I used to live in Miami and have visited them many times for their empanadas, black bean soup, arroz con pollo, camarones con ajillo, and many others! They also have a bakery where you can order bread and pastries to go, and of course cafecito! We recently came to visit Miami again and really enjoyed the nostalgia of being back here, and the food slapped! We arrived in Miami early January 2025, and as soon as we got our rental car, we headed here. You HAVE to eat here when in the city. The line was long, so we headed to the window counter on the side of the building. Good choices here are limited but still plenty. We opted for the jamon croquetas, beef empanada, and guava puff pastry. All of them were delicious, but the croquetas were the best. Full of ham and cheese and with a delicious crust, we could have just eaten these until we got sick. Instead, we had two Cuban coffees and almost got heart attacks instead. Went to Miami and noticed this place had great reviews, so we decided to join the craze. It's a pretty large restaurant, but I found that they lack a good system once you give them your name. Everyone sits on a big patio with a bar, and they yell out names, imagine how many people have the same name! The only "good" thing is that if your party size is different, that's how you'll know whether they're calling your party or someone else's. My suggestion is to give them your name along with the initial of your last name. They should definitely consider using beepers or even texting, although they are extremely busy, so I can see why that might be difficult. The food was very good, but our server seemed a bit overwhelmed, and we couldn't get refills on water or anything else we needed. Be prepared to sit or stand outside in the elements, as this place gets really crowded and they don't take reservations. Overall, a great experience while on vacation. read more

Went to a Marlins Game and was in the mood for Cuban food. They say if you're in Miami you must stop in to Versailles and it didn't disappoint. Arrived around 10:00 pm and had a 15 minute wait on a Thursday night. Walking in they had many different areas with plenty of seating. With such high turnover the restaurant was clean and well maintained. Waters were delivered quickly without asking. Love that!! I ordered a Cuban sandwich which was made to perfection. Perfect amount of meat ratio and the bread was freshly made. My friends ordered the special Cuban sandwich which is the same as mine but much larger and her husband ordered the steak sandwich which came with fries. He mention it was tasty but had a favorite steak sandwich at another restaurant. My husband ordered coffee and cheesecake dessert. He commented it was very favorable and light, not as heavy as a New York cheesecake. Will definitely return earlier in the night for a real hot Cuban meal. I like this place and have been here a few times. I like it because it's authentic, historic, and unique. It's not super fancy. The whole place consists of different departments: dining room, the bakery room, and even a coffee corner. I have never dined here. My experience is only with the bakery and coffee. The place is pretty busy and because it is so, the food and all the delicious baked goods are very fresh. Coffee is strong. Customer service is good. I don't speak Spanish, but we do understand each other somehow :) There is free parking, which is very convenient. The only thing I probably should mention are the prices. I'm a fan of restaurants with a rich history and Versailles certainly has that. The menu is HUGE so I asked my waiter for a suggestion, something "very Cuban". Not sure why he suggested the lamb shank and honestly I'm not sure why I obliged! The flavor was there but it was so obviously not fresh. It was lukewarm and honestly tasted like it could've been premade elsewhere like from Costco or something. It wasn't tender but it was flavorful. It was huge and a chore to eat. I have no doubt that the tostones were made from frozen too considering they were freezer burned. The calamari was delicious and my friend said his ropa vieja was decent. Every 3-4 years, I forget how bad the food is and find myself back here, only to be reminded when I sadly pull up my last Yelp review. Shout-out to Damian, who was kind and accommodating when I asked about French bread for toast. I had called ahead and was told yes--turns out they thought I meant French toast. The two stars are strictly for Damian and for the drinks: fresh-squeezed orange juice and one of the best café con leches in town. But the food? My veggie omelette was a paper thin flavorless egg(?) crepe wrapped around soggy, sour vegetables. Definitely not fresh cut vegetables. The home fries were room temp and, bizarrely, also sour. I don't eat Cuban bread (pork lard--save the piggies!) so I requested wheat toast instead. It arrived barely toasted and cold--the butter literally never melted. As a local i had never been here but went for dinner with family and not only was it the fastest service i ever had but the food was actually really good we were out of the restaurant in less than an hour. To start ordered the croqueta trio which had one chicken and two cod fish croquetas. For the entree had a Pan con Bistec which was very tasty.
