night dining. After a long flight, my friends and I stopped at Versailles by the airport at 10pm for dinner on a Tuesday night. The restaurant, Cafe and bakery were packed. The service is brusque and fast. The hostess kindly found us a back corner table to accommodate all our suitcases. We ordered sangria, cod fish fritters, calamari, arugula salad, imperial rice special, roasted pork, ropa viewable (shredded beef), liver, tongue and paella to share. The meat portions were a bit smaller than usual, but the generous sides of rice and plantains made up for it. The prices were still fair with most entrees averaging around $15. We didn't order the Cuban sandwich or croquettes, but it seemed like the local favorite with platefuls coming out constantly. Food came out fast and piping hot! We took ride share but parking could be a problem if you go during regular dining hours.

We were pretty excited to just have a cocktail and Cuban and witch before flying out. Had a classic marg which hit the spot. Their mojitos looked great as well. Out sandwich was the bummer. We got the impression, they're ordered so much, that the quality was missing. Cheese wasn't melted and it wasn't warm. We placed our order and we had our fries and cubano in 3 mins, took longer to get our margs . We saw a lot of the other plates around us and they looked pretty awesome. So maybe skip the cubano on busy days?

We have been wanting to have lunch here for a long time and finally made it last Monday. We wanted to avoid the huge crowds so we got here around 1130am. There were no lines and we lucked out parking very close to the front door. We were seated right away near the front and were served immediately. Versailles is a very large restaurant with French inspired ornate mirrors and lovely chandeliers. It is known as "The World's Most Famous Cuban Restaurant," attracting locals, tourists, celebrities, and politicians. It should be a must visit on your list. We are very happy that we went! Our food was delicious!! My daughter had her Cuban favorite, Vaca de Frita, and loved it. Generous portions here, by the way. I ordered the Lechon Asado (roast pork) with rice & black beans and boiled yucca, which was to die for!! I can't wait to go back for this meal again. We both had cafe con leche, but it wasn't what we hoped for unfortunately. I would get a cortadito next time. For dessert, she got the Tres Leches and I got the Guava and cheese pie. Both were very good. Besides the restaurant, there is a Cuban bakery inside with delicious pastries and cakes. The La Ventanita is their coffee shop window outside attached to their building. Take a nunber. There is plentiful parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. Our server, Yudiel, was excellent. He was friendly, attentive, graciously explained the menu questions we had, and checked on us several times even though it had become very busy by then. We appreciated his service. We look forward to returning very soon.

My colleagues and I came here on a Thursday afternoon, and we thought this place got great vibes and had very affordable prices. The decorations indoors were very glamorous with chandeliers, lots of mirrors, and spacious seating. The menu was so huge that it was guaranteed that there would be something for everyone. We agreed that the next time we meet up, we would choose this place again. In terms of food, the taste wasn't necessarily the best, but it was still pretty good and definitely worth it for the price. The paella had pretty conventional tastes in terms of the rice, as it was clear that there was some tomato sauce flavoring the rice. The rice was a bit sticky, in a sloppy way. The ropa vieja had a good amount of beef which was great, and it was tender enough with good flavor, but I wish black beans were included with the dish. My colleagues ordered the classic dish and the vaca frita, and both looked like they got an abundant amount of food, which was a plus for sure, for very affordable prices. They had good things to say about the dishes overall. The catalonian style meatballs was a Thursday special dish and was also very affordable. Overall, even though this spot doesn't have the most outstanding taste for its food, its food still has pretty good flavor, and this establishment is definitely worth returning to because of its affordability and vibes. People can easily find what they want here and have a good time with their friends.

Cuban sandwich and yucca in a garlic mojo

The famous Versailles and I made it. This place is really big inside. There's a bakery on one side, a Café in the middle and on the other side is where you enter for the restaurant. I was greeted immediately and only waited about 5 minutes before I was lead inside. My waiter was so nice and attentive. I ordered a Cuban coffee to start. Then, I ordered the Cuban sandwich. It was very delicious and layered so beautifully with all the meat and cheese. I also ordered the yucca in garlic mojo. I didn't think I would eat the whole thing but I couldn't stop, that's how good it was. I got another Cuban sandwich to take with me on the plane along with 4 fresh guava pastries. I will come back here when I visit again.

    Mandatory first stop.

Whenever I visit Miami, I try to make my first stop the Versailles Restaurant. This eatery has been a mainstay in Miami since 1971 and it is ALWAYS BUSY. Be it the main dining area, the bakery, or the "Ventanita" (walk-up window). During this visit, I started with my favorite beverage on the planet, a Mamey Shake, with milk. Each sip was divine, had the heavenly slight sweetness of the mamey, and I'll never get enough. Our selections were: Yuca Frita (Fried Cassava with cilantro dipping sauce), Bistec de Palomilla (top sirloin steak, with white rice), and the Croqueta Preparada Sandwich (ham, swiss, pickles, ham croquettes, and garlic butter, hugged by a Cuban pressed bread). Each item was well prepared, well presented, and my sandwich could not be finished, because of the large serving. Versailles will continue to be a Miami icon and is a recommended visit.

I went to Versailles thinking I was about to have a full dinner, but ended up at the bakery section and was a little dumbfounded. I ordered some food, and for a second I was like, oh, this is what everyone raves about, but also, wait, where is the actual dinner? Lesson learned, do not make the same mistake. They actually have two sections that are connected, so you can walk from the bakery to the main restaurant, which is honestly really cool. The place is historic and feels like you just stepped into a movie set. I kept looking around thinking, am I in Miami or did I accidentally get cast as an extra in a telenovela? Also, the staff is super fast and attentive, which makes you want to tip, but here's the funny part: when everything happens so fast, you don't even know what just happened. You go from ordering to getting your food to being amazed by the surroundings and suddenly there's a tip moment and you're like, wait, how much and when? Just sit down, soak it all in, enjoy the experience, and try not to spill your cafecito because yes, Versailles is worth it, even if it feels like a beautiful, slightly confusing whirlwind.

If Cuban food had a Hall of Fame, Versailles Restaurant on SW 8th Street would have its own wing. Authentic. Iconic. Legendary. It's the oldest and most famous Cuban restaurant in the United States, and walking in feels like you just stepped into a time capsule wrapped in gold trim and cafecito. The decor is elegant, dramatic, and unapologetically Miami. You half expect a mayor, a movie star, or your abuela to be sitting at the next table. Now let's talk food. The empanadas? Special. Delicious. Flavorful. Perfect textures. Crispy outside, warm savory magic inside. These little guys showed up ready for prime time. Then my Palomilla steak arrived. I am fairly certain it left the kitchen before meeting salt. It was not bad. It was not good. It was... present. Like it clocked in but did not do the work. My wife ordered the steak with chimichurri and suddenly I was staring at her plate like a jealous food critic. Hers had flavor. Personality. A will to live. The fried yuca played emotional games with us. Some pieces were crispy perfection. Others felt like they were still thinking about whether they wanted to be fried at all. Commitment issues on a plate. Service was friendly, no complaints there. But the pacing felt like a telenovela. High intensity. Then a long dramatic pause. At times we were fully attended to. At other times I considered filing a missing persons report for our server. When we walked out, I was ready to plant this at three stars. Solid. Historic. Slightly overhyped. Then we made a championship level decision. We grabbed a couple guava and cheese pastries to go. We got home. Took one bite. Looked at each other in silence. Immediate agreement. This pastry just saved the whole evening. Flaky. Sweet. Tangy. Perfectly balanced. It was the culinary equivalent of a last second game winning shot. Four stars. Versailles is authentic. It's iconic. It's an experience. It may not hit a home run every at bat, but when it connects, especially in the pastry department, it reminds you exactly why it's a legend.

The food had no flavor. The fish had a terrible odor and smelled like it had been sitting and not fresh at all. The chicken smelled bad and also had no flavor. In a party of 5 no one enjoyed their food at all. I felt so bad because I was the one that suggested this restaurant to my family based on the reviews but our experience was terrible. The waitress was cool but the food was a complete miss I would never go back. It was a complete waste of money that I can't get back.

When I lived in Miami, this was my favorite Cuban spot, so my first trip after moving away, I had to come back! In the past, I had always ordered the Pan con Lechon so did exactly the same! I was bummed that they changed the plantain chips to fries, so decided to get a side of plantain chips as well. The sandwich is huge, so definitely sharable or will have leftovers! I thought the pork itself had good flavor, however it was a little more dry than I remembered. I loved getting the side of plantain chips and trying it with their dip. Versailles is definitely a classic spot, so I'd recommend coming here for some authentic Cuban, but I'd be curious to try other items.

Stopped by Versailles Café just for coffee and ended up sitting outside, which was perfect for a quick visit. The Cuban coffee was so rich, strong, and seriously delicious. Fair warning though... it did its job a little too well I couldn't fall asleep until around 2am. Still, totally worth it for how yummy and authentic it was. Simple stop, great coffee, and a classic Miami experience. Would absolutely come back (maybe just earlier in the day next time).

There's also an outdoor seating option where you can order through their cute little walk-up window "la ventanita," as they call it. On a cloudy day like ours, the weather wasn't an issue, but unfortunately the outdoor area shows some wear: the plants, and the tables all need some attention. Worth noting, one section sits close to the restaurant's large trash bins, and the smell does reach the tables, which is a shame. Now, the good stuff , and there's plenty of it. The staff is wonderful: young, enthusiastic, genuinely warm and professional. The passion they have for what they do comes through immediately. The passion fruit juice (jugo de parchita) was absolutely delicious naturally unsweetened, which for me is exactly right. And the sandwich? That's what brought me here in the first place, and it did not disappoint. It was outstanding, the kind of thing you find yourself thinking about long after you've left. 100% recommended. Here's hoping they give that outdoor space some love soon!
